#81: Craig Mallett: Da Xuan - Diving into the Big Mystery of Chinese Internal Martial Arts

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 3, 2023 105:22

Craig Mallett (@craigmallettdx) features on the Passive Hang podcast! Craig is a teacher based in the Sunshine Coast, Australia. He was originally part of a Canberra community featuring Simon Thakur and Kit Laughlin, associated with past podcast guest Emmet Louis. He is now a teacher and practitioner of the Da Xuan Daoist tradition. Da Xuan - “The Big Mystery”. It's in the name - what is all these Chinese internal Martial arts about? I had the chance of attending Craig's Internal Strength workshop a couple of weeks ago, a fantastic experience which challenged me on different levels. In this conversation Craig gives an introduction into the Da Xuan school, and the key pillars that underline the practice. Da Xuan is rooted in practice over ideas - something I strongly resonate with. So in this special podcast episode, we not only talk about ideas, so attached at the end is a guided standing practice that Craig has prepared for us. Craig has many fantastic resources available on his website. https://craigmallett.com/ Sign up to his community to see: https://community.craigmallett.com/about Thanks Craig, it was a pleasure to chat and train together! #movementpractice #thepassivehang #daxuan

#80: David Wilson, Oldscoolmoves: Thinking differently about growing older - redefining age perceptions and physical capability

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 24, 2023 75:20

David Wilson (@oldscoolmoves) is on the Passive Hang! David is a movement coach, anti-ageism advocate and educator, based in Toronto, Canada. David teaches at @spiritloft and online. David's challenges our societal narratives around age-ing and what it means to become old. David used to be an English teacher, before committing himself to physical practice. Letting go of a sedentary lifestyle, David, in spite of his age, has transformed his capabilities beyond what he was able to achieve in his 20s and 30s. He spreads a powerful provocation - to recognise how our coupling of ability and age is misinformed, and in many cases, limiting the potential of what people can do. Age-ing and frailty is not an inevitability. Even so, David is particularly nuanced in his message - avoiding “grey-washing” where we present an over optimistic view of the ageing process. We age, there is a natural decline of some capacities - but just not to the extent that we are led to believe. In this episode David talks about some of the main limiting narratives that we can recognise as trainers, students and participants of life. We all age, and it's our responsibility to build a better culture around the ageing process. We don't have to believe that the best days are only that spent in youth. David shares many creative ideas on his Instagram page - and we get to discuss how his values of curiosity, compassion and play inform his practice. A powerful conversation with a person shifting the conversation. Thanks David for joining the Passive Hang!   You can find him on Instagram at @oldscoolmoves or https://sites.google.com/view/david-wilson-movement/home

#79: Stanislav Kazanovich: Building the Movement Freaks community and improvisational groundwork

@stanslavkaza, founder of @movementfreaks is on the Passive Hang! Stanislav is a movement teacher based in Herzeliya, Israel. Stanislav shares his story from wrestling during adolescence, to being exposed to hand balancing from Odelia Goldschmidt, and surprisingly - reluctantly adopting a broader practice, starting first with locomotion and then other subjects via the Ido Portal method. Stanislav has been in this game for over 10 years, and if you dig through his Instagram - you can find clips of his journey from 2012 to 2023 - inspiring for how much the practice can transform you. Stas has been running Movement Freaks for 8 years, and he has been very specific in how he has built his community. Movement Freaks is actually his second group, after he made the decision to relaunch a group class after his first one didn't initially fit the vision he was after. You can see this on their page, that there is something different happening - people are engaged very deeply into the practice, but with a big smile on their face. There is a sense of authentic connectedness, not just in the class, but outside of the class - which was purpose designed by Stas. Stas shares some approaches to improvisation within practice - particularly on the topic of ground floor work, which he is a fantastic practitioner. Surprisingly, Stas doesn't actually follow a prescribed written program for any of his work - he has a unique intuitive approach of listening to what he needs. It's worked for him in many areas - as you can see from his level of strength work, handblancing, floor work, environmental practices. Thanks Stas for connecting with us on the Passive Hang! Stas teaches in person in Herzeliya, otherwise also offers online coaching.   #movementpractice #thepassivehang #movementculture

