If you haven't noticed, the cruise industry is booming with more ships being built of every size and pedigree. The number of cruise ship ports around the world has ballooned to more than 1,400, and passenger demand is soaring. Despite the increase in ships, the cruise industry has already sold 70% of its entire inventory for 2025. Peter sits down with two giants in the cruise industry, Tor Hagen - the outspoken Chairman of Viking Cruises - and Former CEO of the Cruise Lines International Association Kelly Craighead for an in-depth update on all things cruise. I'll guide you through Viking's new Itineraries and FAQs with Viking Cruise Line in this week's video. We talked about Viking ocean vessels, which have a capacity of 900 guests. Perfect for amenities and yet small enough to have that personalized service. You can get into the smaller, more intimate destinations and ports. Viking has been in service for 27 years and will welcome its 10th ocean vessel this year. . Viking Cruises has two expedition ships and river and ocean vessels. These expedition vessels can hold 378 guests and can travel anywhere in the world. Only 1% of the world's population has ever been to Antarctica, and Viking Expedition ships also go there. They also visit the Canadian High Arctic. South America is visited when they repositioned from Antarctica to the Polar Arctic so that you can visit Patagonia, Chile, other South American hemispheres, and the Mississippi River. Vilking offers river, ocean, and expedition trips. There is something for everyone, and the locations are diverse. You can see the world in comfort. . We then discussed World Cruises with Viking Cruise Line. They just listed to book their 2026 world cruise! A world cruise starts on December 19, 2025, and you are on board for 138 days. Another world cruise starts from Los Angeles to London on January 5, 2026. You board with 900 strangers and depart with 900 friends. Remember that Viking includes all your shore excursions! A great way to check that bucket list! . We then discussed Viking's quiet season Mediterranean sailing promos. Where you can get a better value by booking into the “shoulder seasons” - less crowds, better pricing - sounds like a win! Visit in the fall and early spring, when the weather is perfect, and you can spend time with the locals instead of the crowds. . Kim then talked about the itinerary she will take: Ancient Mediterranean Treasures. This cruise starts in Athens and lasts a few days, visiting Athens, Crete, Ephesus, Rhodes, and Troy. It focuses on ancient treasures and ends in Istanbul. You will explore these areas during the cruise and learn about daily shore excursions! We discussed Viking's departure from Los Angeles, its visit to the Hawaiian islands, the French Polynesian islands, New Zealand, and its final destination, Sydney, Australia. Which would be spectacular. One of the main parts of that voyage is the cost of short excursions, so having that into your cruise fare, where you can choose a different short excursion every day, would be a spectacular way to explore French Polynesia in Hawaii. . Viking also offers a 32-day circumnavigation of Australia, a great way to see this area. The itinerary also stops in Bali. You can also see Scandinavia with Viking! Facts about Viking: No children under 18 are on board. WiFi is included. Small Ship Cruising. Shore excursions are included. All dining venues are included, and there is no charge for specialty dining. Beer and wine with lunch and dinner. No casinos on board. The spa is included on all the ocean ships. All veranda cabins, no inside staterooms.
Jen Hood, Co-Founder and Design Lead at Hoodzpah http://hoodzpahdesign.com/, provides plenty of reasons to watch and re-watch Edgar Wright's 2004 horror/comedy classic Shaun of the Dead. Not only is Simon Pegg cute, but he and Nick Frost are also such a dynamic duo that you might find yourself drawing comparisons to Abbott and Costello, or Laurel and Hardy. Appropriate since, like those comedy legends, Pegg and Frost had their own streak with Shaun of the Dead, plus Hot Fuzz and The World's End. We also get into Wright's Baby Driver versus Gosling's Drive, with some talk about hair and highlights, and the problem with two similar movies debuting around the same time, A Bug's Life and Antz, we're looking at you too. In addition to this episode, and Hoodzpah, where else can you find Jen Hood? Some snazzy fonts https://hoodzpahdesign.com/product-category/fonts/ plus freelance and business courses https://courses.hoodzpahdesign.com/courses/freelance-and-business-and-stuff too. Oh, and you may find her on one of those Viking Cruises too, sooner or later, touring one of Wright's movie locations. Would it be Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz or The World's End? Listen in to find out.

