On Monday, Oct. 7, my organization, Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), co-hosted with Michigan Lighthouse Ministries a press conference with more than 50 pastors from across the State of Michigan, noting the atrocities committed last year by Hamas terrorists against Israeli citizens and expressing solidarity with the State of Israel. We chose a church in the state of Michigan for this program because Michigan is home to the largest Arab American population in the country. It is also home to Rep. “When [social security] was first established, you had 40 workers for every retiree. Today, we have three workers for every retiree. You also have people living longer, and you have all people forced into this system that they don't own … and they can't transfer it to their heirs,” says Star Parker. She is the founder and president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) and editor of the book “The State of Black Progress.”America's social security system is broken, Parker says. And it's not just social security. She argues that America's welfare and safety net programs are all built on a one-size-fits-all model that fails to actually help the poor. Instead, they entrench generational poverty in certain communities, she argues.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.
In this eye-opening episode of Life Lessons with Dr. Bob, we sit down with Star Parker, a fierce advocate for conservative values and the founder of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE). From a tumultuous youth spent on welfare and drugs to becoming a leading voice in conservative thought, Star shares her incredible journey of transformation. Discover how her faith and determination helped her escape the cycle of poverty and dependence, and learn why she believes government intervention is not the solution to America's social woes. In 2020, Star was appointed by President Donald Trump to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights California Advisory Committee to share her experience lifting troubled communities. Welcome to CURE America with Star Parker! This week, we're addressing how Democrats have systematically attacked Byron Donalds using a selectively edited video clip. We're here to set the record straight by presenting the entire footage for you to judge and form your own opinion. Joining us in this discussion are Richard Manning, President of Americans for Limited Government; Marty Dannenfelser VP for Government Relations at the Center for Urban Renewal and Education CURE; and Jonathan Alexandre, Senior Counsel at Liberty Counsel Action. Together, we'll dissect these systematic attacks on Donalds and their broader implications for the political landscape. In addition, we'll examine the recent escalation of violent pro-Hamas protests against cultural institutions especially in NYC. Later in the show, we'll have an insightful interview with John Sweppie from the American Principles Project, where we'll explore some critical perspectives that affect the future of our nation. Our conversation with our panel dives into the upcoming elections, highlighting key states and the strategic maneuvers shaping the political landscape. Furthermore, we'll analyze the profound impact of left-wing policies on poverty and their role in fostering anti-Israel sentiments. Stay tuned for these critical insights and more, only on CURE America with Star Parker!
Dom welcomes in Star Parker, President of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), which she founded in 1995, back onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss a new book that she provided the introduction for titled The State of Black Progress: Confronting Government and Judicial Obstacles, which examines developments in the black community and a trend toward conservativism. Parker explains the reasons behind the shift, noting that many are waking up to the realization of the damage that's been done by progressive policies on the black community, with tons looking at what they face in a Biden economy and recognizing how much better things were under the Trump administration. Then, Giordano delves into the issue of school choice, a topic that would benefit the black community deeply, noting that rappers Jay-Z and Meek Mill have now thrown their support behind the issue, with Parker explaining why the theory makes sense. Full Hour | Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by broadcasting live from the Jersey Shore, telling that he's broadcasting from the studio of his friend Harry Hurley, host on the shore station WPG Talk Radio 95.5FM. Then, Dom welcomes in said friend Hurley, who spent time working alongside President Trump, to take us inside the mind of the future President as he gears up for the 2024 election. Also, Harry tells us about a great charity golf tournament he's organized that's raised over a million dollars. Then, Dom continues the Dom Show by playing back clips from President Trump's visit to Detroit, where he again floated an idea in which tips for service employees should no longer be taxed. Then, Dom welcomes in Star Parker, President of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), which she founded in 1995, back onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss a new book that she provided the introduction for titled The State of Black Progress: Confronting Government and Judicial Obstacles, which examines developments in the black community and a trend toward conservativism. The Democrats are in a full-blown "freakout" over President Biden's constantly dismal polls. Even with President Trump stuck in a courthouse for weeks on end, President Biden still trails in all of the swing states. But the left has much more to fear than just low poll numbers. As