William Drabble, executive chef at Althoff St. James Hotel & Club, talks with James Shillinglaw of Insider Travel Report about his new restaurant, Francatelli's, with cuisine inspired by Charles Elme Francatelli, the chef at the St. James Hotel in the 1840s, who ended up becoming Queen Victoria's head chef. Episode 073 of Sonitotum with Matthew Wayne Selznick features an interview with author P. A. Cornell -- the first interview since episode 10 in 2018! P.A. Cornell is a Chilean-Canadian writer who penned her first speculative-fiction story as a third-grade assignment (a science-fiction piece about shape-shifting aliens). Her debut science fiction novella Lost Cargo was published in 2022 by Mocha Memoirs Press. You can learn more at pacornell.com or find her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Our conversation covers P. A.'s early and current influences, why and what she writes, her definition of success, developing the intuition to know when a story's going to work, creating around depression and anxiety, and a whole lot more. This episode was recorded on February 27th, 2023. The conversation with P. A. Cornell was recorded on January 18th, 2023. Links and Topics Mentioned in This Episode My day job? John MacKenzie chats with Paul Drabble, local Anti-Crime Advocate, about a new "Citizens Force" initiative. As the crime crisis worsens, a Citizens Force initiative would be there to act as a support system for our most vulnerable victims of crime, and to assist police in any way. "It's about being vigilant, not being a vigilante" Mr. Drabble was quoted. Paul's commentary comes just as a local resident, Natasha Baddock, used her van to jam in a group of youths in an allegedly stolen vehicle, causing them to flee on foot.

This episode, Brooke brings four completely wordless 9 Chickweed Lane strips to the podcast. Would words have helped some of these strips? I think we all know the answer to that is: Probably not. We discover that Go Comics has three separate sections of this god-forsaken comic: 9 Chickweed Lane, 9 Chickweed Lane Classics, and Staff Favorites. From the Classics category, we see Edda dancing and Edda watching Edda dancing, if that makes any sense. Chances are it doesn't, which is totally on-brand. McEldowney's (almost certain) nudism is again discussed. Sven & Fleurette "Fleurry" Spocket are introduced, along with their calf, who is either their pet or lover. Both? Edda confuses a mysterious dog for her husband Amos. And finally, Edda dives into a pool for reasons that you seriously will not believe. We discover that Brooke (Dillman, not McEldowney) would forgive this comic strip if only every installment ended with a picture of a dog covering his eyes with a paw out of embarrassment. The Chickweed strips we discuss this episode: The first three are here. (https://twitter.com/9chickweedRAGE/status/1566137704588267520?s=20&t=16g6ovDH823K4lR-m_t3qQ) The big Sunday strip is here. In this third episode of Series Three, host Andrew Martin meets author, genealogist, and counsellor Helen Parker-Drabble to find out how she got hooked on family history, what exactly is a 'geneatherapist', and how she uses this skill within her research to help understand her ancestors' psychological inheritance. Life Story: Walter Parker Helen has chosen to tell the life story of her Grandfather Walter Parker, who was born in the village of Upwell in Norfolk, England in 1885. Walter is also the central topic of her book 'A Victorian's Inheritance'. We'll hear about how a 21 year old Walter's silent protest led to him having to choose either to leave the family home in Thorney, Cambridgeshire, or see his family evicted. He chose emigration to the prairies of Winnipeg, Canada, but sometimes the problems that you're trying to escape from, escape with you. The Brick Wall: Walter Parker! Helen has chosen to stick with her Grandfather Walter Parker, as she needs our help to solve a conundrum. Walter emigrated to Canada in March 1907, and she has many pieces of evidence, including passenger lists from the SS Ionian, and postcards, to support this. Yet, there's a vaccination card from the same ship that has survived amongst his papers, stamped from almost exactly one year earlier. What does this mean?- Did he manage to afford to travel to Canada twice in a year?- Was the SS Ionian stamping vaccination cards with the wrong year?- Was this card someone else's, and if so why did Walter have it, and keep it? If you think you can help Helen with a clue or research idea that can help her break this brick wall, then you can visit her website, her twitter, or drop her a message via our contact form, and we'll pass it on. In the meantime, Helen jumps at Andrew's offer of help, but will he be able to get her aboard on time? - - - Episode Credits Series Three, Episode Three Andrew Martin (Host/Producer) Helen Parker-Drabble (Guest) John Spike (Sándor Petőfi) Debanjali Biswas (Photography) Show notes can be found at: familyhistoriespodcast.comTwitter: @FamilyHistPod

Today on the show we have Gareth Drabble, Director of Customer Success, Northern Europe at ContentsquareIn this episode, we talked about what led Gareth to Contentsquare, the recent acquisition of Hotjar, and what it means for Contentsquare, we then talked about how they plan to structure their customer success team as they scale, and what fuels its growth. In this episode of the Versus History Podcast, we interview Alec Marsh about his brilliant new book, 'Ghosts of the West'. It is a fascinating tale and our interview covers so much interesting content about the historical basis for the story, both British and American ...When daring journalist Sir Percival Harris gets wind of a curious crime in a sleepy English town, he ropes in his old friend Professor Ernest Drabble to help him investigate. The crime is a grave robbery, and as Drabble and Harris pry deeper, events take a mysterious turn when a theft at the British Museum is soon followed by a murder. The friends are soon involved in a tumultuous quest that takes them from the genteel streets of London to the wide plains of the United States. What exactly is at stake is not altogether clear – but if they don't act soon, the outcome could be a bloody conflict, one that will cross borders, continents and oceans… Meanwhile, can Drabble and Harris's friendship – which has endured near-death experiences on several continents, not to mention a boarding school duel – survive a crisis in the shape of the beautiful and enigmatic Dr Charlotte Moore? For terms of use, please visit www.versushistory.com
