Scott Henry rides the subway. He is wearing a black suit and carrying a shovel. A soldier going to war, a Navy SEAL on a rescue mission. People look at him with disinterest. A man in a suit carrying heavy tools is hardly the weirdest thing they've seen today. He has a black messenger bag across his back, slung over his shoulders. There is a pair of wire cutters inside, a set of work gloves. It is ten o'clock in the morning. He has two hours before the memorial. Two hours to penetrate the perimeter fence, to enter his old backyard, find the spot and dig.

On this week's episode of the CWC podcast I had the pleasure of getting to know Scott Henry, one of my favorite TikTok'ers. Scott has built an impressive following on his TikTok as well as his Instagram, and in 2021 he won the coveted belt on CBS's "Tough As Nails" with his big heart and amazing charisma. He is also a proud husband, father, and step father to five amazing children. We talked about his infamous Amber Heard videos that initially led me to his page, the importance of accepting who you are, blocking the haters, and his personal TikTok strategy. And of course, we talked about Elvis and the Elvis movie too :) Scott's TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@scottdhenryScott's IG: https://www.instagram.com/scottdhenry31/Scott's Beacons: https://beacons.ai/scottdhenry31https://linktr.ee/carolinemathias
Alex Whalen on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 12/07/22 About Alex Whalen - Alex Whalen's dance music story starts all the way back on New Year's Eve in 1991, when a flyer led to a map point that led to a legendary Catastrophic rave in Washington, D.C. A love of the music and culture he found there quickly morphed into a budding career as a much sought-after downtempo DJ, eventually landing him a gig at Supersting alongside the likes of Sasha, Laurent Garnier, LTJ Bukem, BT, Scott Henry, and Carl Cox. As Alex's notoriety grew, he expanded his musical arsenal to include progressive house, techno, and trance, eventually attracting the attention of the Deep Dish boys back home in D.C. After tagging him to head their the Yoshitoshi Shop and Yoshitoshi.com his reach went global, with gigs across the Americas and Europe. Not long after, he formed a close musical partnership with Dave Ralph, creating a duo that held down a monthly residency at Buzzlife in DC, produced several records for R-Factor Recordings, and launched a world tour in support of both. After moving to San Francisco in the summer of 2002, he joined the Thump Radio crew in producing a series of syndicated radio shows, headlined regularly for both Spundae and Release, helped launch a new house music venue for Blowfish Music & Sushi, and launched a series of successful weekly and monthly nights across California, including Arrival Industries with DJ Kramer and Nicholas Baker. But when his musical partner Dave Ralph called from Boston's legendary Avalon with a new opportunity, it was time to head back East, and for the next decade he shared the bill with all the biggest names in dance music. At the same time, and in what is likely a first for a DJ with his track record, he completed a PhD in Political Science at Boston University, all while launching and hosting the Good People Better Rise Up! podcast, a series now 250+ episodes and more than 15 years in the making. When COVID hit, Alex necessarily put his travelling schedule on hold, turning his attention to building a new production studio deep in the mountains of Colorado. PHDJE Studios sits dead center in the highest town in North America, just a few miles down the road from the Molly Mines of Climax Colorado, a combination that undoubtedly make him the highest DJ in North America. Along with several of his mates, he's formed the Bootycorn Sound System, a DJing and production collective determined to bring the fun and the funk to post-lockdown dancefloors worldwide. Alex recently joined forces with Pro B Tech Management. Expect to see him on a dancefloor near you soon! Micke on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 1pm PST 11/10/22 About Micke - In 1998, Micke co-founded Liquid Lounge (now known as Liquid Lounge SoundSystem), with good friend & long-time business partner, Erik Johnson, known as EJ. Together they formed a DJ collective & promotion group, which was led by Contrast, Micke & EJ's tag team name. As part of Contrast, Micke was regularly playing some of the most notable venues on the East Coast. Micke gained notoriety as a sound & lighting tech for Primacy, a major venue owner in DC — most notably at Club Five and Nation — Micke's hard work and dedication was recognized by Scott Henry, the founder of Buzz, who hired him onto his management team. Buzz was one of the most well known and influential weekly club events in rave history. Thanks to Buzz, Micke's talent was quickly noticed by some of the biggest names in Electronic Music including: Sasha, Hybrid, The Crystal Method, Tarantella & Redanka, Paul Oakenfold, BT, Judge Jules, Max Graham, Armin Van Helden, Dave Ralph, Deep Dish, PVD, Chris Fortier, Carl Cox, Scott Dixon, DJ Dan, Scott Henry, Charles Feelgood, DJ Keoki, and Donald Glaude to name a few…. and of course, Sandra Collins. Micke earned a Buzzlife residency, putting him and his collective, Liquid Lounge, in regular main room rotation at Buzz. It was then that Sandra Collins noticed his skills, and requested Micke as her opening DJ whenever she played at Nation. On top of an active performance schedule, Micke was grinding for Deep Dish and their online label site, Yoshitoshi Records, as Customer Service Manager & Assistant Music Purchaser, under the direction of Alex Whalen, General Manager of Yoshitoshi Records (Store) and Yoshitoshi.com. In 2006, Micke took a hiatus from performing to focus on honing his production skills. Now, he's surging back, hitting the scene heavy with original tracks & collaborations with such artists as Sandra Collins, Scott Dixon (Voyager), & Andy Woldman. He has continued to evolve his 20 year music partnership with EJ, as Temporal Mental, in parallel to his solo career. Micke represents District Ignition, Buzzlife Productions and Liquid Lounge SoundSystem, which are stables from his Washington, D.C. roots. In late 2017, Micke's collaboration with Sandra Collins began to shine. As of November 2018, Sandra & Micke have signed 9 original tracks along with 3 remixes across 4 different labels. These labels include: Perfecto Black, Pro B Tech Music, Stripped Digital, & Stripped Recordings. Emerging in Washington, D.C. twenty years ago, in the prime of the rave era, Micke was a talented & bright, yet unknown artist in an overgrowing sea of bedroom DJ's. In 1998, Micke co-founded Liquid Lounge (now known as Liquid Lounge SoundSystem), with good friend & long-time business partner, Erik Johnson, known as EJ. Micke became a Buzz resident with regular, main room rotations. It was then that Sandra noticed his skills, requesting Micke as her opening DJ whenever she played at Nation. While playing regularly, Micke also grinded for Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi Records, alongside mentor, Alex Whalen. In '06, Micke took time away from DJing to focus on his production skills. Now, he's back performing & working with such artists as: Sandra Collins, Voyager, & Charlie May, in parallel to his solo production & performance career. In fact, as of Dec 2018, Sandra & Micke have signed 9 tracks along with 3 remixes across 4 different labels. These labels include: Perfecto Black, Pro B Tech Music, Stripped Digital, & Stripped Recordings. In support of these releases, the duo started a national tour beginning in Spring 2019. - Micke is a affiliated with District Ignition, Liquid Lounge, & Buzzlife, WDC - Bookings: facebook.com/djmicke About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience.
