Nach einer kleinen Pause geht's bei uns mit Grawinkel vom Leipziger Soundsystem Kollektiv 2 Guys 1 Dub weiter. Seit er durch Dubstep seinen Weg in die Bass Music Szene fand, ist er seinem Genre treu geblieben und ist mit einer Reihe abwechslungsreicher und ausgesprochen guter Releases z.B. für das kalifornische Label Badman Studios oder die beglische Dubstep Institution DUPLOC am Start. DJ WRONG TOOL aka wahlweise auch DJ LATE PUBERTY vermengt als akustische Reiseleiterin gern Untergrund mit Mainstream über Ländergrenzen hinweg, liebt es auf dem musikgeschichtlichen Zeitstrahl und in unterschiedlichsten Genre-Schubladen umher zu springen und althergebrachtes in leicht waghalsige Neuinterpretationen zu überführen. In her dj identity mʊdʌki flows in between bass music of such subgenres as jungle, dubstep, dub, juke, and avant garde experimental electronic music together with sound art, through a wide branch of techno – deep, minimal, breakbeat, industrial and hard acid techno tunes, all with a strong accent on the leftfield music scene. Blazid is a dubstep producer / DJ raised and based in Iasi, Romania. He started to get familiar with dubstep in 2013-2014, his passion taking off officially in 2016, as he started producing and mixing under the name of Blazid. He has multiple styles and genres combined in his sets - mostly somewhere between dubstep, grime, hip-hop, dub or halftime. His first contact with the scene was in 2021, mixing at local events such as Chase The Sun, Rum and Bass, with other local producers / DJs - Evolve Dubz, Tudor G, Kamal, Omul Spin, Nslb, Prankie. Podcast #55 stammt von Jana Rush (https://soundcloud.com/planetmurecords) aka https://soundcloud.com/jaru-1, einer der interessantesten Künstlerinnen Chicagos, der Stadt von Dance Mania. Das Label um DJ Deeon und seine Crew haben Jana musikalisch großgezogen und geprägt, seit sie im Alter von elf Jahren anfing aufzulegen. Keine Überraschung, dass sie in dieser Szene später auch DJ Rashad und andere Teklife Künstler kennenlernte. Dennoch fehlte ihr damals das Vertrauen in ihr eigenes Talent und Jana entschied sich, sich zunächst auf einen "richtigen" Job zu konzentrieren. In ihrem Artistprofile kann man zum Beispiel lesen, dass sie bei der Feuerwehr arbeitete, als Chemie-Ingenieurin bei einer Ölraffinerie und gerade als CT-Scan Assistentin im Krankenhaus. Musik war dabei immer eine Art mentale Rettungsleine für sie, etwas an das sie sich klammmern konnte wenn der Stress des Alltags zu groß wurde oder die Depression, mit der sie kämpfen musste, die Oberhand gewann. Indem sie diesen Struggle in ihrer eigenen Musik einfließen ließ (und immer noch lässt) hat sie ihren eigenen Sound und so am Ende zu sich selbst gefunden. "Painful Enlightenment" heißt dann passenderweise auch ihr aktuellstes Album. In den letzten Jahren konnte sie nicht nur als DJ Dancefloors auf der ganzen Welt beglücken sondern auch einige grandiose Releases auf Labels wie Objects Unlimited oder Planet Mu veröffentlichen, wo auch ihr neues Album "Dark Humor" im März rauskommt. Im April steht auch eine kleine Tour durch Europa an, die von Corona hoffentlich nicht vermiest wird. Um ihren Style zu beschreiben greift das Label "Footwork" definitiv zu kurz, vor allem da Jana selbst eher ein gespaltenes Verhältnis zum Genre und seinen Konventionen hat. Schlauerweise macht sie jedoch diesen Konflikt zum Ausgangspunkt ihrer musikalischen Experimente und zitiert, destilliert und dekonstruiert fast jedes bekannte Footwork Motiv von sich wiederholenden, wild zerstückelte und neu zusammengesetzte Vocalsamples, 808 Drumsounds, Rhythmen, die ihren Puls zwischen schnellen Offbeats und swingendem Halftime-Feel verschieben bis hin zu smoothen Jazz-, Rap- und Soulsamples, die auf die reiche Musikgeschichte des Genres und Chicagos selbst verweisen in eine düsterere, dystopische Version. Besonders in ihren eigenen