Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Nicole Henry, Renowned Jazz Vocalist About Harvey's guest: Today's guest, Nicole Henry, is a renowned, multiple award-winning jazz singer, whose dynamic, soulful voice, incredible range, impeccable phrasing, and powerful bluesy-gospel emotional delivery, have made her one of the world's most highly acclaimed vocalists.   In 2002, after being discovered singing in a jazz trio in Miami, the Miami New Times named her the Best Solo Musician of the year.   She's gone on to record 8 spectacular albums including, “The Nearness of You”, “Teach Me Tonight”, “The Very Thought of You”, “Embraceable”, “Summer Sessions”, her latest album, “Time to Love Again”, which has already had 4 top-charting singles - and I can't resist mentioning one of my all-time favourite albums, “So Good, So Right: Nicole Henry Live”, recorded at the renowned Feinstein's 54 Below nightclub in New York City.   Four of her albums have landed in the Top 10 on the U.S. Billboard, JazzWeek, UK and Japan jazz charts.   Her repertoire ranges from the Great American Songbook, classic and contemporary jazz, pop standards, blues and original material.   And get this:  in 2013, she received the "Soul Train Award" for "Best Traditional Jazz Performance", winning out over George Benson, Jeffrey Osborne, Chaka Khan, Tony Bennett, Marc Anthony and Terrence Blanchard.   She is universally adored by music critics.   The New York Times said, “Every gesture and inflection conveys confidence and mastery, and she creates the sense of being in the presence of a pop-soul superwoman.”  And Broadway World said, “So powerful is her charisma, so unique is her personality, so rich is her music, so abandoned is her joy, that you can't watch her without being drawn in."  And in my opinion, that's an understatement.  Our guest's latest album, entitled, “Time to Love Again”, has been described by Downbeat Magazine as “exuberant, joyous, and immaculately executed.”  Her latest single, which is her fourth charting single from the album, is called “Is It a Crime”, and it was recently added as the #1 breakthrough single on the UK Soul Charts.   For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com/ To see more about Nicole Henry, go to:https://www.nicolehenry.com/https://www.facebook.com/NicoleHenryMusichttps://www.youtube.com/user/nikisingshttps://www.instagram.com/nicolehenrymusic/https://twitter.com/NicoleHenryJazz #NicoleHenry   #harveybrownstoneinterviews

AI can help education become smarter, faster, and cheaper. It is already happening, and we can expect it to grow exponentially…. We queried ChatGPT: “Please tell me about the future of online instruction and AI.” Response: * Expansion of MOOCs to deliver high-quality educational content to a large number of learners across the globe…typically free or low-cost for anyone with an internet connection. * Personalized Learning and Adaptive Learning Technologies to adjust the learning experience and provide real-time feedback to learners and teachers. * Blended Learning Models combining online education with face-to-face instruction. * VR and AR to explore virtual environments, simulations, and remote collaboration. * Microlearning and Bite-sized Content via videos, quizzes, interactive modules. * Lifelong Learning and Continuous Upskilling for professional development. And we asked ChatGPT: “Please send fictional movie quotes about Education.” Response: * “What we learn with pleasure, we never forget.” [Remember the Titans, 2000 film] * “With the Internet, we can continue our education every single day, in every conceivable way.” [Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2015 film] We'll ask Mary Nunaley, Murray Johannsen, Julie Ryan, and Dr. Anne H. Created by Sandra, Emily and Jess. It's time for the most anticipated conversation of Season 2! We talk about..."A Film By Kirk." Oh, also, there was a car accident or something. Sandra introduces a new but hopefully not used to much segment, we have a slightly different approach to Towns Person of the Week, we say goodbye to one character (for all of 2 minutes), and another starts to weasel his way in again, (also, for all of 2 minutes). Join us this week as we discuss how Lorelai treats Jess like the antichrist, Luke shows his true colors, Rory continues to be treated like a child, and we do an in depth scene by scene script reading of "A Film by Kirk." Created by Sandra, Emily and Jess. In part one of this dramatic-but-sort-of-disjointed episode, we talk about movies (Sandra talks about eleven!!! different movies, all referenced in the span of two minutes), academics (Town Meeting's official statement: at the very least, get your high school diploma, and for pete's sake, stop trash talking trade schools!), tutoring smart boys (and emotionally cheating on your angry boyfriend with said smart boy), and paths in life (college? no college? how about being a journalist in a war-torn country?). Also discussed: Luke treating Rory like an adult, where did Jess learn his magic tricks, and of course, the Yearling. Be warned, we absolutely lose it towards the end of this episode! “Your Hit Parade” was an American radio and television music program that was broadcast from 1935 to 1959. It was sponsored by American Tobacco's Lucky Strike cigarettes. During this 24-year run, the show had 19 orchestra leaders and 52 singers or groups. Not surprisingly, listeners were informed that the "Your Hit Parade survey checks the best sellers on sheet music and phonograph records, the songs most heard on the air and most played on the automatic coin machines, an accurate, authentic tabulation of America's taste in popular music." However, the exact procedure of this "authentic tabulation" remained a secret. Here are23hits from 1954. Enjoy. *****Join the conversation on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008232395712**** or by email at dannymemorylane@gmail.com*****In this episode you'll hear:1)     Crazy 'Bout Ya Baby by The Crew Cuts2)     Mr. Sandman by The Chordettes3)     Thirteen Women (And Only One Man In Town) by Bill Haley & His Comets4)     Muskrat Ramble by The McGuire Sisters5)     The Gal That Got Away by Frank Sinatra (with Nelson Riddle & His Orchestra)6)     Love Me by Connie Russell (with Red Callender's Combo)7)     Hernando's Hideaway by Archie Bleyer & His Orchestra8)     Happy Days and Lonely Nights by The Fontane Sisters9)     Sway by Dean Martin10) This Old House by Rosemary Clooney11) I Need You Now by Eddie Fisher12) Joey by Betty Madigan13) Skokiaan (South African Song) by The Four Lads (with The Neal Hefti Orchestra)14) Stormy Blues by Billie Holiday15) The Man with the Banjo by The Ames Brothers16) Let Me Go, Lover! by Joan Weber With Jimmy Carroll & His Orchestra17) They Were Doin' the Mambo by Vaughn Monroe18) If I Give My Heart To You by Doris Day (with The Mellomen & The Frank DeVol Orchestra)19) Hey There by Sammy Davis Jr. (with The Sy Oliver Orchestra)20) Little Things Mean A Lot by Kitty Kallen21) Three Coins In The Fountain by The Four Aces (Featuring Al Alberts)22) Teach Me Tonight by Dinah Washington23) Smile by Nat King Cole

