***EDITOR'S NOTES*** Originally aired on YouTube on December 8th 2022. This was our second installment to the show as the first one we recorded was labeled as a pilot episode (That show, Lost Boyz “Renee” is still exclusively on YouTube as we don't have a physical copy of the recording as it was entirely done on Zoom. First lesson!) Even though this episode has been updated with a fresh audio remastering, it has a series of audio glitches as we recorded this one via Wi-Fi as Red & Bux originally planned to record these shows in their separate houses. It was made very clear by this second attempt (Episode 1) that this needed to change. It's also clear at this early stage of the podcast that Red & Bux were still trying to figure out what the tone of this show was going to be as there is a slightly more serious approach to these earlier episodes. As you follow the progression of each installment, you start to hear a more relaxed and playful approach to each episode as the show goes on. We hope you enjoy revisiting (or experiencing for the first time) these fledgling moments in Remember the Record. Please like, follow, rank and review this episode on whatever platform you prefer to listen to your podcasts and we look forward to sharing even more content as we continue to grow. In this riveting episode of "Remember the Record," our hosts Johnny Warbux, Kalashnikov Red, rewind time to the early 1990s. They discuss the transformative impact of Cypress Hill's hit single 'Insane in the Brain' on global hip-hop. This episode explores not just the journey of the legendary band but also the hosts' musical favorites, rivalries that shaped the hip-hop scene, and how Cypress Hill championed marijuana advocacy. The hosts dive deep into personal reminiscences, tracing their musical journey influenced significantly by Cypress Hill. The focus is on the band's varied discography, the uniqueness of each band member, and how they've impacted the hosts' styles and choices. Covered are lesser-known tidbits, such as Cypress Hill's tussles with other music icons like Kid Frost and Ice Cube. The conversation takes an interesting turn, discussing Cypress Hill's advocacy for marijuana. The hosts highlight the band's open endorsement of marijuana in videos and performances, a significant milestone in the movement towards its legalization. This thrilling journey through Cypress Hill's growth as a group features in this enchanting episode. Our hosts then navigate through a layered exploration of Cypress Hill's discography. They discuss their favorite songs, the influence of Cypress Hill on their musical journey, the evolution of their personal and professional lives. The discussion eventually morphs into an engaging recounting of iconic music pieces and artist rivalries, dissecting the exciting intersection of jazz and rap in Cypress Hill's records. As the episode progresses, the hosts spotlight Ice Cube's 'Friday' and Cypress Hill's 'Throw Your Set in the Air', uncovering the saga of the age-old beef between the two artists. In the final segment, listeners get to hear the hosts' picks between 'Killahill' and 'Boom Bitty Bye Bye Remix' based on their mood. The episode wraps, inviting listeners to chime in with their viewpoints, taking this passion-fueled dialogue about the heyday of rap music and hip-hop's evolvement to exciting new dimensions.

Straight Outta South Gate: The Cypress Hill Story On this week's episode of WatchThis W/RickRamos, Ibrahim & I bring it home with this fun discussion digging into Mr. Chavez's feelings, attitude, and memories of his hometown, South Gate, CA. - which also happens to be the birthplace of Latino Hip-Hop pioneers Cypress Hill. We look to cinema for inspiration and the new Showtime Documentary, Cypress Hill: Insane in the Brain (2022, Dir. Estevan Oriol) provides just that. It's a fun, informative, and enlightening talk for me and a trip through the past for Mr. Chavez. We discuss the 1990s and Mr. Chavez's hometown of South Gate, CA - its music, people, culture, and history. It's a goddamn good time that you're not going to want to miss. Take a listen and see if you agree. Questions, Comments, Complaints, & Suggestions can be directed to gondoramos@yahoo.com. Many Thanks!
Estevan Oriol put Los Angeles hip hop on the map with this documentary called "Cypress Hill: Insane in the Brain". What I mean by that really is that from the generation he participated during, he documented Los Angeles culture. In this doc, he reflects his time during touring and managing Cypress Hill and their impact in Hip Hop. He does very visually with archives of different kinds of mediums, it's very impressive and it does show passion from Oriol.
Here's a show on hip hop icons cypress hill. A labor of love is felt in this Synopsis The unique, smoke-filled story of trailblazing hip-hop group Cypress Hill. Director Estevan Oriol uncovers a treasure trove of never-before-seen archival footage to show the brotherhood of hip-hop artists – B Real, DJ Muggs, Sen Dog and Eric "Bobo" Correa – who built a musical movement rooted in true authenticity. Cypress Hill's genre-defying blend of Latin roots and West Coast style has withstood the test of time to create a truly original, everlasting legacy whose flame still burns bright today. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/drzeusfilmpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/drzeusfilmpodcast/support
