Matt Light kicks off the episode by recounting the hilarity of the roast event, which featured comedy heavyweights like Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, and Jim Gaffigan. Light describes Gronk's stage jitters and Belichick's unexpected human moment, adding unique flavors to the night. This segment offers a blend of humor, behind-the-scenes insights, and admiration for the comedians who made the night unforgettable. Transitioning from the comedy stage to the football field, Light reflects on his critical Super Bowl seasons. He discusses the intense and emotional journey of sticking with a young quarterback over a seasoned veteran, despite the veteran's readiness to return. Light emphasizes the unity and sacrifices the team experienced post-9/11, attributing their success to a blue-collar mentality. He delves into the personal and collective struggles, highlighting that the losses often left a more significant impact than the victories.. The episode also explores the challenges facing modern athletes. Light discusses the profound impact of relationships and family in the world of professional football. He contrasts the cherished memories and camaraderie that kept players coming back year after year with the modern-day pressures young athletes face to build their brands and make money off the field. Light shares personal anecdotes, from his grandmother riding the team bus after a Super Bowl victory to practical jokes and hard work shared with teammates. The conversation extends to college sports, questioning the future impact of NIL rules and the potential disparities it creates among athletes. In another segment, Light examines the current state of football, focusing on the perceived decline in professional and college levels. He reflects on poor execution, increased penalties, and higher injury rates despite less intense physical contact. Light considers Nick Saban's concerns and the impact of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) on team dynamics, pondering if it might lead to conflicts among players. He shares personal experiences with legendary quarterbacks like Drew Brees and Tom Brady, highlighting how great leadership can influence a team's success. Light also expresses optimism around New England's QB situation, emphasizing the importance of good character and communication skills in determining a player's potential success. Light's love for music and family bonding through musical experiences is another highlight of the episode. He recounts the grueling experience of football training camp, where rookies were often tasked with entertaining their teammates. A memorable story about Brandon Meriweather at the Pro Bowl adds humor to the narrative. Light then transitions to discussing his deep-rooted passion for music, highlighting a family history rich in musical talent. He celebrates the musical achievements of his children, particularly his son's involvement in a top-tier jazz program at Foxborough High School. This segment showcases Light's admiration for music and the joy of family bonding through shared passions. The episode also delves into Light's outdoor adventures, including turkey hunting and RV experiences. He shares lively discussions about the challenges of raising chickens and the thrill of turkey hunting in the Northeast. Light highlights the excitement of early morning hunts and the joy of calling in birds. The conversation touches on the camaraderie and shared experiences in the hunting community, reminiscing about memorable moments with friends. A humorous anecdote involving Adam LaRoche adds to the narrative, emphasizing the importance of community and support in outdoor adventures.

Jake Mintz & Jordan Shusterman are back on a Monday morning to look at two big NL transactions that happened over the last few days. The guys explain why this is a great deal for both sides.Next, they look back at the San Francisco Giants signing 3B Matt Chapman over the weekend to a 3-year, $54 million deal. Jake & Jordan explain why this is less good for Chapman money-wise and a great move for the Giants, looking to make a dent in the loaded NL West. The next generation of culinary artisans are changing up the industry. These artisans have a whole new approach to reaching and satisfying the next generation consumer. In this podcast we will explore chefs and artisans from around the world diving into their story and passion. In this episode of Chef AF, I chat with executive chef Steven De Vellis from E3 Chophouse in Nashville, Tennessee about menu innovation as well as integrating 2023 hospitality and food trends into the menu. De Vellis found the kitchen at an early age, both of his parents are chefs and have their own restaurants. He attended a culinary program but attributes his knowledge and education to hand-on training. De Vellis says, “I remember just being fascinated but oddly enough, I did not want to be a chef at first. I had to leave, go to school, and then learn that being a chef was actually what I wanted to do and being told it was what I wanted to do. But I did grow up in the industry and watching my parents is kind of how I got where I am today.” The families of retired MLB ballplayer Adam LaRoche and country music stars Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan own E3 Chophouse in Nashville. LaRoche's family owns the original E3 Chophouse in Steamboat Springs, Colorado as well as E3 Ranch in Fort Scott, Kansas. E3 Chophouse is “all about good food, good quality meat, and making sure that all of our meat is from our own ranch. That's a really big, important part of E3,” says De Vellis. Chef and I talked about signature and seasonal dishes and he shared that using local ingredients and supporting local is very important to the restaurant. He says, “because when you create those connections, when you create those bonds and get to invite those distributors in to try the dish that you're using their ingredients for, it is a really cool experience.” To hear Chef De Vellis share his top 3 tips for menu development plus get the recipe for Bison Meatball and Mushroom Pomodoro check out this episode of Chef AF “It's All Food” or you can listen at Spotify!

