Pronounced “Voyager 3,” Detroit's Voyag3r feature keyboardist Steve Greene, guitarist Aaron Greene, and drummer Greg Mastin. Inspired by the soundtracks to vintage horror, action, and sci-fi films, the trio creates experimental rock that owes a debt to pioneers like John Carpenter and shares a kinship with bands such as Trans Am, Teeth of the Sea, and Zombi. Originally directed by and starring martial arts actor John Liu (The Secret Rivals, Invincible Armor) in his only American production, New York Ninja was filmed entirely on 35mm in 1984, but the project was abandoned during production resulting in all original sound materials being lost over time. 35 years later, Vinegar Syndrome acquired the original unedited camera negative and painstakingly constructed and completed the film, with the voice talents of genre favorites: Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Linnea Quigley, Michael Berryman, Ginger Lynn Allen, and Cynthia Rothrock, and a score by Voyag3r. I spoke by phone with all three members of Voyag3r about New York Ninja, the band's history, and more.
Hoops number 9 Aaron Greene is in the lair this week for an in-depth chat. In the first hour we round up all the latest news at the club before Greener arrives to tell us about the loss of Joey and the return of Jack, the group mentality, high standards in the dressing room and motivational tools, what it means to play for Rovers and his son playing in the academy. Hear about his favourite Rovers games and atmospheres, accurate egg throwing, ending the 32-year wait, Dublin Derbies and corner flags, AC Milan and European goals (and misses). Even Westlife, Noel King and his 2012 Leinster Senior Cup winning goal celebration come up.
In our special holiday edition, our guest Aaron Greene who is a local historian tells us about the Christmas Day massacre of 1929. Charlie Lawson, patriarch of the Lawson family of Brooke Cove Road in Walnut Cove, North Carolina murdered his wife and all but one of his children. This murder has been talked about since it happened and most likely for years to come. No one is really sure of Charlie's motive, and we discuss the speculation behind it. I have uploaded a few photos as well as a link to the FOX 8 docu-series on YouTube to our gallery page on checkmatewithbishopandknight.com. Note: In this episode, our goal is not to slander or demean Charlie Lawson or the Lawson family name. No one knows what Charlie was going through mentally at the time, and while murder is never justified, mental health is the driving factor in many cases. If you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, please reach out for help. Even if you don't think you have anyone who will listen, I promise that you do. Did you know there are over 4,500 colleges/universities in the US? Did you know there are over 200 majors? College Planning Mistake #1: Starting with "Where do you want to go to College"? College is part of the journey, not the end goal. You can get really stuck in a place that will not get you to the career you were born to do. College Planning Mistake #2: A huge (expensive) mistake that a lot of people make is taking one line item out of their long list of interests, sliding into a major, and NOT understanding what that degree means to job searching later. College Planning Mistake #3: Asking, "What do I want to be when I grow up?" Careers are constantly changing. In order to understand what you want to be, you need to understand what all the choices are! Listen in as Megan takes an active roll in her college discovery process with Aaron Greene of IN the college Planning Experts. It is incredible to hear Aaron use the same process as in Episode 2, but get completely different results. And Megan's work is just beginning... Such an exciting time for her. Megan, I am so honored to be learning next to you. Thank you for sharing a big part of yourself for this podcast. I. have a feeling it will help and empower so many young people as they face the same decisions you are. You have an amazing gift with people and I know your journey will be full of love and laughter. Keep your eyes open and your spidey senses on! ;). Loving how IN takes the guess work and gut work out of the college planning process! Special thanks to Aaron Greene and IN!
