In today's episode of She Lives Freed, I have the honor of chatting with Lisa Bevere for a conversation that is both deeply convicting and incredibly freeing. We're talking about a pattern that so many women fall into, but rarely recognize: nagging, control, and the urge to constantly correct our husbands.Culture normalizes it, social media jokes about it, but Scripture has something very different to say. This episode isn't about shame: it's about refinement. If you've ever felt frustrated in your marriage, caught yourself repeating the same things over and over, or if you've struggled to trust God with your husband's growth… this conversation will challenge you to step out of control and into surrender and respect. Your words have the power to either build your marriage or slowly tear it down. And God is calling us higher in this hour as wives and women of God. What You'll Learn in This Episode: The biblical truth about nagging and why it's more serious than we think How constant correction can tear down your husband's identity The difference between healthy communication vs. control Why nagging often reveals a deeper trust issue with God How to communicate needs without dishonor Practical ways to replace frustration with life-giving words The role of prayer in transforming your marriage How to become a woman who builds her home with wisdom Learn more from Lisa Bevere and her ministry, books, and teachings that equip women to walk boldly in truth. Habakkuk ministered in a tense moment in Israel's history—when Babylon was rising and judgment was approaching—yet the heart of his book is deeply personal: moving from impatience and confusion to steadfast trust in God's timing. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef walks through Habakkuk's prayer in chapter 3 and points to three features that can reshape your own prayer life when answers feel delayed: Humility before God: Habakkuk begins by questioning God's silence (Habakkuk 1:2), but ends with reverent awe—learning to submit his perspective to God's sovereignty. Adoration of God: Instead of using prayer only to get solutions, Habakkuk models prayer as worship—asking to know God more and responding in obedience. Focus on God's work: Habakkuk pleads for mercy and awakening—not because the people deserve it, but because he longs for God's Name to be glorified. Where many sink into anger, depression, or prayerlessness when heaven feels quiet, Habakkuk turns delay into discipleship—asking, in effect, “Lord, what are You teaching me? How can I trust You more?” This devotional will help you pray through waiting seasons with faith, perspective, and joy that isn't dependent on circumstances. Prayer: Father, may I set my heart on You, the God of grace, wisdom, and sovereign power. I believe Your promises and will wait on You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Scripture Focus: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior” (Habakkuk 3:17-18). *This devotional adapted from Life-Changing Prayers by Michael Youssef © 2018. There are moments when your mind feels full, your heart feels heavy, and peace feels just out of reach. In those moments, it's easy to run to people, opinions, or quick solutions—hoping something will calm the noise inside. But what if the peace you're searching for isn't found there? In this midweek reminder, we pause and return to the true source of peace—God. We explore what it means to seek Him first, why not every form of “peace” is from Him, and how to discern between true peace and counterfeit calm.If you've been feeling overwhelmed, unsettled, or mentally drained, this episode is your invitation to slow down, realign, and receive the peace that only God can give.Happy New Month! May if be full of the perfect peace of God all through! Amen
Anxiety and fear can feel overwhelming — and for many Christians, they can even feel like a failure of faith. In this episode, we talk about how to rest in God instead of anxiety, take fear's authority away from our thoughts and decisions (through Scripture), and trust God with our future. I'm joined by Maddie Joy Fischer, Live Original Ambassador, author, and Christian influencer and content creator, for an honest conversation about what it looks like to rely on God when fear is loud. We explore how freedom from fear doesn't mean you'll never feel anxious again — but it does mean fear no longer gets to control your life. In this episode, we talk about: Why fear doesn't need to have authority over you How Scripture helps us take anxious thoughts captive instead of letting them control us What inspired Maddie to share openly about anxiety and learning to rest in God Why fear often holds us back from the life God is calling us to What to do when things do go wrong — and how to trust God anyway Encouragement for Christians who feel guilty for struggling with anxiety How to move toward peace, joy, and the abundant life God desires for you How to trust God when things don't go according to plan If you struggle with anxiety, overthinking, or fear of the unknown, this episode will remind you that God is patient, present, and trustworthy — even here. A resident, 2 doctors, a physician assistant and student minister share ways they live out the gospel through healthcare among those experiencing poverty. If Jesus came to earth today as a healthcare provider, how would he care for patients, staff and the community? Though the world defines success by our bank account and possessions, living for Jesus looks different and requires sacrifice that westerns find difficult to pursue. I used to believe I had to wait - for the right time, the perfect moment, or until I felt more qualified. But here's what God has been showing me: sometimes the invitation is already on the table… we just haven't picked it up yet.In this episode, I share a simple moment at a local café that turned into a powerful reminder - we often count ourselves out of spaces that God is already calling us into.In this episode on how to trust God instead of your insecurities, we will be diving into:✦ How fear, scarcity, or doubt may be quietly holding you back ✦ Biblical encouragement from Moses, Sarah, and more✦ What it looks like to operate from trust instead of hesitation ✦ How to shift from “saving” to savoring your lifeYou don't need to be famous, fearless, or have it figured out to walk boldly in your calling. You just need to say yes.
