Analysts Don Kellogg and Roger Entner discuss encouraging developments at Comcast that are likely to benefit internet users, along with Starlink's evolving role in the broadband market.00:25 Comcast announces new price plans and guarantee 05:26 Competition is driving service improvements 07:04 Contracts are unnecessary with quality products 07:37 Guarantees are now commonplace 10:41 Use cases for Starlink 13:10 Episode wrap-upTags: telecom, telecommunications, wireless, prepaid, postpaid, cellular phone, Don Kellogg, Roger Entner, Comcast, Xfinity, internet, cable, data caps, router, contracts, guarantee, fiber, FWA, Starlink, customer service, Charter, AT&T, Verizon, Fios, Chris Winfrey, MSO, Elon Musk, BEAD

Ouça a entrevista.
Hour 1 Boomer and Gio convened in their usual spots, with Gio recounting the high costs of a Disney princess makeover for his daughter, before questioning Boomer about the Giants' quarterback strategy following the Jameis Winston signing. Boomer asserted they must draft a quarterback if Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders are available. Jerry's update featured sounds from Cam Ward's pro day, Adam Schein's dismissal of the Winston signing, and Juan Soto's reunion with his former teammates during the Mets-Yankees game. Jerry also played audio of Brandon Tierney debating callers about premature celebrations after St. John's single win. The hour concluded with Boomer discussing his successful fundraiser at The Tap Room and his reading of "A Boy Named Boomer" to his grandson's class. Hour 2 Dan Hurley's post-game comments about officiating, including an alleged threat to a reporter who filmed it, stirred controversy, prompting Boomer to question athletes' academic commitments and generating mixed caller reactions. Jerry's update covered Cam Ward's pro day, Carlos Mendoza's playful banter with Aaron Boone about Juan Soto, Ian Eagle's favorite sports movie, and Jay Williams's critique of NIL's impact on mid-major teams, along with NHL updates. The hour concluded with a humorous anecdote about Gio's mother-in-law's Fios installation ordeal and a caller defending Hurley's outburst against the referees. Hour 3 With Opening Day approaching, Gio highlighted the Mets' challenging division and their bolstered offense, emphasizing their pitching concerns. Boomer analyzed the Yankees' lineup, noting a lack of speed. The discussion shifted to legionnaires' disease and Mookie Betts's health, with Boomer speculating on a bacterial infection or virus. They also reminisced about the five-year anniversary of remote work during the pandemic. Jerry's update included Cam Ward's pro day, Puka Nacua's early retirement plans, Deion Sanders's critique of the "t-step," and Dan Hurley's "60 Minutes" appearance. The hour concluded with Gio considering attending Peter Schwartz's arena football team press conference. Hour 4 Rumors swirled about Deion Sanders hoping the Giants would draft Shedeur Sanders, though no concrete evidence surfaced, prompting Boomer to discuss the high-stakes gamble for the Giants' management. Gio debated the team's quarterback strategy, emphasizing the pressure to secure a successful pick to maintain job security. Jerry's final update featured Cam Ward's pro day, a brief Jets draft discussion where Boomer dismissed a quarterback pick, Adam Schein defending Dan Hurley, and Colin Cowherd's WNBA commentary. The "Moment of the Day" highlighted Jayden Daniels' mom's warning about a dangerous snapper, and the show concluded with Gio's spring fever and Boomer's reminder of lingering cold weather, particularly in relation to the Mets' and Yankees' opening days.

//The Wire// 2300Z November 12, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: MORE AIRCRAFT HIT WITH SMALL ARMS FIRE IN HAITI, ALL FURTHER FLIGHTS GROUNDED. INTERNET/CELLULAR OUTAGES OCCUR AROUND THE UNITED STATES.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Haiti: Small arms attacks on commercial aircraft continue. Following the previous Spirit airlines effective Surface-to-Air Fire (SAFIRE) incident that wounded one flight attendant, a JetBlue aircraft that had flown to Port-au-Prince that same day was also later found to have suffered similar combat damage. Upon inspection after arrival in New York, JetBlue Flight 935 was found to have at least one bullet hole in the fuselage of the aircraft. Yesterday afternoon, a third aircraft, flying American Airlines Flight 819 was also found to have small arms damage as well. As ground fire has become light-to-moderate in the vicinity of Port-au-Prince, the FAA has grounded all civilian commercial flights into and out of the country for the next 30 days, in addition to the individual airlines suspending their flights into Haiti for several months. This afternoon the United Nations also suspended all flights into and out of the nation until further notice.-HomeFront-USA: Yesterday the FDA issued a recall of roughly 79,200 pounds of Kirkland brand butter sold by Costco. The reason for the recall is not due to any contamination or safety concern, but due to the label not explicitly stating that butter contains milk. AC: As one might expect, the ridiculous nature of this recall (and the FDA's recommendation to dispose of or return the butter) has served as more of a societal observation than a label error itself.USA: Various nationwide internet/cellular outages from a variety of carriers have been reported throughout the day. This morning a Verizon outage was reported for many customers throughout the northeastern US. Most of the outage appeared to have impacted FIOS customers along the east coast, who largely reported a total blackout of internet connectivity earlier today. No details were provided by Verizon regarding the origin or cause of the outage. This afternoon, T-Mobile customers reported similar outages out west, with reports of major cellular outages throughout southern Utah. Google Fi and Boost Mobile customers also reported random issues throughout the day.Kentucky: This afternoon an explosion occurred at a factory in Louisville, resulting in catastrophic damage and the hospitalization of at least 11 employees. An explosion of unknown origin was reported at the Givaudan Sense Colour factory on Payne Street. A one-mile shelter-in-place zone has been established around the facility as many workers remain either missing or potentially trapped in the rubble. -----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: Initial analysis of what caused the blast in Kentucky is still ongoing. Explosions at industrial facilities are more common that one might think. However exceptionally catastrophic damage from such a kinetic explosion as this one is rare, especially one at a facility that primarily manufactures additives and coloring dyes for various food products. Analyst: S2A1//END REPORT//

Frontier has heavily invested in its fiber network, totaling $4.1 billion over the past four years, and now generates over half of its revenue from fiber products. The acquisition targets Frontier's 2.2 million fiber subscribers across 25 states, allowing Verizon to significantly expand its base beyond its current 7.4 million Fios connections. Frontier has 7.2 million fiber locations and plans to develop an additional 2.8 million by 2026. Verizon will pay $38.50 per share for Frontier, with the deal expected to close in approximately 18 months, pending shareholder approval. Following the announcement, Frontier's shares fluctuated, initially rising nearly 40% before dropping 9%.
