Today, Elena talks with coach and founder, Melanie Paez, about the C-Suite Collective Retreat, being an inclusive leader, and checking your prejudices at the door. Check out Elena's website to learn more about how she can support you in seeing and using the power that resides within you. What does it mean to create an environment of belonging? We hear this phrase a lot in the world, but what does it really mean? Well, it starts with awareness—awareness of yourself, of others, and of your environment. We all have blind spots that we need to address in order to have a full understanding of ourselves so we can create belonging. In fact, there are a few steps you can take to ensure you create belonging, not just with others, but within yourself, as well. This includes journaling, determining your wants and needs, figuring out where you are withholding, and highlighting the areas where you are afraid of being different. In her Weekly Coaching Tip, Elena explains how you can begin to understand your own needs, wants, and desires, so you can be more attuned to others. In her interview segment, Elena talks with coach and founder of Chief Executive Angel, Melanie Paez. Melanie is also the Director of Coaching at the C-Suite Collective and is instrumental in helping the C-Suite thrive. In their conversation, Elena and Melanie talk about how to navigate being inclusive without excluding others, the balance of masculine and feminine leadership in the world, and owning who you are. They also cover highlights from the C-Suite Collective Retreat and share applicable steps you can use on your personal journey of self-discovery and belonging. Let's Get Social! In order to help you save more, earn more and live more abundantly on today's show I'll be covering: How to Maximize Spending Your Gift Cards Preserve Your Memories with Storyworth Holiday Fun at Busch Gardens Stay Safe with Online Deals   - - - - - - — How to Maximize Spending Your Gift Cards With the holidays right around the corner, we all know that we'll be giving or receiving gift cards this winter. It's one of my go-to gifts for casual friends or relatives who might be difficult to shop for. I'm always excited when I get a gift card myself because that means I get to stretch every dollar and find ways to enhance my savings. Here are 6 tips on maximizing your gift card spending.     1.) Save them up! You never know when a gift card can be your saving grace in a tight spot. Money you don't spend out of pocket goes back to bills and other important expenses and we don't always have a lot of extra cash lying around to begin with. Save the gift cards (like Visa or Amazon gift cards) that could help you replace something important later down the line when you really need it, but don't wanna burn a hole through your wallet!      2.) Look for deals on the items you are looking to get with your gift card. Make sure you take the time to look through weekly ads and seasonal deals in order to get the most bang for your buck. For instance, this week in the Target ad, you can save up to 50% off on kid's toys and books. Have a Target gift card you've had for a while? Save on holiday gifts for the kids by shopping now, or even on Black Friday, to get those toys for a fraction of the normal cost. Want to use your gift card to shop online? Use websites like Groupon or Honey to search for coupons and promotions to get the hottest deals on your favorite items.    3.) Look for promotions that give you gift cards. Some stores (like Target) will give you 5, 10, or even 15 dollar gift cards if you spend a certain amount of cash on certain items. For instance, the current Target gift card promotion offers a 15 dollar gift card if you spend 75 dollars or more on diapers using same-day order services. This is a great way for parents to get money back for what they already spend, and it's 15 dollars you don't have to spend on your next shopping trip!   4.) Make sure you understand the terms and conditions! Always read the fine print and figure out if your card needs to be activated before use, if there are any limitations, or if there is an expiration date. These are important things to know so you remember how and when you can spend your gift cards.      5.) Keep your unused cards somewhere safe. There's nothing worse than finding the perfect time to use a gift card and then realizing you haven't seen it since you got it last holiday season.  Make a dedicated envelope or folder for all of your unused gift cards so you always know where they are.        6.) Keep track of your card balances! You're not always going to use your whole gift card during one shopping trip! Take a moment after each transaction to write down the remaining balance on the back of your card. Forgot the balance on your card? No worries! Most cards have a phone number on the back that you can call if you ever need to inquire about the card's balance.    - - - - - - — One thing I love around the holidays is family getting together and sharing stories. It's especially poignant for our older family members and friends to share about times long ago. Wouldn't it be great to have these...

