Recorded: September 09, 2024 Episode 293 is HERE and The Boys brought in the big guns with none other than Nickmercs! Nick was a pioneer in the streaming industry with his early start in COD Ghost, to his blowup years playing Fortnite. Nick is now a father and a husband and is learning how to balance his full-time streaming job with family. Recently Nick has also had to deal with controversy surrounding his stream. Twitch banned him for the use of a word that he at the time did not know was a slur. Nick is here to set straight that he has love for anyone and everyone and wishes a happy healthy life to all. However, Nick is strong in his convictions and beliefs. So much so that seeing the tyranny happening worldwide led him to attempt joining the Navy Seals. Nick grew up wrestling and boxing. He comes from a family of CFB, and NFL talent. Something his father very much pushed him toward as a young kid. Nick had other plans. He and his dad (now extremely close) often fought when he was growing up, due to his Dad's lack of understanding the "gaming community" at its early stages. Nick and his father both talk about their healing relationship on the bus and how it now has effected Nick's outlook on raising his own son. The brand that Nick has built is still growing to this day, as he is now looking to enter back into competitive gaming. He reminisces with Taylor and Will on his Gears of War MLG days.. his hunger for competition and the feeling of accomplishment that he gained from winning tournaments. Taylor then talks ball and recaps watching Michigan's loss to Texas. Nick being a lifelong Michigan fan chimes in with his thoughts on the Wolverines. Both, then amp up Will's Cornhuskers. Could Nebraska officially be back? Will tells us his thought on the resurgence of The Big Red and his hype videos that he is making for Nebraska's home games in 2024. We hope you enjoy this episode! We hope Mitch's timestamps below meet your expectations. We hope you look under your pillow later tonight.. and who knows.. maybe find a big hug.. and just the tinniest lil kiss you've ever seen! On Thursday, March 19, BigTentUSA convened a TentTalk discussion highlighting the political stakes in Nebraska ahead of the 2026 midterms. With Aaron Parnas as moderator, independent candidate for U.S. Senate Dan Osborn pointed to rising living costs and a worsening economic outlook for farmers—driven by flawed economic policies and tariffs—as the defining pressures shaping voter sentiment. He made clear that these challenges are fueling a growing demand for change—and that voters have the power to demand better.Osborn called for meaningful campaign finance reform, arguing that local races should not require massive sums of money and that elected officials must remain accountable to constituents, not special interests. As a longtime registered Independent, he also urged participants to think beyond party lines and actively support candidates based on their ideas, integrity, and experience. The conversation positioned Nebraska as a critical proving ground for a broader movement toward accountability and reform.Osborn closed with a powerful call to action, encouraging immediate support for Nebraskans affected by the largest wildfire in the state's history—and reminding everyone that showing up for one another is where real change begins.Support Nebraskans affected by wildfires: https://www.nebraskacattlemen.org/disaster-relief-fundhttps://kearneyfoundation.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=3211https://tinyurl.com/7d6ptb75https://www.redcross.org/local/nebraska.htmlhttps://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usa-central-territory/western/https://www.nebcommfound.org/give/nebraska-wildfire-recovery-fund/Learn more about Dan's Senate campaign: https://www.osbornforsenate.com/Sign up for Aaron's newsletter The Parnas Perspective: https://aaronparnas.substack.com/ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:Dan Osborn is a steamfitter and former union leader who gained national attention leading the 77-day Kellogg's strike in Omaha in 2021. On this episode of Conduct Detrimental: THE Sports Law Podcast, Dan Lust (@SportsLawLust) and Mike Kravchenko (Watch on YouTube) are back for a March Madness edition packed with stories spanning prediction markets, college basketball, the White House, and NIL enforcement. The episode opens with Kalshi — and the escalating legal war between prediction markets and the states. Dan and Mike break down Arizona's unprecedented 20-count criminal complaint, the Ohio federal court ruling, the wave of cease and desist letters from 11 states, and why a Trump-appointed judge denied Kalshi's attempt to block enforcement. They explain the CFTC preemption argument, why FanDuel and DraftKings have every reason to root against Kalshi, and why this is shaping up to be the most significant sports wagering case since Murphy v. NCAA.From there, the duo covers the arrest of Alabama star Aden Holloway — four days before the Crimson Tide's tournament opener — on two felony drug charges. Dan and Mike break down why 2.1 pounds matters more than it sounds, the Fourth Amendment questions surrounding the apartment search, the Miranda moment everyone is talking about, and what it means that Alabama faded hard without him on the court.Dan and Mike then pivot to the point shaving scandal, where the first guilty plea has landed. Jalen Smith — identified as the linchpin of a scheme involving 39 players across 17 Division I programs — pleaded guilty to wire fraud, bribery, and conspiracy. Dan and Mike break down what his cooperation could mean for the players still under investigation and whether the NCAA has any real teeth left on gambling infractions.Dan and Mike then tackle the White House "Saving College Sports" Roundtable — 50 commissioners, ADs, and politicians in the East Room, zero athletes invited — and the executive order Trump promised in one week that has yet to materialize. The episode closes with a deep dive into the Nebraska NIL arbitration — the first major challenge to the College Sports Commission's authority — where 18 Cornhusker football players are fighting to recover over $1 million in rejected NIL deals. Dan and Mike explain the "warehousing" theory, why a 15-person startup regulator is already overwhelmed, and what a Nebraska state statute could mean for CSC enforcement nationwide.Let us know your thoughts!***Have a topic you want to write about? Bighorns in Nebraska? When one thinks of bighorns, you'd likely get a pass if you do not first point to green and yellow fields of corn as far as the eye can see. But there are mountains and excellent bighorn sheep habitat in the cornhusker state. In fact, before their extirpation in the early 1990s, about 1,000 bighorns and particular Audubon bighorns thrived in the Pine Ridge and Wildcat Hills regions of the Nebraska Panhandle. Over harvest by unregulated hunting, habitat loss, and disease were the primary factors of their disappearance. But due to the conservation efforts of Nebraska Game & Parks, and years of funding by partners such as the Wild Sheep Foundation, Iowa FNAWS, Nebraska Big Game Society, Midwest WSF, and others, bighorns have made a comeback. Translocated in multiple actions, from Montana and Alberta bighorn sheep are back and Nebraska Bighorn Program Lead Todd Nordeen and his exceptional team at Nebraska Game & Parks work tirelessly to keep them there. Sheep Fever co-host Gray Thornton sits down with Todd to discuss the history of bighorns in the state, their comeback, the set-backs that continue, as well as the path forward to return the their high of 1,000. The two go beyond Nebraska as well, diving into building source stock, the success of captive breeding at a facility in the historic Ft. Robinson State Park, future work at a new disease clearing facility, and the prospects of growing bighorns and thinhorn sheep throughout their range. Todd is a best in class wild sheep champion, humble, and effective. We're fortunate to call him one of ours in the WSF family.
