At the 2026 Winter Olympics, both Canada's men's and women's teams have been accused by opponents and officials of “double‑touching” the stone, which is against curling rules.“Double‑touching” means a player is judged to have touched the stone again after releasing it during forward motion, or to have touched the granite after the hog line, which by rule can lead to the stone being removed from play.Canada's Marc Kennedy (men's team) was accused by Sweden of doing this, and video shared by Swedish media appears to show a double‑touch.Canada's Rachel Homan (women's team) had a stone removed after an official ruled she double‑touched; she angrily denied it, saying there was “zero‑percent chance” she did.

As the Olympics near, we spotlight curling — a sport often forgotten outside of the winter games, but one that thrives year-round in eastern Iowa. We hear from Emily Nelson, marketing and communications coordinator for Cedar Rapids Curling, on the sport's history, its Olympic influence and why watching elite curlers inspires local players. Then, Charity Nebbe goes out on the ice with Kari Kozak, a founding member and events coordinator of Cedar Rapids Curling, for a crash course in sweeping and throwing stones. Later, historian Ricki King joins discusses her work preserving Iowa's Black history amid efforts to rewrite or erase it.
Rob's flying solo this week and it's a full-tilt sporting diary as he throws himself headfirst into the glorious chaos of the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina… from the comfort of his sofa (mostly). It all started pre-tournament for Britain's Curlers last Wednesday, before the week snowballs into opening ceremony splendour, men's and women's downhill drama, that terrifying Lindsey Vonn crash and the heart-in-mouth heli-ambulance evacuation, women's Big Air, Ice Dancing in the team event, and huge excitement as Jenn and Bruce battle their way into the semi-finals of the Mixed Doubles Curling.Somewhere along the way, things get a bit… real. The action ramps up, the FOMO kicks in, and Rob finds himself making a very impulsive, very last-minute decision that might just involve heading out to the mountains himself. He sets off tomorrow. Or does he?And because one sport-fuelled week apparently isn't enough, Rob also squeezes in Leeds United v Nottingham Forest, catches the start of the Super Bowl, and continues his budding love affair with the Broncos with a trip to the Challenge Cup clash against the Bradford Bulls. It's a rambling, joyful, slightly unhinged celebration of elite sport, emotional investment, and the dangerous idea that watching too much sport can lead to international travel. And don't go anywhere — this is just the warm-up. Make sure you're subscribed and ready to sprint back for a bonus episode next week… live from the Olympics.Comment with you Olympics best watch moments, like, follow and subscribe! @StageDoorAthletic#RobShawCameron #StageDoorAthletic #SportsPodcast #WinterOlympics #MilanoCortina #TeamGB #Curling #IceDancing #BigAir #SportsObsessed #SoloEpisode #UKPodcast #LeedsUnited #SuperBowl #LiveFromTheOlympicsHosts: Jack Loxton & Rob Shaw CameronEdited by: Rob Shaw Cameron@jackloxton1 @robshawcameron@thecourtofjames Stage Door Athletic is a [NON]FICTION PEOPLE Podcast © [NON]FICTION PEOPLE LtdPRS Licence: LC-002182Visit our website for more information on this and other great podcasts.Published by RiversideFMMilano Cortina (Official Soundtrack for Team Belgium Winter Olympics 2026) - Pegassi ℗ 2025 Sweet NothingSki Sunday - The London Theatre Orchestra ℗ 2003 Demon Music Group Ltd.

The 2026 Winter Olympics start this week, taking over northern Italy from Feb. 6-22. But while Jewish sports fan might be eager to root for their fellow members of the Tribe... there just aren't that many this time around. Canada isn't sending any Jewish athletes that we could find (having snubbed some key hockey players), which leaves the United States and Israel as the only visible representatives of Jewish athletics in this year's winter games. Fortunately, there are still some unique stories to watch. A.J. Edelman, who was recently profiled for Scribe Quarterly, has been on a years-long mission to qualify for Olympic sliding sports; he will lead his bobsleigh team—dubbed "Shul Runnings"—after coming 28th in the skeleton competition in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. American curler Korey Dropkin will look to hold Team USA's reigning gold medal in mixed curling. Israel is sending a sizeable delegation of nine athletes, including a brother-sister alpine skiing duo, a nationally celebrated figure skater, and a Floridian lawyer looking to break new ground in skeleton racing.

The July 1990 issue has a lot of ideas about your look. Some are good, like the spread of 40s-inspired swimsuits. Some are weird, like the Making It suggestion that you cut off the collar and cuffs of a buttondown shirt and just tuck them, loose, into a pullover sweater, hoping for the best. Some are simply Not Done anymore, like getting white girl "beach braids" on your visit to the Caribbean. We're telling you about all this and more -- including a bumper crop of all-new ads! -- in the July 1990 Fashion Etc. issue! QUICK LINKS

Lori and Mary are back with episode 6 of season 9 and a smorgasbord of curling talk. First up is a recent catch-up chat with Lori running into some Newfoundland curling stars in Ontario, and Mary revealing the new Super Team she is a member of. She's more than a member, actually; she's throwing skip stones! Event discussion then takes place with the weekend's European Championships and the Canadian Curling Club Championships, followed by fresh news that a new USA vs Canada “North American” championship has been created for recreational curlers! Next up are discussions over the Olympic road through Nova Scotia, and the reveal that competitors did in fact approach Sportsnet about not being consulted on Grand Slam format changes. Turns out the players weren't happy, and changes have just been announced. What's left? Various fun and silliness over the Beckham Dance (The Girls want to recruit Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing), and the Curling Legends upload of an old 1997 STOH match featuring our “Baby Girls”!