I love what I do and can't wait to get going on today's episode. In order to help you save more, earn more and live more abundantly on today's show I'll be covering:   How to Make Breakfast Easier and Cheaper Earn Swagbucks Rewards While Savings on Groceries The Best Deals for Your Entertainment Needs Be Your Own Boss in as Little as 4 Months   - - - - - - —   How to Make Breakfast Easier and Cheaper School mornings are crazy busy. Finding time to make and eat something other than cold cereal or granola bars can become a dream relegated only to weekend mornings. But what if you could serve a more substantial breakfast every morning in minutes, while staying in budget and on schedule? You can. Here's how to make breakfast easier and cheaper.    Egg Scramble in a Mug. While already making dinner, saute extra diced onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach or other similar ingredients and meats as desired. Allow to cool. Beat eggs with dashes of salt and pepper until uniform. In ceramic or glass mugs or small bowls, place 1/4 cup cooked vegetables and meats, 2 beaten eggs (uncooked), and 1 ounce shredded cheese. Stir to incorporate, then cover and refrigerate. To cook, place in the microwave on high for 60-90 seconds or until eggs are completely cooked. Eggs should be slightly soft (not overcooked and rubbery) and the other ingredients warm. Making these yourself is a huge savings over buying similar ready-to-cook products at $2-3 each. You can put together a dozen cups for less than $12, depending on the ingredients you use, making them at least 50% cheaper at $1 each.   Heat and Eat Pancakes. A full box of pancake mix will make approximately 50 small pancakes. When making your pancakes, be sure the batter isn't too dry and don't over-mix it (leave lumps). Keep a close watch on your skillet so your pancakes nicely brown but stay moist inside. This will keep them from drying out when reheating. Allow finished pancakes to fully cool, then freeze. Pop them into the toaster to quickly reheat. By making these yourself, rather than buying boxed ones, you can make 4 times the pancakes for the same money (approximately $2). You can similarly make toaster waffles!   Overnight Slow Cooker Oatmeal. By gently cooking oatmeal overnight in a slow cooker you can have it warm and ready-to-eat when you want it. Online recipes abound with the proper measurements for the oats, liquids, and any additional ingredients, such as brown sugar or raisins. With this method, you can both control the sugar content and your costs. Even as convenient as individual oatmeal packets are, they easily cost 2-3 times the price of making several family-sized batches from one canister of rolled or steel-cut oats.   English Muffin Breakfast Sandwiches. Using a muffin tin, make cooked eggs the perfect size and shape to fit English muffins. Simply beat eggs with dashes of salt and pepper into a uniform consistency. Lightly grease muffin tin and then portion half an egg into each space. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes or until just cooked through, yet soft. Carefully remove egg circles from tin and allow to fully cool. Layer on an English muffin, along with other desired ingredients such as sliced cheese and precooked sausage patties or bacon. Place sandwiches in a freezer-grade bag and freeze. To prepare for eating, wrap sandwiches in paper towel and heat in the microwave for 1.5-2 minutes. Compared to paying $1-2 apiece for commercially produced frozen or drive-thru sandwiches, you can make a dozen for less than $9.    Breakfast Burritos. You can

I love what I do and can't wait to get going on today's episode. In order to help you save more, earn more and live more abundantly on today's show I'll be covering: How to Change Your Shopping Habits to Save Money Love Going Out? I'm going to give you $100 right now in this show. How to get paid for watching videos - - - - - - —   How to Change Your Shopping Habits to Save Money You watch the grocery budget, shop sales and use coupons when you can. But, somehow, you still can't seem to lower your family's food bill. You don't know what else to try. Good news, I might know what's happening. You could have some shopping habits you aren't even aware of. I've created a little quiz to help you to identify them and I'll give you suggestions on how to change your shopping habits to save money. Question #1 - Do you feel trapped into shopping the same store(s)? If you answered yes to this question, you might have a bit of a mental block in how you think about shopping.  Question #2 - Does your nose wrinkle up when people suggest buying things like bread from the dollar store? If you admitted you do (or if your nose wrinkled just reading this question), you probably have built up expensive biases without realizing it. Question #3 - Do you find yourself drawn to how packaging looks, rather than choosing products by the content, volume and quality? If so, you might fall victim to impulse or justification buying more often than you realize. (I'll explain justification buying below.) Question #4 - Do you look into your pantry, fridge and freezer and regularly end up throwing food away? If that's you, your buying habits aren't matching your eating habits, resulting in pricey food waste. Now let's fix these... Recommendation #1 - To get out of a “store rut” (shopping the same place), be open to exploring your area. Throw away the idea that you can only go to {insert store name of choice} for {insert item you always buy}. Why? There are smaller places that hold some of what you need and you may have never even considered them. Here is an anecdote that demonstrates this: Last week my friend ran into Walmart to grab a small list of specific items. As she entered the store, she nearly laughed out loud. There, parked in front, were two identical carts of shelf-stable groceries, wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. Adorning the fronts were the price totals; what you would pay buying at Walmart or at a “local competitor”. The totals were both over $100 and the amount separating the two was a mere $5 and change. This marketing display was intended to instill confidence in Walmart's “always low prices” - but it didn't. In a quick glance, my friend noted several items she knew she could purchase elsewhere and come nowhere close to paying $100 for the half-full cart of groceries. Furthermore, it completely ignored any store sales and coupons shoppers can take advantage of at other grocers. Save a mere $5 on over $100 in groceries? No, thanks, I can do better than that, Walmart. Recommendation #2 - Conquer your biases to really save money. As mentioned in the acetadote above, my friend knew she could buy several of the items at a local discount (aka salvage grocery store) for half of what it cost at Walmart. If your nose just wrinkled again, let me encourage you to check smaller stores before you just assume the quality is bad. I assure you, it isn't. Smaller grocers can save you up to 50% and it's the same products sold at the “big names”. To get you started, reflect back to our original Question #2. Many dollar stores (Dollar Tree...

