This week, we review the pleasantly robust results from global beer companies during the first quarter of 2026. More importantly, we bid adieu to a dear friend and longtime contributor, Francois Sonneville. For those wanting to thank Francois for years of fantastic industry coverage, please reach out: FSonneville@yahoo.co.uk. We discuss individual company results at the following timestamps: Heineken (7:32): Results are stable heading into a leadership transition. AB InBev (15:44): Revenue, volumes, and EBITDA are all well ahead of expectations. RTDs, Michelob, and Busch are filling the gap left by Bud Light. Constellation Brands (24:20): Business is stabilizing following a tough year in 2025. Royal Unibrew (32:22): Despite strong results from a highly diversified business, the headline was the loss of the PepsiCo business in Denmark, Finland, and the Baltic states, which account for nearly one-sixth of company revenue. Carlsberg (38:40): Both volume and revenues grew, with strong performance in the UK as the integration of Britvic goes forward. The headline is the switch from Coca-Cola to PepsiCo in Denmark and Finland and taking on the Baltic states from Royal Unibrew. Molson Coors (48:20): Volume is down, but revenues are flat with improved EBITDA, though costs pressures – aluminum in particular – remain a headache. s a Best of Christmas Eve edition of The Tim Conway Jr. Show, and things get surprisingly sudsy — and strangely sanitary. The crew kicks things off stunned to discover that Michelob is officially America’s #1 beer, sparking a multi-segment deep dive no one saw coming. Tim shares hilarious childhood stories about growing up around beer, debates what really qualifies as “the most popular,” and takes a nostalgic trip through classic TV and vintage beer commercials that defined an era. Then, in true Conway fashion, the show takes a hard left turn into “Clean Sheets.” Tim breaks down what it really means to be clean, how often you should be washing your sheets, and why some people might be living way dirtier than they realize.A perfect mix of holiday laughs, beer myths busted, old-school TV nostalgia, and classic Tim honesty — this Christmas Eve best-of delivers it all.

Discussions continue around what part the FCC played in ABC's suspension of Jimmy Kimmel last week and his subsequent return to air tonight. Conway Jr. points out the inconsistency of some celebrities, who are speaking up in support of Kimmel's so-called cancelation, as opposed to their silence around the public cancelations of others. Also, the baritone of KFI otherwise known as Mark Thompson is in studio to nerd out with Conway Jr over football and stadiums. They also discuss memories of Michelob Ultra, now the No. 1 beer in the USA!

Pat Cobe, senior menu editor at Restaurant Business, and Bret Thorn, senior food & beverage editor for Nation's Restaurant News and Restaurant Hospitality, together moderated a menu innovation panel at the Restaurant Leadership Conference last Monday in Phoenix. Participants included operators from Popeyes, Noodle's & Company, Potbelly, Applebee's and Velvet Taco, and we heard a lot about what's in the works and what's to come.At RLC, we also heard from Kevin Hochman, CEO of Chili's and our Restaurant Leader of the Year. He chatted about a lot of things on stage, including the Big QP Burger, Chili's quarter-pound burger that launched that day. It's a clear swipe at McDonald's, and as a special introductory deal, it comes with fries and a soft drink for $10.99.Then we shared an interview with Bob Johnston, CEO of The Melting Pot, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. When the restaurant chain started, there were only three fondues on the menu: beef, cheese and chocolate. Johnston, who began as a dishwasher at The Melting Pot, talked about how the menu has since expanded, with on-trend items like seafood and veggie fondues, a brie and fig variation, and steak fondue with mango-habanero sauce. There is also a full bar with craft cocktails and a varied wine selection, a far cry from Michelob—the only beer option back in the ‘70s. Listen as we hear how The Melting Pot has evolved but is still offering an interactive dining experience, which is exactly what many guests want these days when they visit a restaurant.

