This week we continue with our summer series “Disputing with God” with Psalm 88, the Bible's most unrelenting lament psalm. The speaker cries out to God from the depths of the pit, lamenting about the pain, suffering, and isolation that makes their life seem like a walking death, even accusing God of being the one who has caused them to suffer. And yet in this dispute, there is no response from God. Night and day the speaker cries out, from morning until night, every day since their youth—and God simply does not engage. We think of all the ways this psalm can speak to the pain of our own lives, giving voice to that which we might fear to voice before God. And we wrestle with what it means to dispute with a silent God, who is simply nowhere to be found.
This week we continue with our summer series “Disputing with God” with the story of the prophet Jonah in Nineveh as told in Jonah 3:1–4:11. While we have often read Jonah as a comedic parody of Israelite prophecy, this time we explore what happens if we take Jonah's concerns about God's mercy seriously. The Ninevites are, after all, the very people who will destroy the northern kingdom of Israel some 30 years after Jonah's prophecy, so God's compassion for them ultimately has disastrous consequences for Jonah and his people. This leads us to the question of the cost of compassion. What do we do when God has mercy on enemies who mean us harm? And how should we respond when God calls us to do the same? Like the book of Jonah itself, our conversation ends with an unresolved question. But what an urgent question it is.
Credit repair dispute mistakes, FCRA dispute letters, and the rookie errors that get your disputes ignored or rejected. Daniel Rosen walks through the five most common dispute mistakes and exactly how to fix each one so the credit bureaus have to respond. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: HERE Disputing looks simple on the surface. You write a letter, you send it, you wait. But the bureaus are actively looking for reasons to dismiss your disputes as frivolous, and most beginners hand them an easy out without realizing it. Daniel explains why citing the wrong law, or skipping the legal citation entirely, kills a dispute before it starts, and why Section 611 of the FCRA is what puts the bureaus on the clock. From there he covers timing and targeting. Disputing a brand-new collections account too early can backfire, and going after accurate negative items just because you don't like them burns goodwill you'll want later. Daniel shows how to focus your disputes on genuinely inaccurate, unverifiable, or incomplete items, why disputing no more than five at a time keeps your submissions from getting flagged, and how vague language like "this doesn't seem right" gets round-filed while specific, legal, actionable wording forces a real response. The biggest mistake of all is giving up after one round. The bureaus are counting on you to get frustrated and walk away, so Daniel lays out what to do when a dispute comes back verified: send a Method of Verification letter, go directly to the furnisher, and document everything. Whether you're just starting your credit repair business or fixing a process that isn't working, this episode is a practical playbook for getting disputes done right. Tune in! P.S. This week we are reading one of the Bible's most famous disputes with God – Abraham's insistence that God should have mercy on Sodom for the sake of its righteous, found in Genesis 18:16-33. Now, we love mercy as much as the next guy, but this time around we wrestled with the profound entanglement of the righteous and the wicked in this story. There is no discussion here about simply stopping the wickedness in one way or another, or even just eliminating the people perpetrating wickedness while leaving the righteous alone – they are all in it together. But if mercy in this case basically means ignoring the land's outcry and letting the wickedness stand ... what does THAT mean for the innocent who continue to live there? In a modern society that so values individual autonomy, how do we think about the ways in which our fates are inextricably tied?
This week we continue with our summer series “Disputing with God,” picking up where we left off last time with the story of the repair of the relationship between God and Israel after the incident of the Golden Calf, as told in Exodus 33:1–23 and 34:1–9. God is at first so angry about the Golden Calf that God seems to be finished with Israel, sending the messenger with them to the Promised Land but the divine presence remaining on Sinai lest God's anger consume them. By the end, though, through the mediation Moses, God and Israel seem to accept one another as they are. The people confess they are stiff-necked, but God commits to being with them in spite of their shortcomings. Likewise, God reveals a divine Self that is anger as well as compassion, but nonetheless the people would rather stay in the wilderness with God than to enter the Promised Land alone. This relationship is messier than we might like, but God and the people remain together in the messiness, committed to a future together.