Josh Elledge Show Notes Josh Elledge is the Founder & CEO of UpendPR and is about to change an entire industry with the mission to help entrepreneurs attract the perfect audiences through PR. Josh is Chief Executive Angel at SavingsAngel.com and helps consumers get discounts and upgrades on everything through his syndicated newspaper column with 1.1 million readers and on TV in 75 cities. He’s been in the media more than 1500 times. Through his new model of PR Josh now turns digital entrepreneurs into media celebrities at upendPR.com Most passionate about I have stumbled into a broken industry when it comes to serving the startup community. I’m referring to the Public Relations industry. The solution that’s been offered to startups is too expensive, there are no guarantees and it’s too risky. When I launched my company and needed PR there wasn’t a solution and In fact I really created the solution that I needed for close to ten years but didn’t excised. Our vision is to create an agency that will be able to serve way more than just hundred customers as it was in the old PR agencies, and actually I believe we will get there quite fast. Your company My first company that really did well was Saving Angeles and it was something my wife and I really needed. We were looking for a way to cut our grocery expenses, I was shocked to find how high it was. I tried to find a tool that will help us, and there wasn’t any tool that I felt can work for me. I understood the only way to cut our grocery expenses is by taking advantage of incentives from manufactures and retailers’ coupons and sales and I started to collect the information and managed to cut more than half of our expenses within a very short time. Than I thought probably a lot of other consumers can benefit from the information I collected. So we created a membership based website and since I didn’t have money to promote it I started to do PR and it worked!! We are making 6M$ a year from saving angel while we’ve spend less than 500$ beside PR. Then I got invitations to speak on TV on one hand and question of entrepreneurs that wanted to learn what I did on the second hand. That was the base for my UpendPR business. Your customers When I started my PR business I thought my customers will be very starting entrepreneurs that want to learn about PR, however in fact most of our customers are companies that already in the market for some time, after their early investment and need a PR solution to really increase the size of their business but can’t pay more than 1000-2000 Dollars a month. Josh best advice about approaching the customer Most entrepreneurial business owners struggling because they keep trying sell so hard, and it may covers the bills, however I believe that in 2017 and beyond the only way to really succeed is to invest in relationships and spend any minute in serving and giving and create value for your customers through building your sought leadership. Than the customers will come to you. Biggest failure with customers When I started as an owner of a small town newspaper I was so uncomfortable to sale, I was so scared so I ended up failing miserably. And after that for the next five years I did sales and marketing for a network of low firms and had to sale every day for a commission based salary. I was very miserable, and then, one day I suddenly realized that it’s not about convincing people to buy, it’s about listening to people needs and finding how I can help them. In the minute I understood that, I started to enjoy my connection with my clients and started to succeed dramatically. I found the win-win formula. Biggest success due to the right customer approach With Savings Angel I was featured in the local newspaper but one day I got a phone call from a reporter and it was from the Grand Rapids Michigan that wanted to interview me about savings angel and that was the first day we earn...

