Long before the prison break and the headlines, it all started with a gambling debt. In this episode, Nicolaides opens up about his early life, the pressure that led him down the wrong path, and how it ultimately resulted in his first bank robbery. He recounts the events that led to his arrest in Kings Cross, the lessons learned, and the moments that changed the course of his life forever. A raw and honest conversation about choices, consequences, and the road that followed. ________________ Follow us on social media! A man going for his morning swim at Tamarama Beach had absolutely no idea he had walked straight into a Fashion Week runway show and ended up in everyone's footage doing his stretches while models walked past him. We open the phones for Sydney's best walked-in-on moments: an 11 year old walked in on her mum, someone walked in on their grandparents, and a listener in the States nearly walked into an active bank robbery with police guns drawn before realising what was happening and quietly backing away to watch from a safe distance.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this PART 2 episode, Mundo returns to tell the next chapter of his unbelievable story. After years as a high-ranking Mexican Mafia member involved in multiple murders and violent operations, he describes the religious experience he had in jail that changed the course of his life. What follows is a shocking account of becoming a secret informant while still surrounded by fugitives, gang politics, drugs, and murder. Mundo explains how he began working with law enforcement, why he felt driven to help bring down the same organization he once served, and how his undercover role pulled him deeper into danger. He talks about working around figures like Joe Morgan, Alfie, and Sailor, the chaos of double lives, cartel-connected drug operations, bank robberies, contract killings, and the moment everything began closing in on him again. He also reflects on the cost of that life, his Christian faith, witness protection, and how he later became a trainer and consultant for law enforcement. The conversation closes with a deep look at the Mexican Mafia today, its structure, cartel ties, Sureño influence, and how prison gang power still shapes the streets. This is a raw, intense interview about violence, betrayal, redemption, and survival from someone who lived at the center of it. For Part 1 go to https://youtu.be/BjPka7eDvoc Go Support Mundo! Germany holds the world's second biggest national gold reserves after the US, of which approximately €164bn (£122bn) worth – 1,236 tonnes – is stored in New York. Emanuel Mönch, a leading economist and former head of research at Germany's federal bank, the Bundesbank, called for the gold to be brought home, saying it was too “risky” for it to be kept in the US under the current administration. “In the interest of greater strategic independence from the US, the Bundesbank would therefore be well advised to consider repatriating the gold.” Source: zerohedge.com Trump Suggests He Can Send $2,000 Tariff Rebate Checks Without Congress Bessent has also suggested the $2,000 benefit might not take the form of direct cash disbursements. the Treasury secretary said while he had not yet finalized details with Trump, the “dividend could come in lots of forms,” such as through tax reductions already under consideration—including exemptions for tips, overtime pay, and Social Security benefits, among other deductions. On May 10, 1973, a stranger walked into a bank on Main Street in Kenora, Ontario, carrying guns, duffle bags, and a homemade bomb that was armed to a switch he clenched between his teeth. For more than an hour the standoff dragged on inside the bank as a growing crowd of onlookers crowded the street outside it's doors. At 4:12 p.m., a single rifle shot ended the robbery in an explosion that shattered windows, scattered money through the air, and erased the man at the center of it all. More than fifty years later, his identity and his motives remain unknown. In this episode of The Canadian Gothic, I'm joined by Jack Luna, host of the Dark Topic podcast, to examine the Kenora Bank Robbery Explosion. The bizarre, true story of a robbery gone wrong and the explosive murder that shocked the nation—as seen on Netflix's docuseries Evil Genius. For the first time, two of the people who followed the story from the beginning—Jerry Clark, the lead FBI Special Agent who cracked what became known as the Pizza Bomber case, and investigative reporter Ed Palattella—tell the complete story of what happened on August 28, 2003.In the suburbs of Erie, Pennsylvania, a pizza delivery man named Brian Wells was accosted by several men who locked a time bomb around his neck. They then ordered him to rob a bank. After delivering the money, he would receive clues to help him disarm the bomb. It was one of the most ingenious bank robbery schemes in history, known as Collarbomb by the FBI. It did not go according to plan.Wells, picked up by police shortly after the robbery, never found the clues he needed. Investigating the crime after his grisly death, the FBI soon discovered that Wells was not, in fact, an innocent victim. He was merely the first co-conspirator to fall in a bizarre trail of death following the crime...https://amzn.to/49Xb2jIBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

On May 10, 1973, a masked man entered a Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce branch in Kenora, Ontario, armed with firearms and a homemade bomb strapped to his body. What began as a bank robbery quickly turned into a public spectacle, broadcast live on radio as police, civilians, and hundreds of onlookers watched the standoff unfold on Main Street. When a single gunshot triggered a massive explosion, the robber was killed instantly leaving behind a scene of destruction, unanswered questions, and an identity that remains unknown more than half a century later. Our other podcast: "FEARFUL" - https://open.spotify.com/show/56ajNkLiPoIat1V2KI9n5c?si=OyM38rdsSSyyzKAFUJpSywMERCH:https://www.redbubble.com/people/wickedandgrim/shop?asc=uPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/wickedandgrim?fan_landing=trueYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@wickedlifeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickedandgrim/ Instagram:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wickedandgrim/?hl=enTwitter: https://twitter.com/wickedandgrimWebsite: https://www.wickedandgrim.com/

He wrote to Ferry Porsche in his teens and got a reply! Then his hero, the 1960 Australian Touring Car Champion David McKay, would help start his long career in the media. Many listener’s will remember John Smailes from his time on the ABC commentating with Will Hagon and a young Neil Crompton. It became one of the first soundtracks of Aussie Motorsport. JS also worked for the Packer’s and the forerunner to Wide World of Sports where an ‘F bomb’, dropped by a legendary racer, once made it to air. Covering crime and politics in his early years and why he’s never lost that news sense. Traveling through some treacherous destinations covering the London to Sydney and the book on it which became a collectors item. Plus memorable interviews he did with Frank Gardner and why Enzo Ferrari thought Kiwi Chris Amon could have been a great! You’ll be gripped by this conversation. We're going to the 80s for our 162nd show. You know we're all about Hidden Gems and there was some talk about doing Wishamster 2 for this podcast, since we had such a great time covering the original last show. But instead we decided to honour the director of Wishmaster 2 by covering another of his films. One of several he made for New Line Cinema back in the 80s. This guy is not very well known and neither is this film, which makes it perfect for the podcast. So we hope you enjoy as we give the Horror 101 treatment to Jack Sholder's The Hidden from 1987. Elmer J. McCurdy (January 1, 1880 – October 7, 1911) was an American outlaw who was killed in a shoot-out with police after robbing a train in Oklahoma in October 1911. Dubbed "The Bandit Who Wouldn't Give Up", his mummified body was first put on display at an Oklahoma funeral home and then became a fixture on the traveling carnival and sideshow circuit during the 1920s through the 1960s. After changing ownership several times, McCurdy's remains eventually wound up at The Pike amusement zone in Long Beach, California, where they were discovered by crew members for the television series The Six Million Dollar Man and positively identified in December 1976.
