Inramningen är påver, men nyhetsreportaget visar också att det är något som inte stämmer med inredningen. Allt är omkullkastat i huset efter de bombningar hennes by utsatts för, möblerna och växterna ligger huller om buller.I vardagens uppgivna klarhet lägger hon omsorgsfullt en make-up. Hon befinner sig någonstans i Ukraina, kameran följer henne nära, och i den anspråkslösa fåfänga som hon manifesterar tycker jag mig ana en protest, ett tyst uppror.Konsten att utöva motstånd – vad är det? När jag söker bland akademiska avhandlingar och essäer, eller exempel från den samtida offentliga debatten, så tycks idén om att göra motstånd ofta grundas i en maktlogik: konstnärer gör motstånd genom sin konst, aktivister genom sin aktivism och en rad professioner – vårdpersonal, tjänstemän, statsanställda - utövar också olika typer av motstånd genom att vägra underordna sig direktiv eller bestämmelser. Protesten riktas uppåt, mot den man uppfattar är överordnad.Motståndshandling – det ligger i själva ordets innebörd att vi kan iaktta ett handlande, ett subjekt med agens som med kropp, ord, och värderingsstyrd intention väljer opposition framför underkastelse eller bifall. Vi föreställer oss att en motståndshandling ska vara observerbar, den ingår i något som kan liknas vid en rit, en akt vi med blotta ögat kan iaktta och lätt känna igen.Men att utöva motstånd behöver inte alltid ske i det tydligt och igenkännbart manifesta. En protest kan framträda i andra former.Den ukrainska poeten Olena Herasymjuk är född 1991 och i verket Osynliga dikter undrar hon vem som kommer vilja bo här nu, vem kommer att återvända i våra spår till dessa trakter? Kommer de inte att gå vilse, kommer de fortfarande att kunna urskilja de gamla inristningarna i träden och de osynliga spåren i gräsets djup? Vilka ”de” egentligen är blir upp till läsaren att begrunda, för Herasymjuks frågor löper ur människans eviga ovisshet och poesins förmåga att fånga det outgrundliga i en obetingad detalj.Vi befinner oss alla på en specifik plats, där vi ofrivilligt rotas. När platsen förstörs eller erövras laddas vår forna position med nya betydelser, den omvandlas framför våra ögon. Någon annan än de vi kan föreställa oss kommer återvända i våra spår, men kommer de att se det vi ser? Är våra avtryck utan mening för dem? Det finns ett stråk av realistisk men utdragen melankoli i Harasymjuks bilder, det drömska grundas i en saklighet. Samtidigt bjuder hon in något annat, något som gör att dikterna lyfter – det mjuka motståndets estetik.Hon skriver i sitt efterord, i Mikael Nydahls översättning:När du har läst ut denna bok vill jag att du ska känna hur värdefull den frihet och den fred som omger dig är. Jag vill att du ska se på världen på ett nytt sätt, min käre läsare. Inte som en skör struktur som man måste gå runt och vara rädd att ta sönder, utan som ett system av mänskliga värderingar som måste försvaras i varje stund.Jag vill att mina texter ska motivera dig att hitta just de värderingar som det är värt att offra allt för. De kan aldrig vara särskilt många, välj bara ut det som får plats i din minsta ficka.Det är det som är meningen med livet.Det är alltså först när allt det vi tar för givet försvinner som vi tvingas börja leva vaket. Och litteraturen kan göra oss starka. Poesi lär oss tolka - inte bara komplexa texter utan även situationer. Litteraturläsning är den stora övningen för livets kriser, livets oväntade tillfällen, livets slut. All god litteratur inverkar nämligen på oss, och – som litteraturprofessorn Christopher Newfield påpekar så kan vi genom att läsa fiktion utveckla initiativkraft. Kanske är konstens tyngd en insikt som möter vårt existentiella bråddjups sanna erkännande först när allt är förlorat och måste erövras igen.”Allt kommer att avgöras i gryningen” skriver Olena Herasymjuk i en av sina dikter. När jag läser den raden påminns jag om kvinnan i ljusblå mohair-tröja, från tv-reportaget jag såg, hon som sminkar sig tidigt om morgonen som för att säga ”jag viker inte ner mig”, ”jag tänker inte hasa runt och vänta på ondskan, utan möter denna dag som vilken annan kylslagen tisdag som helst”. I hennes motstånd bor en övertygelse, som lågmält men konkret vittnar om att i civilisationens skugga finns strimmor av ljus, och det är vi människor och våra vardagsvanor som upprätthåller delar av civilsamhällets betydelsefulla fernissa. Kanske är denna polityr just tunn, men den säger att vi inte ger upp, det kommer en ny dag.I det mellanljus som följer på skymning och föregår gryning vilar en annan författares ande, den rysk-judiske poeten Osip Mandelstam. Det ljus som han använder i sin lyrik och prosa har vackert översatts till gråljus på svenska, av Bengt Jangfeldt och Göran Sonnevi. Mandelstam är en av 1900-talets stora poeter, och han fängslades, angavs, levde i exil, under den blodiga och omvälvande tid som inleddes med att kejsardömet föll samman i Ryssland, 1917. Hans politiska motstånd och längtan efter frihet i dikterna, frihetens gråljus, gjorde honom impopulär bland de styrande men ovälkommen också bland intellektuella, skrivande kollegor. Motståndet sammanföll i det politiska och poetiska. ”Det som är sant om en poet”, sa Mandelstam, ”är sant om alla. Det är ingen idé att skapa några skolor. Det är ingen idé att skapa någon egen poetik”. På så vis utövade han motstånd inte bara genom sin poesi utan också mot poesin själv.Och kanske är det så att det vi behöver mest i vår tid, i form av motståndskraft, kräver en ny slags uppmärksamhet. Poesin exponerar konstens inbjudande men mångtydiga gest – är vi observanta hittar vi till människans villkor i ett gråljus. Det lite mer introverta motståndets estetik är omstörtande för att det bekräftar allt vi redan vet men inte visste att vi kunde lära oss igen. Och om hoppet är det sista som överger människan kanske fåfängan, eller omsorgen om det yttre, sviker oss först när vi inte orkar längre.Om vi läser och förstår litteratur som en förberedelse, som ett sätt att överträda gränser, som en form av motstånd i vilken vi kan betrakta minnet, platsen och tiden genom återkomster - där det som står bär fram just konstens sanning, en sanning som aldrig är ute efter att bevisa något, utan som ställer frågor om sanningen – då kan vi vara kvar här, i denna hemska vackra värld, och med Herasymjuks ord lägga det som betyder allt i vår minsta ficka.Anna Victoria Hallbergförfattare och litteraturvetareLitteratur:Olena Herasymjuk, Osynliga dikter, övers. Instead, he came home to an unimaginable tragedy. The house was eerily silent, and outside he found his wife, Lindsay Clancy, seriously injured. She told him the children were in the basement.Patrick rushed downstairs, where he discovered his three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan, had been strangled with exercise bands. Cora and Dawson died that night, while Callan succumbed to his injuries several days later. Lindsay survived after jumping from a second-story window and was later charged with the murders of her children. Her defense argues that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible.
