I think you reach a certain age, where you start to become very reflective on your life – where you've been and where you're headed. For me, this weekend provides the opportunity to take time out of my busy schedule and reinforce what I already know… my Dad is truly a role model and mentor. There are always actions and traits that dads pass down to their sons – how to shave, how to carry oneself, and… how to tie a necktie. But where did that last fashion statement originate. The formality of knotting a piece of material around one's neck in a Windsor, half-Windsor, four-in-hand, Prince Albert, simple, Kelvin, Pratt, Eldredge, Van Wijk, Trinity, Murrell, Balthus and… the classic bow-tie. Phew! That's a knot to try and digest, but, as is the case on every episode of The Missing Chapter, we'll dissect all of the history behind the origins on this Father's Day tribute and, if you're watching us, you'll see us demonstrate our own preference on how to tie our ties. It's a Missing Chapter, Father's Day Special, and it wouldn't be complete without the coffee. Thanks for joining us!Want some Missing Chapter merchandise? Click HERE!

What's really at stake when you ignore your nervous system? In this follow-up episode of Inclusion Catalyst, host Mickey Desai continues his conversation with Dr. Rebecca Eldredge, diving deeper into the real-world consequences of dysregulation—on our relationships, our communication, and our ability to lead meaningful change. From subtle shifts in tone and perception to breakdowns in connection and trust, Dr. Eldredge explains how an unregulated nervous system quietly reshapes the way we experience—and respond to—the world around us. Even our ability to hear, interpret, and engage in conversation can be compromised, making already difficult discussions even harder. The conversation takes a practical turn as they explore how to navigate conflict without avoiding it, including simple but powerful tools for staying grounded in high-stakes moments. Whether it's asking better questions, anchoring to your values, or recognizing the signals your body is sending, the goal is not to eliminate tension—but to move through it constructively. At the core of it all is a powerful reframe: as a changemaker, you are the tool. And without care, sharpening, and restoration, even the most passionate efforts can lose their impact. What happens when the people working hardest to make the world better begin to lose themselves in the process? In this episode of Inclusion Catalyst, host Mickey Desai sits down with licensed psychologist Dr. Rebecca Eldredge—founder of @Feel Deeply, Live Completely—to explore the hidden toll of advocacy, leadership, and social change work. From burnout and compassion fatigue to the subtle erosion of self-awareness, they unpack what it really means to sustain well-being while confronting injustice head-on. Dr. Eldredge reframes well-being not as constant happiness, but as an “inner harmony”—a grounded, resilient state that allows changemakers to stay engaged without collapsing into exhaustion or withdrawal. The conversation moves through the cultural forces that normalize overwork, the internalized pressures that make rest feel selfish, and the very real consequences of ignoring our limits. Along the way, listeners gain practical tools—from recognizing nervous system states to small, in-the-moment regulation techniques—that make sustainable engagement possible. This is not a conversation about stepping away from the work—it's about staying in it, without losing yourself. This episode is produced in partnership with the Georgia Interfaith Public Policy Center. Inclusion Catalyst invites you to become our next guest host. In this episode, author Jan Eldredge talks about her book Nimbus, exploring the inspiration behind the story and the imaginative world she created.
As we begin the Advent season, Dan and Rachael welcome writer and theologian Blaine Eldredge back to the podcast for a sweeping, story-rich journey into history, theology, and the fierce hope of the incarnation. If you love church history or the nuance of theological debate, this episode is a feast. And if you don't consider yourself a scholar, you're still fully invited in, because the questions raised here reach all of us who long for God-with-us in turbulent times. They approach Advent by way of one of the most compelling figures of the early church: Athanasius, the fourth-century bishop whose devotion to the incarnation shaped Christian belief for generations. This episode invites you to consider what it means that God took on flesh amid conflict, upheaval, and hope that refuses to be extinguished. It's a rich, timely conversation for this season of waiting and wonder.

Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man's Soul by John Eldredge is a Christian men's book first published in 2001. It explores masculinity, desire, and the unique role God designed for men to live. Eldredge argues that many men feel trapped, domesticated, or disconnected from their true nature, and he calls them to embrace a more adventurous, authentic, and spiritual life.Core Ideas from Wild at Heart:1. The Masculine Heart Has Three Core Desires• A Battle to Fight – Men are wired to seek purpose, meaning, and something worth fighting for.• An Adventure to Live – Life is meant to be risky, bold, and full of discovery, not safe and tame.• A Beauty to Rescue – Men are drawn to pursue, protect, and cherish beauty, particularly expressed in relationships.2. Wounds Shape Manhood• Every man carries wounds, often from his father or authority figures. These wounds can distort masculinity unless healed by God.3. False Self vs. True Self• Many men live in a “false self” shaped by fear, performance, or passivity. Eldredge challenges men to rediscover their God-given strength and live from their “true self.”4. God as a Wild and Adventurous Father• Eldredge portrays God not as a distant rule-giver but as a passionate Father who invites men into adventure and risk.5. Restoring Masculinity• Through faith, brotherhood, and embracing risk, men can recover the heart God intended for them.

The sale structure of a dental partnership is an important detail that can impact the deal and life as partners. One structure may sound like the best option—be it for simplicity or efficiency—but that doesn't mean it will have the best outcome in the future. Joining this episode to offer their legal and financial expertise is attorney Matt Mitchell from Friday, Eldredge and Clark LLP and Cain Watters & Associates Financial Planner Sarah Oliver. They discuss the tax and legal implications of asset versus stock sales, common misconceptions, repercussions of making adjustments after the fact and the importance of operating agreements.
John Eldredge begins this series "Get Your Life Back!" by reminding us of the importance of benevolent detachment. God did not intend for us to live such exhausting, burdened lives. He calls for us instead to cast our cares upon Him, because it is God who is meant to carry the weight of this world. For practicing benevolent detachment, Eldredge encourages us to incorporate the 1-minute pause into our day-to-day. The 1-minute pause means not getting carried away by thoughts, not even praying, but just letting everything go and allowing our souls to breathe. As Matthew 11 says, in Jesus we will find rest for our souls, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
One of the twentieth century's great paleontologists and science writers, Stephen Jay Gould was, for Bruce S. Lieberman and Niles Eldredge, also a close colleague and friend. In Macroevolutionaries: Reflections on Natural History, Paleontology, and Stephen Jay Gould (Columbia UP, 2024), they take up the tradition of Gould's acclaimed essays on natural history, offering a series of wry and insightful reflections on the fields to which they have devoted their careers. Lieberman and Eldredge explore the major features of evolution, or "macroevolution," examining key issues in paleontology and their links to popular culture, philosophy, music, and the history of science. They focus on topics such as punctuated equilibria, mass extinctions, and the history of life--with detours including trilobites, Hollywood stuntmen, coywolves, birdwatching, and New Haven-style pizza. Lieberman and Eldredge's essays showcase their deep knowledge of the fossil record and keen appreciation of the arts and culture while touching on different aspects of Gould's life and work. Ultimately, they show why Gould's writings and perspective are still relevant today, following his lead in using the natural history essay to articulate their view of evolutionary theory and its place in contemporary life. At once thought-provoking and entertaining, Macroevolutionaries is for all readers interested in paleontology, evolutionary biology, and Gould's literary and scientific legacy. Click here to send me a quick message :) How often do we hear the term “integrative medicine” and what people are really practicing is symptom suppression medicine with more natural, herbal or supplement methods?I think it's very hard to break away from that “treat the symptom” approach when you've been indoctrinated into it, and when so many patients are familiar with it.But occasionally I'll have a client who says they want to get to the root of what's going on, and when faced with some of the lifestyle and dietary changes they may have to make, they'd rather not go there.Which is totally fair. But there's only so much bandaid approaches can do.Like yeah, you can reduce the severity of your menstrual cramps in the moment, but if you don't explore you