This is a talk at Mantra Night about how Transcendental Sound provides refuge and shelter from all the turmoil and troubles that are part of material life. But more wonderful than this is how it can awaken us to the most extraordinary experience of spiritual love where the soul once again is united in love with the Supreme Soul.
This episode of Living Myth begins with the idea that the old terminology of 100-year storms and 1000-year storms makes little sense, since events of that magnitude now happen so often. It becomes difficult to deny that we now live in a world that is more unpredictable, more chaotic, and sadly, more dangerous. As the storms occurring in nature grow greater and move faster, a parallel intensification of cultural conflicts and political storms have also been growing greater and changing with remarkable speed. By now, the two areas of increasing turbulence can be seen to overlap in ways that add more chaos and more unnecessary suffering to those who are caught in the path of the storms. At the same time that many communities struggle with life-altering losses and remain without water and basic services, the so called “online community” has become inundated with a storm of its own making. The disinformation, lies and conspiracy theories that have become a maelstrom in the political realm, have now been injected into recovery efforts after the recent hurricane in ways that actually endanger rescue missions and make it more difficult for people to get the necessities they need to survive. The aftermath of natural disasters can now include unnecessary and unnatural emotional torment for those already suffering losses of life and livelihood. As the world increasingly becomes a place of chaos and conflict, we all suffer greater levels of disorientation and overwhelm, even if we are not directly in the wake of the latest natural disaster or shocking missile attack or polarizing statements by those claiming to be leaders. We are all living through a collective loss of soul, for the soul is the missing thing, the unifying element between opposing forces. The soul is the connective tissue of the world, and without it, the darkness around us can just grow deeper and deeper. Yet, no matter how alienating the outer world can become, the deeper layers of the self and soul remain places of healing and self-forgiveness, that in turn connects us to the unifying source of life that keeps trying to awaken within us and knows how we can each contribute to the healing of a broken world and to the process of renewal that can follow all the chaos. A Bigger Life Prayer and Bible Devotionals with Pastor Dave Cover
This is Christian Meditation for A Bigger Life – a time for you to relax your body, refocus your mind, and re-narrate your life. I'm Dave Cover. I want to help you with Christian meditation where you can break through all the distractions and experience God's presence through biblically guided imagination. Our summer schedule has begun. Look for new once-per-week episodes each Tuesday during the summer. If your podcast app is set to skip the silent sections, disable that in your podcast app for this podcast. Psalm 142:5 NIV I cry to you, LORD; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” Psalm 142:5 CSB I cry to you, LORD; I say, “You are my shelter, my portion in the land of the living.” Luke 21:16-18 NIV 16 You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17 Everyone will hate you because of me. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. “LORD” in all uppercase letters in our English Bibles indicates that in Hebrew God's name, Yahweh, is used (for example, Exodus 3:14-15; Isaiah 42:8). Yahweh is the ancient Hebrew verb form for “HE IS.” God's name, Yahweh, is used more than any other term for God in the Hebrew scriptures. More than “God” is used. When we survey the various truths associated with God's name, HE IS, in the Hebrew scriptures (what we call the Old Testament), four important aspects of God are emphasized. HE IS the Creator and Sustainer of ALL that exists, including this entire universe (Ps 33:6; Isa 40:26; Isa 42:5; Isa 44:24). HE IS the Giver and Sustainer of ALL life everywhere always (Num 27:16; Job 12:10; Acts 17:25). HE IS eternal and forever God (Isa 40:28; Isa 57:15) HE IS ALWAYS infinitely 100% present with you and in control of everything in your life at every moment (Ps 31:14-15; without being any less present or focused anywhere else in the universe, because HE IS infinite). See Jesus's words in Matthew 10:29-31. We often meditate on God‘s name in this podcast because it is the key to experiencing God as HE IS. God's name is filled with wonder and mystery and transcendence for us to meditate on using our biblically guided imagination. So imagine – envision – this reality. He is the Source of all being; he is the Giver of your life and sustains your life at every moment; he is the one who “inhabits eternity” (Isaiah 57:15), and so has the eternal perspective in all your life's circumstances; and he is infinitely, intimately, 100% present with you at every moment and in control of every circumstance in your life. “I was in a concrete bunker when the world outside exploded in a huge nuclear holocaust. I was watching my relatives and friends melting into the ground around me, and I was completely helpless” Reflecting on a dream Ruben just had, we dive into the topic of how to actually help others—and how to deal with feelings of insecurity in relation to this world. Many spiritual seekers think that non-attachment is the goal, while Balakhilya explains that