@tasha.louie is on the Passive Hang! Tasha is a personal trainer teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area and also an online coach. She is an incredible practitioner who explores creativity within strength work. Tasha's ability to exert strength in all sorts of ranges shows the potential of what you can achieve. Tasha just recently went through a traumatic fracture of her spine. She chose a movement based rehabilitation approach, and within 8 weeks was close to back to her previous abilities. I ask about how it happened, what she did after, and how she structured her training to aid recovery. Before becoming a trainer, Tasha's background was varied, from wedding photography to bartending. She hasn't always been leading with the healthiest lifestyle! Tasha shares her story, and her training journey from bodybuilding to bodyweight calisthenics to now exploring various subjects such as old strongman lifts. Tasha has a unique way of guiding clients, providing them with all the tools that may help them reach their desired goal upfront, rather than only revealing the next step per program. It's an uncommon approach which is worth considering. It was a pleasure to connect, thanks Tasha!

Ron Dobrovinsky @rondobrovinsky, founder of @swingitisrael is on the Passive Hang! Ron is a dancer, teacher and personal trainer based in Tel Aviv, Israel. He is an amazing performer, who shares a lot of his own personal process in developing capacities he desires for dancing. I highly recommend you check out his Instagram page. What is a dancer's take on physical development? Ron doesn't take the usual, intuitive stretch here and there approach. He is scientific, considered, and does the hard work over time. You can see this as he not only develops positions such as the W-sit and splits, but owns the movement in and out of them such that he can drop and pop out of them in fast, explosive ways. It's very rare to see such qualities. Ron shares his thoughts on his approach in this episode, covering his own process, but also advice for not only dancers but general movement practitioners. Ron is always clear about the specific application he is developing the capacities for - which helps guide his research process. Ron is available for in person classes if you're in Tel Aviv as well as 1-1 online coaching.  An enjoyable and insightful conversation. Thanks Ron!

Erdi shares wonderful insights on his page, I highly recommend you check it out - with a lot of nuance on the details which matter. You can see it with his radical physical transformation of his own body.  Erdi has a passion for spearfishing, and he shares a few childhood stories and close encounters with dangerous water beings. We also touch on the use and development of lung capacity and breathing, something I appreciate as a snorkelling enthusiast myself.  Erdi shares a number of tips for those going on the online coaching journey, how he approached it and what he would do if he had to do it again. We get very practical here.  Finally we do a deep dive into how to develop the press to handstand. Similar to his Instagram content, Erdi explains his preferred approach and key concepts in trying to tackle this movement. Great for those on the journey, and those teaching other's on the press journey. A killer episode. Thanks Erdi!

Juan Rueda (@huan_lueda) shares a wonderful conversation on the Passive Hang podcast! Juan is a movement teacher in Melbourne, Australia, and is a former Ido Portal mentorship student.  I recently connected with Juan in person and attended a few of his movement classes. All of them have been a mind-boggling experience of opening new doors and sneak peeks of how many more layers the movement practice holds.  Juan is originally from Colombia, where his pursuit to learn circus brought him across the world, to Melbourne and Paris. Juan has recently shared an “anthology” of the last 18 years of training clips on his Instagram, which I highly recommend you check it out. In this conversation he provides the background of his journey, from martial arts, to circus, to the Ido mentorship, to teaching and starting a group.  I get to discuss at length with him one of my favourite topics - “How to approach what topics to teach a student in the broad perspective of movement” - and Juan has one of the best ways of approaching it that I've heard. We also get to the root of what drives Juan to teach and what he is trying to teach - the transformational qualities beyond the physical. We touch on the topic of strength, the romantic notion of carryover, opening the body and the mystery of the fascia.  With the world now opening up, Juan is now expanding his teaching opportunities, including for remote work and travelling to teach workshops. Jason is an absolute weapon who is starting to share more of his insights online and is worth checking out.  Jason used to be on the pursuit for professional baseball, before the pressure of competition and specialisation started to turn on him. What used to be fun, lost the fun. On a search for something broader he set on a path towards fitness before coming familiar with the concept of movement practice. Initially a skeptic, he gradually exposed himself more and more before reacquainting with a lost energy - the concept of play. A reminder of his childhood days in the NYC city block.  Jason shares his journey of how he transformed his body and practice to a point where he can express himself as he desires - which you can see on his Instagram updates as he leaps and pivots in explosive acrobatics. But rather than just the pursuit of diversity and skills - Jason orients himself towards the cultivation and research of qualities. What does it mean to develop a quality vs skill acquisition? We discuss in this great conversation. Thanks Jason! Check out his instagram and youtube for a taste of his insights. #movement #movementpractice #thepassivehang