Trump's rally in the Bronx proved last week, Americans of all races and ethnicities are disgusted with the Biden record. Even though many of them never voted for Trump before, they are now. Democrats are terrified and they should be.Today, Sara welcomes Star Parker, a syndicated columnist and the founder of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) to discuss what is changing in the minds of many minority voters, the campaign messaging that will work with them, and the rhetoric that could still drive them away from the Republicans. Many years ago, Parker believed all the lies about the left about feminism, sexual liberation, abortion, welfare and so much more. But after her powerful conversion to Christianity, she saw those lies for what they were and she has committed every day since then to warning others about the destruction peddled by the Democrats and championing the freedom, dignity, and success that traditional conservative values promote.Parker also shares some simple wisdom on what Republicans should and should not say to sway minority voters. She says pointing out their embrace of the failed policies of Democrats for many years is an especially bad idea. What will work? Finding out the one issue they each care about most and offering solid solutions from the border to the economy to education to crime or whatever that issue might be.It's a powerful, high-energy conversation about Americans busting out of their political stereotypes, rejecting the failed leadership of Joe Biden, and embracing ideas and candidates that understand them better than the Democrats. Please visit our great sponsors:Goldcohttp://saralikesgold.comGet your free gold kit today and learn how to get $10,000 in bonus silver. Christmas around the world is a celebration of our Savior, a celebration that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not counting our sins against us. God's proof that he loves us enough to die for us. God's proof that he is not mad at us, but came as the propitiation of our sin, to wash us to forgive us, from all of our sin. So for this week on CURE America, Star Parker shares her own testimony of what she believes, why she believes it, and what brought her to our nation's capital to start the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE). With Jonathan Alexandre as host, we go through the history of Star and CURE, the issues at the forefront of America, how they impact our most distressed communities, and the work that Star and CURE continue on in the dedication of restoring faith, freedom, and personal responsibility.
Black leaders from Project 21 demand that Verizon reinstate One America News (OAN) on its television platform. In a letter signed by 37 members representing the communities of business, politics, media and faith, Project 21 explained that Verizon did "a tremendous disservice to its subscribers, investors and free speech [and]... is silencing black voices" when it canceled OAN. Verizon stopped carrying OAN on its Fios platform at the end of July. Its cancellation marked the end of a 17-year relationship between the news channel and the carrier. Left-wing groups are aggressively pushing media companies to drop the conservative-leaning OAN from their platforms. In the letter, Project 21 said: "Do what's right for black America, for your investors and for the country by reinstating OAN immediately." In the letter addressed to Verizon Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hans Vestberg, the three dozen Project 21 signors criticized the abrupt decision that appeased political special interests over viewers, noting this imperils access to information and debate: "Allowing a political pressure campaign to decide which news and information programs Americans have access to undermines free speech and sets a precedent that will only encourage further demands. This is particularly dangerous as this pressure appears to only go one way - anti-conservative and, in this case, anti-black." "You have now projected weakness, inviting those further demands," Project 21 warned Vestberg. It was suggested Verizon's capitulation could lead to the removal of other channels in the future. Among those who signed the letter to Verizon are Project 21 Chairman Horace Cooper; Stacy Washington, a host on SiriusXM satellite radio; Alveda King, founder of speakforlife(.org) and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; Star Parker, president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE); Julian Boykin, CEO of Acquisition Consulting Experts; Reverend Albert Sampson, president of the Chicago's Metropolitan Council of Black Churches and Chris Arps, host at NewstalkSTL-St. Louis. A full copy of the letter and its signers is available at https://nationalcenter.org/project-21-oan-letter. Project 21, a leading voice of black conservatives for over 25 years, is sponsored by the National Center for Public Policy Research. Its members have been quoted, interviewed or published over 40,000 times since the program was created in 1992. Contributions to the National Center are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated, and may be earmarked exclusively for the use of Project 21. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/john-aidan-byrne0/support

