Third Sunday in Lent The Collect: Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Old Testament: Exodus 20:1-17 1Then God spoke all these words: 2I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;3you shall have no other gods before me. 4You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me, 6but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments. 7You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.8Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work. 10But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns.11For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it. 12Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. 13You shall not murder.14You shall not commit adultery. 15You shall not steal. 16You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 17You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. Psalm: Psalm 19 1 The heavens declare the glory of God, *        and the firmament shows his handiwork. 2 One day tells its tale to another, *        and one night imparts knowledge to another. 3 Although they have no words or language, *        and their voices are not heard, 4 Their sound has gone out into all lands, *        and their message to the ends of the world. 5 In the deep has he set a pavilion for the sun; *        it comes forth like a bridegroom out of his chamber;        it rejoices like a champion to run its course. 6 It goes forth from the uttermost edge of the heavens    and runs about to the end of it again; *        nothing is hidden from its burning heat. 7 The law of the Lord is perfect                               and revives the soul; *        the testimony of the Lord is sure                               and gives wisdom to the innocent. 8 The statutes of the Lord are just                               and rejoice the heart; *        the commandment of the Lord is clear                               and gives light to the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean                               and endures for ever; *        the judgments of the Lord are true                               and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold,                               more than much fine gold, *        sweeter far than honey,                               than honey in the comb. 11 By them also is your servant enlightened, *        and in keeping them there is great reward. 12 Who can tell how often he offends? *        cleanse me from my secret faults. 13 Above all, keep your servant from presumptuous sins;     let them not get dominion over me; *        then shall I be whole and sound,        and innocent of a great offense. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my                               heart be acceptable in your sight, *        O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Epistle: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 18For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.” 20Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save those who believe. 22For Jews demand signs and Greeks desire wisdom, 23but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength. Gospel: John 2:13-22 13The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.14In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. 15Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16He told those who were selling the doves, “Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father's house a marketplace!” 17His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”18The Jews then said to him, “What sign can you show us for doing this?”19Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20The Jews then said, “This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?”21But he was speaking of the temple of his body. 22After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

Episode 06 was first recorded on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. It features a conversation with Pastor Sam Fink, who took two Triads through the very first cohort of the Disciple Like You Mean It online training. 0:00-13:22After a brief introduction and opening prayer, you'll hear a little of Pastor Sam Fink's story and what brought him to launch a couple of Disciple Like You Mean It Triads in his first year at a new congregation. 13:23-30:58 Then we'll look at one of concepts from the course called Non-Judgmental Noticing. We'll talk about the Stop, Drop, and Roll method for noticing your emotions with Jesus. Then Sam will share a personal example (17:38), a parenting story (22:10), and a story of interacting with a church visitor (27:21). In each case, Non-Judgmental Noticing play a key roll in the encounter. 30:58-38:44With the season of Christmas upon us, we'll take some time to wonder about how Non-Judgmental Noticing could be a tool you might use this holiday season as you spend time with people you don't typically get to see during the year. 38:35-endBefore we are done, we'll get final thoughts from a member of our Disciple Like You Mean It Community and Pastor Sam closes us with prayer. 22After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He was spending time with them and baptizing.23John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there; and people were coming and were being baptized—24for John had not yet been thrown into prison.25Therefore there arose a discussion on the part of John's disciples with a Jew about purification.26And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, He is baptizing and all are coming to Him.”27John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given him from heaven.28“You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,' but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.'29“He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.30“He must increase, but I must decrease.31“He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.32“What He has seen and heard, of that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.33“He who has received His testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true.34“For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure.35“The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.36“He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update, (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Jn 3:22–36.

