Turbulent. Equilibrating. Those are the words that investors Gabriel Kra and Carly Anderson use to describe the last year for venture capital in climate tech.  We now have a full picture of the year for climate tech venture investing in 2023. Fresh data from Sightline Climate shows a decline in deal counts, round sizes, and a dropoff in repeat investors.  It was a year of rising interest rates, declining valuations, a bank collapse, and falling exits. But it was also when many companies started building factories, and forging a path toward a green industrial economy. “If rates go up and IPO markets dry up, we all suffer from that just like everybody else does,” said Kra. “But when we look back, we're going to realize, that's when products started rolling off the lines.” “I think it was a year of looking around and figuring out, ‘hey, what's real and we, where is, where is the ground?' And I think we're at a pretty solid place now to go forward, “ said Anderson. Carly Anderson attended the first ever coaching skills training program offered in Australia in 1998. Three years later, she married an American coach and moved to the United States. She was MCC certified by 2004, and has been an active ICF MCC and PCC Assessor ever since. On May 27, 2021, she (finally!) reached 100 MCC coaches she has mentored that have passed their MCC exam. While at UCLA, Dr. Carly won three NCAA National team titles in gymnastics. In this podcast, I sit down with Carly Anderson during her first "Just Wear The Suit" weekend in Temecula California. Carly Anderson is the founder of Lipgloss and Crayons and #justwearthesuit. This former Los Angeles inner city elementary school teacher is married to a professional musician, and recently moved to San Diego from Los Angeles .  Carly believes that hard work pays off, that community is more important that competition, and that women are stronger together. She knows that society tells us that there is one form of beauty, wants to tell her daughter (and yours) that that isn't the truth.