It's time we become more aware of the priesthood that God set up - not man- which is maintained and operated by Jesus, our Great High Priest, who is in intercession for us but is also seated, meaning He has completed and accomplished everything it takes to purify our conscience and bring us back to our Father. He is in full time ministry, applying His own blood to the Mercy Seat in Heaven and also to your heart. This changes how we interact with God: Instead of cowering in fear of punishment or working hard to maintain our own righteousness, we approach the Living God with the confidence that Jesus has truly saved us to the uttermost because He constantly lives to make intercession for us. (This podcast was previously recorded and published on April 7, 2020) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... Things can change very rapidly in this present world. In the Bible, the apostle Paul warns us to put our trust in God rather than in "uncertain riches." (I Timothy 6) Can you trust in the unseen, instead of in the seen? In the end, everything we can see with our natural eyes will be destroyed. If we trust in any human or in a government of men, we put ourselves in great risk. Some are trusting in their church group and think they are trusting in God. Usually those who are trusting in their church group tell other people about that church group. When we speak with other people are we telling them about the living God and what God has done? Or are we speaking about a minister or a church group? There is still time to make an adjustment, at least I think so, although unexpected things are happening rather rapidly. == I Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Philippians 2:3-8 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 2 Peter 3:10-14 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. John 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship HIM. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship HIM must worship HIM in spirit and in truth. Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Proverbs 16:25 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. James 3:16-17 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
LESSON 190I Choose The Joy Of God Instead Of Pain.Pain is a wrong perspective. When it is experienced in any form, it is a proof of self-deception. It is not a fact at all. There is no form it takes that will not disappear if seen aright. For pain proclaims God cruel. How could it be real in any form? It witnesses to God the Father's hatred of His Son, the sinfulness He sees in him, and His insane desire for revenge and death. Can such projections be attested to? Can they be anything but wholly false? Pain is but witness to the Son's mistakes in what he thinks he is. It is a dream of fierce retaliation for a crime that could not be committed; for attack on what is wholly unassailable. It is a nightmare of abandonment by an Eternal Love, Which could not leave the Son whom It created out of love.Pain is a sign illusions reign in place of truth. It demonstrates God is denied, confused with fear, perceived as mad, and seen as traitor to Himself. If God is real, there is no pain. If pain is real, there is no God. For vengeance is not part of love. And fear, denying love and using pain to prove that God is dead, has shown that death is victor over life. The body is the Son of God, corruptible in death, as mortal as the Father he has slain.Peace to such foolishness! The time has come to laugh at such insane ideas. There is no need to think of them as savage crimes, or secret sins with weighty consequence. Who but a madman could conceive of them as cause of anything? Their witness, pain, is mad as they, and no more to be feared than the insane illusions which it shields, and tries to demonstrate must still be true.It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. Nothing external to your mind can hurt or injure you in any way. There is no cause beyond yourself that can reach down and bring oppression. No one but yourself affects you. There is nothing in the world that has the power to make you ill or sad, or weak or frail. But it is you who have the power to dominate all things you see by merely recognizing what you are. As you perceive the harmlessness in them, they will accept your holy will as theirs. And what was seen as fearful now becomes a source of innocence and holiness. My holy brother, think of this awhile: The world you see does nothing. It has no effects at all. It merely represents your thoughts. And it will change entirely as you elect to change your mind, and choose the joy of God as what you really want. Your Self is radiant in this holy joy, unchanged, unchanging and unchangeable, forever and forever. And would you deny