Today in the bathroom we are conducting a different kind of interview. We are interviewing one of our own, well, Ali is interviewing Cam. Why you might ask? Cam has recently released his brand new best selling book "Keep It Smooth: Life Lessons in ConfidenceBook by Cameron Daddo" and there is so much to delve into and who better to drag it out of him than Ali. This week Nicola and Di chat with the authentic and entertaining Cameron Daddo. Cam has been part of the Australian entertainment scene since the late 80s. He became the youngest prime-time game show host in Aussie TV history for Perfect Match and since then has gone on to become an award-winning actor, broadcaster and singer-songwriter. He’s also the author of a new book - Keep It Smooth: Life Lessons In Confidence and is passionate about men’s mental health, which led him to set up his non-profit organisation My Men’s Team. In this wonderful chat, we talk about so many different things. There’s laughter, tears and everything in between. We go right back to Cam’s childhood and the struggles he went through as a kid because he had a stutter. Cam talks about how he couldn’t even say his own name and how his stutter caused him so much anxiety. We also hear about the incredible teacher who reframed everything for Cam and how that changed his life. We chat about the early days of Cam’s career and what it was like after being such a successful actor in Australia, to move to LA and start all over again as a complete unknown and experience hundreds of knock backs and rejections. Cam opens up about his marriage with Ali, and is honest about the affair he had with his Models Inc co-star in the 90s, and how grateful he is that Ali was willing to stay and work on rebuilding their marriage. Cam is candid about how much therapy helped them work through everything and shares how they continue to work on their marriage - even after 33 years. Cam shares so many hilarious stories from his acting days and time in LA, as well as the adversity he went through after losing almost everything in the financial crisis of 2008. This difficult time prompted Cam to write an open letter to other men at the school his kids attended, inviting anyone going through similar struggles to talk. This led to the first Men’s Team, which is now a non-profit organisation, and is a place where men can come together, talk, listen and learn to become more resilient. We also chat about Cam’s brilliant new book, Keep It Smooth, and the different things he’s learnt about confidence throughout his life. This is such a wonderful conversation and we loved having Cam in the studio. He took us on a ride of highs and lows and we hope you get as much out of listening to it as we did. Enjoy. It's the last conversation of MID, Season Two, with our guest Alison Brahe Daddo. Ali was THE Australian model of the late 80s, on every magazine cover and on many a teenage girl's wall. She had a huge career here and overseas, and then she married the equally famous and swoon-worthy Cameron Daddo, backed right away from the industry, settled in LA and raised a family. Now, as Alison Brahe Daddo, or Ali, as very many of us know her, she's also become just the most honest, interesting voice about midlife and menopause and all the messy challenges it brings us. But in this episode, we're not actually talking about that. We're getting deep about surface stuff. Beauty, whatever it means to us - and let's be honest, there's a sliding scale of how much any of us can ever claim to have felt beautiful, at any age - is a beast in midlife. Because how we wear our age on our face and our bodies can feel so important, so crucial to how the outside world sees us, even as we know it's really the silliest of all our concerns. It often doesn't feel that way. Listen to Holly and Ali discuss how they're feeling, what they're doing about, and where they stand on the mistakes they've made in thinking and talking about our faces and our bodies as we move on through. Welcome to MId, Season 2, Episode 8. Beauty, with Ali Daddo. LINKS: You can follow Ali on Instagram here. Find her books and other projects here. THE END BITS: Share your feedback! In this bathroom, love is always in the air. But today's episode of Separate Bathrooms may make you rethink the L word. Cam and Ali are sitting down with a couple the Sydney Morning Herald once dubbed ‘experts in unconditional love,' CEO and Pastor of Wayside Chapel, Jon Owen, and his wife, Lisa Owen. Jon and Lisa share how they've lived out their radical approach to love, opening up their family home to addicts, refugees, single mothers, and anyone else who asked. They talk about raising their three children in this environment, protecting their mental health and dealing with burnout, and whether they've always been on the same page about their unconventional path. Cam and Ali's bathroom is looking especially spick and span today as they sit down with Alana Valentine, one of Australia's most critically acclaimed playwrights and author of Wed by the Wayside. Alana shares the stories of couples wed at the iconic Wayside Chapel, a controversial beacon of social justice and inclusivity in Australian history. From interracial and interfaith marriages to same-sex unions, divorcees, sex workers and bikies, Wayside welcomed all love at a time when many of these couples were turned away elsewhere. In today's episode of Separate Bathrooms, Cam and Ali are shifting focus from romantic to platonic love. For the first time, it's a friendship taking centre stage, not a romance! "After 10 days, I went back to London and said I've met a girl... I'm moving to Australia." A classically trained chef at the top of his game in the UK, Bake Off Australia's Darren Purchese had low expectations for his chance visit to Brisbane in 2004. He didn't expect to fall in love with Australian food – and an Australian girl, fellow chef Cath Caringbold. Join Darren and Cath as they step out of the kitchen and into the bathroom. On top of their dramatic meeting story and plenty of mouth-watering food chat, the couple talk working and spending all their time together, the difference between English and Australian scones, making tea for the queen, and how, for these chefs, there is no secret sauce... except maybe Darren's chilli crisp. Some of the most important, profound relationships in our lives are not romantic. While today's guests share 'rare' chemistry and a partnership that has carried them through tough times, in a bathroom first, they're in what some call a 'work marriage'. If you're familiar with Melbourne breakfast radio duo Jase Hawkins and Lauren Philips, you might know they've weathered some dramatic highs and lows together. Join Cam and Ali as they learn about the couple's 'seedy' first meeting, their turbulent start in radio, building on-air chemistry and off-air trust, finding the line when mining their romantic partners for content, and a prank call to Justin Timberlake that went sideways. Today in The Good Girl Confessional, host Sandy Lowres is chatting with Ali Brahe-Daddo who exploded onto the Australian modelling scene at the age of 16 and became the cover girl of Dolly Magazine. Over the years Ali's life would take her in many different directions including moving to Hollywood with her husband of 30 years, motherhood, (she has 3 children), fitness and teaching. Her first book, QUEEN MENOPAUSE – a friendly, frank, compassionate and comprehensive companion for any woman experiencing menopause – was published in 2022 by Allen & Unwin. She also Co-hosts with her husband, actor Cameron Daddo, on their hit podcast “Separate Bathrooms”. Interviewing some of the most interesting couples in Australia, they take a look behind the closed doors of their relationships. With her gorgeous smile and all-Australian beach body, she lit up the covers of Australia's top fashion and pop magazines. Cleo, Dolly and Cosmopolitan, kept her face front and centre with fashion spreads and stories. It was rare that she was not on the cover every month of one of these publications, well into the 90's. Now Alison's daughter has just signed to a modelling agency, in her 20's. Alison talks opening and honestly today about her perimenopause journey, and why sharing this journey has been so important in helping other women to navigate perimanopause. She is also open about attending therapy and how a 30 year marriage requires genuine work! This is a brilliant conversation! You can follow Ali Daddo here:https://www.instagram.com/alidaddoQueen Menopause is available at all good book stores and is available on Audible.https://www.audible.com.au/pd/Queen-Menopause-Audiobook/B09TWX4Q37-The Good Girl Confessional is the award-winning Podcast of WB40 - Women Beyond Forty, a platform for women 40, 50, 60 and beyond.
