Before Ernie found icon status he showed up in iconic TV shows such as, 'The Incredible Hulk', 'Taxi', 'The Dukes of Hazzard' & 'The A-Team' but it was when he was working on the set of 'Spacehunter' he met Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis. which led him be cast as one of the 4 iconic 'Ghostbusters'. With over an astonishing 250 credits, which include, 'The basketball Diaries', 'Congo', one of my favourites 'The Hand That Rocks the Cradle', 'The Crow' and 'Miss Congeniality'. and now he's returning to his most iconic role in the highly anticipated 'Ghostbusters Frozen Empire'.
In this episode of the show, we are talking about Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone as part of our 80s space western January expedition. Over the course of our conversation you will hear us talk about how this movie fits into the legacy of Star Wars, how it borrows a thing or two from The Road Warrior, and how it sets up a few things for Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome to draw from. We also talk about Ernie Hudson's muscles, Peter Strauss as Harrison Ford you can afford and the problematic nature of aggressive shampooing your sidekicks among other things. Welcome back to A Podcask of Amontillado, where we delve into the dark, dreadful, and terrifying parts of the world. Clear waters, a peaceful forest, rambunctious teens, machetes, axes, arrows, pitchforks, and so much more. In this episode Erin & Gary get back to nature with Arcane Carolina's Charlie Mewshaw to begin their series discussing one of the most iconic 80's horror franchises, Friday the 13th. In this first chapter, our camp counselors examine parts one through three to discuss their first encounters with the force of nature that is Jason, the killer no one expected in the first movie, how the franchise is the cheeseburger of horror, that Jason & Pamela are victims who did nothing wrong, chainsaw-adjacent tool use, the series' innovations in SFX, 80's 3-D, Jason's Elvis moment & legal troubles, their hopes & fears for the upcoming prequel series, and how these three films work as a cohesive story that build Jason into the slasher icon we know and love. Who remembers this movie? ...Hell, who even seen this movie?? Opening weekend it brought in over $7million dollars, so somebody had to have seen it. It has a lot going for it; good actors, great set pieces, a fantastic villain, but good ingredients don't always make a delicious dish. Either way, let's see if Spacehunter offers some entertainment value. The guys rate the cult classic 1983 feature "Spacehunter: Adventures in The Forbidden Zone". The Scrambler. Swimmin' Women. Overdog. Ironside. Zedmore. Tan Solo. Combat trains. Brainworks. Water, water everywhere. Gliders powered by... flares? Mutants.
It's Missing Real...in 3-D ! ! ! By that I mean 3 times Dumber than usual. We've got a double feature of 2 low-budget Road Warrior rip-offs so derivative they really make Max Mad. You've probably never even heard of them, although they feature young actresses who shortly afterward became rather famous: there's that Molly Ringworm chick with the red hair and the blonde who married John Travolta (no, not Olivia Newton-John!). From the classic 1980s, these movies were intended to be viewed wearing 3-D glasses, but I'd recommend blindfolds. Yes, they're awful, but also awful fun to talk about. So watch out! This podcast is COMIN' AT YA! (incidentally, another bad 3-D movie from that era!)
On the latest episode, Tim and Kelly take on the new Vince Vaughn comedy thriller FREAKY; join Molly Ringwald in SPACEHUNTER: ADVENTURES IN THE FORBIDDEN ZONE; and wallow in the cinematic genius that is PIECES!

In Spacehunter Michael Ironside could be the most underutilized villain of the 80's. He's barely on screen, the contraption he's in doesn't make me think he should be in charge or unbeatable in any way. Still kinda liked it though.
Highlights from Episode 20 The GBBMN cast offers their yearly holiday gift to our listeners by watching the regrettable Hallmark Holiday Made for TV film so you don’t have to. Remember a time when arcade games could capture your imagination so effectively that read-along books with cassette tapes and even “radio drama” styled records would draw dollars out of you faster than you could put a quarter in the slot? This week is just like that. As the Zardonians prepare for the Krytolian attack, shazbazzar and JediShua train cadets for Missile Command. We Love Our Cereal… …and JediShua got some cool swag at Cereal Box, inc for his birthday (and for our EarBuds), so stay tuned for more on that… In the meantime, shazbazzar talks about his experience with Post Nilla Wafers Banana Pudding cereal and JediShua enjoys a bowl of Lion Cereal with a Cap’n Crunch Slurpee to wash it down. PLUS: loads of information from our Roving Spoonster Shane in GR and other cereal correspondents Jeffrey Fischbach and Jonathan Bell. Saturday Mornings The Herculoids have always been a favorite of shazbazzar and JediShua, and with their amalgamation of style (prehistory fused with the future), the cartoon looks a bit dystopia. The eight-member team is heavily weighted against the humans on this super team of good guys. History Lesson In May 2013, shazbazzar mentioned a movie’s release on May 20, 1983. That movie was Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone. Guess what? We watch it again. The Future’s Not So Bright (Dystopian Summer) If Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone even remotely resembles the future, we’re all going to be disappointed. That’s nothing against the 1983 film’s effects, props, story, or acting chops and everything with all the bad things that happen to Wolff and Niki during their 3-D adventures in the Forbidden Zone. Even if you’ve never seen this movie, you should check out the discussion. It’s a good movie! TechnoRetro Arcade Atari’s Missile Command put the power in your hands with a roller ball, three buttons, three bases, and six cities to protect. This week on the show, step into a virtual world as we talk to Jake Zim, the Senior Vice President of Sony Virtual Reality, about the new Ghostbusters VR experience on PS4! But first up, there's a whole lot of news - remembering Bernie Wrightson, discussing first impressions of IDW Comics' Ghostbusters 101, SNL going "live" across North America, Spacehunter is coming to Blu-ray (and why should you care?), and Heide Park Resort has started showing off their upcoming dark ride attraction. After the news at around the hour mark, stick around for Chris and Troy talking about their experience with the Ghostbusters VR on Playstation 4 and a brief discussion with Jake Zim of Sony VR about the new experience, the expansion of The Void Ghostbusters Dimension and a whole lot more!

Gross, Associate Producer of Ghostbusters (1984) and Executive Producer of Ghostbusters II and The Real Ghostbusters.