Daniel shares amazing content via Instagram and YouTube on movement education, I highly recommend you check it out. He moves with grace, fluidity and consideration. It wasn't always like that, as Daniel shares - he used to be a couch potato, despite being a trained physiotherapist. He had motivation forced upon him as he became unemployed and out of work. During that period, he discovered the world of movement, and pivoted his life as he moved to London. Diving deep into the movement world, Daniel learned from many of the best teachers around the world, before turning into teaching himself. He let go of working in a clinical setting as a physio, and moved into movement teaching full time just a couple of years ago - at the height of the pandemic. His inspiration comes from childhood, when seeing JCVD doing the middle splits over the chairs. Elia has worked out many ways of flexibility development, so much he has actually written books on it! He advocates for using a blend of traditional and modern methods, and we get to hear what he means by these terms. The great thing is Elia covers different approaches and considerations for you depending on your flexibility type - if you're someone where relaxation comes easier, versus loaded stretching.  We also go through breathing within stretching, what type of floor surface, and the role of hip rotation in the middle splits. Sondre amazes me with all the physical prowess he displays - explosive, skilful, mobile, taking on skills I haven't seen before such as the one arm handstand pushup. It was a pleasure to find out that he also has the training wisdom and ability to teach that wisdom.  So how does Sondre manage to do all that he does? One of the main points he raises in discussion is basic - relying on volume, and not underestimating how much capacity you have towards volume. It's a simple message which we can forget. Repetition and recover. You can see how he uses this to devastating effect. Sondre not only has finesse with advanced one arm handstand skills, but also exuberance in explosive acrobatics.  I also selfishly ask him about tips on the 90 degree pushup, something I'm working on. It was a pleasure to connect with Vincent to share his story and further insight into his approach.    Vincent is one of us - trying to understand flow in movement on the floor. From going to circus school, to cutting up online video clips and slowing down clips to try and learn movements, he shares how his passion for movement developed, and the struggles of learning it.    Most importantly, Vincent is a teacher. We do a deep dive into his approach to teaching floorwork - deconstructing transitions, “feeling” weight transfers, common mistakes (ie.. trying to learn every skill movement!). But the most interesting parts are as Vincent recognises students as individuals and acknowledging them for where they are at, for why they are in it - are they all movement culture enthusiasts? or are they doing it for their exercise, or as an emotional release of their day? Different people require different forms of communication. Who are you, and what is your end context?   I highly recommend anyone interested in exploring Floorwork at any level to reach out to Vincent or to check out one of his online programs.    @vincent_vis https://linktube.com/floorwork-academy/ Thanks Vincent for your time!

Marlo breaks beyond the stereotypical “seriousness” of movement practitioners. See any of her content and you'll get a sense of what I mean - playful, sensual, provocative. It's real, and there's no way of describing other than… it's Marlo. What is it to really practice? An interesting point of our discussion revolved around - embodying a quality versus training the quality. For example, to be light and springy - versus training with a task to become light and springy, like skipping. Embodying the quality so that lightness and springy-ness is part of your character, part of your everyday movement, rather than just when doing the task. Are we trying to acquire lightness - or are we being light? Marlo had to adapt during the pandemic rapidly - going from travelling the globe teaching workshops, to teaching only online. Marlo shares insight into how she structures classes both in person and online - and how she's developed her pedagogical method. Soisci Porchetta on the Passive Hang ! (@soisci_human_patterns). Soisci is a movement teacher at @praksiscanberra, in a former life was a Muay Thai World Champion, and has studied closely with Ido Portal and Jozef Frucek.  I met Soisci last year when I went up to @praksiscanberra. I took several classes she led - movement practice, handstand, longevity, and even had the pleasure of training alongside her during the Capoeira workshop. One of the moments that stood out from that trip was having a meal together with other students on a Friday night, after class. It was great to see that in this community, people were choosing on a Friday evening, to practise and hang out with each other. Most gyms down here in Melbourne don't even have a Friday evening class, knowing that people prefer to go out to bars and restaurants.  Soisci leads a class with gentle authority, where all types of tasks and movements are instructed. Each class I left feeling aware and energised, which is exactly what her movement practice class theme was at the time - “Energising, Imaginative, Presence”. Taking an intuitive approach, she leads the room with a sense of love, care and empowerment. In this episode I get to ask her about how she thinks about teaching, and how her own teaching style has developed.  There's a strong sense of “human first” approach - understanding that as students, the emotional and social contexts need to be considered, not just our biomechanical, physical capabilities.  Soisci also shares her concept of “Lazy Man Training” and origins of her nickname, Puma.  A great conversation. Thank you to @soisci_human_patterns for sharing her time with us! https://www.humanpatterns.net

