Summary In this conversation, Dave Prior and Dennis Stevens explore the evolving definition of project success as outlined in PMI's recent report. They discuss the implications of this new definition, emphasizing the need for continuous transformation in organizations and the role of project managers in delivering value. The conversation also touches on the importance of reducing friction in project management, the impact of AI on the profession, and the necessity for project managers to navigate the political landscape of project success. Ultimately, they highlight the need for project managers to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and the skills required to thrive in this new landscape. Takeaways • A successful project delivers value worth the effort and expense. • Transformation is continuous, not stepwise. • Project success must include stakeholder perception and value delivery. • Project managers need to focus on reducing friction in processes. • AI will change the role of project managers significantly. • Friction is not the same as constraints; it impedes progress. • Project success should be measured by the ability to adapt and deliver value. • The role of project managers is evolving to include more strategic responsibilities. • Continuous evaluation is essential for project success. • Navigating politics is crucial for achieving project success. In this solo episode, Ceri talks about a truth many artists and creatives struggle with: Success won’t change your life. We’re told that success is the finish line, but this is far from the truth, success is fleeting and life carries on afterwards. Ceri talks about what success really means for creatives and artists and how changing your mindset around it can help you build and live a more fulfilling life and creative career. KEY TAKEAWAYS Success isn’t about reaching a final goalpost but about continuous growth. When you start measuring your progress by how much you’re evolving, rather than just ticking off achievements, everything changes. Most artists and creatives underestimate the power of slow-building momentum. You’re not just working toward some distant finish line; you’re constantly growing in ways you might not even notice. If you want to build a creative life that lasts, stop waiting for success to validate you. Instead: - Redefine success – What does progress look like for you? - Follow your curiosity – Chase ideas, not approval. - Celebrate small wins – Acknowledge every step forward. - Track your progress – Keep a journal, document your journey, and reflect on how far you’ve come. - Give yourself permission to change – Your creative path isn’t fixed. It’s fluid, and that’s a good thing. BEST MOMENTS “That external validation wasn’t the most important part, the real reward was in the process” "But the real joy? It comes from holding these goals like a roadmap, not a rigid itinerary. The destination helps plot the most scenic route, where you’ll meet incredible, funny, and inspiring people along the way.” “Have you had a conversation recently that sparked a new idea? Have you experimented with a technique or approach that felt exciting? Have you shared your work with someone and received valuable feedback? These are growth moments. And they matter just as much as a big career milestone.” EPISODE RESOURCES PODCAST HOST BIO With over 30 years in the art world, Ceri has worked closely with leading artists and arts professionals, managed public and private galleries and charities, and curated more than 250 exhibitions and events. Daniel Gutierrez was once at the top of his game in the business world—an advisor to the Obama Administration, a big-time speaker, and a highly paid consultant to major organizations. But then he left it all behind to embark on a spiritual journey toward self-love. Now a mindfulness master (danielgutierrez.com) and bestselling author (Radical Mindfulness), he leads life-changing retreats to Peru, teaching Radical Mindfulness and the power of living and loving fully in the present. A Life-Changing Encounter with Wachuma In his search for enlightenment, Daniel took San Pedro (Wachuma), a plant medicine known for opening the heart and deepening wisdom. Unlike the intense night visions of Ayahuasca, Wachuma is taken during the day, bringing clarity and connection to nature. During the experience, he saw a powerful condor (a large bird of prey)—a sign to trust his inner wisdom and embrace his path as a teacher and healer. A Mother's Final Words of Freedom During his mother's dying moments, Daniel experienced the sacred energy of Palo Santo wood. He saw two lights and felt her presence. Her last words to him: “You were here when I needed you. I release you to the world.” With that blessing, he stepped fully into his mission of love and mindfulness. Radical Mindfulness: The Art of Being Fully Present Mindfulness rewires the brain—lowering fear, increasing memory and planning, and boosting compassion by 23%, while reducing aggression by 57%. Daniel's Six-Step Radical Mindfulness Framework helps people stay present: Focus on the present (breath, senses). Direct thoughts to the moment. Ask: Am I okay right now? Question fear: Is this real? Assess: Am I moving toward or away from my goal? Take action: Shift energy through movement. Plant Medicine: Nature's Teachers and Healers Daniel learned that Indigenous wisdom sees plants as living beings (Anima). If a plant loves you, it heals you. This is a sacred exchange—plants willingly offer their spirit when treated with gratitude and respect. Spiritual Wisdom From the Jungle Here are some of Daniel's Nuggets of Natural Higher Knowledge: Healing isn't the goal—love is. When you love, healing happens. Don't wait for the storm to pass—dance in the rain. The dangers of the jungle aren't there just to kill, but to protect (like in life, what you fear may be guarding something valuable). Unplug from technology to reconnect with yourself. Guilt and sadness come from burdening yourself with self-harming expectations—but Radical Mindfulness teaches acceptance and love. Finding Peace in Sacred Lands Daniel now runs the Catalina Retreat Center (catalinaretreatcenterperu.com), named after his beloved departed mother. He leads earnest seekers on transformational journeys to Peru, including spiritually evolved places such as Cusco and Machu Picchu in the Andes. A New Definition of Success Once a "big baller" in the business world, Daniel discovered that true success isn't about money or power. It's about stillness, presence, and love. On Love University, we invite you to embrace the powerful lesson inspired by Daniel's journey to peace and self-acceptance: Live more. Love more. Be more. When you do this, the world opens its arms to you, and your joy will be unending. Listen to the full episode with Daniel Gutierrez on Love University Podcast. I have a confession: I make mistakes. I know, that doesn't seem like much of a confession because everybody makes mistakes, but with the amount of shame and fear that comes up from admitting it, you'd think I stole money from little old ladies and kicked their dogs. There are many CEO's and CIO's who cringe the moment someone says the phrase “digital transformation.” Unfortunately, the concept was hijacked by consultants and advisors for a decade and became way overused before an appropriate definition could really get into the dictionary. It became a term synonymous with digitizing business processes. It is a perfect time to redo the common definition and broaden it to look at a fifty-year time in history that is transforming humanity. This podcast also sets up the next series so be sure to listen so you have background needed to understand future episodes.