it's quite the opposite. Yes, material attachments to friends, family and spouse have the power to break our hearts completely. But simultaneously, to actually heal and calm our hearts, we need to cultivate a perfect spiritual consciousness. Because ultimately, the only stability in this unstable world is our loving attachment to the Supreme Power. Highlights: (6:33) The material world is unstable and unpredictable. Life can change suddenly, like we saw in the war between Russia and Ukraine. We must accept this reality and find true stability. (12:17) We have faith in the effectiveness of vitamin C despite lack of tangible proof, and similarly we should have faith in the spiritual process despite that we don't have direct experience of it's effectivenes (19:53) The soul has inherent qualities; like water inherently is wet. One such quality is that we get attached very easily. (26:39) We discuss the concept of attachment, and how we need to cultivate attachment to the permanent which is beyond the material dimension (41:51) The spiritual world is perfect and filled with perfect love, free from pain and imperfections. We can enter there now, and inspire others to do the same. (54:43) Balakhilya's friend left the Bhakti Yoga process for several years to enjoy a sense-gratifying lifestyle, but was suddenly diagnosed with ALS and came back to his spiritual practices. He said the disease was the perfect disease for him—it stopped him in his tracks and made him become serious about life. (1:10:00) Martin Luther King emphasized the power of light to overcome darkness. Recorded on January 11, 2023. You can also follow Astrology by Celeste on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Yelp. ***** Astrology highlights for the week of May 15th: 00:47 – The theme of this week is, “Finding shelter through the storm.” It's an intense week! How can you stay grounded rather than going to extremes? Note that it's a great time for detoxification and cleansing! 01:32 – There are three big things happening this week: First, the emotional Lunar Eclipse at 25 degrees Scorpio (May 15 at 9:13pm PT) calls us to shed light on darkness and burn off what has been outgrown. The Sun is highlighting fixed star Algol, and Celeste breaks down some of the recent news that may relate to this aspect. 08:50 – The second aspect related this eclipse is that Saturn (structures, limits, hardship, toil, consequences, authority, rewards for hard work) is squaring the Sun and Moon, forming a T-square. We've been at this crossroads for some weeks now. 10:33 – Thirdly, the Sun is parallel the fixed star Arcturus. How can you pivot rather than break down? Also, Mars conjuncts Neptune: Check on people who are struggling during this time. And consider: How can you be the observer of your emotions? 12:03 – Celeste offers an overview of the lunar gestation cycle. Fascinating! Each lunation is connected – every nine months – to one of these cycles. This eclipse/Full Moon brings us back to November 2020. 14:01 – On Sunday, the word of the day is “reflection.” Today is the eclipse, and the week starts with the Moon in Scorpio. Ceres (asteroid/dwarf planet that rules nurturing, nourishment and parenting) moves into the sign of Cancer until July 23. What are you growing? Ceres is semisquare Uranus, so you may feel inspired. Also, Venus joins Chiron in Aries. How can you heal old wounds? Also, the Sun squares Saturn, possibly bringing conflict with authority and feelings of restriction. Finally, the Sun sextiles Neptune: An opportunity for compassion, faith, and trust. 17:24 – On Monday, the theme is “recover.” The Moon enters Sag at 4:50am PT, a fire sign, bringing optimism. Takes things slow, as the eclipse just happened yesterday. Take things slow, move your body as you are able, walk in nature, and watch your words. 18:20 – On Tuesday, the word is “dance!” Allow your feelings to come through your body. Two transits: Mercury retrograde (Rx) in Gemini is semisquare Venus in Aries, bringing stress, so watch how you speak to those you love, and avoid bringing up old hurts unless you plan on healing them; and Mars joins Neptune, so act with intention and be compassionate. 19:34 – On Wednesday, the focus is “refine.” The Moon moves into Cap at 5:01am PT. Focus on work and growth; Capricorn says, “Pursue excellence!” Jupiter in Aries squares Ceres in Cancer and makes everything bigger: Be optimistic about what you are growing in your life. 20:24 – Thursday's word is “primal.” The Sun trines Pluto, perhaps bringing feelings of empowerment. Mercury Rx in Gemini sextiles Jupiter in Aries: Inspiration may come from the past. The Sun is parallel Phaeton, and Celeste shares the story of Phaeton. (The story is a warning about how overconfidence can lead to missteps!) 22:26 – On Friday, the word of the day is “levity.” The Moon enters Aquarius at 5:52am PT. The Sun enters Gemini today, and see if you notice a shift. Gemini may bring a desire to communicate and connect in a light-hearted fashion. 23:17 – On Saturday, the theme is “serendipity.” The Sun is conjunct Mercury Rx, also called “Cazimi.” Stay present for unique insights: The way forward may come through the past. Be thoughtful not thoughtless! 24:16 – Thanks for listening to Celestial Insights! Paul made it clear to the church to anticipate the return of Christ at any moment! He told us that as we got near the end, the days would get darker and more evil. He also encouraged us that we could always find shelter in Christ; especially in these last days!!! In tonight's study, we'll talk about that and much more!!!