The first time I met Adam LaRoche and Jason Baker was minutes before we recorded these interviews. What little I knew about both, Baker for his years of work with Dream Traxx and Moto Sandbox, LaRoche for his purposeful end to a twelve-year career in Major League Baseball, turned out to be the big reasons behind Red Bull Imagination. LaRoche's interest in motocross expanded when he retired from baseball, and after some research on private tracks, he messaged Baker to build one on the family's Kansas spread. One thing led to another, like the cornfield track for Ryan Dungey's Red Bull video, and soon Baker talked Tyler Bereman into visiting the site for his own project.
Tyler Bereman had just unloaded his latest haul from Walmart into the barn at Adam LaRoche's home when we called. The building, complete with a bunkhouse, kitchen, full-size indoor basketball court, and baseball batting cage, is home base for Red Bull Imagination. And that supply run might have been the last time he goes anywhere other than the barn or the event site, located on a different part of LaRoche's property, in the next week. Being a namesake and a creative force behind an event comes with responsibilities. For Bereman, it means welcoming the nine riders on the entry list, revealing the all-natural course Jason Baker of DreamTraxx carved into the Kansas hillside, and competing during Saturday's final. But no role is more important than that of the guinea pig. TB knows how difficult it is to size up hundred-foot-plus hits and doesn't feel right asking others to jump something he hasn't. The sense of purpose helped Bereman overcome his most recent injury, a compound fracture of the ulna and radius in his right arm, just in time for Imagination. Red Bull Imagination will stream as a one-hour special on ESPN+ in the U.S. on September 25 and later through Red Bull's content channels.
Adam LaRoche played 12 seasons in the major leagues, hitting 255 career home runs and nearly 1,500 career hits. During his career, though, he was just as passionate about hitting a baseball as he was serving others, particularly those in the military. That has remained in his retired life, as well as a general heart for serving. That's how he and Scott Linebrink connected years ago and it's a big part of their friendship still today. LaRoche's Foundation, the E3 Foundation, has a mission to join in the fight against human trafficking as well as serving combat war veterans. Recently, LaRoche and his foundation aided soldiers who were involved in the United States pulling out of Afghanistan. Most recently, he's been working with various organizations in Ukraine needing medical supplies during the current war with Russia. After hearing that there was a need for water, Linebrink and Water Mission teamed up with the E3 Foundation to help supply water to a Ukrainian city. Water Mission is one of the only nonprofits producing safe water in multiple cities in Ukraine. They are also distributing hygiene kits to help people stay healthy. LaRoche has offered to match all gifts to Water Mission's Ukraine response, up to $125,000, through the E3 Foundation. "Get in the Game" is part of the Sports Spectrum Podcast Network. From the first moment that I met Adam LaRoche, I could sense that he was different than anyone that I had ever met before. In spite of being a Major League Baseball star and a central figure on The Buck Commander, there was something about the way he carried himself that I had never experienced. Over a decade since that initial meeting, it was his faith in Christ that set him apart and would ultimately form the basis of our friendship. Now six years removed from a successful career in the big leagues, Adam spends his time fighting the global war on sex trafficking as well as hosting Veterans on his Kansas property. One of the most humble human beings I have ever met, he has a servant's heart and HHAUSA is honored to be a partner of his E3 Ranch Foundation. In this episode, Adam shares a funny story about his initial meeting with the Robertson family as a rookie with the Atlanta Braves. I return the favor and share a story of my own of how I missed out on a piece of baseball history, thanks in part to an ill-timed trip to the concession stand at one of his games back in 2010. The conversation then takes a serious turn as we discuss his departure from baseball as well as his work to combat sex trafficking. He also talks at length about how he became involved with our Service Members and how special it is to work with the Veteran community. Our world is filled with athletes who's egos are only slightly smaller than their paychecks. This statement has and never will apply to Adam LaRoche. He continues to pay it forward every day by being a blessing to others and shining a light into a dark world. Thank you Adam. Your work, God's work, is not going unnoticed.

Boyer and Linebrink have served together on international mission trips and worked together in various missions-based projects, like Water Mission.