One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.' 19Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.' 20Another said, ‘I just got married, so I can't come.' 21 “The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.' 22After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.' 23So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. 24For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.'” CONNECT Connect with us! Season 2 Episode 75 4/18/22After dewinterization the day before our trip, I noticed low water pressure in the bathroom sink. And I saw a small leak underneath it. So after some research I saw the aerator was clogged. I tried to clean it to no avail. So we bought a new one and put it in. The next day we finally got on the road for our Kentucky 2022 trip.Our 1st stop was in Lititz, PA. A 3 hour drive from home. Remember we limit our travel days to 4 hours. We stayed 2 nights at a Boondockers Welcome location. We also plan our stays at a 2 night minimum unless that says driving is very short or we are staying at a Harvest Hosts. So we pulled in and plugged into their 50amp electric. Set up our grill. And headed over to intercourse PA. and did some shopping. We then headed back to the RV and cooked shrimp skewers on the grill.The next day we went to Lancaster for a little bit then to Turkey Hill experience where the ice cream is made. It was definitely not our cup of tea LOL however for a young family it looked like it would be a lot of fun! We then drove over to the Utz potato chip factory. We took their free tour which was okay. Then we hit their outlet store and bought a few bags of chips and pretzels. Then back to the rig again for dinner tonight was tilapia and asparagus on the grill. So this was our first experience using the heat strip up on the roof that I installed in the air conditioner last year. I'll tell you what it worked beautifully. It was around 50° at night and the RV was kept around 70 to 72 all night long. We like this much better than space heaters because this system heats our rig in its entirety. Previously we were using two space heaters so those two areas were warm but the rest of the rig was cold. Prior to that we were using the gas furnace and we learned rather quickly after a few weeks on the road that electric space heaters are much more efficient for us then propane. And with the electric heat strip we don't have any condensation on the windows LOL. Here's a link to our heat strip that I installed. https://amzn.to/3uUjhsy And unfortunately we need a new thermostat when we installed that control the heat strip the gas furnace in the AC. Here is a link to that thermostat https://amzn.to/3iANi9M When we were using our space heaters we did buy thermostats for them. That worked beautifully especially at night we would put a space heater in our bedroom set the thermostat to 68° in the space heater would kick on and off appropriately. Here's a link to the space heater thermostat. https://amzn.to/3xBaVHO The next day we hooked up and drove South to Winchester Virginia. But on the way we saw Lindt chocolate factory outlet on 81 South in Pennsylvania. So we had to stop and pick up some delicious chocolates. Then we pulled into our house location. Met our host hooked up to their 50 amp. We then headed out to Old Town Charleston Virginia and walked for a bit. Then we stopped at James Charles winery. After that we headed back down to Old Town and enjoyed some live music at the Wine Room. We reached out to our host to see if they wanted to meet us there. They did and we had a great time conversating with them. And didn't get to bed till near 1am. Typically we are in bed at 1030pm lol.The next day we headed to Sky Meadows State Park. Wow. They had the best trail marking system we have ever seen. At every intersection the color coded trails were listed with the level of difficulty. We hiked 4 miles and loved it. Afterwards we hit a gas station, bought our National Park Pass and then an Aldi's then back to the rig to relax. We have the next 2 nights booked at wineries via Harvest Hosts. However we started talking and we thought about the need to make a purchase at the wineries which we usually do a bottle of wine and we would have to drive out of the park to the winery then drive into the park the next day versus staying in a campground in Shenandoah National Park. The next morning we said goodbye to our hosts and headed south. Our goal for the day was to do hikes in Shenandoah National Park. The campgrounds are first come first serve so we decided that morning we would drive through Skyline Drive and stop in at the campgrounds to see if there was vacancy. And there was. We dumped and got set up. We went to the visitor center and got info on hikes. We then hiked to a view and enjoyed sandwiches and a glass of wine. The next day we did a 4 mile hike to Rapidan Camp. This was developed to be the "Camp David" by President Hoover. Then we did a 3 mile hike up Hawksbill Mtn. Which is the highest peak in the Shenandoah National Park at just over 4,000'. Then back to the rig. Talk with a couple in the next site then took out the grill and had a great meal.The next day we headed south through the Shenandoah National Park I'm about 3 hours to Wirtz VA. For the next two nights will be here at a boondock was welcome location that has 15 amp. The next day was a was a cold rain-filled day so while Trish went over to do laundry I recorded this episode. After today we will be stopping over in North Carolina to have dinner with one of the nurses I used to work with. Then we will be hitting a state park in North Carolina then out through Tennessee.So what do you do to help manage your stress? Are you a person who gives people a second chance?  Pastor gives 5 main reasons why we should give Thomas another look. He's courageous He's a thinker with questions. His rugged individualism finds use for community. His belief in the Risen LORD. When Jesus sends him, he goes. John 20:19-31 19On the evening of that first day of the week, the disciples were together behind locked doors because of their fear of the Jews. Jesus came, stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be with you!” 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. So the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.  21Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you! Just as the Father has sent me, I am also sending you.” 22After saying this, he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23Whenever you forgive people's sins, they are forgiven. Whenever you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”  24But Thomas, one of the Twelve, the one called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples kept telling him, “We have seen the Lord!”  But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe.”  26After eight days, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them.  Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. 27Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at my hands. Take your hand and put it into my side. Do not continue to doubt, but believe.”  28Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”  29Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”  30Jesus, in the presence of his disciples, did many other miraculous signs that are not written in this book. 31But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. Preparing for the Mission Field 1Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, a close friend of Herod the tetrarch,Mt 14:1; Ac 4:36; 11:19,22,27; 1Co 12:28 and Saul. 2As they were worshiping13:2 Or were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”Ac 8:29; 9:15; Rm 1:1; Gl 1:15 3Then after they had fasted, prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them off.Ac 6:6; 14:26 The Mission to Cyprus 4So being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 5Arriving in Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. For I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat. But in this way Aaron shall come into the Holy Place: with a bull from the herd for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. He shall put on the holy linen coat and shall have the linen undergarment on his body, and he shall tie the linen sash around his waist, and wear the linen turban; these are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water and then put them on. And he shall take from the congregation of the people of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.“Aaron shall offer the bull as a sin offering for himself and shall make atonement for himself and for his house. Then he shall take the two goats and set them before the LORD at the entrance of the tent of meeting. And Aaron shall cast lots over the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for Azazel. And Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for the LORD and use it as a sin offering, but the goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement over it, that it may be sent away into the wilderness to Azazel.“Aaron shall present the bull as a sin offering for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house. He shall kill the bull as a sin offering for himself. And he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and he shall bring it inside the veil and put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is over the testimony, so that he does not die. And he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the front of the mercy seat on the east side, and in front of the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.“Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, sprinkling it over the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat. Thus he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleannesses of the people of Israel and because of their transgressions, all their sins. And so he shall do for the tent of meeting, which dwells with them in the midst of their uncleannesses. No one may be in the tent of meeting from the time he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place until he comes out and has made atonement for himself and for his house and for all the assembly of Israel. Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar all around. And he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it and consecrate it from the uncleannesses of the people of Israel.“And when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place and the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall present the live goat. And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins. And he shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness. The goat shall bear all their iniquities on itself to a remote area, and he shall let the goat go free in the wilderness.“Then Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting and shall take off the linen garments that he put on when he went into the Holy Place and shall leave them there. And he shall bathe his body in water in a holy place and put on his garments and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people and make atonement for himself and for the people.Luke 10:1-22After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades.“The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”The Ten CommandmentsWhat is the tenth commandment?You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.What does this mean?We should fear and love God so that we do not entice or force away our neighbor’s wife, workers, or animals, or turn them against him, but urge them to stay and do their duty.