a little corner of your mind its own inheritance, and keep it as a hospital for pain; a sickly place where living things must come at last to die?The world may seem to cause you pain. And yet the world, as causeless, has no power to cause. As an effect, it cannot make effects. As an illusion, it is what you wish. Your idle wishes represent its pains. Your strange desires bring it evil dreams. Your thoughts of death envelop it in fear, while in your kind forgiveness does it live.Pain is the thought of evil taking form, and working havoc in your holy mind. Pain is the ransom you have gladly paid not to be free. In pain is God denied the Son He loves. In pain does fear appear to triumph over love, and time replace eternity and Heaven. And the world becomes a cruel and a bitter place, where sorrow rules and little joys give way before the onslaught of the savage pain that waits to end all joy in misery.Lay down your arms, and come without defense into the quiet place where Heaven's peace holds all things still at last. Lay down all thoughts of danger and of fear. Let no attack enter with you. Lay down the cruel sword of judgment that you hold against your throat, and put aside the withering assaults with which you seek to hide your holiness. Here will you understand there is no pain. Here does the joy of God belong to you. This is the day when it is given you to realize the lesson that contains all of salvation's power. It is this: Pain is illusion; joy, reality. Pain is but sleep; joy is awakening. Pain is deception; joy alone is truth. And so again we make the only choice that ever can be made; we choose between illusions and the truth, or pain and joy, or hell and Heaven. Let our gratitude unto our Teacher fill our hearts, as we are free to choose our joy instead of pain, our holiness in place of sin, the peace of God instead of conflict, and the light of Heaven for the darkness of the world.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

Romans 1:29-32, 6:23, 8:6-9, 13 // Ephesians 2:4-5 “The Lord Christ comes to convinced sinners with His invitation: “Poor creatures! How sad is your condition! What has become of the beauty and glory of the image of God in which you were created? You are now in the deformed image of Satan and even worse, eternal misery lies before you. Yet look up once more; behold Me! I will put Myself in your place. I will bear that burden of guilt and punishment which would sink you to hell for ever. I will be made temporarily a curse for you, that you may have eternal blessedness.” — John Owen The gospel radically CHANGES ALL who receive it into people who FREELY OVERFLOW with GENEROSITY to others, especially FELLOW MEMBERS of God's redeemed FAMILY. 2 Corinthians 8:9, 9:6-8 SOMETIMES, God allows His coming WRATH on UNREPENTANT SINNERS to be poured out SOONER than expected as a fearful REMINDER to others that FAITH really is a matter of LIFE and DEATH. Hey Mama, Nothing exposes your human weakness quite like motherhood. As a mom of two, I rarely ever feel like I get things right. Then, just add on the expectations I set for myself, which are rarely ever met, and almost never done within the timeframe I have set. And my default for dealing with all this? Distraction. Do you numb your anxiety too? If so, then listen up mama. Today I am going to share with you 3 reasons why you should run to God instead of numbing your anxiety. The episode is an interactive discussion (even my bird and kids had alot to say) from 2016 about Rashi and Ramban on Vayikra 26:11 (Bechukosai). It covered a few topics: (1) Among the list of berachos that we'll get for keeping the mitzvos, the Torah says that Hashem won't be disgusted with us; (2) the Ramban discusses how hashgachas Hashem is at times manifest through statistical unlikelihood; (3) The Ramban says that when the Jews are fully keeping the Torah, we need not seek out doctors and medical advice but can instead rely totally on Hashem.

It feels like we're constantly being bombarded left, right and center by messages telling us we should be able to heal our bodies and help ourselves through positive thinking, manifesting and that the power is all from within. While I definitely feel we need to be active participants in our own wellness journeys, I also think that believing we can or should be able to do it all on our own is dangerous and will most likely lead to more shame and confusion. Listen in as I share insight from Isaiah 1:5+6, as well as my own journey with learning to entrust YOU (the listener :D) to God with your own healing journey. 2,000 years ago Paul instructed his protégé Timothy to “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God. (1 Timothy 6:17 NIV) Today Gene challenges us with the question: where is your hope?