Tune in to our interview with Grace Kelly Herbert of Finding Shelter Animal Rescue and mother of Victoria, the inspiration behind Pennsylvania's Victoria's Law! Victoria was rescued by Finding Shelter in 2017 from a Lancaster County, PA puppy mill. She was 10 years old, born at the farm, and lived there for 10 years as a breeding dog. Right after her rescue, she received the terminal diagnosis of Degenerative Myelopathy and was placed on hospice care for the remainder of her life which was expected to be six months to a year. Victoria exceeded all expectations and lived for 16 months as a part of a family in a loving home, the first time she had been in a house for her entire life. Victoria passed away on February 26, 2019 in the arms of her mom and dad who loved her dearly.Victoria was a brave, wonderful, beautiful and forgiving dog and her legacy will live on through Victoria's Law, the Pet Retail Sales Bill named in her memory. Victoria's Law would require that pet stores in Pennsylvania discontinue the sale of commercially bred dogs, cats and rabbits and require online transparency for puppy sales. Pennsylvania residents, please contact your state senators and representatives to ask them to support SB 44 Victoria's Law so she can leave her mark on this world after saying farewell to the happy life she finally found after so many long and difficult years.Support the show (https://bailingoutbenji.com/support-us/)

Imagine being above the tree line on a mountain, when a thunderstorm rolls in. You don't have time to get down the mountain. What would you do? Since you don't have shelter, you'd get down, put your hands over your head and hope and pray that you don't get hit by lightning or flying debris. Many times, that's how we feel in the storms of life. We're exposed and endangered. And we're hoping and praying we survive. Do we have any shelter in the storms of life? Sunday, in Genesis 32 and 33, we looked at Jacob who was heading home to a brother who wanted to kill him. Twenty years earlier, Jacob had swindled this brother out of a treasured experience. But God proved to be the shelter that Jacob was missing. What storms loom in your life? More importantly, where will you find shelter? Would you read Genesis 32-33 with this simple prayer: God, I am asking that You be my shelter in this storm

Using incredible imagery from a recent movie, Frank reveals the breathtaking words of our Father who tells us “I will be your host, I will protect you, and am so much for you that I will lay down my life for you.” We will dwell in Him, and He will be our home.
A conversation with novelist Barbara Kingsolver about her new novel, "Unsheltered," recorded live at an event hosted by Politics and Prose bookstore.
Germany has gained itself the role as Europe’s great provider of sanctuary for some of the millions of refugees that have fled from the most troubled parts of the world. But Chancellor Angela Merkel has come under fierce criticism over the million plus people who’ve sought asylum over the past two years, leading to her having to fight over the past days to retain her seemingly invincible power. Churches, both Protestant and Catholic are defying the state and public opinion by opening their doors to offer refuge to migrants even though the state wants to send them home. Dale Gavlak meets Christians who tell her they don’t ask if someone believes in the Christian God, to them they are all children of one God. But not all people of faith feel that churches should offer migrants a roof despite their often horrific stories. Taking a Christian stance on people in need, seems to be clashing with a fractious political mood in Germany.

Defender Radio: The Podcast for Wildlife Advocates and Animal Lovers
The Rowels family was trying to find a home. But when they arrived in a tiny town in southern Bulgaria, they found their calling: finding homes for street dogs. The heartwarming story began with Diane and Tony Rowels looking for a change in their family’s life. The couple moved themselves and their children to Rudozem, Bulgaria, where they hoped to perhaps open a café. Instead, they became protectors of street dogs, opened a shelter, and help rehome hundreds of dogs across Europe. Their story, with its ups and downs, loss and beauty, is told in a documentary directed by a long-time supporter of The Fur-Bearers, Erin Parks. Finding Shelter, the story of the Rudozem Street Dog Rescue, is available now on the iTunes store, with proceeds going to help the dogs. To share with us insight into the Rowels’ family story, the impact they’re making for the dogs, and how wanting to tell the stories of various animal rescues around the world led to focusing on this very special family, Erin Parks joined Defender Radio.