Acts 18:1-22After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2 And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. And he went to see them,3 and because he was of the same trade he stayed with them and worked, for they were tentmakers by trade. 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and tried to persuade Jews and Greeks.5 When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with the word, testifying to the Jews that the Christ was Jesus. 6 And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” 7 And he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God. His house was next door to the synagogue. 8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized. 9 And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, “Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, 10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people.” 11 And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.12 But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack on Paul and brought him before the tribunal, 13 saying, “This man is persuading people to worship God contrary to the law.” 14 But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of wrongdoing or vicious crime, O Jews, I would have reason to accept your complaint. 15 But since it is a matter of questions about words and names and your own law, see to it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of these things.” 16 And he drove them from the tribunal. 17 And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to any of this.18 After this, Paul stayed many days longer and then took leave of the brothers and set sail for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had cut his hair, for he was under a vow. 19 And they came to Ephesus, and he left them there, but he himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. 20 When they asked him to stay for a longer period, he declined. 21 But on taking leave of them he said, “I will return to you if God wills,” and he set sail from Ephesus.22 When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and then went down to Antioch. 23 After spending some time there, he departed and went from one place to the next through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. “Woe to you, Chorazin! You shall be brought down to Hades. “The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

The idea for the Museum of Ordinary People (MOOP) started as an idea. It attracted more and more local people and volunteers who thought it was a good idea. A year later, the museum had been built, telling poignant stories about ordinary people’s lives.Ideas are just ideas until they are turned into actions. And the small actions we take can have huge ripple effects.For MOOP Talk: Action, we were interested in ideas that take flight, what can block people from taking action and how to overcome it. We had four amazing speakers who took action and brought positive change to Brighton’s community.The speakers were:Tim Holtam, founder and director of Brighton Table Tennis Club - 00:08:26Jacob Berkson, founder of Thousand 4 £1000 - 00:23:56Liz and Maddocks from activist group #LWithTheT - 00:41:22After hearing from the speakers, we hosted a group brainstorming session for ideas that each of us could turn into actions.If you’d like to take action and get involved with or support the Museum of Ordinary People (MOOP) we’d love to hear from you: museumofordinarypeople@gmail.com

