Today I'm finally under 180 lbs I've always been hungry. It's the kind of hungry that is like ex smokers feel, craving a cigarette. I'm not so hungry any more. On 7/14/15 I was 197 lbs after being a vegetarian for 17 years. Sometime before this I began riding my bike 10 miles per day, round trip to the sanctuary. I started the Bulletproof diet and by September had dropped to 187 where I stayed until last month. Bulletproof added grass fed meat to my diet. With no better results, by Jun 3, 2017 I switched to Veestro, a vegan pre packaged diet where each meal was between 200-400 calories. I have been eating that, three times a day since then with the rare meal out with Howie. Still my weight has hovered right around 187. On April 12, 2018 I watched a video by Dr. Gundry about the necessity of pre-biotics (not probiotics) and what enticed me to try it was the claim that if the gut flora was being fed properly I wouldn't have those “I'm starving down here!” signals sent to my brain. The product arrived on April 17 and within 3 days I was noticeably less hungry. I weighed 182.4 that day. I decided to capitalize on that and add the powder to my morning coffee, with grass fed butter, and drop from 3 of the Veestro meals a day to two. That would be a max of 800 calories a day and usually around 600. I'm very happy to be under 180 today at 179.8. It took 3.5 weeks to lose 3 lbs, but I'm still very excited. I'm sleeping better at night, but that's probably because of my lack of calories and activity level, that I'm just exhausted. Hi, I'm Carole Baskin and I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. These are my views and opinions. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/ I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet. No doubt you've heard about numerology, the study of the influence of numbers on your life and destiny. But chances are you've never heard about ASTRONUMEROLOGY! That is because it's the discovery of Jesse Kalsi, a world-renowned counselor sought out by Hollywood and Bollywood stars, Silicon Valley billionaires, real estate moguls, entertainment companies and people just like you. Jesse has discovered the inter-connection between the planets and numbers. You could make certain assumptions about your optimum numbers that can be counter-influenced by a planet that isn't in alignment with the numbers you thought were favorable. But that's not all! Jesse can predict positive or negative outcomes based on the numbers of your home address, your bank account, your cell phone number, the car you drive, the colors you wear, the partners you align with, the people--including lovers--in your sphere, the investments you make, the months of the year that are favorable to you personally, the pet you own and a host of other factors--based on YOUR numbers and how they match or conflict with these other elements in your life! About VeestroMark and Monica had grown up in Costa Rica, where fresh, home-cooked meals with tons of vegetables and fruit were the daily normal. It’s also where that happy, healthy outlook called pura vida was a way of life. Now, Mark and Monica are bringing some of that pura vida to modern American life. Veestro is about what feeds us, body and soul—delicious, organic, healthy, sustainable, from plants. And it’s fully prepared for any time we need to eat it. Mark and Monica like to think of Veestro as pura vida, right to your doorstep. And feeding your happy makes them very happy.
Although Mark’s background is in investment banking and private equity, his career ultimately took a different trajectory into the health food space due to personal experiences he was facing while working long hours and trying to eat healthy. While working as an investment banker, Mark had trouble finding quick and healthy food options. He found it difficult to find the time to cook, and found that so-called “healthy” alternatives in the frozen food aisle were packed with preservatives. It was then that Veestro was born – healthy and delicious meals, ready to heat and eat. Mark has always been a firm believer in the fact that eating healthy and exercising regularly can have a huge impact on the way he looks and feels. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communication from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Babson College. This week on The ChickPeeps we take time out of our vegan-focused discourse to discuss the wildfires that broke out across Australia causing unimaginable devastation to Australia's wildlife. Evy speaks to Simone Clarke and Lena Aalby of World Animal Protection Australia to get an insight into what daily life is like now for the animal advocates in Australia, working to protect perhaps the most vulnerable victims of disasters. Simone and Lena share about the challenges faced in recovering from the fires, what's happening to the rescued animals and why they believe in prioritising long-term recovery work to best protect animals in disasters. Also on this episode… Simone and Lena discuss how charities spring into action and coordinate their strategies to approach all aspects of protecting animals affected by disasters. Lena shares about the emergency relief work she personally partakes in to rescue and rehabilitate injured and orphaned animals. 