What does AI transformation actually look like inside one of the world's largest engineering organizations? At Team '26 in Anaheim, I recently sat down with Jason Andrews to unpack how Cisco transformed decades of fragmented tooling, disconnected workflows, and spreadsheet-driven operations into a unified system of work built around Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, automation, and AI-ready workflows. And honestly, this conversation felt refreshingly practical. Jason oversees engineering operations across Cisco Networking, a business unit with around 22,000 engineers and product managers representing roughly $40 billion in annual revenue. So when he talks about transformation, this isn't theory. This is operational change happening at enterprise scale. We discuss how Cisco consolidated more than 85 Jira instances, reduced tooling spend by 54%, and accelerated reporting by 40x while creating a far more scalable engineering organization. But as Jason explains throughout the conversation, the real challenge was never the technology itself. It was getting teams to rethink how they wanted to work moving forward rather than simply migrating years of technical debt into modern systems. One of the strongest themes in this episode is the difference between transformation and migration. Jason explains why organizations often fail when they focus only on moving systems rather than changing workflows, behaviors, and operational culture at the same time. We also dive deep into AI adoption inside engineering organizations. Jason shares how Cisco is already seeing significant productivity gains from AI-assisted development, why organizational context matters so much for enterprise AI success, and why he believes the industry is still massively underestimating how much structured data and workflow consistency AI systems actually require. Along the way, we unpack scenario planning in the AI era, why annual planning cycles are becoming increasingly fragile, and how leaders can move from rigid long-term roadmaps toward more agile operational playbooks capable of adapting to constant disruption. There's also a fascinating discussion around the so-called "SaaS apocalypse," the limits of AI-generated software, and why Jason believes humans will remain central to enterprise operations for years to come, especially in organizations managing millions of lines of legacy code and decades of accumulated institutional knowledge. If your organization is currently navigating modernization, operational complexity, AI adoption, or large-scale systems transformation, this episode is packed with lessons learned from the front lines of enterprise change. And perhaps most importantly, Jason offers a reminder that AI alone is not the strategy. The real opportunity comes from reducing friction, improving context, and helping teams spend more time solving meaningful problems instead of manually stitching systems together.

Every school that has tried to change and failed has done so for the same reason: the system kept producing exactly the results it was designed to produce, and nobody changed the system. What Lake City Area Schools discovered — through honest self-examination, disciplined sequencing, and a refusal to mistake movement for progress — is that real transformation requires a different kind of courage than most improvement efforts demand. Not the courage to launch something new, but the courage to admit that the old system was working perfectly: producing disengagement on schedule, graduating students unprepared on time, and generating just enough compliance to keep the lights on. This is the story of what happens when a district decides that is not enough. Join Rebecca Midles, Tim Hejnal and Meghan Utech to learn more.
While looking around her home at the plants she's lovingly placed in carefully chosen pots, Candace has a realization—she doesn't actually want them to grow. Because growth means change. It means needing a bigger container and more space. In this episode, she reflects on how this mirrors our own lives. So often, we place ourselves in comfortable containers—identities, routines, or environments that once fit—but as we grow, those same spaces can begin to feel restrictive. Our roots want to go deeper. Our branches want to expand. But if we don't give ourselves the space, we can unintentionally hold ourselves back from thriving. This episode is a gentle invitation to notice where you may have outgrown your own “pot”… and to give yourself permission to expand into something bigger.

In this episode, Anders Hansen shares his incredible evolution from performing magic to becoming a respected leader in personal development. He describes how reading The Power of Your Subconscious Mind shifted his understanding of human potential and set him on a path that eventually led to collaborating with Bob Proctor. Anders explains how these insights inspired him to create The Secret to Real Magic, a program that has helped thousands of clients and generated more than twelve million dollars in eight years. He reinforces the importance of aligning goals with deeper fulfillment, and how many people discover that the outcomes they chase are not always the ones they truly want. Business Illusions and the Path to Growth Anders breaks down the idea of illusions in business and how hidden limiting beliefs shape the way leaders think and act. Using the example of a multi dimensional domino brick, he illustrates how the mind fills in patterns based on assumptions rather than truth. He shares the five most common illusions that hold business owners back which include hustle and hype, luck, fear, lack and limitation, and the illusion of knowledge. Anders highlights that real change requires integrating knowledge into behavior and raising personal consciousness. Michael reflects on this idea and highlights how growth often emerges from challenging seasons. The conversation reinforces that goals should be rooted in desire and identity, not just performance metrics. Breaking Limiting Beliefs and Setting Bold Goals Michael and Anders explore how leaders can overcome self imposed limits. Michael shares his own journey of challenging income ceilings he once believed were fixed. They discuss the power of intentional affirmations, identity shaping goals, and learning from multiple motivational sources. The conversation provides practical tools for addressing negative thought cycles and cultivating a mindset that supports expansive possibility. Integrating AI and Human Leadership Anders offers a grounded perspective on the future of AI and leadership. He believes AI should amplify human strengths instead of becoming a substitute for them. Emotional intelligence and inner leadership will remain at the center of all high performance work. Anders also explains why his company shifted from online coaching to live experiential events. He believes that integration and genuine connection are fundamental human needs and essential for sustaining growth. He encourages listeners to begin with a free assessment designed to reveal hidden illusions and offers tools that help shift energy to support aligned goal creation. His message is clear. Information alone does not transform. Implementation does. Comment with the words Breakfast Leadership to receive additional leadership and personal development resources mentioned in the show. Anders Hansen: The Illusionist Who Turns Transformation Into Reality Anders Hansen is more than an internationally recognized illusionist—he's a 7-figure CEO and the creative force behind Real Magic LLC. With over 20 years of stage magic fused seamlessly with world-class personal development, Anders has redefined transformation by making it tangible, entertaining, and life-changing. As a protégé of Bob Proctor, Anders co-created The Secret to Real Magic program, guiding over 10,000 people—including countless entrepreneurs—to break through limitations and unlock extraordinary results. His signature Real Magic LIVE© experience blurs the line between a show and a seminar, turning abstract concepts into unforgettable moments of clarity. To date, this work has generated more than $12M in revenue, proving that transformation can be both magical and measurable. Today, Anders' mission is simple but powerful: to help high achievers create quantum leap breakthroughs so they can live happier, healthier, and wealthier lives.