It's the end of 2020 and we're here with two stories that have nothing to do with that. However they do contain whimsy, unexpected and quite sudden whimsy. With that as our topic please enjoy this month's offerings of 'ROW' by Aaron Greene and 'Standard Array' by Jon Jagger. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/parallelwords/support

As a sophomore he suffered a serious injury to his spleen during a baseball game. He was airlifted to the hospital and was out of action for 3 months. In episode two of the Melanin Pearls Podcast, Yvette and Ericka welcome Patricia D. Williamson and Aaron Greene to the show to talk about the importance of voting and how voting at every level and in every election is the only way we can effectuate the legislative change required to move the needle. In this moment it's just not possible to reimagine the system, but absolutely necessary to do so and voting is a necessary step in the direction of change. Every election is determined by the people who show up. “You've got to vote, vote, vote, vote. That's it; that's the way we move forward.” – Michelle Obama

We ran across an article in https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/education/2019/12/08/college-admissions-scandal-ivy-league-harvard-crimson-education-jamie-beaton/3919491002/ (USA Today) about a company started by a couple of Harvard grads, that's doing more work to get students internationally into the states And they've made a ton of money doing it. But what are their motives? This got us thinking about what we want to talk about in this episode. Where are we, as a country, right now, with college planning, and how we approach college planning for our kids. How can we, as parents who want the best for our kids, make sure we don't get sucked into the hype of college. And how can we best understand how and why colleges and universities cost as much as they do. College planning is something your family MUST do to ensure the best education at the best price for your student. If the National Collegiate Athletic Association will not to allow college athletes to be paid for playing the sports, then they should at least let them make money by marketing themselves. Players don't make any money from the selling of merchandise, such as their jerseys. Or should they? Aaron talks with Christoper Heaney, College Liftoff's Graphic Designer, and recent graduate of The Ohio State University. Paying college athletes is no doubt controversial, but needs to be addressed soon. High school offers so many extracurricular activities, like sports, music, and theater just to name a few. Plus, all the sports clubs that you can pay for. And, if you are lucky enough to have professional performing arts groups in your area, they more than likely offer opportunities for your children to begin a professional track. But what is too much? Will paying for all these extra sports clubs and performing arts classes really help your student get scholarship awards? Or are we just playing to our fears, the "fear of missing out." https://mistycopeland.com/ (Misty Copeland) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Kerrigan (Nancy Kerrigan) During each episode, Aaron Greene, Founder and CEO at College Liftoff, and his staff of counselors help students and families reduce the cost of higher education, navigate the application process, and make well-rounded decisions by evaluating the modern metrics of education. We're deep into college application season, and one of the questions we get is just how many colleges should my kid be applying to? We know this is a really tricky question. Because depending on who you ask, you're going to get a different answer. When you see all these really feel good news articles about students that were accepted into 50 colleges, you might start to ask yourself, "Should my child be applying to 60 schools with the goal of getting into 50 of them?" The simple answer is no. We go over the details of what the serious consequences are if you do so. Aaron Greene is the founder and CEO of College Liftoff. Alex, his wife, is the marketing director. They have a podcast called Affording College with Aaron Greene. The podcast is utilizing their expertise in college planning. And what is interesting about the podcast and their industry, which is very, very young, is how they explain to their listeners that they have a problem that they need to address when they start preparing their students to go to college, financially. Basically, right now we're looking at $1.3 trillion debt in college loans. And with their podcast, they're looking to address this situation to help families get away from walking out of the four year, the six year, or the eight year college ride with as little a debt as possible. Utilizing available scholarships, picking the best college that they should be picking for their student, all mixed in with trying to figure out how much information should they give away during each podcast. It's tricky. But I think a lot of businesses do encounter this when they start to create a podcast that shows off their expertise in their field. How much information do you give away? And I think they do a great job of explaining their process and their mindset of what they do with the podcast. Hope you enjoy and thanks for taking notes with me. Johnny catches up with Shane Supple after Bohs win another Dublin derby, while the lads discuss revolutionary new statistical data that managers have access to – as well as the second and third round of games. From acceptances, acceptance letters, and what admissions are really doing behind the scenes for you and your family, and your student. During each episode, Aaron Greene, Founder and CEO at College Liftoff, and his staff of counselors help students and families reduce the cost of higher education, navigate the application process, and make well-rounded decisions by evaluating the modern metrics of education. He has also forged a debt control calculation to set student loan debt limits for each student. Sara and Micah talk to Aaron Greene, a longtime camp veteran with a penchant for posting memes on Instagram with the #campconfessions hashtag. What confessions do we discuss? Take a listen and find out!
So, should I be paying for my child's college at all? This is another question many parents ask. Many parents did put themselves through college with jobs waiting tables and similar jobs. So why can't this generation of college-aged students just do that? The answer is that, due to the fact that the cost of college has risen so disproportionately over wages, it's nearly impossible for students to do that. And while students can afford to take on some debt, the student loan crisis has become so monumental that it's now affecting certain markets--as well negatively impacting our young people's ability to succeed with their college degrees. So what's the correct answer? Tune in for the answer. During each episode, Aaron Greene, Founder and CEO at College Liftoff, and his staff of counselors help students and families reduce the cost of higher education, navigate the application process, and make well-rounded decisions by evaluating the modern metrics of education. College Liftoff emerged from Aaron's desire to help students learn to treat education like an investment, accounting for the career, academic, and financial factors that shape this decision. It's the million dollar question. Do you have enough money saved to send your child to college? How much do I need to have saved? In this eye-opening podcast, Aaron Greene invalidates this question because "it's the wrong question to ask." Rather, he says, we should be asking ourselves, "What SHOULD I be SPENDING on college?" As Aaron discusses in this podcast, college is a consumer purchase--and should be treated as an investment. Families should be empowered to spend based on what the desired degree is worth--not what the college deems as a set blanket sticker price. But can you do that? The answer is yes--and Aaron tells you how.