1 billion animals perished: Is this statistic accurate and what does it mean for the future of the Australian wildlife? Can these animals be rehabilitated and released into the wild after so much of the land was destroyed? The resilience of the Australian landscape. Why World Animal Protection believe in advocating for policy change as part of their strategy to protect animals. What is the point of saving farm animals affected by disasters when ultimately people are going to kill them to eat? Is veganism included in World Animal Protection's disaster prevention strategy? Is fundraising the only thing we can do to help Australia heal? Isn't climate change only going to make the fires increase and is there hope for handling this problem? How does working with the oppressors of animals help the vegan movement? Leah Garcés, president of Mercy For Animals and author of Grilled, has made it her life's mission to advocate for animal rights by crossing enemy lines and working with the world's largest food corporations to change the system. In this episode she speaks to Tylor and Evy about her dedication to protecting animals from a young age, how meeting a factory farmer radically altered her outlook and approach to activism and how she navigates relationships with the people killing the animals she's trying to save. Also on this episode... Leah shares how the ducks in her backyard awakened her urge to protect animals. How Leah's dream of being a vet evolved when she realised she wanted to tackle the very root of animal suffering. ‘Once I discovered that there was this world where you could advocate for farmed animals, and that could be a job, I never stopped advocating for animals, it was my professional job from day 1'. How having her first child inspired Leah to deeply consider her work and life's purpose. Leah talks about the initial inner conflict of being a vegan working in a welfare space, and how she reconciled herself with fighting for animal welfare. ‘Conversations and empathy do not equal endorsement.' We talk about the fact that many vegans see working with people in animal agriculture as a betrayal of one's vegan values. Leah explains how her unique friendship with farmer, Craig Watts, radically shifted her approach to animal rights advocacy. How farmers become trapped as ‘indentured servants' in the factory farming system ‘Hate the oppression, not the oppressor,' Leah explains the Martin Luther King philosophy that inspires her activism. If farmers are not the enemy, then who is? How Leah built a rapport with and earned the trust of farmers in the first place. The role of protesting in animal welfare activism and when is the right time to stage a protest. MFA's Transfarmation project Leah talks about being a vegan mom and how much of her work she chooses to share with her children. Leah weighs in on whether or not a fully vegan future is plausible. A committed and outspoken ethical vegan, Nikki is tired of the anti-vegan arguments and not afraid to call people out on their apathy, as Evy discovers in this hilarious, in-depth discussion with Nikki about everything from being a vegan in comedy to the provocative but righteous billboard she's just waiting for PETA to pitch to her. Also on this episode... Nikki discusses how she used to be one of those comedians taking shots at vegans. Nikki shares her ambition to work veganism into a future set. ‘Guess what? You don't get to do everything you want. Sorry! Sorry! Just because you like something doesn't mean you get to do it!'. How getting a dog forced Nikki to confront her questions about the ethics of eating animals. We discuss posting vegan content on social media to an unsympathetic audience and Nikki says you should check on her when she's posting a lot of vegan content. We talk about the challenges of transitioning to veganism when you've had an eating disordered mindset. Nikki bemoans the fact that PETA haven't offered her a naked billboard campaign yet. In this episode, Jason provides an overview of the many benefits of a plant-based diet (many of which should appeal to conservatives) and interviews David Benzaquen, CEO of PlantBased Solutions and an investor in many exciting new plant-based companies. In this episode, Kevin interviews Monica Klausner, the founder of a meal delivery company, about entrepreneurship and leadership. Monica co-founded, with her brother, a meal delivery service called Veestro. She grew up in a big family in Costa Rica and moved to the United States as a teenager. Although she and her brother always loved the social aspect of sharing a great meal, as adults, long hours at the office meant little time to cook and prepare a healthy meal. This is how they came up with the idea of Veestro, healthy plant-based meals, ready to heat and eat. In this episode, Diane covers some questions that have been sent into the Balanced Living for Busy Professionals podcast over the last year. These are things she regularly gets asked about food, lifestyle, balance and keeping healthy. This is the last episode for 2016 as the show is taking a break from October – December and will return in a new bi-monthly format with some amazing and informative new guests and solo episodes in January 2017. In the mean time Diane will be re-releasing some of the most popular shows from the last year. Diane explores the most important factors for self care, uses some personal experience to talk about quietening that inner voice and explains exactly what a plant based diet is and how to travel and negotiate a busy life on this plan. What you will learn: Don’t think about work life balance as something separate; it should become your whole life. Take 10 minutes, 3 times a day to go for a walk. Find a quiet empty meeting room at work and spend 10 minutes meditating. Notice how long you spend each day on your phone or gadgets. Set priorities for when you will reply to emails during the day. Stop replying to emails at night. Finish work when you get home and instil an after work ritual to help you unwind. Getting control of your life means to have to remove yourself from the “do-all” position. Take the words willpower and discipline out of your vocabulary. Decide what’s important to you and set priorities. Processed food is full of sugar that will keep you addicted. Choose foods that support you. Stop watching food commercials that encourage you to eat and eat. You can get enough protein on a plant-based diet. Use the following websites to get great plant based recipes; plantpurenation.com, foroverknives.com. onegreenplanet.com Veestro is a great delivery service for people who don’t like to cook and all the food is GMO free.
