Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. New details surrounding Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps have emerged with the release of this official synopsis: Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel's First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic , Sue Storm/Invisible Woman , Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus' plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren't bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal. While this synopsis may be sparse on specificity, it does officially confirm Julia Garner's role to be that of a Silver Surfer, which was strongly suspected until now. Last week, Disney pulled the untitled Star Wars flick occupying a December 18, 2026 release and replaced it with the recently announced Ice Age 6. Our pal Jimmy Gunn is back to his antics providing some seeming clarity on Peacemaker's canon status within his DCU. While speaking with IGN, the filmmaker explained that nothing is canon ‘unless you see it in Creature Commandos,' or is released after that series, which debuts on Max December 5. Gunn went on to clarify that the new canon would include prior events and characters that are referenced in Creature Commandos, which would include all of Peacemaker's first season, barring one scene. “The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of Peacemaker,” The Assembled behind the scenes web documentary for Agatha All Along was suspiciously released via Youtube rather than Disney Plus… While speaking at Vulture Festival, Elizabeth Olsen shared that returning to Marvel feels like a choice driven by character-focused storytelling, not an obligation, and acknowledged superhero films' role in making indie projects possible. Jason Reitman is serving as a producer and a director has not yet been announced. A rebooted Friday Night Lights series is in the works at Universal TV. The reboot is believed to be a new story with new characters not attached to the original. HBO's Lanterns has added Never Have I Ever star Poorna Jagannathan to the cast. Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans' Christmas movie Red One came in at the lower end of expectations with a $32.1 million domestic outing. Winkler's approach to the craft has earned him a career that's spanned almost 50 years as an actor, producer, and director. From his role as The Fonz in Happy Days, where he set a new standard for “cool,” to his heartbreaking turn as beloved acting teacher Gene Cousineau in HBO's Barry, Winkler's range is unparalleled. Now, he's looking forward to helping you find your muse, as he answers questions from students and lovers of the craft. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

This episode has lots of New York and a little North Pole...After starting with some words about Sondheim's impact on Broadway and culture in general, the Bagels enjoy the morsels of Maisel that have been dropped to satisfy fans before the show's February premiere on Amazon Prime. Erin leads Esther to consider the possibility of a Maisel multiverse while Esther recaps panels from November's Vulture Festival. HBOMax's "And Just Like That..." reminds us of the worst parts of "Sex & the City" while missing opportunities for meaning-making, but we're still on the lookout for Jewish content. Plus, some developing thoughts about why the Sarah Silverman/Seth Rogen HBOMax series "Santa Inc." might be getting such a cold reception.

Ok, here we go. The most requested joke/sketch/idea for this show, ever. Recorded live from Vulture Festival 2019 in LA, it's the first ever "Live Oral History" featuring one of the year's best pieces of comedy. "Ford Focus Group" is a sketch from Netflix's I Think You Should Leave. It stars writers and creators Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, along with Ruben Rabasa, who plays a boisterous but endearing participant in a focus group for a car development. Hilarity ensues. Director Akiva Schaffer also joins to discuss the creation and execution of this sketch, from development to writing to casting to shooting to reception. Also included: Someone with only great car ideas. Watch the sketch here. This episode was recorded on November 10th, 2019.

Also included: movie? This panel was recorded on November 10th, 2019.

We have an embarrassment of pop culture riches this week! First up, Amita provides a spoiler free review of the box office record breaking Deadpool 2. The Pop Insiders also discuss their time at the two-day pop culture celebration in New York City known as Vulture Festival. They share the inside info they heard at panels featuring the stars of RuPaul's Drag Race, Younger, Queer Eye and Queen Sugar. Vince Vaughn (@WildWest) is one of the most prolific actors, writers, and producers in the world. He's acted in more than thirty major motion pictures that have gone on to gross more than 1.7 billion at the box office. He is largely credited for redefining the R-rated comedy with his performance in the 2005 hit Wedding Crashers, which set the record for highest grossing R-rated comedy at the time. He is -- and will continue to be, I expect -- one of the most sought-after leading men in Hollywood. As a listener to this podcast, Vince reached out with his production company Wild West to see if we might do a TV show together. The result is Fear{less} with Tim Ferriss -- "less" is in parentheses because the objective is to teach you to fear less, not to be fearless. More details about the show can be found at tim.blog/fearless. I got the chance to catch up with Vince at Vulture Festival in New York City. In this conversation, we get into stories of his early beginnings, how to negotiate, his cold-calling career, and important decisions he's made as a producer, an artist, and a businessperson. I had a blast doing this, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Show notes and links for this episode can be found at www.fourhourworkweek.com/podcast.
