In a week with minimal major beats, the Dukes are able to sink their teeth into a plethora of smaller topics such as Xbox's recruitment of Insomniac's creative director, the fate of PlayStation's Wolverine project, and what this means for Perfect Dark! Furthermore, we try our hand at some data analysis by breaking down the early numbers for Call Of Duty and what impact this can have on Game Pass as well as its future. Indeed, many including us still believe that Black Ops 6 needs to be an absolute smash hit to justify Xbox's tampering with its golden goose. So, what does the limited data say and how does it fare for Xbox? We discuss that, plus more in Remedy's puzzling financial situation, BioWare's uncertain future, Ubisoft's response to recent criticism, and Monster Hunter Wilds smashing records with its beta. Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. 0:00:00 - Intro 0:06:02 - A new creative director for Perfect Dark 0:13:50 - Xbox showing new hardware in 2025? 0:25:02 - HoYoverse is bringing Zenless Zone Zero to Xbox? 0:26:19 - The future of Gears 0:34:05 - Arkane Studios founder speaks out against Xbox 0:40:37 - Dragon Age: The Veilguard is not getting DLC 0:44:25 - Is Dragon Age getting a Legendary Edition? 0:50:11 - Some updates in the world of Ubisoft 0:59:22 - Monster Hunter Wilds has insane beta numbers 1:01:02 - Remedy's financial situation 1:07:15 - LEGO Horizon Adventures length revealed 1:10:46 - A sequel to HogLeg is in development 1:13:08 - Kingdom Come Deliverance has sold over 8 million units 1:16:24 - Meta's staggering earnings 1:24:53 - Private Division has been sold off by 2K 1:26:07 - SEGA confirms a new Virtua Fighter game 1:28:44 - What We're Playing 1:59:50 - Call Of Duty updates 2:15:59 - Some Undead Labs updates 2:18:57 - Coming soon to Xbox Game Pass 2:25:19 - Game Pass Pick Of The Week Learn more about your ad choices. In today's Daily Fix:Sony is admitting their sales numbers for the PS5 are down year-over-year, but it's not all bad news. Monthly active users are actually up (meaning the people that have PS5's are playing them a lot more), and according to Circana, the console market overall is holding strong. The Nintendo Switch is only a million or so units away from taking the PlayStation 2's crown as best-selling console of all time, and the Xbox Series consoles are keeping pace with the much-loved Xbox 360 in terms of sales. In other news, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is heading to last-gen consoles, despite what was previously claimed that PS4 and Xbox One would not be able to handle it. And finally, fans of Prey and Dishonored should be quite pleased with the new game from Arkane Studios' co-founder.
Dishonored 2, in its entirety, stands as a testament to what can be achieved in the realm of interactive storytelling and gameplay design. Arkane Studios not only managed to build upon the strong foundations of the first Dishonored game but also expanded them, crafting a world brimming with possibilities, moral complexities, and visual splendor. It's a game that doesn't just offer a single playthrough but invites players to live and relive its myriad experiences, each time unearthing something new and captivating. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ongamecast/support

In today's Daily Fix:Hackers have previously threatened to release private files from Sony's gaming divisions if they weren't paid approximately $2 million USD. Well, Sony did not cough up the cash and now more than a terabyte of data has been released, some of it with very confidential files related to Sony's upcoming games and their deal with Marvel. Looks like, barring some exceptions, Sony has locked up the video game rights to the X-Men for the next decade or so. The deal does not affect other Marvel characters like Blade, who is getting his own game courtesy of Arkane Studios and Microsoft. And speaking of Microsoft, the hack reveals Sony's deep concern over the Microsoft aquisition of Activision Blizzard King. Sony believes it gives Microsoft a distinct advantage in many areas, including mobile and live service games.
E3 is dead and The Game Awards killed it. Kidding, but The Game Awards did happen and there were announcements and trailers. Arkane is making a Blade game, there's a new Jurassic Park game, and Kojima is doing something too. This week we have a review of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse, which you wont want to miss. We also have all the news out of both Meta and Apples new conferences, where a lot of new head based hardware was announced. We learned some major shakeups are coming at GameStop, and the WGA strike continues. No movement on the ABK Xbox merger, and The Rock is getting another standalone movie in the Fast Saga.
With Jim and Tony still playing Zelda, Street Fighter 6 and Diablo 4 launch to critical success and set new records for their parent companies. Jason Schreier does a mini dive into Arkane Studios on what happened with Redfall and unfortunately Firaxis lays off 30 people coming off the disappointing sales of Marvel's Midnight Suns. #zelda #streetfighter6 #diablo6 #redfall #videogames