Aaron Martin (@aaronmartintin) on the podcast! Aaron is a Hong Kong based teacher and practitioner, a self proclaimed acrobatics nerd. “Soft” Acrobatics is a kind of new term I see describing this interesting mixture of contemporary dance, bboying, capoeira, tricking, circus, locomotion… It's beautiful to watch, a movement style which mixes gentleness, superb control and grace into moves traditionally associated with power and punch. Aaron is a wonderful practitioner of the style, and runs the @softacrobatics page on Instagram.  Aaron grew up in Frankfurt, Germany - becoming involved with the parkour community from a young age. From learning how to backflip on the side of a sand pit… to running his own movement studio in Hong Kong, he takes us on his journey. He shares the same curious, ever seeking spirit that I see a lot of the movement community to have.  Aaron clearly thinks a lot about what he does, and how to explain that to the benefit for others. He takes us through some of the learning techniques he uses for new skills. The pyramid approach is a well explained and useful concept he introduces.  For those looking to incorporate more soft acrobatic work into their practice - this one is a great listen! Aaron and I share a mutual love, being the art of “locomotion” - basically - a practice exploring how one can move along the ground and in space. Its roots are from Capoeira, but it's an open container where anything goes - rolling, inverting, flipping, crawling, dancing - using whatever body part as support. We talk about our approaches to learning this topic. Aaron has recently released an awesome new course - which breaks down how you can get started with Locomotion. There aren't many formal resources on this topic so it's great to have this available.  We also catch up on the recent changes in Aaron's life, making an online course, the challenges associated with movement practice, overcoming a Jiujitsu injury and… building a swamp jungle gym (literally).  Thanks to @agrifforama for rejoining us on the Passive Hang. Jacob “Krazy Kujo” Lyons (@krazykujo) comes onto the Passive Hang! Jacob, better known as Krazy Kujo, has been a stalwart in the breakdancing scene since the 90s. Jacob initially caught my eye due to his unique mix of practices - on his Instagram page you can see him pulling 280kg on a sumo deadlift, and then busting out all sorts of crazy footwork with a breakdance in between sets. Doing my research, I find that he has run his own dance theatre company, performed in the circus, showing tremendous generalist physical ability. I then find him on the Run DMC “it's like that” video and I decide… I gotta talk to this guy.  Despite having reduced hearing ability, Jacob overcame this with his own unique style of breaking, building extreme upper body strength to create “footless footwork”. We go in depth on learning techniques he used to learn breakdancing in a pre-internet age.  Krazy Kujo has been breaking since 1992… and is still continuing. We cover his approach to longevity within practice, with topics such as structural balance.  This conversation is a great reminder to find individuality within our own physicality. What might be weird, unusual at the time… may end up transcending the culture. Find your own way of moving. Thanks to Jacob for joining us on the Passive Hang!   @krazykujo

At the time, I was wandering, searching for inspiration. I had found this movement thing and was looking to connect with others - except in Japan, no one seemed to know what that was. At the time I was learning a lot from the Gold Medal Bodies website… and to my surprise, I found out that Ryan resides in Osaka, Japan - where I was planning to go! We met up for coffee and I was inspired by the way Ryan had designed his life, and the commitment of generosity he had to sharing his teachings and ideas. GMB has a whole vault of valuable guides and blog posts on their website, available for free.  I’ve seen GMB fitness now explode all over the internet, helping tons of people discover a better way to train and practice.  It was a great pleasure to connect with Ryan once again for Episode 50.  He shares deep insight into how he approaches intuitive practice. Ryan’s orientation is longevity - and he explains how he intelligently adapts his practice to support that goal.  Ryan is a father, he runs a company, hikes mountains, trains - how does he manage all this? By focusing on “the one thing”.  The one thing that really matters in each area of his life. With focused intentional energy you can achieve great things.  Taking that thought into movement, when the subject is so broad, it’s tempting to pick a million things. But what’s the one thing you should be working on right now? Thanks to Ryan for this conversation. @ryhurst