The co-owner and executive vice president of river cruise line AmaWaterways, Karst is a staple at most travel industry conferences, perhaps best known for her bubbly personality, welcoming demeanor and close, personal relationships with travel advisors. Karst will also dive into what it was like when the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, and how she got her start in the travel industry as a leisure manager at American Express Travel, a role that she kept until she moved to Southern California and met Rudi Schreiner, her husband-to-be and the former president of Viking Cruises. Listeners will hear Karst reflect on the early days of AmaWaterways, how she keeps her work-life balance in check and what's behind her unwavering positivity. Today's Destination is: Akureyri and Northern Iceland Today's Misstep- My hostel was self-service, and someone was in my bed. Travel Advice: Be on time if you are on a tour. FAQ: How do I navigate the city bus system when I don't speak the language? Response: I traveled around the world for 90 days, and most of the time, I did not speak the language of that country. I had some challenges riding the bus in some cities; for example, Reykjavik, Iceland, was a minor disaster. You can use travel apps like Rome to Rio for bus or train travel guidance. You'll be able to get to the station early so that you can ask other people about the timing of the bus. In Goa, India, I waited at an unmarked bus station, but it never came, so I took a chance with a motorcycle taxi. Later that day, I waited at another bus station and was unsure where the bus would go, left or right. No one spoke my language. I finally got on my first of 4 buses to my destination. In hindsight, a taxi would have been a better option had one been available. Most of the time, you will get on the right bus, and you will be able to get to your destination. If you're not in a hurry, even better. Enjoy the experience and travel light. Today's destination: Akureyri and Northern Iceland On my around-the-world trip, I had planned to drive the Ring Road in Iceland for 7 days, the final destination on a 90-day adventure. After many months of planning and reserving a car rental, I canceled with about 2 weeks' notice and decided to fly to the northern part of Iceland for a 4-day trip instead. I bought a round-trip ticket to Akureyri, and the airport to get there was tiny, so small that there was no security screening for passengers. There were about 40 people on the plane. Once I landed, I discovered there was no bus service to town, as it was not profitable. I hitched a ride to the cruise ship terminal with some airline pilots from Denmark who were with Viking Cruises whom I met on the plane. The terminal for boats was much busier than the one for planes. Five colossal cruise ships—mega-ships—were docked in town. I met a cruise ship passenger, Kelly, from Long Beach, California, sitting on a bench. She was retired, single, and had no kids. She broke her ankle, and walking the stairs is challenging for her now. She was sweet to meet. The town has only 20,000 residents. When the cruise ships left town, the city became peaceful and relaxed. What did I do those days? It was a great adventure, as I had booked a hostel near a bus stop and Netto grocery store. I took a day trip to Lake Myvatn, the fourth-largest lake in the country. We saw the Godafoss, the waterfall of the Gods. I explored some caves and volcanic areas from afar. While there, I witnessed a long-distance run of 100 kilometers. The run starts at midnight, and I could watch the runners up close and even be at the finish line for several of them. How exciting. I also enjoyed the public pools with the locals every day I could. I felt like a local and explored the hikes and neighborhoods on the city bus. https://www.visitakureyri.is/en/see-and-do/events-festivals/sulur-vertical Today's Misstep: My hostel was self-service, and someone was in my bed. In other words, there were no administrative people there at all. When I arrived, someone was sleeping in my bed. That was disturbing because there was no one to ask for help. The person was sound asleep and sick, and they would not move to another bed. I had five other roommates, but I did not want to take one of their bunks. So, I went swimming in a nearby hot tub instead and relaxed. That night, I sorted it all out. The other roommates, who were from Germany and China, were kind and friendly, which made it all worth it. Today's Travel Advice- If on a tour, be on time. You may need to hitchhike if you miss your guided bus tour, so don't be late. The driver may need to pick up passengers at another stop or drop off others. You can't keep them waiting, so synch your alarm to return to the tour when needed. If you've worked in the travel industry for any length of time, you're probably familiar with Kristin Karst. The co-owner and executive vice president of river cruise line AmaWaterways, Karst is a staple at most travel industry conferences, perhaps best known for her bubbly personality, welcoming demeanor and close, personal relationships with travel advisors. However, many travel industry colleagues may not know Karst's unique backstory. She was born and grew up in Dresden, a German town along the Elbe River, in what was formerly Eastern Germany, under a regime that mostly kept Karst and her family isolated from the Western World. In this episode of Humans of Travel, Karst reflects on a childhood spent under the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, and how the limited travel her family was able to do allowed her to gain an appreciation for all that Eastern Europe had to offer and fostered an early love of tourism. What is it really like to take a Viking Cruise? This episode is part of a three-part series I created to talk about cruising. I invited friends and colleagues Lina and David Stock of Divergent Travelers to speak with me about cruising in Part One. In this episode, we will discuss my experiences sailing with Viking Cruises. In Part Three of the series, you are going to meet my friends, Ann and Steve Teget, of Postcard Jar. They are travel writers and global travelers who have taken over 20 cruises. They are experts in the field and share a lot of super valuable information. This was my husband Craig's first cruise ever, and he thoroughly enjoyed it! He told me that one of his favorite aspects of the cruise, besides the delicious food, the impeccable service, the history, the crew, and the itinerary, was the other guests! He made a lot of friends and had a blast meeting new people from around the world. It is fun for me to hear him talk about it and share it with other people. In this episode, Ken and Gisele share their experience exloring Malaga, Spain, the hometown of Picaso! They turned his apartment or flat into a small museum but there is also a larger museum in the city as well as various other installations. 