Leadership demands constant evolution in our rapidly changing world. Are you asking the right questions as a leader? Are you creating an environment where people can adapt, belong and thrive amid uncertainty? This solo episode distills the most powerful insights from four exceptional leaders featured on the podcast during June, blended with reflections on leadership in today's complex landscape. Kumar Parakala revealed how the pace of technological change is exponential - "the world is changing faster than ever before, but slower than it ever will again." His guidance on embracing AI to augment rather than replace human capabilities offers a powerful framework for technological leadership.Drawing an intriguing parallel between leadership and ChatGPT, both respond best to better questions. Like a skilled prompt engineer, great leaders know that quality questions yield quality answers. Jones Loflin challenged us to stop being "busy for busy's sake," reframing productivity as energy management rather than time management. Creating intentional space between commitments allows creativity to flourish.Dave MacDonald's wisdom on hiring for character over skills resonates deeply: "Resumes show what people have done; character shows what they'll do when no one's watching." This prompted the confronting question: If your workplace were a democracy, would you be re-elected as leader? Your team votes daily through their engagement and trust.Michael Lopez transformed our understanding of change management, explaining that people resist change not from stubbornness but from fear of loss. His concept of letting people "hold the pen" by co-architecting change creates ownership instead of resistance. During these times of global uncertainty, creating environments of safety and belonging for multicultural teams has never been more crucial.Subscribe to the Leadership Project on your preferred platform and follow us on LinkedIn and YouTube for weekly content designed to help you become the leader you wish you always had. This episode of Cruising Altitude features a conversation with Alexander Senn, Head of People & Organization at Siemens Smart Infrastructure. Together, Alex and host Nicole Alvino discuss employee engagement and organizational culture. Alex shares insights about his role overseeing people and organizational development within Siemens' smart infrastructure division. Key topics include employee segmentation for improved experience, the role of leadership in transformation journeys, and the use of AI for productivity and innovation. Alex also shares the concept of the 'Rhino View' to highlight different perspectives in decision-making, and stresses the importance of open communication and continuous leadership development. Lastly, the conversation touches on balancing technological tools with human interaction to foster a high-performing and engaged workforce at Siemens.Quotes*" We're in the midst of a transformation journey to become one tech company. And we want to work with the people together to create the best Siemens for the future. And that's why we decided to communicate quite early what is our ambition. But we don't have all the answers. And now we're working with the people close to the topics. We take them on board, we listen, and they can also co-create with us together the new Siemens. This is also a new way of empowering, taking people on board early. But it also creates at the same time a little bit of uncertainty, because people know something is happening. But they don't know the result. But I believe people need to learn to live with uncertainty and it's much better to be transparent with the people and to invite them to contribute. At the same time, they also need to learn to live with the fact that we don't have all the answers. But I'm a strong believer that the outcome is much better when we involve more people, when we listen to the concerns and then on the journey you adapt some of the ideas you had at the beginning after listening to more than only the top management.”*”[During transformations,] communicating is really important, but also then keep your ears and eyes open and create platforms where people can then give feedback. Share what they have read, what they've heard, raising concerns, because yes, we need people who are positive and looking into the change and helping, etcetera. But we also need to listen to people who are really concerned.”Time Stamps[00:45] Meet Alexander Senn, Head of People & Organization at Siemens Smart Infrastructure[04:28] Role and Responsibilities at Siemens[06:18] Employee Segmentation and Experience[10:00] Transformation Journey at Siemens[15:42] Utilizing AI for Productivity[20:25] The Rhino View Perspective[25:11] Final Thoughts and Reflections[30:55] Conclusion and Contact InformationLinksConnect with Alex on LinkedInLearn more about Siemens Smart InfrastructureThanks to our friendsThis episode is brought to you by Firstup, the world's first intelligent communication platform.
