British vaccinated travellers head off to holiday in Europe with the easing of quarantine rules in the U.K. The main change for British passengers who have been fully vaccinated by the NHS is that they no longer need to be quarantined for 10 days when arriving from “amber list” countries – such as Spain, Italy, Greece and the US.Since April of 2021, Canada has introduced a travel ban on India due to the concerns on rising cases of COVID-19 variants. All passenger and business flights from India were suspended. The ban was initially in place for 30 days but it has now been extended until the end of August. Ireland has now opened its borders for non-essential international travellers. The UK travel industry has for months criticised the government's strict quarantine rules and last minute changes which has resulted in a roller-coaster of booking surges followed by mass cancellations. Last week the government confirmed that it was not easing coronavirus rules for fully-vaccinated UK travellers who arrive into England from France. This travel rule change hits shares in airlines. As mentioned yesterday, AstraZeneca's vaccine produced in Europe has been authorized by the continent's drug regulatory agency; but the same shot manufactured in India hasn't been given the green light. Health officials say the situation will not only complicate travel and frustrate fragile economies but also undermine vaccine confidence by appearing to label some shots substandard.The US has now lowered its travel advisory for Germany, Austria and a number of other EU countries from Level 3 (Reconsider Travel) to Level 2 (Exercise Increased Caution).Level 2 countries are those with moderate levels of Covid 19, noting that the chances of infection may be lower for fully vaccinated travelers.Travel advisory status was also lowered for Armenia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Serbia.Source:Skift, AP news, DW news. Residents from South Australia, Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania and Victoria were once again allowed to travel to New Zealand provided they hadn't visited a designated hotspot.On the other hand, U.K announced that most of the lockdown restrictions will end on 19th July, despite the recent rise in daily infection rates of the Delta Variant of COVID-19. However, for the time being border controls are being maintained as the U.K is in the red list for most of the destinations around the world. Germany will begin to ease Covid-19 travel restrictions for India, Nepal, Portugal, Russia and the U.K. Earlier, the stiff restrictions had been imposed on the five countries because of the raise in the Delta variant cases. Now Germany's public health institute declared these five nations are no longer areas of “Variant of concern”. Air Canada plans to resume 17 of it's long-haul international routes to 11 destinations this summer in hopes to rebuild it's network. The certificate will allow Europeans who have proof of vaccination, a negative Covid-19 test, or proof of recovery from the virus, to travel to other member states. This is an app-based certificate that gives travellers a QR code to allow them to avoid quarantine in other member states.While Europe has largely lifted restrictions on vaccinated American tourists, most Europeans are still barred from visiting the United States even if they have been vaccinated against coronavirus. So KLM, one of the world's largest airline companies, has urged the U.S government to ease travel restrictions because the trans-Atlantic is the most important long-haul market. Portugal has imposed night time curfews in several municipalities. The 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew will also be imposed in it's capital Lisbon and the city of Porto, as authorities scramble to bring under control a surge in COVID-19 infections. However, now travel to Germany from the U.S for all purposes, including tourism is allowed again. But, travellers aged six or older coming from the US must show either proof of vaccination, proof of recovery from Covid-19 or a negative Covid test result. Both PCR tests and rapid antigen tests are accepted. The Swiss Federal Council has approved a proposal to relax its entry requirements for arrivals from the Schengen Area and other countries. The decision will become effective on June 26, and from then on, travellers reaching Switzerland from any of the Schengen Area countries will no longer have to go through quarantine.Also, Citizens of Bulgaria, Italy, Hungary, Norway, Austria, Slovakia, Germany and Spain can now enter the Czech Republic without being subject to the Coronavirus testing or self-isolation requirements. The vaccination certificates are being issued as a QR code by the vaccination centres, doctors clinic, and pharmacies. Each vaccination has its own unique QR code. We have been hearing a lot about the new Delta variant that has been causing a lot of concerns around the world. But how prevalent is it in Europe? The main hotbed of Delta variant cases in Europe is the UK, with over 90 per cent of new COVID cases in the country attributed to it, but mainland Europe is also monitoring the situation closely. In France and Germany roughly around 2% of COVID cases are the Delta variant. Both countries have introduced travel restrictions to prohibit travellers from the UK entering. The highest outbound of international travel in the Asia-Pacific region will be from South Korea. An annual growth rate of 45% and 30.2 million traveling outbound by 2025. This means that travellers returning back from these countries only by road will not have to quarantine themselves or take a COVID test. However, those travellers returning by flight must present a negative test result, proof of vaccination, or proof of recovery from the virus before their departure. Also, the quarantine free travel has now been implemented for vaccinated international travellers from most of the countries. The US as it borders with Canada and Mexico will remain closed to non-essential travel by land and ferry until at least July 21. This is to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, the U.S has ensured that access to essential trade and travel will continue to take place. One of Cuba's domestically developed Covid-19 vaccines has shown 62 per cent efficacy with two of its three doses. The vaccine by BioCubaFarma is one of five vaccines in development in the Caribbean nation. These countries are: Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Sweden.Secondly, upon a recommendation of the EU, arrivals from Austria, Australia, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Ireland, South Korea, Spain and Thailand are also allowed to enter Germany restriction free. Predict X which is a Corporate analytics software provider has received a U.S patent for its technology called THE STORY. The Story. Launched in 2017, is designed to present data on corporate travel spending and policy compliance in a narrative context with an emphasis on visual elements. The travel bubble which was scheduled between Hong Kong and Singapore to facilitate quarantine free travel has now been postponed following a Covid-19 outbreak in Singapore. The first flights under the bubble were scheduled to begin May 26, but the governments announced that is now postponed, with a new announcement to be made no later than June. However, Non-essential travel from EU countries where the incidence rate is above 500 cases per 100,000 residents during the last 14 days will remain restricted to essential trips.The Netherlands' Board of Tourism and Conventions (NBTC) is in talks to create a travel bubble between the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. The number of people expected to travel 50 miles or more from home is a 60% increase from last year.