It’s been a year since the Passive Hang launched it’s first episode. The first episode was a solo episode, and episode 49 is an update from the host. Sharing reflections of my movement journey, and of the Passive Hang.    It’s a special time for me at the moment - I have just finished with my teacher, @tejovra.    I’ve been learning from him for 2 years. During this time my physicality has transformed from a state of fragility to a state of confidence and play.   @tejovra guided me skilfully through generalist strength and mobility development, improved my handstand from 20s to 60s, handstand pushup, straddle press, 10 muscle ups…. sprinting… ballet squats…   But this is nothing compared to the powerful lessons and experiences he facilitated - I couldn’t do any vertical pulling without pain - to being able to one arm active hang.  I had constant upper trap tension in my neck - to where my neck actually feels supple.  I basically couldn’t spread my legs at all and this caused inside knee pain on my right side - to being able to train middle splits without dying.    I have read all about “movement approaches” to injury rehabilitation… but it’s one thing reading about it and another thing actually trusting in a process and doing it and seeing that it can work. Despite these issues which would have stopped me from training before, we approached this in an intelligent way - working with and through the injuries - until when the pain subsided and I came out actually stronger than before.    @tejovra showed me what actual quality training is… before I thought I was training but with no eye for detail. I had to go all the way back to the start (doing pushups on my knees!!), remove my ego and rebuild better movement patterns.   In this episode I share 4 key learnings from my time with @tejovra. High quality basics … are key.  Generalist strength and mobility training sets you up for complexity. What may work for you, may not work for somebody else Learn from other perspectives    Reflecting on a year with the Passive Hang, I recommend 4 previous episodes which continue to resonate with me and influence my practice - Episode 30 - Jozef Frucek from @fightingmonkey_rootlessroot - on the importance of regulating Energy  Episode 21 - @harryowilliams - basically gives a handstand sermon from the gods Episode 27 - Scott White - a practical guide to injury management Episode 39 - @mrconorwild - deep insights into creative sequencing    Otherwise Episode 12 and 19 with @thomashughemerson from @praksiscanberra. @thomashughemerson is my current teacher :)   Episode 50 to come very soon - !  If you have any requests of guests you’d love me to feature, send me a DM with the recommendation - either on thepassivehang.com or Instagram @phaonp   Thanks to everybody listening for supporting the Passive Hang.

A lot of his posts get me to wonder about norms that lie present in the fitness culture. When you see him push over a tree, or pick up a barbell in an awkward angle - powerfully and safely - it gets you to question.  Daniel raises many interesting points of consideration in our chat - the most beautiful being the importance of intention in training, and how movement is an expression of intention, constraints and a task. Under this model there isn’t anything that may be “wrong” or “correct” - it’s all just a matter of perspective. It’s so difficult to see other’s perspective sometimes - especially when they may sound diametrically opposed to your own. Daniel leads by example, at the moment even studying under a system which he is highly skeptical about. Why? If it gets him to discover something new, reconsider something - it’s all worth it.  In addition it was wonderful to discover more of the personal side of Daniel’s own story and practice, where the name “Strongcamps” came from, setbacks from injuries, and why he orientates towards strength training. Lots of laughs in this one, it’s great knowing that the humour isn’t just in the movement quest videos. Check out Daniel’s own podcast, the Questcast on iTunes and Spotify. Nil Teisner (@nilteisner) on the Passive Hang podcast this week! Nil is a multidisciplinary teacher covering physical skills, body preparation, and reflective practices. Nil has been catching my eye recently due to his work around “finding flow” - a concept from Mihaly Cikszentmihalyi - and manifested beautifully in Nil’s own practice - a mixture of acrobatics, dance, floorwork and more.  So what does it mean to find flow? Cikzentmihalyi describes it as this state of complete absorption into the task at hand. I think this is what is so beautiful about movement practice - moving the body - you ARE your body - and that’s it. Nil is a guide - helping others finding YOUR flow - not others. Nil shares his journey across multiple practices, including - the practice of letting go - letting go of competency, strength, things that don’t serve you anymore - to let in the new. The generalist vs specialist discussion continues… but I can see how Nil has moved past this - we get to hear about how he structures his OWN practice - which I could feel he truly enjoys.  Other topics we cover is preparation of the body; specific vs general strength development, the role of chaos and the emotive layer in practice; perception of risk and falling. Glenn openly shares his struggles and realisations through the years. Glenn sits at an intersection, having experience through many modern day phenomenons - crossfit, Ido, Fighting Monkey. On his page you’ll see his recent practice of illustrating - which mirrors the way he also uses analogies to communicate concepts. This makes for an entertaining conversation, as Rich puts it - “Analogies make clear to someone who doesn’t have a reference.” A picture says 1000 words, and with analogies we can paint that picture. Perhaps this is what we need to embrace as a community - creating story, communicating narrative - analogies, metaphors… communication tools, to help others understand this riddle we call “movement”. Not just more static QDR photos (although I do enjoy them).Rich shares his journey of how he got started in movement practice, to how is now leading the Amsterdam Movement Practice group. Rich is the craftsman, and he shares a lot of insight into both personal practice but how he runs a movement class. Thanks Rich for jumping on the podcast. You can find him at https://movementpractice.amsterdam or @rich__andoh. Otherwise you can find him wherever good espresso is in Amsterdam.