Philippians 2:14 Welcometo Pastor's Chat. Today our verse is short, simple, and extremely convicting. We are looking at Philippians 2:14, which says, “Do all things withoutcomplaining and disputing.” What a powerful command. Paul has just told usthat God is working in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Now hetells us that one of the clearest evidences that we are surrendering to God'swork and God's will is that we stop complaining. Thinkabout the nation of Israel. Complaining was one of their greatest sins as theyjourneyed through the wilderness. They complained about the food, theleadership, the hardships, and the direction in which God was leading them.Even after witnessing miracle after miracle beyond imagination, they grumbledagainst God. The truth is, we often do the same thing. “Complaining”reveals a heart that is dissatisfied with God's providence. “Disputing”refers to arguing, questioning, and inward rebellion. Paulsays, “Do all things.” Did you notice that? Not some things, but allthings without complaining and disputing. That includes difficult jobs, familypressures, interruptions, disappointments, church ministry, trials, andsuffering. James tells us to “count it all joy” when we fall into varioustrials and temptations. Now, this does not mean we never express concernswisely or lovingly. There is a difference between seeking solutions and havinga grumbling spirit. I have met many people who have grumbling spirits. Nomatter what happens, they always have something negative to say. They rarelyseem to say anything positive. It becomes evident that their ungrateful andunthankful hearts reveal a lack of trust in God and an inability to see Him atwork in their situations. Acomplaining spirit destroys joy, unity, and the testimony of believers. Remember,Philippians is the epistle of joy. Joy and complaining cannot live in the sameheart at the same time. It is impossible. Why do we complain? Think about it.Usually, it is because pride tells us we deserve better. Humility says, “Lord,I deserve judgment, but You have given me grace, and I am so thankful.” JesusHimself is our example. Think about all that He endured: rejection, betrayal, false accusations, suffering, and the cross. Yet 1 Peter 2:23 says, “When Hewas reviled, He did not revile in return.” You see, grumbling andcomplaining contradict the very spirit of Christ. We represent a graciousSavior. He has been so good to us. He has blessed us in countless ways.Sometimes our greatest witness is not how we act when life is easy, but how werespond when life is hard. Theworld expects bitterness, anger, and negativity. But when believers respondwith peace, gratitude, trust, and patience, people notice. Complaining spreadsdarkness, but gratitude spreads life. Today, ask yourself: What am Icomplaining about? What situation have I resisted instead of surrendered? HaveI trusted God's wisdom in my circumstances? 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Ineverything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ for you.” Noticeit does not say to give thanks for everything, but in everything. Godmay not cause every difficulty in our lives, but He uses every difficulty forHis glory and for our growth in Christ. So today, instead of complaining, choose gratitude. Instead of disputing, choose trust. Instead of focusing onyour problems, focus on the goodness of God. A thankful heart is one of theclearest marks of spiritual maturity. May God help us to have that kind ofheart. Let'spray together. Father, forgive us for our complaining and disputing. Teach usto trust You even in difficult circumstances. Fill our hearts with gratitudeand help us reflect the spirit of Jesus Christ. May our attitude point othersto You. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen. Godbless you and may you have a wonderful, wonderful day!
In this first episode of our summer series on Disputing with God, we are reading the story of the Golden Calf, Exodus 32:1-20 and 30-35. We've read it together before, but the regular lectionary stops us pretty early in its unfolding ... and we found that moving farther into the story directed our eyes not to the Israelites or to God, but to the space between them–their relationship, still fairly new and fragile. And you know what else is right between them–our man Moses, holding the tablets, trying to reach in both directions at once. What's left after this kind of rupture? What's possible?

"Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world" Philippians 2:14–15

In this sermon, based on Philippians 2:14 ("Do all things without grumbling or disputing"), Pastor Rich Jensen urges Christians to actively work out their salvation by putting aside sinful attitudes and embracing godly ones. Grumbling and disputing, common sinful behaviors, are likened to idolatry and immorality. Instead, believers are called to be blameless and innocent, shining as lights in a crooked world. This involves imitating Christ, holding fast to the Word of Life, and advancing God's kingdom through preaching, prayer, and righteous living, even amidst struggles. Pastro Jensen emphasizes that salvation is a gift of grace, but Christians should strive for sanctification, avoiding theological compromise and moral failures, and fixing their eyes on Jesus. The sermon concludes with a call to prayer for strength to live out these principles.#philippians2 #grumbling #Disputing #christianliving #sanctification #blameless #innocent #lightoftheworld #reformedtheology #holdfasttotheword www.ReformedRookie.comPodcast: https://anchor.fm/reformedrookieFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheReformedRookie Twitter: https://twitter.com/NYapologistSemper Reformanda!

Draft BACP Ethical Framework for 2025 – REBT: Clear Definitions In Episode 354 of the Counselling Tutor Podcast, your hosts Rory Lees-Oakes and Ken Kelly take us through this week's three topics: Firstly, in ‘Ethical, Sustainable Practice', we explore the draft BACP Ethical Framework for 2025 - highlighting key proposed changes and what they might mean for practitioners. Then in ‘Practice Matters', Rory speaks with Ruth Hill about REBT – Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy – offering clear definitions and practical insights for working with beliefs and emotional responsibility. And finally in ‘Student Services', Rory and Ken discuss how to navigate personal triggers in counselling training - and why these moments offer powerful opportunities for growth. Draft BACP Ethical Framework for 2025 [starts at 03:29 mins] In this section, Rory and Ken discuss the new draft of the BACP Ethical Framework and how it reflects the evolving nature of therapeutic practice. Key points discussed include: The draft framework is currently under consultation and is expected to be finalised in late 2026. It reflects major societal and professional shifts since 2018, including online work, AI, and anti-oppressive practice. The updated framework introduces a clearer, more directive tone - replacing “should” with “must” in many areas. There is a new emphasis on relationships and collaboration, moving away from a purely rules-based approach. Key ethical principles have been rephrased in simpler language to improve clarity and accessibility. Practitioners are encouraged to engage with the framework, reflect on its implications, and prepare for its rollout. Draft BACP Ethical Framework 2025 BACP Ethical Framework 2018 Comparing the BACP Ethical Framework 2018 and 2025 REBT: Clear Definitions [starts at 29:04 mins] In this week's ‘Practice Matters', Rory speaks with integrative REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy) therapist Ruth Hill about her CPD lecture on REBT and how the model supports emotional responsibility and belief change. Key points from this conversation include: REBT is founded on the principle that we are disturbed not by events, but by our beliefs about those events. It encourages clients to take ownership of their emotions by identifying and challenging unhealthy beliefs. The ABCDE model is used to explore activating events, beliefs, consequences, disputes, and emotional effects. Healthy emotions are distinguished from unhealthy ones - supporting clients to feel appropriately without becoming overwhelmed. Disputing techniques help clients develop flexible, reality-based, and empowering alternative beliefs. The ultimate aim is for clients to become their own REBT therapists - building resilience and autonomy. Personal Triggers in Counselling Training [starts at 52:17 mins] In this section, Rory and Ken reflect on how personal triggers in counselling training can emerge and how to manage them constructively. Key points include: Triggers are emotional responses often rooted in past experiences, activated by present-day stimuli. Training environments can unintentionally bring up difficult material - through discussions, peers, or course content. Recognising a trigger is the first step in managing it - grounding techniques and mindfulness can be useful in the moment. Reflection, journaling, and seeking supervision or personal therapy can support deeper processing and growth. Triggers are not a sign of weakness; they offer valuable opportunities for personal and professional development. Tutors and peers can provide compassionate support - creating a safer learning space for everyone involved. Rebecca Culshaw Smith's Substack, “The Real AIDS Epidemic,” highlights core criticisms of mainstream HIV/AIDS theory, medical testing, pharmaceutical practices, and challenges to scientific orthodoxy. Based on her popular posts, interviews, and thematic content, these are 20 of the most important ideas advanced on her platform: 1. Questioning the existence of HIV as a unique virus, arguing that classic virological isolation (Koch's postulates) has not been fulfilled. 