circulation, the tension you may be holding in your pelvis, some of your ongoing stressors, your sleep, your nutrition, triggers for inflammation etc… well, it's likely just going to keep being there cycle after cycle.Which doesn't mean it has to be hard, sometimes very simple shifts can make a huge difference, but they DO have to be made in order to make the difference.Which is what I love about this conversation with NP and Ayurvedic Practitioner, Amy Eldredge. She shares about how some of the simplest changes can be profoundly impactful and in some cases even clear up a condition entirely. She also talks about the wisdom of samprapti, which is essentially an understanding of HOW disease manifests in the body (or mind) and how identifying it when it's in the earlier stages (before it sets in) is true preventative medicine. She speaks to how the western paradigm doesn't even recognize disease until it's in the fourth stage.Annnnd we speak to her journey from conventional medicine into Ayurveda, her visions of what could be possible if primary care providers worked alongside Ayurvedic practitioners to help reduce the onset of disease in the first place. Her visions (and her on the ground work) is inspiring, and I hope it helps you to feel a little more hope in what sometimes feels like a broken healthcare system.Another world is possible. We just have to create it.Listen to learn:where Ayurveda and western medicine overlap and where they differHow Amy went from 7 years as a Primary Care Provider seeing 700+ patients to her private Ayurvedic practiceWhat her insider vision is on how true integrative care could lookAbout the phases of disease from the Ayurvedic lens (they're subtler than you might think)How simple healing can beResources:Episode 3: Ayurveda and your hormonal healthEpisode 97: Nourish Your Nervous System with Ayurvedic WisdomEpisode 147: Agni? In this next segment from his series on resilience, John Eldredge demonstrates the practice of spending time with Christ within us as the ultimate source of resilience. Most of the time, we operate in what Eldredge terms the shallows and the midlands of our being - the distractions and concerns of this world which leave us feeling exhausted or directionless. By practicing benevolent detachment and surrendering the noise of the shallows and midlands to God, we make room to access the depths of our being and address what our soul truly needs. It's in our innermost depths where Jesus invites us to draw closer to Him and commune with Him, not just for survival when we feel most weary, but for every moment of our lives.
Guess what, folks? Christmas Clatter is returning for another round of holiday cheer! Todd's got some exciting stuff lined up for this season. He'll be spilling the tea on why the show's run is a bit shorter this year, and he's also going to share his thoughts on a new Christmas song by Brett Eldredge. Todd thinks it's an instant classic, so you know it's going to be good!Brett Eldredge, known for his smooth, rich voice, has become a holiday favorite with his Christmas music. He first introduced fans to his festive sound in 2016 with the release of *Glow*, an album blending timeless Christmas standards and original songs with a big band, jazz-inspired flair. Tracks like "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" and "Baby, It's Cold Outside" (featuring Meghan Trainor) showcased his crooner style, evoking the charm of Frank Sinatra.*Glow*'s success led to a deluxe edition in 2018, with additional tracks, and Eldredge has since headlined the *Glow* tour, bringing the spirit of his holiday music to live audiences. His Christmas sound is known for its nostalgic warmth, highlighted by brass, strings, and that classic swing rhythm, making it stand out among traditional country holiday offerings. In 2021, Eldredge followed up with *Mr. Christmas*, blending original songs, like the title track, with beloved holiday classics. Both albums were met with praise from fans who admire his ability to capture the magic of the season through big-band arrangements and jazz-infused melodies. Now, Eldredge is back with his third holiday album, *Merry Christmas (Welcome to the Family)*. This new collection, released under his own label, Warm and Cozy Records, features eight original songs, including “Sweet December,” which Todd of Christmas Clatter has declared an instant classic.Brett Eldredge - Sweet December (feat. This Sunday's remote service continues the series on resilience by renowned Christian author and counselor John Eldredge. In this session, Eldredge defines resilience as the dividing line between those who overcome the challenges of a Christian life and those who do not. He describes the times we live in as dangerous, making it easy to feel discouraged. However, to build resilience, Jesus offers himself as a resource to dwell within us, give us a new heart, and remind us of God's glory and splendor.
