Then, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi stops by to discuss the Blue Jays' recent additions to the team with rosters expanding for the month, if they can still call-up Trey Yesavage to the big leagues, why he wouldn't be too concerned with Jeff Hoffman despite some hiccups over the recent stretch, and if John Schneider will consider switching up the second spot in the batting order. A question we are all asking ourselves at this moment: what is happening to the Phillies? They were just swept by the Mets at Citi Field, there are now pitching concerns as Zack Wheeler will miss the rest of the season, and what should we make of this bullpen and streaky hitting? This week, friend of the podcast Michael Fisher from Fansided's ThatBallsOuttaHere.com joined the show for discussion as we voiced and tried to sift through our concerns. It was a great discussion! But first, the guys dove into this upcoming Philadelphia Eagles season now that the 53-man roster has been set. How concerned should we be for the Eagles young secondary? (Approx. 9:10)From there, they discussed the greed of corporate broadcasting and streaming services that could disrupt the upcoming football season. (Approx. 16:45)The guys then dove into their new top-3 list in honor of Phillies relief pitcher Jordan Romano: the top-3 worst Phillies free agent signings of all-time. (Approx. 28:55)What they threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth conversation with Michael Fisher From That Balls Outta Here over on Fansided about concerns heading into the latter part of this Phillies season. Why can't the Phils win at Citi Field? What the loss of Zack Wheeler means for the starting rotation. Biggest concerns for batting and the bullpen from here on out. Also, what give us hope on this team? All of this and much more this week on the Table! Guests: Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer, left fielder Davis Schneider, reliever Tommy Nance The Blue Jays are getting set for a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers, who have the best record in MLB, and they'll go into it just half a game behind the Detroit Tigers for the best record in the American League. Bullpen questions abound, and we discuss those on this episode of Deep Left Field, and also welcome Max Scherzer to the podcast for the first time. The 41-year-old, Cooperstown-bound starting pitcher is showing glimpses of the pitcher who won three Cy Young awards every time out and we discuss his comeback from three months missed with a thumb injury. We also try to get him to compare this Jays team to the three teams he's played on that have been to the World Series, but he's not looking past his next start. Davis Schneider homered twice Wednesday night and has been red-hot in the month of August, batting .341 with an 1.123 OPS. He joins the show to talk about his turnaround and to sing the praises of his roommate, Ernie Clement, and of Joey Loperfido, who is likely to move back in with them shortly. And 34-year-old Tommy Nance, who has a 0.90 ERA out of the bullpen in 17 appearances, discusses his long and winding path to the big leagues, his flourishing in his role with the Jays and how excited he is to be part of a September pennant push for the first time in his career.
The Church Street Podcast: The Bullpen Episode Title: Jesus the Redeemer Where every voice gets a turn at the mic. At First Grapevine, we're blessed with three gifted preachers—but not every voice is heard every Sunday. That's why we created The Bullpen: a space for emerging voices to bring fresh perspectives and deep spiritual insight. In this soul-stirring episode, Pastor Zach Stiefel, Dr. Keva Green, and Ed Crater reflect on Matthew 16:13–19 and the powerful question Jesus asked: “Who do you say that I am?” Peter boldly responds, “You are the Messiah, the Christ.” Jesus affirms him, saying, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church.” This moment marks a kind of spiritual graduation for the disciples—a turning point where Jesus' message begins to take root in a deeper way, just before the culmination of His earthly ministry. We're so glad you're here. Let's keep growing together—in truth, grace, and community.
Ben Ennis and Sam McKee take a look at how the Blue Jays plan to manage the rotation down the stretch here. They question if skipping José Berríos is the right choice, if they should they be priming the big three of Shane Bieber, Max Scherzer and Kevin Gausman for the postseason, and the trickle-down effect of that on the bullpen. Is there a chance we see Trey Yesavage up here in September? The guys also chat about what this season done for George Springer's legacy and if he has bought himself a free pass for next year in Toronto. Later, Ben and Sam share their thoughts on Keegan Bradley's Ryder Cup selection and debate if not selecting himself to play was the right choice. Rob Longley, Blue Jays beat reporter for the Toronto Sun, joins the show to share his experience from Rogers Centre last night and how he is feeling about the team right now. Rob wraps up with thoughts on Anthony Santander's outlook this year and why Ernie Clement has not gone on the IL yet.The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
Ed, Rob, and Jeremy took some time from Thursday's BBMS to recap a crushing O's loss at the hands of the Red Sox. The Birds' bullpen has been terrible lately and it's leading some to question the future of the team's relievers. Should they overhaul the ‘pen this offseason?
Tony Mansolino is catching heat for sending Keegan Akin back out for the 9th inning last night. Mike Bordick joined the show with his thoughts on that and the series against Boston so far.
Brock and Salk discuss which Seahawks roster cuts surprised them and which ones didn't as the roster gets cut down to 53. They also debate if the Mariners have enough bullpen arms moving forward, but also talk through how yesterday's game felt like a playoff game. In Blue 88, Brock takes a look at his faborite Seahawk that made the roster, the strengths and weaknesses of the 49ers roster and what jumps out about UW's opening game depth.
