When five women in the Topeka Correctional Facility wrote to singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge describing their lives before and during their incarceration, they never imagined they'd be muses for her. The new two-part documentary, “Melissa Etheridge: I'm Not Broken” (now streaming on Paramount+) follows her journey from writing a new song inspired by those letters to performing it at a live concert at the prison. Melissa talks with me about how her performance inspired change at the Topeka facility, how her family's love held her together in the wake of her son Beckett's death, and how sometimes a deadline is the greatest form of artistic inspiration. The Last Handful of Clover - a supernatural thriller by Wess Mongo Jolley
The Last Handful of Clover: Book Three – The Stone in the Stream Chapter 24: A Good Man But a Broken One * * * ABOUT THE STORY: THREE DAYS AFTER HE WAS MURDERED, RICHARD PRATT BEGAN TO FEEL MUCH BETTER... A seemingly random act of violence propels Professor Richard Pratt into The Hereafter. It is a strange, muted, netherworld of the dead -- a world in which he is forced to bear witness to the loss and suffering of the man he left behind, and to the rapid demise of the city he called home. And when the other denizens of his ghostly realm begin to enact a brutal revenge on the world of the living, it is only Richard Pratt that can save them. With the help of a barefoot 15-year-old boy from the old West and an ancient Goshute wise woman, Richard Pratt sets out to save the man he loves, Salt Lake City, and his own wounded soul. Together, they must face a ferocious enemy bent on the complete destruction of a great American city. An enemy with his fingers deep in Richard's shameful past. The Last Handful of Clover is a sweeping supernatural thriller about love, loss, regret, and redemption. It is a novel of terror, in which one man is called upon to face the sins of his past in order to save the future for the man he loves, and a city of over a million innocent souls. Peopled by a cast of unforgettable characters, The Last Handful of Clover is an epic hero's journey into darkness. From the remote Montana wilderness of 1810 to a secret chemical weapons laboratory under the Utah desert, the scope of The Last Handful of Clover is breathtaking, and lays bare the desperate longings, universal loss, and inevitable anguish of being human. * * * The Last Handful of Clover is a supernatural thriller by Wess Mongo Jolley, narrated by the author. God has been writing His story since the beginning. Through the centuries this story has been written on the hearts and lives of God's people and today, in our lives, it is no different. Every person has a story that they are writing with their lives. To make that story last, to make it meaningful, it must become part of something bigger than an individual life. Intersecting our story with God's story is how we find meaning in a world of seemingly random emptiness. We need to know God's story and then see how God has invited us, now, to be an eternal part of His story. He is writing the story of redemption still. Will you be a part of God's big story?

Anthony Blankenship was born to a teenage mother and a father who would later serve time in prison. His home life exposed him to violence, drugs, and poverty at a young age. At 15, he committed a crime that nearly cost him his life. Using this low point as an opportunity for change, he found a way to heal and break the cycle. This former army officer is now a happily married father of two. He shares his philosophy for life in his new book, First Generation Father: How to Build a Healthy and Happy Home When You Come from a Broken One. In this episode, we talk about how to get into the Golden Zone and what it means to view leadership as a form of service. www.nadiadelacruz.com
This episode is a cross-post from the Godless Spellchecker Podcast where Steven Knight interviewed me (Jamie) about Sentientism. We started our conversation by discussing an incident where I was attacked in front of my daughter by a white supremacist gang (it was ages ago and we're both fine thanks). That doesn't have too much to do with Sentientism and contains some strong language, so I've left it out of this version. If you'd like to hear it, you can find it on the Godless Spellchecker feed. Stephen's podcast focuses on atheism, secularism, freedom of belief and speech. As a fellow vegan, Stephen seems to fit the Sentientist mould, although he's hesitant about layering specific ethical commitments on top of naturalism, atheism or humanism. Sentientism is “Evidence, reason & compassion for all sentient beings.” You can find out more at Sentientism.info. Why not join our “wall” using our simple “I’m a Sentientist” form? Everyone interested, Sentientist or not, is welcome to join our community groups. Our main group is here on FaceBook. We have a fascinating range of compassionate, rational people there from around 90 countries so far!