Gilmore S2 E19: "Teach Me Tonight"/Buffy S2 E19: "I Only Have Eyes for You" Some high school boys get a little too hot for teacher this week, and honestly, it gets pretty dangerous for everybody. Both high school principals are fed up, and let's just say books are coming out when they shouldn't be. Turns out Bryan is way more of a Jess than Stacey even realized, and Rory's excessive dessert consumption has really gotten her into trouble this time. Surprise surprise, something is haunting Sunnydale High School, and Giles is pretty bummed that it's not his dead girlfriend. But don't worry; it all culminates in a beautiful, yet confusing ghost play.Don't forget to follow us on social media for more Buffy/Gilmore content as well as other comedy content.YouTube:Bryan & StaceyInstagram:@gilmoreslayer@bryanandstacey@BMofunny@staceykulowTikTok:@gilmoreslayerTwitter:@gilmoreslayer@bryanandstacey@BMofunny@staceykulowFacebook:Bryan & StaceyBuffy the Gilmore SlayerCheck out bryanandstacey.com to find out what else we've been up to, or email us at:bryanandstaceyreviews@gmail.comTheme song written and performed by Louie Aronowitz @louiearonowitz

Escucharemos: Night Mist; The More I See You; All of You; Teach Me Tonight; This Time the Dream's on Me; Guess who I Saw Today; What a Little Moonlight Can Do; Something Happens to Me; Call it Stormy Monday; The Things We Did Last Summer; The Nearness of You; Save Your Love for Me; Happy Talk; One Note Samba; The Good Life; What Kind of Fool Am I?; Call Me; Goin' Out of My Head; Midnight Sun; When the Sun Comes Out; Watch What Happens.

Kathy Sloane‘s Keystone Korner: Portrait of a Jazz Club (Indiana UP, 2011) captures a time and place in San Francisco in the 70s and early 80s that we may never see again. Owner/impresario/musician Todd Barkan ran the club on a frayed financial shoestring, but the club’s unique ambience in San Francisco’s North Beach beckoned the greatest jazz players, where jazz aficionados and neophytes alike could appreciate America’s great cultural art form. Sloane’s fabulous black and white photographs of jazz players such as Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Betty Carter, Elvin Jones, Mary Lou Williams, Bobby Hutcherson, McCoy Tyner, and countless others range from the contemplative to the kinetic – and they all tell a story. Sloane arranges chapters thematically with titles familiar to jazz lovers like Bright Moments, Bobby and Bags and Teach Me Tonight. In each chapter, the Keystone family of employees, patrons and the players tell stories and reminisce as to what made the club special. And there was something special about the club, from the cramped confines to the smells of Ora Harris’s home cooking to the down-home good feeling – and it was next to the police precinct in North Beach to boot! Sloane includes a discography compiled by Stuart Kremsky and a CD of some of the great live performances at the Korner with liner notes by Sascha Feinstein. Like the Keystone Korner itself, Sloane’s book is a labor of love and a testament to a memorable time and place. If you were lucky enough to have been there, you can relive it; if you missed it, you can go back in time and live in the heart, art and soul of a San Francisco institution that epitomized the music and feeling of jazz.