2023 is the 50th anniversary of his death, so there were a lot of exciting commemorations. We also viewed some Roman ruins of forts, theatres, as well as the beautiful cathedral. The weather is sunny and pleasant, so touring markets and enjoying some Sangria were a great way to spend the morning! Viking Jupiter Tip of the day: A lot of restaraunts don't offer physical menus anymore, so factor in time to download the menu on your phone. If you have trouble downloading a menu, other patrons are typically friendly and share with you. Ken and Gisele Fowle retired several years ago to pursue their lifelong love of travel. In this episode, Ken and Gisele share their experience exloring the Republic of Cabo Verde, volcanic islands. Their last stop on the Viking Jupiter before landing in Africa was Sao Vicente, one of the ten volcanic islands. Their trip was diverted from Senegal because there was some 'unrest'. There was a lot of poverty and these islands are somewhat new to tourists visiting so there was some panhandling, but it was beautiful and well worth a short visit. They are recording on the third of four days at sea traversing the Atlantic en route to Africa. land in Casa Blanca Morocco on their final day where they will visit markets and do some site seeing. After that is a visit to Spain! Viking Jupiter Tip of the day: We prefer carrying backpacks for essentials like airpods, ipads, books, medicines, toothpaste, underwear, etc. Also, if you are in a heavily packed area and people are coughing and sneezing, it might make sense to keep a mask in your pocket to use in these scenarios. Dr. Raquel Bono, a recently retired, highly accomplished 3-star Admiral as 2020 opened, unexpectedly found herself advising Washington State Governor Inslee at the very advent of the pandemic. What did she experience and learn over the next six and a half months? Subsequently she became the chief medical officer for Viking Cruises, as it reopened its operations. What did that reveal, in particular about its interactions with CDC? Her views on Congress rescinding the mandate for Covid vaccines among US servicemen and women?
In this episode, Ken and Gisele share their experience of tourig Rio de Janeiro Brazil from their Viking Jupiter cruise ship. The tour was both walking and by coach exploring the historical areas of downtown, Copacabana, the beach, and more! After the Viking tour, we planned a trip to Sugar Loaf mountain. We did a lot of research and found that the site for the attraction itself offered a must-get fast pass and a great senior rate. They experienced some uncomfortable panhandling, but there were tourist police that made sure everyone was safe - thanks to the policia! Viking Jupiter Tip of the day: use the world clock app on the iPhone! Make sure you text and call friends and families during hours that thye are awake. ;) Also, always check the official attraction ticket sales websites to compare third party prices. We moved to Ormond Beach, FL for a month. We had barely settled in when Hurricane Nicole came along, now we have moved on to Cape Canaveral. We are one block from the beach and we can see the launch pad at Kennedy space center from the beach! It's very cool. Ken's daughter is coming to visit this weekend and we plan to go to the space center on Saturday. This month was a month of connecting with friends and family and launching big ideas. I flew into Greensboro for a weekend to see my nephews. In Ormand Beach, I was able to reunite with an old college roommate who lives near where we are staying. Last week I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ and spent 5 days with my trusted business besties for some much-needed R&R. We shared plans, strategies, and goals as we talked late into the night over prosecco and snacks. Even though we were serious about achieving our goals, there were still plenty of laughs along the way. Last week I took a huge leap and re-launched my Flagship membership 'Bill like a Boss.' I finally took the advice of others and combined my membership and my DIY Billing course into one. I just about doubled my membership in two weeks! On my trip to Scottsdale, I solidified my vision for 2023.
Affiliate marketing essentially refers to an activity where a third party – a person or an organization – promotes your brand to their connections or networks or audiences. Affiliate marketing management software allows you to automate the process of recruiting, engaging, enabling and managing such a marketing partner. In this article, we will explore what affiliate marketing management software is and how it works. What is affiliate marketing and how does it work? As we hinted at in the introduction, an affiliate represents your brand. Your brand could be a product or a service or even a person. Celebrities are individuals, but they are also their own brand. The goal of an affiliate marketing partner is to represent the brand and get paid in return for promoting it. This is the basic give-and-take relationship between an affiliate and a brand. Now, let's talk a bit about what a brand is. When we think about brands, we traditionally think of big names, like Coca Cola, Nike, Samsung or Apple. All of these brands represent a group of products, and some also offer services. Some brands, like Disney or Niagara Falls or the San Francisco Zoo are called hybrid brands – a combination of products and services, but essentially an “experience.” When you take a Viking Cruise or board a United Airlines jet you are not actually buying a product that you can own, but rather you are paying for an experience. People can be brands, too. Perhaps the most obvious example is Michael Jordan. Remember Air Jordans? Nike made millions from selling a simple shoe, merely by associating the shoe with a famous name. In this example there are two brands at play – Michael Jordan the athlete and Nike the shoe company. In this particular case, even though Michael Jordan is himself a brand, he is also an affiliate insofar as he is promoting the Jordan-branded shoes sold by Nike. I could keep going with various examples, but I think you get the point. In today's world, there is are many brand types, ranging from a simple product like an iPhone or a combination of products and services like Disney to a micro-brand like a local boy band—you name it. Every one of the brand examples I have mentioned so far are promoted by someone. If a marketing agency is promoting a brand directly, that is called direct marketing.