This is the 20th class on the book of Hebrews. This Bible class was taught at the Pilot Point Church in Pilot Point Texas. The following is the outline of the class. Do Not Throw Away Your Confidence, Which Has A Great Reward Preservation of the Saints Hebrews chapter 10:19-12:29 Hebrews 10 32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. 33Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions James 1 2Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 5But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and [h]without reproach, and it will be given to him. Hebrews 10 32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. 33Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions 35Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10 37For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”[38And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” 39But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. Hebrews 11 0ne point, have faith in God and be patience and He will give you all that He has promised. A persevering faith is always rewarded VS. 1-40 Things that are called faith but are not. Faith, is not positive thinking 2. Faith is not a hunch that is followed. 3. Faith is not hoping for the best, hoping that everything will turn out all right. 4. Faith is not a feeling of optimism Hebrews 11 The first and second verses and the sixth verse, taken together, help define faith for us. Here we see the ingredients of faith: Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old received divine approval. (Hebrews 11:1-2 RSV) And without faith it is impossible to please God. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 RSV) Definition of faith in God Faith commences with "things hoped for," that is, it starts with a sense of discontent. 2. Then comes "the conviction of things not seen" aware that we are surrounded by an invisible spirit kingdom, that which is seen is not the whole explanation of life, 3. "He that comes to God must believe that he is, that God exists." There are some who say, "That's the hard part, that's what is difficult." No, it is not. 4. "The assurance of things hoped for." achieved by acting on the revelation of the things unseen. 5. By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear. (Hebrews 11:3 RSV) The amazing deductions & implications and of Biblical faith By faith, we understand that the world was created by the word of God so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear. (Hebrews 11:3 RSV)--- That statement was made in the first century. • Biblical faith puts us immediately in touch with reality. Faith is a way of piercing the illusion that tends to distract us and lead us into chasing rabbits of thought all over the pasture and bring us right to the point, to show us things as they really are. Do not laugh at faith. Faith is dealing with facts. Faith grounds one immediately on reality. Grounds one immediately in reality. What science can't tell us, faith can. How human history is going to end, but by faith, I know. 2. Science cannot tell me what is wrong with human life, what is the reason why I act the way I do, and you act the way you do but by faith I know. 3. Cannot tell me what lies beyond the door of death. Even to the scientists, it is an enigma, a mystery, but by faith, I know what lies beyond. Mystery, but by faith I know what lies beyond. 4. Cannot explain the mysteries of my own makeup, and tell me how to fulfill my manhood, how to realize my dreams, but faith can. Hebrews 11(NASB) 1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2For by it the men of old gained approval. THE HEART OF BIBLICAL FAITH CONVICTION Hebrews 11 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death; and he was not found because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was attested as having pleased God. (Hebrews 11:5 RSV) Genesis 5:21-24 (NIV) 21When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah.22After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years. 24Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more because God took him away. Jude (NIV) 14Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” Hebrews 11 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he received approval as righteous, God bearing witness by accepting his gifts; he died, but through his faith, he is still speaking. (Hebrews 11:4 RSV) Cain believes a lie. – That one way is as good as another Abel believed God and came the way God had outlined Hebrews 11 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, took heed and constructed an ark for the saving of his household; by this, he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness which comes by faith. 8By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. The 9by faith he made his home in the Promised Land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. 11And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she[b] considered him faithful who had made the promise. 12And so from this one man, and he as good as dead came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. 13All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. Subscribe to the podcast: {Apple Podcasts}{Stitcher}{Google Play}{IHeartRadio}{YouTube}

Calvary Baptist Church - Canyon Texas - David Crump, Pastor

Easter Where We Meet God The Crucifixion Matthew 27:33-44 The Death of Jesus Matthew 27:45-56 The Burial of Jesus Matthew 27:57-61 The Resurrection Matthew 28:1-9 John 2:18-22 18Then the Jews demanded of him, "What miraculous sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?" 19Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days." 20The Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?" 21But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. Why did Jesus draw the connection between the Jewish temple and his own body? The temple was the dwelling place of God in rare times when the glory of God filled the holy place. But in Jesus, the presence of God does not come and go. He is God. The Bible says about Jesus, “In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” (Colossians 2:9) Where we meet him, we meet God. He came to take the place of the temple as the meeting place with God. With the coming of the Son of God in human flesh, ritual and worship would undergo profound change. Christ himself would become the final temple. The earthly temple would pass away, but he would remain. Referring to himself, Jesus said, “I tell you, that one greater than the temple is here.” (Matthew 12:6) God met his people in the temple through many imperfect human mediators, but now it is said of Christ, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5). If you want to see God. If you want to meet Him. If you want to know what He’s like, there is only one place we must go, that is Jesus Christ. Do you want to see God? Jesus says, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). Do you want to know what God is like? Jesus says, “no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” (Matthew 11:27) Do we want to receive God? Jesus says, “Whoever receives me receives him who sent me.” (Matthew 10:40) There are times in our lives that we wake up and realize our need for God. We find ourselves in need of God’s forgiveness, We have a need for hope for the future, We go through a circumstance that takes us beyond our limit, we need strength. “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body.” (Hebrews 10:19-20) You can meet God. He is approachable. He is knowable. You can receive his grace and forgiveness. He is within your reach by faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is where we meet God.