Tracks drückt sie dieser Mischung einen Stempel auf, der von ihrem persönlichen Struggle erzählt, vom Widerstreit zwischen dem Etablierten, "Erwachsensein" und mit "richtiger Arbeit" Geld verdienen, Alltagsstress und Depression auf der einen Seite und Innovation, zu sich selbst finden, Vertrauen in die eigene künstlerische Stimme aufbauen und Halt in der Musik finden auf der anderen Seite. Musik funktioniert über Gefühl. Möge sie auch von Trends und funktionierenden Formeln erfolgreich gelenkt werden, ist sie im Kern vor allem zeitlos und jedes Jahrzehnt fügt ihr diverse neue Akzente hinzu. Voller Leidenschaft weiß der Dresdner Produzent Cana diese in seinen Hip Hop inspirierten Sound mit einzustreuen, ohne sich dabei auf ein eindeutiges Genre festzulegen. Meist mit einem atmosphärischen Unterton versehen treffen Samples aus alten Filmen auf knackige Bässe und 8-bit Arpeggios. Mit viel Liebe zum Detail widmet er sich komplexen Arrangements, die sich dem Zuhörer bei der Wahrnehmung des Gesamtkunstwerkes nicht aufdrängen. Lässt man die akustische Reise zu, bieten sie dennoch ein erfrischendes Wechselspiel aus Licht und Schatten. Seit nunmehr 15 Jahren bewegt sich Cana im geschätzten Windschatten seiner musikalischen Kollegen und wirkte in dieser Zeit auf fünfzig Releases mit, von denen er drei ganzheitlich produziert hat. east ist einer aus der Kategorie ‚your favourite DJ's favourite DJ‘. Immer relaxt ist er seit knapp 30 Jahren an den Stahlrädern am Start, ohne ins Rampenlicht zu drängen oder Fame ernten zu wollen. east macht's mit Selection und Skillz und ist dabei nach wie vor musikalisch vorn dran, wobei seine Roots als HipHop-DJ der frühen 90s auch immer auf die eine oder andere Art in seinen Sets zu erkennen sind. Entweder weil's eben ein HipHop-Set ist, das dann auch gern die Grenzen klassischer Rap-Musik sprengt, oder in Form von tighten Cuts, Scratches und routiniertem Beat-Gejuggle, das bei Dub, Grime, Dubstep, D'nB oder welchem Style auch immer mit einfließt. Seine musikalische Bandbreite äußert sich auch in den vergangenen oder gegenwärtigen Residencies bei verschiedeneen Veranstaltungsreihen, wie z.B. ‚Ultimate Oldschool Funk‘, ‚Reload‘ (ab 2008 einer der ersten regelmäßige Dubstep-Party in Dresden), Soul Box (Golden Era Rap) oder Funky Monkey (HipHop, Bass and more). Außerdem ist east zusammen mit seinem Homie Mickster als Veranstalter der ‚Cold Diggin'-Reihe aktiv, die inzwischen komplett mit 7-inch Platten aus dem Funk-, Boogie- und HipHop-Kosmos bestritten wird. Als neuestes Projekt wurde passend dazu das gleichnamige 45-only Label gegründet, das die beiden mit dem ominösen Duke Ya Love To Hate betreiben. In wenigen Wochen geht bereits das vierte Release an den Start. Infinite Sequence startet mit einem Mix des Dresdners COMMON MOB aka Arthur in die Herbstsaison! Musik begleitet ihn schon seit seiner Kindheit im Erzgebirge - egal ob von Bands oder aus dem elektronischen Spektrum. In seiner Heimat Oberpöbel gibt es den Turbojugend Verein, der bereits seit 2006 Konzerte und Techno Parties auf die Beine stellt. Kein Wunder, dass Arthur schnell Mitglied wurde. Als 16-jähriger Grashüpfer kam er dann zum ersten mal mit Freetekks und Soundsystemkultur in Berührung. Die ersten DJ Gigs und eigene Parties ließen dann nicht lange auf sich warten. Heute ist COMMON MOB neben der Turbojugend auch in der Pamb Sound Crew ansässig. Die Pambas, so nennen wir sie jetzt einfach mal, haben ein eigenes Soundsystem und organisieren Parties, dieses Jahr zum Beispiel die Subkontra, gemeinsam mit den Crews Yadira und TBA Soundsystem. Der Sound von COMMON MOB hat seine Wurzeln im Bereich Raggatek und Acidcore, mittlerweile definiert er seine Musik aber eher offen: Bassmusik. Kommt uns als Infinite Sequence natürlich sehr gelegen. Fuck the Schubladensystem! Eingespielt hat er sich heute vor allem auf Dubstep, Grime, Trap und technoide