In part 2 with ArtNet News critic Ben Davis, we talk about: environmentalism and our approach to the climate, as well his emphasis on finding a good middle ground between overly dire and overly sugar-coated perspectives on the conversation; Christian Marclay's video works “Telephone” – which Apple co-opted, making their own version when Marclay wouldn't sell it to them – and “The Clock,” which Ben considers to be Marclay's response to Apple and its iPhone, and images' ‘place-lessness' (which “The Clock” returns to us); how he frames the immersive art trend as a question of ‘what's at stake here?,' and how there are many trends that he feels needs to be seen from both sides; Alfredo Jaar's immersive video in the most recent Whitney Biennial, prompted by the very short time window artists now have to gain viewers' attention; the case of the lovably ordinary @world_record_egg, an Instagram feed that both parodied and addressed concerns about the effects of social media on our individual psyches as an artistic provocation; and Ben's own tricky relationship with social media (IG).

World Record Egg is not only the most liked photo on Instagram it's also the most liked post in history beating out the music video for Despacito. There have been plenty of questions asked over who the possible culprit behind this egg truly is. At first, everyone was throwing around the name How To Basic, an extremely popular YouTuber whose identity remains a mystery but he has a long documented love for eggs. More recently, Supreme Patty and his gang of Instagram stars including Long Neck, Wide Neck, A Millz, and more hinted at claims that they were the masterminds behind the world record egg. But there is also another mystery dude by the name of Marquis Trill... We're gonna get into all this in just a second, What's going on guys? It's your boy Michael McCrudden cracking the entire story surrounding this egg, here for you on AFTER They Were Famous.

This week your insider influencer fix comes from none other than, Mother Egg – one of three humans who gave birth to the one and only, world record egg! It’s not every day you get to interview the egg that broke the internet, so we’re incredibly excited to be getting under the shell of our small speckled friend, who took on Kylie Jenner and won. With less than 50 grid posts to its name, it’s been less than a year since the egg hatched, but it now has over 7.8 million followers on Instagram, and humbly describes itself as a ‘good egg’. In today’s episode, we chat to one of three creatives who came together to launch an anti-establishment campaign online, with hopes of highlighting the dangerous fragility of influencer culture. Tune in to find out more, keep up with what the egg’s plans are for the future and for confirmation as to whether or not the egg’s mother is indeed a chicken called Henrietta. If you want to join The Egg Gang, you can do so on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/world_record_egg/?hl=en If you’d like to find out more about SEEN Connects, you can also find us at www.SEENConnects.com or follow us on Instagram, where we’ll let you know when a new podcast is live at www.Instagram.com/SEENConnects.

One of the first things that attracted Kelly Campbell to the role of Hulu CMO was the opportunity to drive growth. And that’s precisely what she’s done with subscribers up 60% within the past 18 months, going from 17 million to more than 28 million. Kelly first started her career in finance before spending 12 years at Google (one of which was in Japan), sharpening her leadership skills and falling in love with marketing. That love for marketing and the opportunity to help Hulu play a role in shaping culture was also a major draw and an area where the brand has thrived under Kelly’s leadership. From partnering with the World Record Egg (and its creators) to help bring awareness to mental health (an idea that came from Nick Tran, Hulu VP of Brand Marketing and Culture), to finding a unique way to advertise in sports. Listen to this episode for more of Kelly’s inside scoop on Hulu’s latest campaigns, how she’s driving growth for the brand and her biggest career tips.

Robert & Russell meet leading artist Gavin Turk. They discuss tailored suits, artist persona, veganism and a lifetime interest in the surreal form of an egg. We explore Turk's iconic early works including four antiqued mirror cubes in 'Robert Morris Untitled 1965-72' (1990) and the iconic 'Cave' (1991) an ‘historical blue plaque’ to commemorate work done by the artist during his time at the Royal College of Art, as well as a 'Tea Stain' (2004) edition that Russell gifted to Robert on his 30th birthday. This episode is released on the same day as Turk unveils a giant new bronze sculpture 'Oeuvre (Verdigris)' at Somerset House, in London on the River Walk. In association with Photo London, the artist is simultaneously inviting the global art community to upload and contribute their own ‘Portrait of An Egg’ to be exhibited at the fair. With spooky synchronicity this years social media phenomena has been ’The World Record Egg’ so this ambitious art collaboration is opening up ideas around social media, memes and the global obsession with recording the world photographically through our phones. You can submit your egg images until early May at https://www.gavinturkegg.art/ Happy Easter holidays everyone, egg-citing times! Please leave us a review and rating if you’ve enjoyed this episode! Back from our west coast jaunt (plenty more dates on sale to come see us live!), we're exhausted but ready to discuss the Hottest Whos in the game. For example: Super Bowl? Anyone? No? OK! How about Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale holding hands while leaving the club? And Halsey's West Hollywood date with a British guy named Yungblud? Speaking of Brits, have you heard that 21 Savage might be one? (Fuck ICE!) And the World Record Egg was cracked. (Fuck EGG!) Plus, why Caitlyn Jenner can't launch a skincare line because of her dang daughters, and Liam Payne and Naomi Campbell are defffffinitely hooking up. Finally, the Fiji Water Girl is suing (yikes) aaaaand Rita should've done the Super Bowl Halftime show. OK FINE WE SAID IT! Come see us on tour! And for more Who? . . . Well, u/dogboobes is nowhere to be found. Some say she's in New York making content for Nabisco crackers. Some say she's in sipping on opiates after a spider bite. Either way, she isn't with us to talk about the great egg of Instagram, fast food, modernfarmer.com, and a whole variety of other topics that occur after a few Capo Isetta red blends. With all the insanity surrounding Instagram's new president, @World_Record_Egg, we thought it was fitting that we revisit an Ep 1 random button, r/weirdeggs, which has since blossomed from an underground gem to a full-fledged mainstream sub. However, because el dog wasn't around to whip us into any since of structure, we took about an hour to actually get to it. Over the course of our Internet meanderings, we also decided to ruthlessly poke holes in the journalism of someone named Chloe Bryan for some reason and learn about the nuances of modern agriculture tending. Don't ever leave us again u/dogboobes.
