Whether you have been to Walt Disney World many times or it’s your very first visit, there are quite a few special things to experience. If you are not sure where to start, consider these five unique moments at Walt Disney World. The Good Night Kiss As the last guests are leaving the park, position yourself so that you can clearly see Cinderella's Castle. You will see it light up two or three times, and then a narrator will make a very special announcement telling you that when you wish upon a star, your dreams really can come true. While the whole thrilling performance lasts only about two minutes, it may become your favorite memory of visiting Walt Disney World. Unique Character Dining While you will want to be sure to check the calendar for unique experiences like storybook dining, the only place that you can see The Beast is at dinner at the Be Our Guest Restaurant. Bookings open 180 days before the meal, and they usually fill up the very day that reservations start. Therefore, you will want to make sure to mark that date on your calendar. You cannot find unique characters like The Beast wandering in the park. Play Dress-up With Belle If you have a princess in your family who adores Belle, then give her an experience that she will never forget by letting her get transformed with Belle. Each special experience designed for ages three to 12 offers a chance to put on a special gown, get her hair done and her nails designed. In order to arrange for this unique experience held inside Cinderella's Castle, contact the park before your arrival. See Citizens of Hollywood While many visitors run right through Hollywood Boulevard, stop and see the shows there. These shows held at random times through the day are each unique because they each involve different characters along with audience participation. Many of the shows are designed to allow visitors to relive the Golden Era of Hollywood. Take a Surf Lesson If you have someone who wants to learn to surf in your group, then send them to the Typhoon Lagoon two hours before the park opens. Participants do not need to bring their own surfboard to ride the waves that can be up to six feet tall. After a short instruction period on land, participants can ride the waves with two specially-trained instructors. There are many unique activities occurring daily at Disney World. Make the most of your time by participating in these activities and many more. BUT we had decided not to do Flight of Passage because we didn't have a fast pass and we have little kids. My plan was to go straight to Safari. I was SO proud of myself as we walked up at 7:05 (I actually said to my family, 'we did it') only to be stopped at the entrance. Even though the app showed the safari ride was open, the cast members told us that they never open attractions that involve the animals before 8am. Apparently that is too early to get them going. The rest of the park was empty aside from Pandora, and we would have been fine getting there at 8. Cast members said the 7am time is basically just for the Flight of Passage line. Luckily my husband got to go ride Everest a couple times with no line so I wasn't in too much trouble! Just a tip for the rare times that AK opens that early." What an awesome weekend! I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Thunder Over Louisville, but it’s probably in the top 5 things our city is known for, but most people just don’t think of it. We have great things such as The Kentucky Derby, Bourbon, The Louisville Slugger Museum, and College Basketball, but Thunder probably isn’t known to too many folks outside the area. Each year at the start of the Derby season they put on an air show all day and finish it off with one of the largest fireworks shows in the country, FOR FREE. Almost a million people come down for it, and this year we had some of the best weather on record with sunny days and temps in the 70’s. It was awesome. Almost as good as being in Walt Disney World… almost. Let’s pick back up with our day in the Magic Kingdom. Remember, it’s a quiet day (a 3/10 on TouringPlans.com). Factoid of the day: hippos are huge!!! On this week’s show, we discuss a myriad of topics all of which center around our Trip Report for our First Podcast Trip to the World!!! We lead off the show and give our listeners a hearty Asante Sana as we read and respond to their emails. Thank you to each and every one of you that have written in so far.  Secondly, we talk about our trip down to the World together for the first time. We tried to cover things that we didn’t cover in the Field Reports and also embellish on the things we brought up on our Field Reports. There were a lot of firsts for us during this trip which really helped to make this trip special.  We discuss Kevin’s experience with letting Disney chauffeur him around the property. The backstory is that Kevin usually has a car while in Disney World and does enjoy driving around property. Is it a control issue? Could be. We also go into Danny’s take on Disney transportation in reference to DVC privileges. HAHAHA! Next we offer our first impressions of the Art of Animation Resort, a place neither of us have ever stayed. We then talk about our stay at the Bay Lake Towers, specifically the showers. Then, Danny relates his experience watching the Norway movie for the first time. We got stuck on Primeval Whirl!!! Guano Joe and The Flights of Wonder: love this show and you would be remiss if you missed it. We give a state of the Soarin’ attraction address. We visit Splitsville and give our first impressions of it. I took Danny to the Top of the World lounge at Bay Lake Towers. Kevin finally gets in to the Be Our Guest Restaurant and has a great experience. Lastly, we talk about the Disneyland App. If you are looking for a good mobile Disney fix, this app is definitely the way to go. It reminds us of the Walt Disney World Explorer computer game.  Finally, we started a new thing on our show.
