What is purpose? How can we reframe our relationship to purpose to be as dynamic as life itself? Can honoring death be as much a part of our purpose work as building?I'm excited to share this alive, spontaneous conversation with the author of my favorite text on the topic of purpose, Wendy May. Throughout my life, the idea of purpose has always felt both exciting and daunting. When I first read Wendy's book, Regenerative Purpose, in 2021, it was simultaneously affirming, nourishing, and challenging. Most importantly, it's helped me shift to a more compassionate and exciting view of purpose. We discussed the topics of what regenerative purpose means and feels like to Wendy, the process of writing the book, and how she's living out her own teaching now - over three years since it was first published. We also explored Wendy's move to Thailand, where she currently resides, her thoughts on purpose as wave-making rather than empire-building, and the idea of stewardship. Here's Wendy's bio:Wendy May is a purpose coach and purpose activist. She is the pioneering author of “Regenerative Purpose,” which offers a radical reframe of purpose as dynamic and relational, rather than fixed and personal. After leaving behind a successful corporate career, Wendy now facilitates others in the process of deep purpose alignment, so that we can create a world of work that works for everyone.Purchase her book, Regenerative Purpose, here. You can also connect with Wendy through her website, Substack, and Instagram. I also mentioned Wendy's conversation with Sabrina Monarch, which you can find here. This podcast is hosted, produced, and edited by Jonathan Koe. Theme music is also composed by me! We recorded today's conversation about FredCo Eats Restaurant Week with Wendy May, Marketing Manager for Frederick County Economic Development Authority at Jordan Springs Market - one of the participating restaurants. FredCo Eats is an effort of the Frederick County Economic Development Authority to cultivate and elevate the full scope of the Frederick County, Virginia, food economy - from agriculture, through production and distribution, to the dining experience. Wendy gave us all the details about the event that kicks off on January 30, 2023, and runs through February 5, 2023. We talked about the new restaurants on board this year - some are actual new restaurants - as well as the food trucks that will be participating. She explained the different types of deals you can get that include multi-course menus, meal deals, and promotional discounts. Meet this year's participants here and view the menu guide! We also learned about a survey that the Frederick County EDA is currently offering to county agribusinesses to learn more about each individual business and to determine if there are similar needs across businesses where the EDA, or its partners, could assist. County agribusinesses of all sizes, both food and non-food-related, are asked to complete the brief survey as the EDA works to create a baseline of information. Take the survey here. She also told us about their sponsorship with the Farm2Fork Affair - the Shenandoah Valley's Local Food Tradeshow - that connects Shenandoah Valley farmers, producers, and makers with commercial-scale buyers throughout Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. As part of their sponsorship, Frederick County producers can participate at a cost of $15. Learn more and register here: Farm2ForkAffair.com

What this episode is about:Wendy May's Regenerative Purpose is a new way of approaching your writing purpose.Wendy sees purpose as having 4 core elements to it. Purpose is Dynamic, Relational, Experiential and Receptive.Purpose is Dynamic, it's fluid and changes all the time depending on how you relate to the world around you.Purpose is Relational and evolves as you move forward in your purpose.Purpose is Experiential, and rather than being reactive to your world, it's important to be responsive. There's a subtle difference, which Wendy explains.Purpose is Receptive. Be open to appreciativeness and being valued. Notice those synchronistic connections you make and that align with your purpose.Wendy illustrates how you can use Regenerative Purpose in your writing life, as well as sharing how she used Kickstarter to fund the publication of her book. WENDY MAY MOSAIC PODCAST Published author, public speaker, purpose led enterpreneur-conscious business coach, former corporate climber and recovering achievement addict. She did all the things that she was supposed to do to become “successful”. She is a Harvard alumni, with a graduate business degree from UCLA and spent 15 years in corporate leadership and organisational consulting but when she got there, she felt exhausted and strangely empty. In the opening chapter of her book, Regenerative Purpose she share the details of how she started on her own purpose journey. To make these big changes she had to "starve the ego to feed the soul." she had to let go of old goals and old identities redefining her concept of success, and learn entirely new ways of being and leading in this world. Now she is here to serve as a purpose path guide, and process holder. She works with individuals and organizations who have a deep desire to participate in the co-creation of a new paradigm by saying yes to purpose and not just any purpose but the regenerative sort of purpose that is dynamic, interdependent, and cyclical in nature. Boothill Foot Tappers special with Wendy May in conversation with David Eastaugh The Boothill Foot Tappers was a British folk/skiffle/bluegrass band that was formed in 1982 and associated with the folk music revival in the United Kingdom. They were featured in the Ben Elton-presented show South of Watford on London Weekend Television in 1984, as part of the emerging British roots movement based in London, along with other acts including the Pogues. The Boothill Foot Tappers had a minor hit in July of that year, in the UK Singles Chart with "Get Your Feet Out of My Shoes". The band split up at the end of 1985. On 28 January 2011, the band reunited (minus the deceased Kevin Walsh) for a performance at the London venue, the 100 Club.

GLITTEREVOLUTION: Biodegradable Glitter that Your Inner Child and Earth Warrior Spirit Will Love Oh, the joy of glitter! The inner child in me finds her way to the surface whenever I paint myself with this magical, sparkly, shimmery accessory. A playful, pastel energy bubbles up and overflows around me into the world when I’m decorated with glitter. It’s hard to not smile when your physical body reflects how you feel on the inside. But recently, glitter has become a hot topic of discussion because of its negative environmental impact. Most glitter is made of plastic, meaning it doesn’t break down after it gets washed down the drain. Glitter particles find their way into our water system, and contribute to the growing plastic pollution issue we’re facing. Are you one of the thousands of people (like me!) who love using glitter, but want to stay aligned with your environmentally-conscious values? Great news - you absolutely can, thanks to GLITTEREVOLUTION, a biodegradable glitter company. Wendy May initially created GLITTEREVOLUTION as a way to continue to use glitter and stay connected with her inner child, without the guilt of negatively impacting our planet. What started as a small business, operated out of her backpack for her close circle of friends, has now blossomed into a tremendous, momentum-gaining company, with no end in sight. The spectrum of colors to choose from is almost overwhelming, in the most delightful way possible. Choosing between them feels like being a kid in a candy shop. She offers various color combinations and sizes with unique names like Cosmic, Neptune, Venus, Dragonfly, Atlantis, Galaxy, Unicorn, and Mermaid, to name but a few. Wendy lives a nomadic lifestyle and has her hands full with numerous activities and businesses. In addition to running GLITTEREVOLUTION, Wendy also owns and runs a women’s Life Reboot retreat in Spain, which focuses on creating community, mutual support, and accessing a deeper connection with the self, letting go of societal expectations and who we believe we’re supposed to be, opposed to who we truly are. If you’d like to learn more about GLITTEREVOLUTION or her Life Reboot Retreat, listen to our podcast on our website or on iTunes. Take some time to explore her websites, and be sure to follow her on Instagram and Facebook. Wendy, I had a lovely time speaking with you, and I’m so happy you could be on the show to tell the world about the extraordinary work you’re doing. Let us know what you think of this week’s podcast, as we always love hearing from you, Ecofeminists! Wendy May is a nomadic coach, transformational retreat creator, and eco-entrepreneur. She founded GLITTEREVOLUTION in 2016 to provide a better biodegradable alternative to conventional microplastic glitter, while raising consciousness about everything we buy, use, consume, and throw away. She also loves to serve as facilitator and guide to humans who are stepping into alignment with a higher purpose. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