Multi-talented, Jordan Family Band, from Calhoun, Ga., will be the featured artists this week on The Gospel Jubilee.Go to: https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/41609083/download.mp3ABOUT THE JORDAN FAMILY BANDIn October of 2009 Josh Jordan's dad, Bro. Fain Jordan, passed away unexpectedly. It was shortly thereafter, while struggling with shock and a great senseof loss, the Lord allowed Josh, his wife Randa, and their three boys to hear the single “Dealing With Gold” by the Inspirations while driving down theroad one evening.Through this song, the Lord brought great comfort to their family and touched their hearts deeply. It quickly became a favorite of the entire family. After purchasing the album in its entirety, the Jordan children - Hutch, Alex and Grant - quickly started singing along with each of its tracks. “Inspiredby the Inspirations,” Josh and Randa like to say, they realized that this was a great opportunity to start a family group. They began by learning the boy's favorite track, “Dealing With Gold” and from the first time they stood and sang it in church, the response was overwhelming! The rest, as they say, is history! The Jordan Family Band represents something that few people witness in today's gospel music scene: a complete family unit singing, playing, and ministeringtogether. The Jordan Family is members of New Town Baptist Church in Calhoun, Ga.Alex Jordan sings lead, tenor and “bass” for the JFB. Born May 9, 2005, Alex has been blessed at a very young age with an amazing voice and is a perennialcrowd favorite whenever the JFB takes the stage. He is featured on many songs with his unique smooth voice, and even covers lead, tenor and bass on the song “Good Care of Me”. He is learning to playthe mandolin and plays it and bass guitar on many songs live. Hutch Jordan sings lead and tenor for the JFB. He was born January 18, 2000 and God has certainly blessed him with many talents in a short time! An accomplished, self taught drummer, Hutch has been playing since he was 8 years old.Hutch has also expanded his instrumental repertoire and now plays rhythm and bass guitars, electric guitar, banjo, mandolin and even some piano. He isfeatured on most tracks on both family albums playing various instruments and “swaps” between several instruments live! Grant Jordan is the youngest of the Jordan family. Born August 16, 2007, Grant is quickly finding his voice and is featured on the JFB's “Across theMiles” CD along with his favorite bass singer- Mike Holcomb (ole “6'4, 94”) of the Inspirations Qt.A little shy when it comes to singing live, Grant has promised the family he will sing live when he, quote-“get's bigger like Alex!” Randa Jordan has been singing in church regularly since the age of 3 and playing piano since the age of 6. She recorded her first music project playingpiano and singing at the age of 8.Later, she followed up with another project at age 10. As the children of an evangelist, Randa and her brother, Wesley, traveled the United States formany years singing and ministering with their family.Shortly after Josh and Randa were married, they recorded their first project together and then later joined with Randa's brother, Wesley and formed thetrio, “Latter Rain”. The trio was blessed to travel and minister for over two years.Randa has also sang background vocals on many other CD projects for different artist and recording studio's including Lamp Music South Studio, Phil CrossMusic, and more. She has penned many songs through the years and in 2010 released her newest solo project, “Randa Jordan”.The album includes popular songs such as, “The Broken One's”, “It Came To Pass” and “You Raise Me Up”. Randa plays piano, sings lead and soprano for theJFB while “keeping everything in harmony and organized”. (as Josh likes to put it!) Josh Jordan grew up playing and singing in church with his mother and siblings. He later accompanied several renowned groups in the North Georgia area.Josh has produced/co-produced several CD projects and has played instruments on many studio albums for various artist and recording studio's throughoutthe years including Lamp Music South Studio, CrossRoads Studio, and more. Josh has recorded all of the family projects at a place he affectionately calls“Closet Studios.”He played Acoustic/Rhythm Guitars, Bass/Upright Bass, Electric Guitars, Mandolin, Harmonica and he wrote many of the songs you hear on the albums. Joshsings whatever the kids and Randa let him sing, while claiming to be the official “equipment loader” for the JFB! Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men's Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there. In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee are joined by friend and author Anthony Blankenship, whose book "First Generation Father: How to Build a Healthy and Happy Home When You Come From a Broken One" aims to help readers break the cycle of chaos and dysfunctional parenting which so often affects men raised in such environments. While the trauma of his unstable childhood led Anthony down a self-destructive path that almost cost him his life, his book explains how he rose above his circumstances to build a healthy life and a happy home. Because men are so often conditioned to suppress their feelings, they are very likely to repeat any dysfunctional patterns learned during their childhoods once they themselves become fathers. "First Generation Father" is a blueprint for men working to build the kind of happy, healthy family lives that they were denied. #002 Broken- The feeling of broken is a feeling that is so hard to explain. It creates a divide between you and others making it harder to connect. In this episode, we discuss the feeling of broken and finding a way to live after an unthinkable loss. For how do we continue when at the very core we feel broken? How do continue to fill from a broken cup. There is something very fundamentally wrong with a society that can put people into space but can not explain WHY a mother loses her child and if that loss happens repeatedly what is to be concluded from that. The word keep spinning even as you are trying to catch your breath and that can make the pain of losing a much wanted baby unbearable.Trauma has its way of unravelling you even when you are at your best and when you are barely holding on the weight of this loss can leave you broken. We instinctively move inwards away from the pain as that is what we have been taught but how do you move inwards when your pain comes from inside? How do you reconcile that you created life but death is what you are left with now. Come with me as I bare my pain that still lives with me, even now. As we explore Broken through the eyes of this still Broken Mama living between the Two words of life and pain. Welcome to episode two and I hope that find some healing here. There can be healing even when you are Broken. We would love you to hear from you and you can contact us https://www.onemamabetweentwoworlds.com/podcastTo read the show notes or more information please click here https://www.onemamabetweentwoworlds.com/episode2Thank you so much!

Sadly, we have lost more members of the wrestling community over the past week and we will pay tribute to them. The hottest news coming out of WWE this week are the Nia Jax buckle drop on Kairi Sane and what the Japanese wrestler was screaming before she was thrown. There is also information leaking out of Stamford regarding the basics of taping Money In The Bank. WWE has also issued a statement regarding 24/7 Champion Rob Gronkowski, who announced his return to the NFL yesterday. Triple H apparently isn't worth as much to the WWE as Bray Wyatt is if you base it on the cost of their respective special title belts are concerned.
