Dr. Chris Bounds, professor of theology at Asbury Theological Seminary, has literally written the book on holiness … or should I say books. His most recent, co-authored with Matt Ayers and Caleb Friedman, is called Holiness: A Biblical, Historical, and Systematic Theology. But wait! There's more! Dr. Bounds has also done laudable work in the area of worship and has written a book together with Constance Cherry and Mary Brown called Selecting Worship Songs: A Guide for Leaders. In fact, he tells me he has collaborated over the years with Constance Cherry, one of the foremost scholars on worship, and interim President of the Robert Webber Institute for Worship Studies. She has written multiple books on the subject of worship leadership, including The Worship Architect: A Blueprint for Designing Culturally Relevant and Biblically Faithful Services. So that's the kind of person Chris is collaborating with as he delves into the study of worship. And that's what we wanted to talk to him about today. I hope you listen.
The lone known recording by Mary Brown and the United Echoes is a spirit-filled romp titled “The Judgment.”

Thanks to the Australian Pink Floyd Show... music by the original Pink Floyd is still reverberating in live performances around the world. As a tribute band, Australian Pink Floyd has sold over five million tickets to concerts and lit up stages in 35 countries. They played St. John's 19 years ago... and are coming back to wrap their North American tour with a show at the Mary Brown's Centre on Sunday night. We reached one of the lead singers in Australian Pink Floyd in Halifax earlier this afternoon... and started by asking him how the tour has been. (Krissy Holmes with Chris Barnes)
Christina Warren (a.k.a. “Mary Brown”) returns to the show. Topics include Apple's new iOS 18.1 and MacOS 15.1 betas (featuring Apple Intelligence), a little reminiscing about Gil Amelio and Steve Jobs, and the bizarre saga of TUAW, resurrected as a zombie AI slopsite.

Newfoundlanders discovered Whitney's account after the local chain opened its first international location in Northern Ireland earlier this year. She's amassed 183-thousand followers by making videos about Northern Irish slang, and its similarities to the Newfoundland dialect. The crew at Mary Brown's knew what they had to do: bring Whitney to Newfoundland. The Morning Show's Katherine Crummey stopped by the restaurant on Elizabeth Avenue yesterday afternoon to meet Whitney, and see just how similar the two places are.

It's a Blue Jays only edition of Going Deep, as Donnovan sits down with a pair of current Jays pitchers: Yusei Kikuchi (2:32) and José Berríos (14:33). He speaks with Kikuchi on what made him choose the Blue Jays, and what it means to have his family support him through the highs and lows of his tenure thus far. Plus, his wife Rumi - an accomplished broadcaster herself - takes Donnovan's mic and asks her husband some fun questions (7:23). With Berríos, the two discuss his charitable initiative 'El Dream', which empowers kids through baseball in his home of Puerto Rico. Afterwards, Donnovan chats with José Bautista (33:54), who returned to Toronto for the City Connect campaign, and to unveil his partnership with Mary Brown's Chicken. I finally got to meet the legendary Sarah-Mary Brown at this year's International at Stoneleigh. Because he was so busy being the chief steward, Danny Bennett left me in the capable hands of Jamie Hughes to arrange guests and keep the interviews coming. I was listing off my wish list of potential guests to Jamie and when I said Sarah Brown, he stopped me instantly and walked away. Seconds later, he came back with Sarah in tow and she agreed to do the interview. As you will hear, Sarah has an infectiously positive attitude when it comes to all aspects of farriery. Whether it's learning, competing, or pursuing higher level exams, her enthusiasm is quite apparent. Anyway, it was an honour to get to sit and chat with this very talented woman. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did. Episodes Intro: Dear listeners of the Female Guides Requested Podcast, happy Wednesday. I'm your host Ting Ting from sunny Las Vegas. Today I'm presenting you another episode of the Guides' Beta series with our guest Mary Brown. Mary Brown has worked as a guide manager at Alpine Ascents for almost 10 years. A guide manager is often the interface between guide services and their guides, and serves as a bridge between clients and guides. As a guide, I certainly appreciate how a competent and caring guide manager makes my life easier. However what exactly does a guide manager do? In today's episode we dive deep into Mary's role in Alpine Ascents to learn about her job description and duties. Since she has been in the industry for almost a decade, I was curious about what major trends Mary had observed. She pointed to climate change and a more diverse clientele as two areas that have impacted the way guide services operate. She described how guide services, for example, Alpine Ascents, had responded to the changes. We also spent quite some time talking about the awesome initiative, BIPOC Guide Development program, Alpine Ascents piloted in summer 2023. According to Mary the motivation of the program was to provide climbers of color an onramp to professional guiding and help the aspirant guides build their professional network. Mary provided strong reasons to justify the cost to Alpine Ascents. Hopefully other guide services will follow suit. I hope this episode help unveil the road map to becoming a guide. Now, give it a listen! What We Talked About:IntroWhat do you do?How did you start and how long have you been in this position?Almost 10 years - what did you learn from the industry? When Wallace and Mary Brown moved to an impoverished part of Birmingham, England, to pastor a dying church, they didn’t know that a gang had made the grounds of their church and home its headquarters. The Browns had bricks thrown through their windows, their fences set on fire, and their children threatened. The abuse continued for months; the police were unable to stop it. The book of Nehemiah recounts how the Israelites rebuilt Jerusalem’s broken walls. When locals set out to “stir up trouble,” threatening them with violence (Nehemiah 4:2–8), the Israelites “prayed to . . . God and posted a guard” (v. 9). Feeling God used this passage to direct them, the Browns, their children, and a few others walked round their church’s walls, praying that He would install angels as guards to protect them. The gang jeered, but the next day, only half of them showed up. The day after that, only five were there, and the day after, no one came. The Browns later heard the gang had given up terrorizing people. This miraculous answer to prayer isn’t a formula for our own protection, but it’s a reminder that opposition to God’s work will come and must be fought with the weapon of prayer. “Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome,” Nehemiah told the Israelites (v. 14). He can even set violent hearts free.
The United States and China are at a crossroads today. Will the two nations be enemies, or will they continue to engage with each other? Mary Brown Bullock, who first visited China nearly 50 years ago, explores this question in her latest book, China on My Mind. Her memoir describes being a missionary child in Asia, studying China from afar, leading the first exchanges of students, being a college president, and establishing an American university in China. Dr. Bullock, an optimist and long-term participant, concludes with today's uncertainty as many institutions including Duke University, Ford Foundation, China Medical Board, United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, and others face a new era of relations with China. In an interview conducted on December 21, 2023, Mary Brown Bullock discusses the past, present, future of U.S-China relations through the lenses of a trained historian, an academic administrator, and a frequent visitor. Mary Brown, also known as The Boundaries Coach, specializes in helping women overcome people-pleasing and learn healthy boundaries. With a professional background in social work, she helped thousands of families through challenges such as mental illness, addiction, abuse, and neglect. In doing so, she noticed the impact these issues have on women, especially when someone they love is struggling. Having grown up in a big family without boundaries, Mary could relate to these women because of her own journey of overcoming people-pleasing. She became a coach so that she could help women build confidence, set healthy boundaries, and practice meaningful self-care. Mary teaches boundaries centered on compassion, and her superpower is coaching others on how to have hard conversations from a place of love.
