For a band called Terror, their music provides a lot of the opposite. A safe haven and powerful home for people looking for meaning, looking for hope… and just those who get addicted to those really good breakdowns and stage dives early in life. It was great catching up with Scott Vogel, singer of Terror, Burried Alive, Despair, Bad Blood, Slugfest & World Be Free. We talk his childhood, growing up to and discovering hardcore and a the story of his life's work - the songs we love the most. Follow @ScandalousOfficial

Here's the latest in Hard N Heavy Headlines with Emmy Mack of RedHook! This episode is nothing short of sensational, featuring a story so bizarre it blurs the lines between reality and fiction. Imagine a hardcore band, Llorona, thrust into the spotlight not for their music, but for an internal scandal that's as shocking as it is unheard of. The lead singer has been ousted after admitting to secretly dosing a bandmate with estrogen, aiming to diminish his masculinity in a twisted plot to steal his fiancée. The revelation, coming to light through a drunken confession and a series of texts, has left the band, and the world, reeling. But the episode isn't all about band drama. We pay tribute to the legendary Chester Bennington of Linkin Park with the release of "Friendly Fire," a previously unheard song featuring his vocals, recorded during the "One More Light" album sessions in 2017. This gem will be part of an upcoming greatest hits album, a must-listen for fans and newcomers alike. And in a story that's sparking endless speculation, Ronnie Radke, the controversial frontman of Falling in Reverse, has vanished from the website X, formerly known as Twitter. With no explanation available, questions are swirling. Did Radke delete his account, or has he been banned for violating community guidelines?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Letty caught up with Dublin shoegaze/alt rock band Fulvetta before they went on stage at The Grand Social supporting U.S band post hardcore band Drug Church. The four piece consisting of AJ (Guitars/Vocals), Dylan (Drums), Grace (Bass) & Sam (Guitars) is Dublin's answer to the reincarnated shoegaze sound. The melancholic gloom of the 90s alternative echoes throughout as brooding guitar riffs drenched in reverb and fuzz intertwine with whispered layers of vocals to create an intense, yet melodic, wall of sound. Drawing influences from shoegaze pioneers Slow Dive, My Bloody Valentine, Hum and The Smashing Pumpkins, Fulvetta create a bite-size piece of 90s alt-rock nostalgia.

It was a pleasure to welcome Vince McCarthy (Vocals), Sean Keenaghan (Guitars), Kevin O'Brien (Bass) & Dave Hackett (Drums) of Hardcore band Ten Point Rule on to the show. Ten Point Rule were formed in 1998, played mostly in the Phoenix, and were part of a large underground punk/metal/hardcore scene. They recorded a 5 track CD 'Say my Name' EP in BPM studios in Douglas in April 1999 and launched it the following month in An Phoenix, one month before Dave, Seán and Kevin's Leaving Cert. It quickly sold out. In the interim of doing their exams and waiting for their results, the band went back into BPM studios in July '99 and recorded two tracks. However, due to lack of funds and the band amicably splitting up that same year, the tracks were never released. Myself, Howard & Evan chat to the lads, who are reunited for the first time in 25 years via Zoom, about the history of the band, the huge influence they unwittingly were to upcoming Irish Metal/HC bands and the re-release of 'Say My Name' EP with the two missing tracks. A unique episode in many ways I want to thank Ten Point Rule and Howard for organizing it and please 'SUBSCRIBE' to The Metal Cell YouTube channel! Thanks, Richie. All sales of the 'Say My Name' EP' will go to Corks Penny Dinners. Link to EP: https://tenpointrule.bandcamp.com/album/say-my-name-remastered