It's the dream of pretty well every Canadian to own their own home. Do you remember the time you got the keys to your first home? I do. It's a goal fulfilling feeling. But, it's a dream out of reach for many Canadians right now, which is why all the federal parties are preaching about their platforms to provide more affordable housing. Will any of the parties' plans for affordable housing work? Affordable housing is defined as spending no more than 30 percent of the family income on rent or mortgage payments. When it rises above that, it forces people to cut back somewhere else. At the beginning of the election campaign, affordable housing was the top priority for most Canadians. Prices across the country have been on the rise with Toronto and Vancouver leading the way. The average price of a home in T.O is now north of $1 Million. Not exactly an affordable price tag for those entering the real-estate market for the first time. Our Unpublished.vote question asked: Which federal party has the best plan to create affordable housing? The Liberals, Conservatives, NDP, Green Party or People's Party of Canada? The Unpublished audience's response was… - Liberals = 6.2%- Conservatives = 70.1%- NDP = 9.3%- Green Party = 2.1%- People's Party = 12.4%However, you're watching and listening to our show, whether through our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, or on our podcast channels—iTunes, GooglePlay, Spotify, iHeartRadio and more—I would like to remind you that you can “cast your vote” on this topic at Unpublished.vote, and then email the candidates in your riding to tell them why. The expert opinions on the benefits of diverse classrooms are spilt. Some studies demonstrate student progress in racially isolated classrooms while others demonstrate great benefit to diverse settings. Our guest this month, Dr. Amy Stuart Wells is the co-author of a report supported by the Century Foundation that supports the latter. Amy Stuart Wells is a Professor of Sociology and Education and the Director of the Center for Understanding Race and Education (CURE) at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is also the co-Director of the Public Good, a non-profit public school support organization for racially and ethnically diverse schools. In February, 2016, Wells and her colleagues published a Century Foundation report on the Educational Benefits of Racially Diverse Schools and Classrooms. Her research and writing has focused broadly on issues of race and education and more specifically on educational policies such as school desegregation, school choice, charter schools, and tracking and how they shape and constrain opportunities for students of color. Wells' on-going research project, “Metro Migrations, Racial Segregation and School Boundaries,” examines urban and suburban demographic change and the role that public schools and their boundaries play in who moves where. The final report from the suburban research phase of that project, Divided We Fall: The Story of Separate and Unequal Suburban School Districts 60 years after Brown, was published in Spring 2014; related articles were published in the Washington Post Answer Sheet, The Atlantic CitiLab, and Long Island Newsday. She received her Ph.D. from Teachers College in 1991. She was an Assistant, Associate and Full Professor at UCLA 1991-2001. She has been a professor of Sociology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University since 2001. Please join us for an exciting show on May 11 at 2pm!
Whose job is it to take care of the needy: the government, or the church? In this episode Kevin talks with national black conservative leader Star Parker. Parker is the founder and president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), a think-tank devoted to creating market-based solutions to fight poverty. She has spoken on more than 190 college and university campuses about anti-poverty initiatives. In addition to these qualifications, she is intimately acquainted with the issues of poverty and welfare from experience: Star spent seven years of her life in and out of welfare dependency. How did Star overcome her disadvantaged situation? It turns out that the welfare system only caused her to remain dependent, and prevented her from working for fear that she would lose all of her support. It wasn’t until she became involved in a church, which encouraged her to entrust her needs to God and release herself from the welfare system, that she was able to rise out of poverty. To this day, Star believes that it is the church and not the government that can truly help the poor. Government welfare is one-size-fits-all, but every impoverished person and family has different needs that only individual attention can address. Kevin and Star discuss a variety of topics in a search for real solutions to this tough issue. Go to UrbanCure.org to see what Star and her organization are doing to address current social issues. This episode first aired on June 21st, 2015. We make video lessons to raise up confident Christians: https://educateforlife.org/
As the Unaffordable Lack-of-Care and Patient Victimization Act goes into effect (at least on paper), the news keeps mounting on how it negatively impacts working Americans everywhere, and the news is worse than it sounds. Will everybody be funding their own early deaths and the deaths of others? Will working Americans be forced to pay for someone else's abortion? Is this the road to standing before a death panel to justify your continued existence? Join us as we explore how this fundamental change in American health care will affect this and future generations to come. Plus, the Senate is poised to fund Obamacare, and one lone Senator from Texas is opposing all funding for it. Senators play with your future and your health and your paychecks. We also welcome Lonnie Poindexter from the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE). CURE is the organization started by Star Parker to provide economic and social solutions to poverty in America's black communities. From the website: "Regarding abortion, the liberal agenda is really about two things. One, an alleged right to sexual promiscuity and two, an alleged right to have others bear social and financial responsibility for that promiscuity."