Greetings from sunny Orlando, Florida and welcome to the SavingsAngel show! I am Josh Elledge, consumer expert and money-saving advocate, and the Chief Executive Angel of SavingsAngel. I've appeared over 1500 times in the media, including on television in 76 cities and on the radio, and I write a syndicated newspaper column. Speaking of newspapers, I've been keeping my eye on the changes within newspaper inserts and ads for a long time. Over the past 9 ½ years since the inception of SavingsAngel - and even before that - I've kept track of trends in couponing and sales. In 2016, there have been a couple of notable changes from two large grocery chains, so we'll talk about those. After that, I want to wrap up our ongoing discussion about life insurance. We've covered a lot this month, but if you've missed any podcast episodes, you can listen to them at SavingsAngel.com, where I've discussed life insurance already. You will have an education in life insurance that will reward you for life. As always, I'm keyed up to help you to save more, earn more, and live more abundantly - so let's get to it! - - - - - - — I mentioned a few moments ago that I've noticed changes in two large grocery chains - in particular Whole Foods and Walmart. I've always advocated comparing ads and cherry-picking the absolute best deals, and it appears that method of saving is still going strong. However, ad matching appears to be drying up. Yep. You heard me right - and went ahead of me in your mind, I'm sure. Walmart ad matching - at least for groceries - appears to be coming to an end. Here's what I know... In a February 2016 survey, Market Force found that 79% of shoppers still plan their purchases based on the deals being offered, and 61% of shoppers compare prices between grocers. So that would lead you to believe that grocers would up their sale ad game, right? But neither Whole Foods and Walmart are. In fact, neither store has ever been big in the sale ad war in the first place. Whole Foods has traditionally released a very small sale ad each week. And Walmart has never really put out grocery sale ads at all. Rather, what Walmart releases is more of a flyer that features items at regular price, with a few "roll back" items tossed in here and there for good measure. So - let's talk about some changes coming to the Whole Foods brand... Whole Foods is rolling out a new store chain, called 365 by Whole Foods Market. This new store concept is designed with lower prices, and even offers coupons and loyalty rewards. The plan is to have a chain of stores that will compete for the business of comparison and coupon shoppers - while still maintaining the quality Whole Foods is known for. They just opened the doors to their flagship store in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles, CA and they have two others opening with a total of 12 locations announced so far. The concept isn't difficult to imagine. By simply not carrying as many high-priced and specialty items, and focusing more on Whole Foods' store brand products, they have the opportunity to attract more shoppers. And that may be all it takes. Because it's really the "high prices" perception they are trying to change, while riding the still rising demand for organic and local foods. As a consumer advocate who has watched those demands for years, I predict that the new chain could be quite successful. Especially since they are pairing lower prices with coupons and incentives. You can check out 365 by Whole Foods online at 365bywfm.com. Now - let's talk about some changes coming to Walmart... For years, Walmart has simply relied on slick marketing to claim they "always have the lowest price" - and now they're attempting to reinforce that concept. Although it has only affected about 500 stores so far, they have announced they are eliminating price matching. And they're not announcing which stores. That's right. No more price matching at Walmart - but you won't know...

Good day from sunny Orlando, Florida! I am Josh Elledge, the Chief Executive Angel of SavingsAngel. Welcome to the SavingsAngel show! As a consumer expert and money-saving advocate, I've appeared over 1500 times in the media, including on television and on the radio, and I hold a syndicated newspaper column. And I really am encouraged - and like to encourage others - when I hear of people giving back or paying it forward. No matter how you describe it, I've always advocated generosity - and we've always promoted it through SavingsAngel as well. It feels good - and I want YOU to feel good - but I want to make this happen easy for you. This week I want to give you two ways that you can be generous... First I'll have 8 ways to give back or pay if forward. Then I'll have 5 charities Retailmenot recommends for easy giving when you're shopping. And I'll wrap up this portion of the podcast with a caution about giving. After that, I want to continue our discussion about life insurance. Life insurance is a way to give to your own family - in case the unthinkable happens. So, even though it can be uncomfortable to think about, it's important. To help you even more, you can listen to my two most recent podcasts at SavingsAngel.com, where I've discussed life insurance already. It is life insurance awareness month. I'm eager to give to you in the form of knowledge, so get to saving more, earning more, and living more abundantly! - - - - - - — I want to start this portion of the podcast with a quick list from Retailmenot.com. They've put together a short list of charities that allow you to purchase merchandise while giving! I thought this was kind of cool. ASPCA When you buy merchandise from the ASPCA Store, 40 percent of the purchase price funds the work of the animal welfare group. You can also buy what's called a “symbolic gift,” with 100 percent of the purchase price benefiting an animal's life. 2. American Heart Association The American Heart Association runs ShopHeart.org, and 100 percent of proceeds after expenses go to support the American Heart Association's efforts to drive awareness and education of heart disease and stroke. 