2. Highlighting the non-specificity and cross-reactivity of HIV antibody tests, leading to potential misdiagnosis. 3. Criticism of “viral load” PCR tests for not detecting whole pathogens but only RNA fragments. 4. Noting the shifting criteria for HIV test positivity over time, calling diagnostic standards into question. 5. Documenting long-term “non-progressors” and “elite controllers” who remain healthy without antiretroviral therapy. 6. Raising awareness of AIDS-defining illnesses in HIV-negative individuals and questioning causality. 7. Arguing that hazard from AIDS medications (e.g., AZT, Truvada, Prep) may outweigh their benefits, especially due to their toxicity and inconsistent trial results. 8. Critique of the marketing and deployment of pre-exposure prophylaxis (Prep), calling it a pharmaceutical “scandal” targeting people not at significant risk. 9.Exploring how COVID-19 public health narratives mirror what she views as deception and fear tactics from the AIDS era. 10. Disputing the epidemiological narrative that AIDS is globally caused by a single infectious agent, and highlighting massive regional/demographic inconsistencies. 11. Exposing groupthink, censorship, and reputational shaming used against scientists questioning the HIV/AIDS paradigm. 12. Emphasizing failures of antiretroviral therapy in preventing disease progression for many patients. 13.. Explaining the statistical and mathematical problems in foundational HIV/AIDS research and the “shaky foundation” of guiding studies. 14. Arguing that AIDS-defining diseases may often reflect toxicity, malnutrition, or existing comorbidities, not a distinct viral syndrome. 15. Linking historical and social factors (such as drug use, pharmaceutical incentives) to the creation and persistence of the HIV/AIDS establishment. 16. Alerting readers to issues of false positive antenatal screening and broader concerns about mass diagnostic testing in medicine. 17. Suggesting that “virus-like particles” in the body are misidentified as pathogens, not proof of HIV's existence. 18. Forecasting that advances in AI and technology may help overturn scientific “consensus” by increasing transparency and debate. 19 Publicly refuting hit pieces and attempts to “cancel” her work as ideological suppression, not science. 20.Advocating for a return to fundamental scientific rigor and genuine skepticism in medical research, especially around virology and public health narratives. These topics synthesize her core objections to HIV/AIDS orthodoxy and frame her Substack as a point of dissent and critique against modern medical paradigms and their social consequences.

Credit, when managed the right way, can help anyone take control of their money. Leveraging credit can give you access to cash, save you money, and help you purchase things you otherwise wouldn't be able to have. That's not to say that carrying balances and accumulating debt that you can't pay back is a wise move, because it's not! However, there's a difference between credit and debt. That's why I'm so excited to talk with Christina Roman from Experian about how people can master their money with credit. If you view credit and debt as one in the same, I hope you finish this episode feeling empowered to have the system work with you, not against you! Here's a glance at this episode: [04:59] “Credit is a financial tool. Debt is a financial problem.” Christina breaks down the difference between credit and debt. [12:15] Curious why your credit score varies wherever you look at it? Christina shares why that happens and why it's normal. [20:20] Disputing an incorrect item on your credit report is easier than you think. Learn about the ways you can initiate the dispute process. [30:13] Making small charges on your credit card and paying those charges off shows that you are responsible with credit. [38:30] Christina talks about collection accounts and how they could impact your credit score, depending on the model. Rate, Review, & Follow: Did you love this episode?
