The Brutal Devine is the name of the new Spread Eagle album. It drops on Friday, June 12th, and the guys are here to tell me about it.The album contains 10 tracks. Produced by Rob, and written over the course of the past few years, the guys love this album. Rob said, "We made a fantastic record that we know our fans are going to like. So far, the reviews are off the charts." Ray chimed in, "It's a really well-written record, and we're really proud of it. It's solid." 1. Flat Earth Vultures2. Street Noise3. Gunflower4. Jail Rat5. Forbidden Local Honey6. Pushed to the Limit7. Ant Farm8. Scars in Our Eyes (City Kids)9. Inside a Shrunken Head10. Makebeliever"It's just a natural progression of things," Ray mentioned while talking about what the band has in place for 2026. We also talked about recording their debut album, some 36 years ago. Ray said his frustration with the recording process and using a big-time studio was a lot for the young singer. "As bad as that experience was, it's what had to happen at the time", Rob said. Rob talked about the backing of the label, Frontiers. "They're doing well. Anything is applicable." He said they seem to get the band. That's important. That's just for starters on this great conversation with the guys....Thanks for listening, and go get the album when it comes out!Enjoy!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Interview with Dave Rosenfeld (guitar) from Black Rose Rebellion. New Jersey hard rock band BLACK ROSE REBELLION who are releasing their new album, Hail The Rebel Queen, on May 29th via Pavement EntertainmentCurrent Singles: Hail The Rebel Queen (Releasing May 29th) For Fans Of: Halestorm, In This Moment, Shinedown, Evanescence, The Pretty Reckless Black Rose Rebellion is a modern hard rock band forged from strength, power, and rebirth. The Black Rose itself symbolizes major change, hope, and optimism—core themes reflected in both the band's music and the personal journeys of its members. The rebellion was born in June 2022, when frontwoman Trybe and lead guitarist/co-writer Dave “The RockDoc” Rosenfeld—complete strangers at the time—were each on the verge of walking away from music altogether. Introduced by a mutual friend despite coming from entirely different worlds, their connection sparked an immediate creative rebirth and laid the foundation for Black Rose Rebellion. Hailing from both the northern and southern halves of New Jersey, USA, the band has developed a powerful, genre-blending sound influenced by decades of rock and metal, while maintaining a bold, modern edge. Beyond the music, Black Rose Rebellion represents a brand built on individuality, resilience, and self-belief—encouraging listeners to stand for who they are and what they believe in. Lead guitarist Dave “The RockDoc” Rosenfeld has been a lifelong musician while simultaneously building a successful and highly decorated career as one of New Jersey's top dental practitioners. His precision, intensity, and passion translate seamlessly from profession to performance. Inspired by her husband's ambition and love for music, Karen “Kar Rose” Rosenfeld joined as drummer and co-founder. Her impeccable timing, hard-hitting power, and dynamic, lyrical playing make her the unmistakable heartbeat of the band. Frontwoman Trybe grew up immersed in music, studying piano and clarinet while deliberately avoiding the family tradition of guitar and drums. After a challenging transition following 13 years of service in the United States Army—serving in the JAG Corps, Operation Enduring Freedom, Civil Affairs, and later as a Drill Sergeant—she rediscovered music as a source of purpose and healing. A self-taught vocalist, her voice became her weapon, forging the commanding, powerhouse identity that defines Black Rose Rebellion. Brooklyn-born bassist Michele Mayhem brings a fierce, authentic rock edge shaped by years of live performance. Known for her powerful stage presence and grounded intensity, her experience and energy add a commanding dimension to the band's sound. Black Rose Rebellion came out of the gate strong, performing at some of New Jersey's most prestigious venues and directly supporting artists such as Sponge, Spread Eagle, and other rising national acts. With their debut album set for release in the near future, the band continues to grow its loyal following—The Rebel Army. Asheville artist, icon, and emerging comedienne Robin Plemmons is on the pod today to make us giggle, open our hearts, and show us what it looks like when we're stepping into our mastery. She's this insane combination of Brene Brown and Dave Chapelle, and everyone needs to know her and what she's doing. Robin did her first comedy show in Asheville earlier this year called "Spread Eagle at the Grey Eagle," where she hilariously and heart-feltly tackled the topics of trauma, healing and her ridonculous experience with Crohn's Disease and fistula in her nether-regions. Her next show is called "LOL SOB," (and is Dec. 26th in Asheville!) and touches on Helene, parenting, trauma, the election, and all the things swirling around her brilliant comedic brain. In this conversation, Robin and I discuss the power of vulnerability in comedy, and the importance of breaking the silence around personal health challenges and shame. We delight in how humor can be a tool for healing and connection, especially in the context of Robin's experiences with Crohn's disease and the support of her medical team. The conversation also touches on the legacy of Southern culture, the role of music in personal empowerment, and the joy of embracing one's inner child. We discuss the power of music to uplift spirits, the importance of celebrating unseen acts of bravery, the challenges of navigating grief, and the necessity of finding joy amidst crises. The dialogue emphasizes the significance of connection, support, and honoring all parts of ourselves, especially in the face of life's relentless challenges. *We also cuss a lot in this convo, we were feelin extra free and silly, so make sure little ears aren't around ;)

It's another big week on the Talkin' Rock with Meltdown podcast. John 5 is up first. We discuss his latest signature guitar, being part of Motley Crue's legacy, and a paranormal experience he had. That's for starters with 5. Steel Panther's Michael Starr is next, as they kick off their tour this week. He tells me about Corey Taylor playing on past Panther songs, burying the hatchet (or not) with rockers who aren't SP fans, and more. The dude is always hysterical! This week, we wrap up the episode with Ray West of Spread Eagle. They're playing the Token Lounge on August 25th. Ray talks about the new music the band is working on, his short stint in Lynch Mob, touring Europe, and lots more. Thanks for listening!