3. World Wildlife Fund Another source of presents for an animal lover is World Wildlife Fund, which allows you to symbolically “adopt” an animal as a gift. For instance, the recipient of a Panda Adoption Kit ($50) will receive a panda stuffed animal, an adoption certificate, a species information card, a photo of a panda and a gift bag. You can also adopt lots of other animals like cougars, kangaroos and wombats. 4. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital All the proceeds from the St. Jude Gift Shop benefit the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, which is famous for providing care for children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases. 5. Livestrong Lance Armstrong's Livestrong lives on beyond Lance's foibles - but hey they provide invaluable support to people of all ages with cancer, and the Livestrong Store has tons to choose from, especially when it comes to apparel. Along with these charities, you can peruse RetailMeNot's charity section for even more gift ideas that give back. Go to retailmenot.com/coupons/charity. And now, my list of 8 easy ways to give back or pay it forward. (1) Help a student: Students typically need to raise money for at least one activity or event every year. Don't want what they're selling? Ask if simply giving them cash is okay. (2) Hold a second-hand sale for a cause: Save yourself a lot of work by making the sale by donation-only, rather than pricing everything. Use social media to get out the details of the sale and the cause. (3) Tip generously - even if the service is poor: We typically give less when a server doesn't do a great job, but you don't know what they are going through outside the restaurant. So maybe it is actually the best time to give more generously. (4) Buy someone's coffee or lunch: Ask the...

Josh Elledge is the Chief Executive Angel of SavingsAngel.com – Consumer Advocate, Journalist, and Expert on money savings and time management issues. He is a syndicated columnist, TV, and radio personality. Josh is on a mission to help Americans save money and time so they can give. He is Founder and Chief Executive Angel of SavingsAngel.com, which bolsters the buying power of the average U.S. family by combining technology, coupons and smart thinking for extreme savings on household consumables and everyday items. WHAT IS THE NUMBER ONE THING A PERSON NEEDS TO DO TO SUCCEED IN SAVING MONEY? They need to respect their money. If you have no respect for it then you will spend it on stuff that doesn't have value and meaning to you. So if you respect your money, your money is going to respect you. HOW DOES THIS PRODUCE JOY IN YOUR LIFE? When you are doing something and you are only doing it for the money or you are only doing for security, but you are miserable, there never will be joy in that. Like a musician on a stage, joy comes when you have to do that thing even if you are worried that it does not pay that much. Even if podcasting does not pay that well  I know that God has blessed me with the ability to communicate through this medium and that is what I'm going to do. WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT SAVING MONEY BEFORE YOU GOT STARTED? I wish I would have known what I know now, earlier. I say that in jest because I am grateful that I did not have the knowledge then because I was able to gain these things by experience. I promise you that you will learn more powerfully through experience than through any book learning or any other kind of learning. It's putting these things into practice and that is such a powerful teacher. If I would have know at twenty years old how to spend my money better, I would have been able to keep my house. I would have been able to live without all the burden of the stress. I would not have had to put my family through that. Learn to love the rules of money because if you do you will lead a completely different life. It's not about how much money you make, it's about what you are able to do with that. WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES YOU SEE PEOPLE MAKING IN REGARD TO MONEY? Things like people buying new cars or buying a lot of new anything. I know it's fun to have a car with a new leather smell but  just look at the data at how fast a car loses it's value. We have to stop taking our financial and money lessons from marketers and sales people. We need to start thinking for ourselves and not be afraid to do our due diligence and ask ourselves about the things that are really important. Learn to spend less money on other people's profit. RECOMMENDED RESOURCE Be a student. I like to read and listen to podcasts and take in as much positive information as I can. RECOMMENDED BOOK Think and Grow RichThe Richest Man In Babylon DON'TS AND DO'S FOR FINANCES Don'ts Don't think that you know everything. Be humble, be coach-able Don't think if you are going to be financially responsible that you should not have any "blow" money. You don't have to stop it, you just have to be mindful of it. Don't put this off. You are flushing money away if you are not willing to look into this. Do's Do some searching and learning about how to effectively use coupons. Do buy more healthy food. You will be able to do that when you save more money. Do learn to love other people. Develop an interest of learning from different people even if you think their ideas are so different from yours. Be open to new ideas.