"Hey everyone, and welcome back to the podcast! This week, we're going to be talking about Redfall, the new vampire-hunting game from Arkane Studios. We've all been playing it for a few days now, and we have a lot of thoughts to share. Is it a good game? Is it worth your time? We'll be answering all of those questions and more. But before we get to that, we're also going to be talking about the state of Xbox after the recent Phil Spencer interview. Spencer made some pretty big statements in that interview, and we want to talk about what they mean for the future of Xbox.So whether you're a fan of Redfall or just interested in the state of Xbox, this is an episode you won't want to miss. Arkane Studios, typically a favorite among critics and fans, has been met with widespread disappointment, prompting questions about what went wrong. As day-1 glitches and significant bugs in games like Redfall become increasingly common, the gaming community's patience is wearing thin, leading to a surge in fervent reactions. In this week's roundtable news episode, we delve into the paradox of how advanced tools, rather than enhancing games and expediting their development, seem to be having the inverse effect. Our panel also addresses recent tech industry layoffs, Meta's change of strategic direction, and Apple's plans to both rectify and capitalize on the potential of AR/VR technology. Take a spin with this spin-off of the franchise that spawned a genre! The Xbox Game Pass “Surprise Me” button has taken the reins once again, and this time it has directed our dynamic duo to tackle a first-person shooter developed by MachineGames and Arkane Studios. It seems only fair for expectations to run a bit high when you consider that the original Wolfenstein effectively created the first-person shooter genre. That said, this much more recent title has already been out for a few years and the reviews are decidedly mixed. With the option to play the entire game co-op as the twin daughters of B.J. Blazkowicz or go solo with an AI companion, what will our hosts decide to do? Will that choice ultimately have a major impact on their final decision when the hour is up?

Arkane Studios, best known for creating the acclaimed stealth series Dishonored, has made a name for itself by realizing game worlds with rich lore, environmental storytelling, and curious, interweaving levels. Its specialty is developing immersive sims, a niche it's helped cultivate since 1999. On May 2, Arkane releases its next project, Redfall, an open-world first-person shooter. I've been a fan of Arkane Studios' rich single-player worlds for years. Naturally, I had questions about Redfall's position in the developer's portfolio. However, after interviewing Studio Head Harvey Smith and playing the game for 90 minutes, I have the answers I was looking for – and I'm excited to share it all in this week's episode of The Game Informer Show. In this week's episode of The Game Informer Show, Alex returns from New York City to share his thoughts on Redfall after a lengthy hands-on session. Blake breaks down his Resident Evil 4 Remake review, and Marcus shares his thoughts on the Diablo IV closed beta. Then the conversation switches to lighter subjects when Kyle talks about what makes Tchia an open-world game worth exploring. Lastly, the podcast closes with a short interview between Arkane Studios' Harvey Smith and Game Informer's Alex Van Aken, who talk about creativity, serialization, and how Redfall morphs into a different experience when playing with friends. Redfall stands as one of Xbox's most anticipated exclusives and it makes sense. Arkane Studios is a world class talent creating some of the best immersive sim titles that our industry has to offer. However, Redfall is set to be different compared to the studio's past work and a major interview by IGN shines a spotlight on why. Together, the Dukes go through it with a fine toothed comb to bring each aspect of the conversation surrounding the game to light. Otherwise in a quieter week of gaming, we get into the thick of things with a topic that has dominated the industry: Ubisoft. As it always seems to be the case, it's not for good reason. With Ubisoft's near miss on threatening the preservation of Assassin's Creed Liberation, we aim to expand the conversation beyond that to the pressing problem of the "Digital Age" quickly approaching and no safety nets in place.