1990 was a year on the cusp of change. The world was watching as the Berlin Wall fell, signaling the end of an era. In pop culture, we were transitioning from the neon glow of the '80s into the more grounded and grunge-tinged '90s. But in the heart of New York City, a different kind of sound was brewing—a sound that captured the raw, untamed energy of the streets.Spread Eagle's self-titled debut album dropped in 1990, right before the tidal wave of grunge would alter the rock landscape forever. But before Seattle's gloom took over, bands like Spread Eagle were embodying the gritty, dangerous spirit of the urban jungle. If Los Angeles had its glitzy, Sunset Strip glam metal, New York had something dirtier, darker, and undeniably more real.Drop a couple bucks in the DMO tip jar ✌️Formed in the late ‘80s by members who had cut their teeth in the rough-and-tumble world of Boston's rock scene, Spread Eagle brought a level of authenticity to their music that set them apart from their more polished contemporaries. With Paul DiBartolo's blistering guitar riffs, Rob DeLuca's throbbing bass lines, and Ray West's raw, powerful vocals, the band crafted an album that was as much about attitude as it was about musicianship.Songs like “Switchblade Serenade” and “Scratch Like a Cat” are prime examples of the album's relentless energy. These tracks, dripping with the sweat of countless nights in dingy clubs, capture the essence of what it meant to be a rock band in New York City at the dawn of the ‘90s. This wasn't just music; it was a lifestyle—a survival mechanism for the band members who were living on the edge, both figuratively and literally. The album's lyrics paint a picture of a world where danger lurks around every corner. From the seedy underbelly of city life to tales of love and betrayal, Spread Eagle's debut is an unfiltered look at the world they inhabited. It's no surprise that this album resonated with fans who were looking for something more than the superficiality that had begun to creep into the rock scene by the late '80s.Yet, despite their raw talent and the album's undeniable quality, Spread Eagle didn't quite reach the heights of some of their peers. Perhaps it was the timing—just as they were finding their stride, the musical tide was turning towards the flannel-clad introspection of grunge. But for those who were there, and for those who have discovered this gem in the years since, the album remains a powerful testament to a band that could have been huge in a slightly different era.In many ways, Spread Eagle's debut is a snapshot of a fleeting moment in rock history. It's the sound of a band on the brink, both creatively and commercially, giving everything they had to make their mark. And while they may not have achieved the widespread recognition they deserved, the album remains a beloved artifact for those who appreciate the raw, unpolished power of NYC street metal. For anyone looking to dive back into the raw energy of late 80s Metal, or for new listeners curious about what else the era had to offer beyond the big names, Spread Eagle is a must-listen. It's not just an album; it's a slice of history, capturing a band and a scene that was every bit as vital as anything else happening in rock at the time. So, crank up the volume, let the gritty riffs wash over you, and take a trip back to a time when rock and roll was still dangerous.Songs in this Episode* Intro - Switchblade Serenade* 07:52 - Summertime (Bang)* 35:15 - 42nd Street* 37:16 - Broken City* 38:00 - Switchblade Serenade* 39:27 - Thru These Eyes* 44:25 - Hot Sex* 57:28 - Thru These Eyes* 57:38 - Sweet Child O' Mine (Guns N' Roses)* 59:17 - Dead of Winter* Outro - Spread EagleMake Your Metal Voice Heard! In our quest to explore the depths of 80s metal, we rely on you, our listeners. This season on my podcast, Baring It All with Call Me Adam, I am highlighting My Entertainment Idols.Today, I am going back in time and Behind-The-Curtain to bring you this blast from the past, my 2013 interview with Nicki French, award-winning international recording artist, known for her smash hit dance version of Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart."In this interview, Nicki is Baring It All with Call Me Adam about:How she handles her success What she loves about musical theatreHow she decides what songs to recordWhat she loves about the creative process in putting an album togetherSo much moreSpecial Thanks:Theme Song by Bobby CroninPodcast Logo by Liam O'DonnellEdited by Adam RothenbergUnderscore Music by CutiqueConnect with