The Passive Hang - Episode 33 - Antonio Torres - The Tao Way

Antonio Torres of the Tao Way (@torresjr.antonio) comes on the Passive Hang! I found Antonio via his amazing YouTube channel, The Tao Way. He shares a lot of great insight in training and teaching but manages to be at the same time very entertaining to watch and follow. Antonio is currently in Ohio, but is based in China, having lived there for 3 years. Antonio shares his story of studying under both the Ido Portal method and eastern practices such as Kungfu. Even at times going into a Kungfu school to train 8 hours a day, Antonio still managed to find time to fit in his handbalancing. I think all handbalancing romantics will agree - it’s hard to give up. Now Antonio is making the transition to teach movement online and in person full time. He shares part of how he approaches the teaching process, and interestingly, the process he takes from transitioning a subject matter from being a practitioner, to teacher. When are we ready to teach it? In the age of non-stop information and new tools available from an Instagram scroll, it was comforting to hear how Antonio dedicates himself to the actual practice and the time taken. Authentic stuff, and it shows on his videos - Antonio is trying to share good information, not just more information. You can find him @torresjr.antonio or https://taowaymove.com or search “The Tao Way” on Youtube.

The Passive Hang - Episode 32 - Mark Robberds -The Specialist Generalist

Mark Robberds (@markrobberds) joins the Passive Hang! Mark is a Yoga Teacher residing in India, but is normally based in Bali and his hometown is in Sydney, Australia. Mark sits between an interesting intersection, coming as a yoga “specialist” and now studying under Ido Portal, as well as exploring other methods such as FRC, MovNat, and handbalancing. We get into Mark’s perspective of adopting a generalist approach, and what the yoga specialisation can bring to the movement world - and what I was most interested in - the use of the breath. State regulation, and use within static and dynamic movements, inside training, outside of training. Mark does a wonderful job of giving a great introduction into these elements of breathwork practice. Having taught many students over 20 years, it was great to also get Mark’s perspective on teaching and tips on how to become a better teacher. Even though we were separated by a virtual meeting, I could feel Mark’s strength in connecting and being himself - a strong grounding nature to the way he communicated, honest in his view and with a playful curiosity which seems to be guiding him. I think this is what comes out from the content he also shares - provoking positive and critical discussion, but also showing playful parts of his process and practice. I appreciate that in our chat the content matched the man.You can find him @markrobberds

The Passive Hang - Episode 31 - Daniel Lucchini, Pt 2 - Discoveries in Extremity

Daniel Lucchini (@meraki_performance) rejoins the Passive Hang! Daniel is preparing for a 24 hour run - covering the greatest distance he can in 24 hours, a week from now on the 6th of November. The run itself is a crazy feat - and I’ve been watching Daniel train in preparation, all the while still making progress with his handstands and strength. The other week he just unlocked Handstand Pushups - all the while running 100+ km in a week. I was keen to get insight into how Daniel manages his energy and resources. He shares his experience - one of intentional choices, mental toughness, but also very smart training. A common narrative is endurance and maximal strength do not go together - you either choose one, or the other. Another common fear is the zone of overtraining. It only takes one example of someone walking in the face of these narratives, to get you considering for yourself what may be true. Daniel is generously raising money for Beyond Blue as part of his run. You can either motivate him on by pledging to donate an amount $ per km, or a set amount. In this time of the world challenging everybody, I believe it is a beautiful act to do, and encourage you to take part. You can find Daniel @meraki_performance and you can donate on the link on his page, or here at https://linktr.ee/Meraki_performance.com