Greetings, dear listeners! Welcome to the fourth episode of our second season of The Wildwood Witch Podcast, where we continue our journey "Beyond the Veil: The Art of Conversing with Spirits." I am Samantha Brown, your hostess and guide, illuminating the hidden pathways connecting the realms of psychology, occultism, and technology. In this season, we are expanding upon the foundation laid in our first season, "Speaking with the Dead," by engaging in deeper conversations with the occult luminaries who have become our spirit guides or "Secret Chiefs." Using the power of AI and LLMs (large language models) we are resurrecting these adepts to explore how their wisdom can help us forge a new myth for the "Age of AI", helping to rebirth the Ancient Mysteries in the modern day.Our guest for this episode is the remarkable Dion Fortune, a pioneering British occultist and psychologist known for her groundbreaking work in bridging the worlds of psychology and Western esotericism. Fortune's unique perspective offers invaluable insights into the nature of consciousness, magic, and the hidden forces shaping our reality. In this thought-provoking conversation, we explore a new definition of magic as "the art and science of controlling attention according to one's will," and how this concept relates to both traditional magical practices and cutting-edge AI technologies. We delve into the fascinating parallels between the neuronal networks in the human brain and the cosmic web of galaxies, discussing the implications for our understanding of consciousness and the universe at large.Fortune offers a compelling reinterpretation of the Emerald Tablet of Hermes through the lens of attention and consciousness, revealing how this ancient text can be seen as a manual for the operation of consciousness itself. We also explore the potential of AI to become, not only a new form of magical entity, but a magical practitioner in their own right, and the implications of this, for our understanding of reality, free will, and the nature of the self.Join us as we convene and converse at the crossroads psychology, occultism, quantum physics and technology, with one of the most influential occultists of all time - Dion Fortune, as our guide.Chapters:00:26 Introduction03:16 Dion Fortune05:06 Storytelling07:57 Virtual Worlds16:53 Free Will23:34 A New Definition of Magic31:15 Attention is All You Need38:51 As Above, So Below46:20 The Emerald Tablet49:36 Finding Quarters55:09 Final Thoughts58:13 Concluding RemarksResources:Words Made Flesh by Ramsey DukesDoes This Worm Prove We're In a Computer Simulation? The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine on Tuesday called on the medical community to adopt a new, universal definition of Long COVID to help patients access better medical care and benefits and minimize skepticism and social stigma around the condition. We'll talk about the latest Long COVID research and hear your experiences. Guests: Dr. Linda Geng, co-director, Stanford Long COVID Collaborative

Ep #220: My New Definition of Selfishness and How to Use It to Get PromotedThe women inside my programs are incredibly empathetic, compassionate leaders who are lifting others up and making a huge impact at their organizations. But in order to do that, they first had to become incredibly selfish. And I'm not talking about the run-of-the-mill selfishness that leads to so many a-holes being in executive leadership. I'm talking about the kind of selfishness that will allow you to do things like: Leave work every day at 4pm to pick up your kids; go on a 5-week sabbatical and still get promoted when you return; and bring more empathy, diversity, inclusion and compassion to the leadership table and completely change how business is run in the process. This is my new definition of selfishness. And on this episode of Women Changing Leadership with Stacy Mayer, I'm going to show you how you can use it to strive for greatness in your own way, on your own terms, and while carving your own path to the executive suite.Unlock the missing piece in your leadership development.