Me:Website: www.callmeadam.comFacebook: @CallMeAdamNYCInstagram: @CallMeAdamNYCMore on Nicki French:Nicki was born in Carlisle, Cumbria to Mum Eileen and Dad Joe. Music was destined to be in the family – dad played the drums when he was younger, and mum the violin. Nicki's brother, Tim, is very musical too – a guitarist and singer who is a fabulous song-writer. However, her two sisters, Allison and Carolyn, stayed away from music – probably plenty to listen to already in the household! The family moved down to Tenterden in Kent when Nicki was four years old. Always a keen singer, one of her early memories was sitting next to the radio, listening to the new chart rundown and singing along to all the songs, when Auntie Sally, her Godmother, came in and said to mum and dad, "She'll be a singer when she grows up!"The first ‘gig' came at the age of seven, when Nicki was chosen to sing a solo - the first verse of "O Little Town of Bethlehem" at the Infants' School Christmas Concert! From then on there was no turning back! A few years later she won the local talent contest, and within the year had joined her first band, Krisp, run by Tim and his friend Kelvin. They worked the most salubrious places – working mens' clubs and holiday camps – wooh! From the age of 16, Nicki studied Music and Drama at West Kent College in Tonbridge, Kent, passing her ‘A' Levels two years later. At the annual college musical, she played the lead role of Laurey in Oklahoma!, earning rave reviews for her performance. She then moved up to London and started auditioning for bands and theatre shows. Not many know that Nicki actually was part of a duo in the early 1980s – name of Whisky and Sofa! They released a song called "Dirty Den," about the Eastenders character! It was played on the Radio One Breakfast Show and that was about it! Amazing though, it was written by an extremely well-known writer, Barry Mason. He wrote "The Last Waltz" for Engelbert Humperdinck and "Delilah" for Tom Jones. Credibility sadly was NOT in existence on "Dirty Den."Nicki started working the pubs and clubs, moving onto gay pubs and clubs a short while later – The Spread Eagle in Shoreditch was her first! However the most exciting show for Nicki was at the Player of the Season annual dinner/dance at Tottenham Hotspur FC – her team! They had just signed a new player and were introducing him to the fans – a player by the name of Paul Gascoigne, and Gazza and all the other players got up on stage with her to perform a couple of songs – a special moment. Nicki had been working on the gay scene for some time, when she made one of her regular visits to perform in a club in...

Sebastian Bach is my latest guest on Talkin' Rock with Meltdown. He's dropping a new album, in his words, sooner than you think. "It's coming very, very soon." He talks about the first single "What Have I Got To Lose?" which you can see below. That song is co-written with Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge/Slash. He talked about joining up with him. Detroit's own John 5 is also on the album, along with others. He reminded me that this is the third album he's collaborated with 5. He also spoke about the fact that he wouldn't mind getting back with the original members of Skid Row. "Us five musicians haven't been in the same room together since 1996, and I barely remember the year 1996." He went on to say that he's over whatever happened in 1996. "I'm over it." He talked more about that, including the fact that he owns all sorts of demos and unreleased tracks from the early days of the band. Sebastian also talked about the Skid Row tour with a very young Soundgarden on the Slave To The Grind tour. When asked if he could see that band blow up like they did, he talked about the darker vibe of the grunge movement at the time. "I come from a time where rock and roll was nothing but fun." He elaborated "I didn't get into rock and roll to be depressed. I got into rock and roll to escape depression." He spoke of hanging with Chris Cornell after the shows and the ultimate demise of the legendary singer. We had to talk about KISS. He's a huge fan and told me the story of seeing the final show in New York. He also spoke highly of the KISS reunion show at Tiger Stadium in 1996. He called the show the "biggest rush" when they came on the stage that night. A moment he said he'd never forget. "Probably the most exciting concert moment of my life." Rob DeLuca from Spread Eagle playing with Sebastian for many years. He gave me some fun tour stories to ask him about. Those are crazy stories.
