I'm so excited for this third season, kickstarting by talking to the innovation leader, entrepreneur, board professional, TED-X speaker, and creator Sofie Lindblom.Sofie and I first met at Spotify in 2013, where she quickly advanced to lead the global innovation team.Over the past decade, she has continued to lead innovation initiatives across many roles and organizations such as H&M, Kronans Apotek, and Electrolux. As an entrepreneur, she is the founder and former CEO of ideation360, a digital platform designed to streamline the collection and management of ideas. In 2020, she launched her second venture, SPCE, to create the world's first digital salesroom to digitize the customer relationship between organizations and reduce their carbon footprint. Currently, Sofie is the Chief Product Officer at SPCE, leading the product and development teams. She has been named one of the 100 most influential women in business, one of Sweden's 100 future female leaders, and one of the 50 most inspiring women in the European technology industry. In this conversation, we talk about the need for more women in tech, how to get into boards rooms, creativity, stress, and the negative correlation between innovation and back-to-back meetings. We also dive into doing things she is scared of and how she works with mindset and confidence on stage. On top of that, we explore the definition of success and the challenges of being a founder. And of course, my favourite topic, Sustainable High Performance. She's a woman of many hats, to say the least, and this episode is packed.I hope you will enjoy listening! The 260th edition of our Select series features some old-school broody house vibes from Cairo-based DJ Hisham Zahran. Arguably one of Egypt's most renowned and well traveled dance music acts, Hisham Zahran is known for his innovative and impeccably curated house and minimal sound. Since 2006 Zahran has regularly played in Europe, Asia, North and South America and has had residency stints with Egypt's Nacelle and New York's Bespoke Music. As a producer Zahran has released on respected international labels such as Mood Music, Audio Tonic, and Brown Eyed Boy and is notably part of the A&R team at electronic label Anjunadeep. For Select 260 Zahran delves into the darker side of his record collection, a moodier fit to what we've usually come accustomed to in his sets, mixing in a selection inspired by 90s and 00s house featuring tracks from the likes of Housey Doingz, SPCE, Mataemon and Inner Lakes. www.scenenoise.com

Virgin Galactic has showcased a promising financial performance for the first quarter of 2024, as stated on their earnings call. The company has managed to slash its operating costs, highlighting a laser-focused approach towards financial efficiency. Sustaining robust financial health remains a priority, supported by a well-fortified balance sheet replete with a generous liquidity cushion. The essence of Virgin Galactic's strategic blueprint is deeply rooted in its passion for commercial human spaceflight, prominently illustrated by its dedication to the Galactic 7 spaceflight and the innovative Delta spaceship initiative, as acknowledged on the earnings call. Collaborations with pioneering entities such as Bell and Carbon epitomize the company's voyage towards groundbreaking innovation and underscore its commitment to revolutionizing space exploration. In pursuit of achieving a yearly revenue milestone of $450 million, Virgin Galactic is unwavering in its trajectory, as stated during the earnings call. Central to this ambition is the enhancement of the VMS Eve's flight capacity. CEO Michael A. Colglazier emphasized the operational capability expansion, stating, "Our existing mothership will have the capacity to fly up to 3 times a week with the first two Delta ships, or upwards of 125 times a year, supporting a strong revenue business in the first stage of Delta operations."Virgin Galactic's astute market positioning is further evidenced by its pricing strategy for the Galactic 7 spaceflight, as discussed on the earnings call. With consumer readiness to invest in a unique space exploration experience, the company skillfully aligns its offerings with market demand. Colglazier elaborated on the importance of the customer journey, noting, "Consistently, I think it's helpful to have on both the customer side and the business side a two-year run...we will build people through that journey from the moment they sign on...in a steady state basis around 12 months of notice, so people can start to prepare."Virgin Galactic is charting a bold course for its future, aiming ambitiously to amass over $1 billion per operational spaceport, as stated during the earnings call. The company's hefty investments in the Delta spaceship project and the evolution of a next-gen mothership program signify its steadfast resolve to dominate the commercial space travel sector. By amalgamating strategic scaling efforts with comprehensive long-term development initiatives, Virgin Galactic aspires to establish unmatched leadership in the global space market. While Virgin Galactic's ambitions are commendable, it is crucial to maintain a realistic perspective. The commercial space travel sector is still in its infancy, and Virgin Galactic faces significant challenges in terms of technological advancements, regulatory compliance, and operational complexities. Achieving the lofty goals outlined during the earnings call will require substantial capital investment, meticulous execution, and a unwavering commitment to safety and innovation. Virgin Galactic's Q4 2023 earnings call, unedited
According to their latest earnings call on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024, Virgin Galactic Holdings entered the commercial operations domain last year, demonstrating a capability for regular and safe spaceline missions. According to the company's CEO Michael Colglazier, who spoke during the call, the company has also established a customer experience that they believe in. The positive feedback received from their first set of astronauts serves as a testament to their customer journey, from preflight activities and immersive training to the actual spaceflight. In terms of financial performance, the company reported losses in GAAP net income and adjusted EBITDA for both the fourth quarter and the fiscal year. However, a stabilized balance sheet, backed by approximately $1 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities, indicates the company's resilience in overcoming short-term hurdles while continuing to focus on long-term objectives. In their earnings call, the company emphasized their commitment to enhancing their commercial space travel experiences, a cornerstone of their operations thus far. Virgin Galactic further underscored its plans to bolster the space economy by constructing and utilizing full-scale spaceports. The company also highlighted growing consumer interest in commercial space travel, evidenced by a backlog of 725 future astronauts and a potential market of around 300,000 interested individuals worldwide. This, paired with an estimated annual market growth rate of 