Hitting rock bottom. Struggling with self-image. Battling against emotional triggers. These are some of the challenges Kenny Santucci faced head-on as he metamorphosized from an insecure teenager into a successful trainer and gym owner.Still, conquering the accountability and self-discipline that rescued him from the darkest places wasn't a straightforward path. It was a bumpy road, full of traumatic experiences— like being body-shamed by a teacher in his teen years and contemplating ending it all after being jobless, unable to train, and suffering a painful breakup. Instead of giving up, Kenny used these setbacks as a catalyst for change, relying on daily habits and consistency as the building blocks of his success.Kenny is one of New York's top trainers and a thought leader in the fitness industry. He is a brand ambassador for Michelob and Fitaid, and collaborated with Reebok, Under Armour, and Adidas. He also owns NYC's biggest health, fitness, and wellness expo, STRONG New York, and is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for health issues.“I put everyone else's success ahead of my own, which will eventually make me successful.”Today, Ginni sits down with Kenny Santucci to discuss how early struggles with body image and self-esteem pushed him to turn fitness into a lifestyle, not just a profession. They also talk about using physical transformation as a gateway to emotional growth, how accumulating small wins pays off in the long run, the misconceptions created by social media on body image and health, and more. What You'll Learn:(5:20) About lifelong habits born from childhood traumas (10:20) The role of consistency and daily wins in personal transformation (14:50) Small wins are the stepping stones to get out of the darkest places (21:00) The transformational power of accountability and consistency Resources:STRONG New York: https://www.instagram.com/strongnewyork/?hl=esConnect with Kenny Santucci:Website: https://www.kenny-santucci.com/Insta: https://www.instagram.com/kennysantucci/?hl=esYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKEiXU_67Fb31rg6v1cERQgX: https://twitter.com/kennysantucci?lang=esConnect with Ginni:Website: www.ginnimedia.comInsta: https://www.instagram.com/theginnishow/?hl=enYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@ginnimediaLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ginnisaraswati Hosted on Acast. Like any good parable, the "David and Goliath" self-mythology of the American craft brewing industry in the '80s and '90s was illuminating, compelling — and maybe a bit reductive, too. In Episodes 33 and 34, we examined this us-versus-them dynamic from the perspective of one of the “thems,” Keith Villa, who created the Blue Moon Brewing Company from within the Coors colossus in 1995. Today, we're coming at it once again through the eyes of New Realm Brewing Co. cofounder and brewmaster Mitch Steele, who did a substantial stretch, semi-concurrent to Villa's at Coors, at Big Beer's biggest and baddest "Goliath" of all: Missouri's pre-InBev Anheuser-Busch. After starting his career in a California brewpub, Mitch eventually wound up in St. Louis towards the end of the 20th century on a skunkworks-style R&D team tasked with brewing up answers to those pesky “microbrews” that would somehow satisfy distributors in the mighty red network, the American drinking public, and August Busch the Third himself — no mean feat. Would creative extensions on the premium Michelob line do the trick? What about a new brand named for A-B's hop farm in northern Idaho? You'll have to listen on to find out. While the album Whitesnake may not be the debut album from the band Whitesnake, this self-titled seventh studio album might as well be a debut, as only two members were present from the previous album. Known in the UK as 1987, and in Japan as Serpens Albus, this album featured returning members John Sykes on guitars and backing vocals, and David Coverdale on lead vocals. Additionally Neil Murray was on bass, Aynsley Dunbar was on percussion, and Don Airey was on keyboards.David Coverdale was the lead singer for Deep Purple, and left the group in 1976. He did a couple of solo albums, the first of which was named “White Snake.” He formed the band Whitesnake as his backing band in 1978. They had a lot of success in the UK, Europe, and Japan with their early albums, but Coverdale wanted to break through in North America by the mid-80's. He started moving from a blues/hard rock sound to a more glam metal sound, starting with the album "Slide It In" in 1984, and fully embraced the heavy metal sound and hair band image with this album.Whitesnake would get significant airplay, with two singles going to number 1 (Here I Go Again) and number 2 (Is This Love?) on the Billboard US charts. Their videos would be staples of MTV, with prominent exposure of Tawny Kitaen, Coverdale's girlfriend and soon-to-be wife. The band would be broken up shortly after the album was complete, leaving David Coverdale as the sole member by the time they went on tour. This was despite the fact that John Sykes co-wrote all but two of the songs on the album. Get your hair metal on as Bruce puts his metal hair on, presenting this week's album. Bad BoysA deeper cut, this song is heavy on the rock and light on the significance of the lyrics. “Bad bad boys, getting wild in the street, wild in the city, I see you - you see me.” Much of the album has this heavy rock sound.Crying In the Rain '87This track that starts the album is a reworked song originally released by the group in 1982. The original is more bluesy and has a slower tempo than this version. The song was inspired by David Coverdale's divorce.Give Me All Your LoveThis was the fourth single from the album, and it reached number 58 on the US Top 100 charts. By the time the single was released in January 1988 a new guitar solo had been recorded by Vivian Campbell, replacing guitarist and co-writer John Sykes. Campbell would tour with the band but would leave before the next album.Still of the NightThe first single from the album may have only hit number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it received significant airplay on rock stations and MTV. The comparisons to Led Zeppelin were frequent, not just for the guitar riffs, but also for the heavy drumming and similarity between the vocalizations of Coverdale and Robert Plant. The song is about obsession, maybe a vampire, maybe a stalker. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Love and Marriage by Frank Sinatra (from the television series “Married...With Children”)This anti-Cosby Show family dystopia followed the antics of shoe salesman Al Bundy and his family. STAFF PICKS:Tonight, Tonight, Tonight by GenesisLynch gets the staff picks going with a single from Genesis's album Invisible Touch. It went to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 despite being written less as a pop song and more like the prog rock style that Genesis used earlier in the decade. The lyrics are about a conversation with a drug dealer, a fact that must have been missed when Michelob used the song to promote their beer.Love Removal Machine by The CultWayne's staff pick is the first single from The Cult's third album, Electric. It went to number 15 on the Mainstream Rock charts in the United States. Lead singer Ian Astbury compares this song to getting on your favorite motorcycle. The opening riff is often compared to “Start Me Up” by the Rolling Stones.Ahead by Wire Rob features the closest post punk band Wire would get to a pop single. It has a spacey, ethereal sound. Wire had extensive influence over many groups, including Sonic Youth, The Cure, and R.E.M. First We Take Manhattan by Jennifer WarnesBruce closes out the staff picks with a song written by Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen. Jennifer Warnes originally did this song for a Cohen tribute album, and it features guitarist extraordinaire Stevie Ray Vaughan. The song itself is dark and apocalyptic, with lyrics told from the perspective of a terrorist. COMEDY TRACK:Put Down the Duckie by Hoots the Owl and ErnieWe first learned that we have to put down the duckie if we want to play the saxophone from this skit, which aired on Sesame Street for the first time in April 1987.