Breaks. Wobbeln muss es halt irgendwie. Der Mix driftet immer wieder in eine apokalyptische Klangkulisse ab, aber bietet ebenso schöne Stellen zum Runterkommen, ja fast zum meditieren einladend. From deep to Gedudel - alles dabei! Sie spielt sich schon seit den 90ern durch die Clubs der Welt und ihr einzigartiger Sound hat so viele Facetten, dass wir nach Jungle, Bassmusic, Dub, Footwork und Afrobeats lieber aufhören, aufzuzählen und einfach sagen, dass grenzenloses Genremixing ihr Markenzeichen ist. Ripleys Herz schlägt für die Soundsystem Culture, für sie sollen Dancefloors Orte der Heilung und Transzendenz, des Unterbrechens, Entladens und Verbindens sein. Mit diesen Themen setzt sich sie auch in einem akademischen Kontext auseinander, forscht an der Temple University an den Schnittpunkten von Musik, Technologie, Recht und kulturellen Ausdrucksformen und bringt im März '22 sogar ein Buch zum Thema raus: Rude Citizenship: Jamaican Popular Music, Copyright and the Reverberations of Colonial Power. "Was lange währt, wird gut" könnte man als Quintessenz dieses Mixes sehen. Wobei es hier ja eigentlich heißen müßte "Was lange währt, wird ausgezeichnet", denn Maltin Worf steht als Dresdner Homie schon seit Beginn unseres Podcasts auf der Want-List. Seit sich unsere Wege das erste mal zu später Stunde am Tresen des Bon Voyage kreuzten, müssen inzwischen etwa zehn Jahre vergangen sein. Seitdem hat Maltin eine amtliche Entwicklung hingelegt, wobei schon damals offensichtlich war, dass er eine Extra-Portion Talent am Start hat. Gewinner des Laptop Battle Dresden 2014 und Artist in Focus beim 2015er DAVE Festival wird man nicht durch Zufall. Waren damals noch seine HipHop-Roots und Einflüsse von Madlib oder J Dilla dominant, so hat sich sein Sound mit den Jahren vor allem Richtung Footwork und Jungle verschoben, wodurch er zum perfekten Künstler für das Leipziger 160BPM-Label Defrostatica Records wurde. 2018 erschien dort sein erster Beitrag auf der Compilation "Future Sound of Leipzig" und in den Folgejahren die EPs "City of Meth" I und II, sowie "4AM". Samt Remixen von u.a. D'nB Urgestein Digital und einer Collabo mit Rider Shafique, womit Maltin Worf spätestens jetzt auch international Gehör finden dürfte. Wenn in Dresden über HipHop und DJing gesprochen wird ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit groß, dass auch die Namen Access und Xkap fallen. Beide sind seit knapp 20 Jahren im Game und haben in dieser Zeit tiefe Fussabdrücke in der lokalen Szene hinterlassen. Ihre Party-Reihe Soul Box kann man ohne Zweifel als Aushängeschilder für HipHop in Dresden bezeichnen und die Namedroppin-Liste der absolvierten DJ-Gigs als Support für die Ikonen des US-Rap ist lang und beinhaltet Namen wie Masta Ace, Dilated Peoples, Afu-Ra, Capone-N-Noreaga, Onyx oder KRS-One. Neben der Leidenschaft für's DJing hat Xkap sich außerdem nicht zu verachtende Freestyle-Rap-Skills zugelegt, mit denen er es in diversen Battles bis in ostdeutsche Finals schaffte. Leider ist diese Seite in den letzten Jahren sehr ins Hintertreffen geraten und hat es nur noch sehr selten in die Öffentlichkeit geschafft, so dass es hier inzwischen fast schon mythische Erzählungen gibt. Was das genau bedeuten soll wissen wohl nur die Bewohner des kleinen Örtchens Loe aus Estland. Wir haben aber auch gehört, dass es dort manchmal ganz schön ice(ig) ist. Aber genug von der schlechten Herleitung und hin zu iceloes Mix. Die musikalische Finesse bildet sich vor allem daraus, dass der Mix in 4 Akte aufgebaut ist. Von 105 bis 160 BPM bekommen alle Bassheads eine absurd gute Mischung aus verschiedenen Genres, die niemals den roten Faden verliert und so spielerisch vielfältig ist, wie wir das von seinen Sets kennen. "Tachschön. Ich bin Jonas aka Impatient Cut aka Kalle Selassie aka 1/3 von Gute Nacht Weit und Breit und lege seit ungefähr 8 Jahren Musik auf, meistens mit