The Islanders did well to get themselves back into playoff contention and the teams around them have done their part by fumbling points in the standings to keep the Islanders around. But the Isles have failed at every turn to seize that final wild card spot and create space between themselves and their competitors. This week Dan Rosen of NHL.com joins Sean and Stefen to look closer at the Eastern playoff race and how things might turn out as we enter the last ten games of the season.Follow HNiNY on all social media platforms at @hockeynightnySubscribe to our Patreon for exclusive videos, columns, perspectives, and more!Sponsored by Centre Station Bar & GrillSponsored by Main Street Board Game CafeSponsored by Raiser and KenniffSponsored by Tovi HockeyRecorded at Floored MediaCatch Stefen's coverage on the Isles beat for The Hockey NewsSubscribe to our friends at IslesFix newsletter!

The NHL is about to break for the 4 Nations Face-Off and everyone in Islanders Country seems to be wondering what Lou Lamoriello may have up his sleeve between now and the March 7th trade deadline. Are they close enough in the standings to contend? Will they sell? Will they stand pat? Will they buy..? Who or what is he willing to deal? Only Lamoriello knows. Before attention shifts to international hockey, the Islanders also had two tough matchups in Winnipeg and Minnesota to deal with. In this episode of the NHL Wraparound podcast, hosts Neil Smith and Vic Morren bring their extensive NHL expertise to analyze the Atlantic Division. Covering team developments, trades, free agent movements, and key player performances, the focus is on the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Additionally, they explore the challenges faced by the Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators, and Montreal Canadiens in breaking through to the upper tier of the Division. The episode also honors the memory of significant hockey figures lost to ALS, including Ottawa Senators assistant coach Bob Jones, and highlights the importance of team building and development through services offered by their sponsor, the Game7 Group.IN THIS EPISODE: [00:36] Summer Cooler Edition Overview[00:40] Atlantic Division Breakdown[02:28] Florida Panthers Offseason Moves and Analysis[08:33] Boston Bruins Roster Changes and Expectations[14:39] Toronto Maple Leafs Core Four and Offseason Moves[23:14] Tampa Bay Lightning Stamkos Departure and Roster Turnover[30:15] Analyzing the Top Four in the Atlantic Division[31:43] Atlantic Division Bottom Four[32:23] Detroit Red Wings Key Signings and Losses[38:15] Buffalo Sabres Coaching Changes and Roster Moves[43:42] Ottawa Senators New Coach and Roster Updates[48:17] Montreal Canadiens Rebuilding and Key Acquisitions[56:01] In Memoriam Tribute to Bob Jones[58:07] Conclusion and What's Next KEY TAKEAWAYS: The Panthers face significant changes in their defense lineup with the loss of key players like Brandon Montour and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The success of their new signings, including the Boqvist brothers, will be crucial in maintaining their defensive strength. The Bruins are adapting to life without long-time center Patrice Bergeron. The acquisition of Elias Lindholm is seen as a critical move to fill this gap, but the effectiveness of this replacement remains to be seen. The Leafs continue to be under immense pressure to perform in the playoffs. With their core four (Matthews, Nylander, Tavares, Marner) taking up a significant portion of the salary cap, the team's success hinges on these players delivering results this season.RESOURCE LINKS Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgBj1LV0-DMfBhcRPSJZLjAX: https://twitter.com/NHLWraparoundNeil Smith: https://twitter.com/NYCNeilVic Morren: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vic-morren-7038737/NHL Wraparound Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nhlwraparound/NHL Wraparound Tik Tok :https://www.tiktok.com/@nhlwraparoundNHL Wraparound Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555451139787SPONSORSHIP:MeiGray is your source for Game-Worn jerseys. Timo Meier made his New Jersey Devils debut against the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena and didn't disappoint. He was able to score the first goal of the game and made sure to assert himself throughout the night. In addition to Meier's big night, Jesper Boqvist was able to score twice and Nico Hischier delivered in the clutch once again. However, it wasn't the best showing against one of the worst teams in the NHL. Vitek Vanecek and the defense didn't look sharp at all. Nonetheless, it was still an eventful night.