8%, signals the high potential within the commercial space travel market. As part of the company's future plans, building and testing Delta class spaceships for ground and flight testing by 2025 has been pointed out as a key part of the roadmap. Commercial service of these spaceships is expected to commence by 2026, as per the company's CEO. Addressing their recent investigations, Colglazier stated, "We are making really solid progress. We've done a fair bit of testing on the ground... So we don't anticipate any impact on GALACTIC 7 at all for quarter two, and the investigation has been going really well with the FAA in partnership." Virgin Galactic's earnings call highlighted their strategy, underpinned by a focus on delivering high-value customer experiences, a sustained commitment to their balance sheet, and execution of ambitious future plans. Despite bearing short-term financial challenges, these factors serve as indicators of the company's dedication to building themselves within the space tourism sector. However, as with any industry, future success will depend on how effectively these strategies and plans can be executed and sustained over time. In this week's episode, Dan and Kyle take a deeper look at the rising inflation concerns, and the good cop, bad cop routine Powell and Yellen seem to be playing before talking about the rise and fall of SPCE. Dan details an amazing week of trading, while Kyle had a completely opposite experience. In the Crypto Corner, an Ethereum Co-Founder claims his safety is at risk due to his position and Powell makes some bold claims about a digital dollar. One week into the bet, both Dan and Kyle are only separated by a few dollars. If you like our show, please let us know by rating and subscribing on your platform of choice!Should you like our show and hate social media, then please tell all your friends! If you have no friends and hate social media and you just want to give us money for advertising and help you find more friends, then you can donate here! Virgin Galactic's (SPCE) founder Richard Branson did NOT go to space, but we talk about what might be the biggest stock promotional event ever? Celldex Therapeutics (CLDX) may have found a cure for hives. As America gets greener, lithium miner Albemarle Corporation's (ALB) big bet on renewable energy is paying off. RMW Commerce CEO Rick Watson tells us why Fedex's (FDX) growth has only Amazon to worry about. The Drill Down with Cory Johnson offers a daily look at the business stories behind stocks on the move. Richard Branson is successfully the first billionaire to go to space. This daredevil and thrill-seeker completed a suborbital space flight, the journey which was roughly about an hour. Tune in as we talk about the future of space and if this industry is worth investing in?
In this episode, we open with a very amateur discussion of some very professional boxing. But don't worry! There is more, next up we look into Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic, one of the most fun and simultaneously least viable business models we've ever seen. One thing that isn't as up to par as SPCE, is Cathie Wood's ARKX ETF. With holdings like 3D printing, Netflix, and Amazon, we weren't particularly impressed with how relevant the management of this fund was to the name. However, it's not all bad news there were at least a few slightly relevant companies... The next thing we discuss is the Ford F-150 Lightning. How does it hold up against the new GMC Hummer, the Tesla Cybertruck, or even the more fictional Rivian R1T? In our last segment, we look at ETFs and particularly phrase it for beginners. If you're new to investing then this one is for you!
In this week's episode, Dan and Kyle go EV heavy again, with stories from GM, Tesla and Lordstown. They also talk about the recently announced SPCE flight, OPEC and Robinhood's upcoming IPO. For trading, both guys make big mistakes trading CVM. In Crypto, Jack Dorsey makes some ridiculous claims about Ethereum and in the bet, we declare a winner for June.If you like our show, please let us know by rating and subscribing on your platform of choice!Should you like our show and hate social media, then please tell all your friends! If you have no friends and hate social media and you just want to give us money for advertising and help you find more friends, then you can donate here! In this week's episode, Dan and Kyle look at SPCE's crazy Friday, the new infrastructure plan and inflation. For Investing, Dan still hasn't sold any of his long term holdings. In trading, Kyle catches up to Dan in the epiphany department, and in Crypto, they discuss China's effect on Bitcoin along with Paraguay's plans to become more "crypto friendly." With only one more week left in the month, one of the guys needs a homerun! If you like our show, please let us know by rating and subscribing on your platform of choice!Should you like our show and hate social media, then please tell all your friends! If you have no friends and hate social media and you just want to give us money for advertising and help you find more friends, then you can donate here! They also discuss this generation's Space Race and legislation in the House targeting the big 5 tech companies. For Investing, Dan still didn't do s***. In this week's episode, Dan and Kyle talk about the latest jobs report and all things AMC. We also squeeze in some SPCE news, a SPAC acquisition, and inflation. For Investing, Dan didn't do s***. In this week's episode, meme stocks continue to lead the headlines as stocks like AMC, GME, SPCE, MVIS and BB continue to pressure short sellers. We also talk about an interesting story of activist short sellers allegedly attacking an oil company in Africa. For Investing, Kyle gives an update on his premium harvesting strategy and Dan does the same with his big 3. In Options, Dan liquidates his other holdings to focus on AMC and Kyle makes some savvy options trades. A surprise surge leads to a shocking upset in the monthly bet, and consequences will be justly served on the upcoming monthly review! If you like our show, please let us know by rating and subscribing on your platform of choice! In this episode of the podcast, Brandon and I break down our picks for the $1,000 Portfolio Challenge where we were both responsible for allocating $500 to the stocks or ETFs of our choice. This proved to be more difficult than originally anticipated, especially with picking individual stocks. I find that when you are starting to invest, especially with a small amount of money, individual stocks can eat up a large part of your portfolio concentration. With that in mind, I always recommend starting with a solid foundation of ETFs or Index Funds that track the overall U.S. market as well as the International market (Vanguard, iShares, Fidelity, and Schwab are a few providers that come to mind). This free form dialogue serves as an informal introduction on how we think about picking stocks, and is just the tip of the iceberg! Stay tuned for a future episode where we break down some community stock suggestions and potentially consider them as constituents in our portfolio!