Band Members: Jay Valentine – vocals, Tom Aimson – drums, Jak Maden – guitars & Sam Baker – guitars. Letty catches up with drummer Tom Aimson for a chat about his drumming, influences and the preparation that went into the recording of their soon to be released album 'Severance'' on September 22nd via MLVLTD worldwide. UK Death Metal/Hardcore band Burner blitzed their three Irish gigs in Dublin, Cork and Limerick last weekend and instantly won over any neutral punter who was lucky to see their violent assault on the senses. With supports by Worn Out, LaVein, and New Mud there hasn't been a better bill for mosh pits this year. Thankfully Letty of The Metal Cell podcast was on hand in Dublin to catch up with front man Harry Nott to see what makes Burner one of the most exciting bands on the UK scene. It was a pleasure to welcome Jim Hodge (Vocalist) of sludge, grind and hardcore band Mastiff. I witnessed Jim and his band Mastiff put on a face melting performance at Damnation Festival in 2022. Mastiff have had the music press across the UK bestowing praise on them for the 2021 release, 'Leave Me The Ashes Of The Earth'. It's a crushing mixture of raging doom/hardcore/sludge that builds upon all their previous releases since they formed in 2013. I happened to met Jim after the gig and ended up having a great chat with him. When he said he had visited Cork before, the invitation was immediately handed out to come on the show to talk about his band, his life and that infamous visit to Cork. Hope you enjoy the episode and hit 'SUBSCRIBE' to the Metal Cell YouTube channel, if you haven't already! Myself and Evan have a brilliant chat with one the the nicest guys in the Scottish Metal Scene Finnbar Connell, drummer of Below The Neck from Inverness and co-ordinator/promoter at Broken Foundation Collective. Finnbar gives us an fantastic insight into the scene where he is from, how the band formed and what to expect from Below The Neck during the remainder 2022. Having recently completed a tour with Evan's band Worn Out in UK, it was a pleasure to witness first hand the blossoming bromance between these two and as you can imagine there is plenty of great stories to back up another reason why we have some many of our Scottish Metal brethren on the show. Myself and Evan have a great chat with Ryan, Colin and Chris of Northern Ireland Metallic/Hardcore band Axecatcher. Bursting onto the scene in 2012 the band were quick to make a name for themselves with the first single “The Odalisque” becoming a featured track on BBC Across The Line's feature 'That New Band Smell. With a string of critically releases behind them the band took a brief hiatus which saw them go through a few line up changes. In 2017, Chris joined and the three piece haven't looked back since. Their immense live shows have been smashing audiences up and down Ireland over the years; one need only listen to their brutal new album 'Tooth Over Claw' and it will have you checking tour dates for the band immediately. Having had the pleasure of seeing them support @wornoutnoise was enough to get Axecatcher on the show to convert more people out there to their exciting brand of Metallic Hardcore. Kill Her First is a Berlin-based Metal / Punk Hardcore band. The band's debut EP 'Insideher' was released in 2008. In 2014, Kill Her First's second LP 'Kill Her Sexismracismhomophobia First' was released for which they promoted the album on German prime-time TV show Circus Halligalli, resulting in them landing on the radar of German/French label KROD, where, in 2016, the EP 'Born To Be Strong' was released. In this episode we chat with Mike Riley. Mike is an old and dear friend of Pat and I. Mike is arguably the reason why Pat and I are actually friends. For those of you playing at home, Mike is the lead singer of the seminal Hardcore Band (although I think Dom likes to imagine its metal), Pulling Teeth. Mike is also a founding member of the famous Charm City Art Space, which was a cornerstone of the East Coast independent music scene/ punk scene for over 10 years. Before Pulling Teeth, Mike toured in bands like The Spark, Looks Like Rain, Paper Dragons and others. Mike also has run Toxic Pop Records, off and on for longer than I can remember too. Lastly even with all that, Mike has housed countless bands on tour. Normally I don't write all this shit out. Why am I doing that, you ask? The reason is Mike has been screwed a lot, like a ton. And it is hilarious (Most of the time). Enjoy!

The guests for this episode are members of As Everything Unfolds, the 6-piece melodic post-hardcore band from High Wycombe, U.K., vocalist Charlie Rolfe and guitarist Adam Kerr. They just released their debut album Within Each Lies The Other via Long Branch Records on March 26, 2021. From the time that Charlie Rolfe looked for musicians to start a band on an online directory, As Everything Unfolds have quickly become a band creating quite the buzz in the metal world while becoming a family of their own. Charlie and Adam run through the creation of As Everything Unfolds and the lessons about life and music they went through growing in adulthood as a band. With a mix of beautiful melodies over edgy riffs, Within Each Lies The Other shows the organic talents of the member of As Everything Unfolds. The youthful energy of the band comes out in their music and every part of their public personas as being able to chat with Charlie and Adam made me just fall in love with this band. Legally, episode-wise, Nate and Mitch can FINALLY drink, aaaaand they're going to refrain from it for 30 days. The Goon Tribe 30 (GT3*Sopranos OH*) This is The Goon Tribe's version of "Sober October" except we just picked a random time to do it. Feel free to join us!After the first few minutes having a full on discussion about alcohol, Nate and Mitch talk about "Entering the void". You'll understand when you hear it. Nate talks about some hardcore bands who have some vocal breakdowns that are a little laughable, but also bad ass at the same time. Separating the art from the artist is a hard thing to do, but we talk about Bill Cosby anyways. Things take a bit of a serious turn when we dive into religion. Specifically Christianity and how Nate walked away from it a few years ago and some of the reasons he did that. Things lighten up after the boys get nuts deep in the ball pit, or balls deep in the nut pit (if you prefer). Mitch talks about hitting golf balls and blasting fireworks with a childhood friend. New segment? Punchy and the Fat Lip: two radio hosts that riff off of each other like a couple of idiots. Mitch gets hooked up with some free coffee and maybe a boyfriend? He also recalls a few times in his life where a female has asked him out. Things close out with Mitch helping out a friend by serving papers and having an awkward interaction because of it. We hope you enjoy this and cheer us on during the journey of the GT3OH! Peace and love to you all. Formed during 1986 in Queens, Sick of It All began to accumulate a strong local following by playing famous clubs like CBGBs. Often revolving around politics, social injustices and life on the streets of New York, the band wore their heart on their sleeve and made no apologies, often including threads of positivity. While remaining true to their roots and without compromising their style, Sick of It All progressed from an indie band with a strong live following to a major-label act touring with the likes of Helmet and Rancid. Sick of It All remained a vital influence on the hardcore scene. https://www.sickofitall.com