Bass und Schallplatten. Am Anfang nur Drum'n'Bass und Breaks, danach Dubstep, wieder zurück zu Jungle & Ragga, irgendwann bei Juke und Halftime rausgekommen, bei UK Garage falsch abgebogen und mittlerweile auch manchmal in Disco und Funk Gefilden unterwegs, liegt der ernstgemeintere und manchmal nicht ganz ernstzunehmende Teil meines Plattenauflegens doch irgendwo bei Bassmusik von der Insel zwischen 120 und 170 bpm, wenn nicht gerade Soplica im Spiel ist. Angefangen in dunklen Kellern und Wäldern der ostsächsischen Pampa habe ich es noch nicht weiter geschafft, als… nun ja, in den noch östlicheren Teil der ostsächsischen Pampa. Seit 2015 mache ich hier mit einer Schar von anderen Leuten, die gern in dunklen Löchern Musik hören, Partys und Musik für Leute die gern in dunklen Löchern Musik hören und dazu schwitzen. Am liebsten lege ich 1. vor Leuten und 2. mit Platten auf. Mixe aufzunehmen fällt mir hingegen richtig krass schwer, deswegen war es auch ein übelster Krampf diesen Podcast aufzunehmen. Eigentlich hat sich das jetzt über 2 Jahre gezogen und ich bin froh, dass ich es hinter mir habe und die Infinite Sequence Gäng zufrieden ist. Ich eigentlich auch. Der Mix ist größtenteils aktueller Dubstep (?) und UK-Beats, die ich nicht genau einordnen kann. Aufgenommen im tristen Lockdown-Görlitz laufen fast alle Schalplatten mindestens auf Pitch -4. Ich finde das gibt dem ganzen einen ziemlich nicen Groove und lädt zum Kopfnicken ein. Viel Spaß." Dazu fällt uns nix zu ergänzen mehr ein. Besides HipHop, House and Techno were part of his repertoire - the influence of his DJ buddies and the Berlin club scene was always present. Since 2011 Dude lives in Dresden. Er erzählt von seiner persönlichen Reise durch die Bassmusikwelt. Marcus säbelte los: “Es fing vor 30 Jahren an. Ich gründete 1992 die Radiosendung Black is Black.” Die Sendung beschäftigte sich vor allem mit HipHop, dabei machte er seine ersten Erfahrungen als Radiomoderator. Schnell wurde Herr Maak etwas bewusst und ergänzte seinen Satz sofort. “Ich merkte aber, dass mir ein Genre nicht reicht. Es ist mir zu eindimensional.” Daraufhin gründete er BTTB - Back To The Basics, ebenfalls im Jahre 1992. Inhaltlich soll sich die Sendung mit mehreren Genres beschäftigen: HipHop, House und Acid Jazz, aber schon schnell kamen UK-Ravetunes und Jungle hinzu. Der Grundtenor von BTTB bestand aber immer aus einer entscheidenden Komponente: BASS. -Kino Off- Nur mal ein kleiner Gedankengang, was Vinylizer im Jahre 2022 von sich geben könnte. Wir gehen mal in die Zukunft. Swuuuusch. “2 Jahre später” steht auf einer großen Kinoleihnwand danach ist Marcus Maak aka Vinylizer in klassischer Drei-Punkt-Ausleuchte zu sehen. Er erzählt von seiner persönlichen Reise durch die Bassmusikwelt. Marcus säbelte los: “Es fing vor 30 Jahren an. Ich gründete 1992 die Radiosendung Black is Black.” Die Sendung beschäftigte sich vor allem mit HipHop, dabei machte er seine ersten Erfahrungen als Radiomoderator. Schnell wurde Herr Maak etwas bewusst und ergänzte seinen Satz sofort. “Ich merkte aber, dass mir ein Genre nicht reicht. Es ist mir zu eindimensional.” Daraufhin gründete er BTTB - Back To The Basics, ebenfalls im Jahre 1992. Inhaltlich soll sich die Sendung mit mehreren Genres beschäftigen: HipHop, House und Acid Jazz, aber schon schnell kamen UK-Ravetunes und Jungle hinzu. Der Grundtenor von BTTB bestand aber immer aus einer entscheidenden Komponente: BASS. -Kino Off- Nur mal ein kleiner Gedankengang, was Vinylizer im Jahre 2022 von sich geben könnte. Es folgen zahlreiche weitere Projekte, die sich mit Bassmusik beschäftigen, wie die Crew WobWob!, eine regelmäßige Sendung auf ByteFM (BTTB), jährliches Auftreten auf dem Fusion und Feel Festival und die Internetseite recordstore.love. Wir freuen uns endlich ein Mix von Vinylizer in unseren digitalen Händen zu halten und ihn euch präsentieren zu können.