Plugged In's Adam Holz talks about the new movie "After Death" that explores real-life stories of those who died, were revived, and who had stories of encounters with God, heaven, or hell. Writer Tara Isabella Burton, author of "Self Made," talks about our quest in forge a curated identity, as opposed to finding our identity in God and the truths of Scripture. https://acim.org/acim/lesson-190/i-choose-the-joy-of-god-instead-of-pain/en/s/598
I choose the joy of God instead of pain. Pain is a wrong perspective. It is a nightmare of abandonment by an Eternal Love, Which could not leave the Son whom It created out of love. Pain is a sign illusions reign in place of truth. The body is the Son of God, corruptible in death, as mortal as the Father he has slain. Peace to such foolishness! The time has come to laugh at such insane ideas. There is no need to think of them as savage crimes, or secret sins with weighty consequence. Who but a madman could conceive of them as cause of anything? Their witness, pain, is mad as they, and no more to be feared than the insane illusions which it shields, and tries to demonstrate must still be true. It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. And would you deny a little corner of your mind its own inheritance, and keep it as a hospital for pain; a sickly place where living things must come at last to die? The world may seem to cause you pain. And yet the world, as causeless, has no power to cause. As an effect, it cannot make effects. As an illusion, it is what you wish. Your idle wishes represent its pains. Your strange desires bring it evil dreams. Your thoughts of death envelop it in fear, while in your kind forgiveness does it live. Pain is the thought of evil taking form, and working havoc in your holy mind. Pain is the ransom you have gladly paid not to be free. In pain is God denied the Son He loves. In pain does fear appear to triumph over love, and time replace eternity and Heaven. And the world becomes a cruel and a bitter place, where sorrow rules and little joys give way before the onslaught of the savage pain that waits to end all joy in misery. Lay down your arms, and come without defense into the quiet place where Heaven's peace holds all things still at last. Let our gratitude unto our Teacher fill our hearts, as we are free to choose our joy instead of pain, our holiness in place of sin, the peace of God instead of conflict, and the light of Heaven for the darkness of the world. - Jesus Christ in A Course in Miracles, Lesson 190

How do we teach our children to find their worth in who God says they are, rather than in what they can do? That's the question we're asking on today's episode of the podcast. It's way too easy for our children, for us, to feel that our worth comes from what we can do, and not from who we are in Christ. For our children, it can be about sports, friendships, academic success, popularity, clothing, hair...really anything. When I was growing up, and really well into my adulthood, I found most of my self-worth in making good grades, and appearing smart to those around me. I believed that if I worked hard enough, I could accomplish anything I set my mind to...and isn't that just exactly what the world tells our children? As believers, as parents who are trying to raise our children to know and love Jesus, we want our children's identities to be shaped by what God says about them, and nothing else. In fact, we want what God says about them, and about Himself, to help them stand strong when the events of their lives try to convince them of something else. But how do we do that? Join me today as we look at what God's Word has to say about who our children are, what makes them unique, their beliefs, and how the world is shaping them in ways that might not be healthy. Today's show is brought to you by our newest Prayer Guide, Praying God's Word for Your Child's Identity in Christ, by Tara L. Cole. This resource is designed to help you know exactly what to pray for your children, empowering and equipping you in an area where most Christian parents feel a bit lost. If you want to pray purposefully for God to grow your child's identity in Him, this resource is for you. Click here to learn more. Have you ever wondered how someone could trust God in seemingly impossible situations, remain joyful in adversity, or hope when life seems hopeless? As believers in Jesus Christ, we can have “quinta essentia,” training our minds to rest in God instead of relying on the world’s empty promises. What does that look like in everyday life? On Tuesday's Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, licensed professional counselor, Marti Wibbels joins to talk about facing real-life challenges by spending time in the Word every day, living in the moment, and fixing our eyes on Jesus, running the race He sets before us. Hey! Do you struggle with guilt or shame or both? If so, this episode is for you. I have a great guest today to really walk us through the difference between guilt and shame. As Christian women we sometimes suffer from guilt and shame more than others because we feel more conviction when we do things that are not of God. While conviction in a good thing to help us correct our behaviors, God doesn't want us to constantly live under the weight of our sin. Jessica tells us about her experiences in relationships when trying to conform to the image that would make guys love her. Then, she accepted Jesus and slowly took the journey of seeking God and renewing her mind. A little about Jessica: Jessica Hottle is a faith-based fitness coach, podcast host, best-selling author, and speaker with a heart for teaching Christian women how to honor their feelings and heal from their hurt from a Biblical perspective. Jessica is the host of From Head to Heart, a show where she teaches women how to trust God, heal emotionally, and Grow their relationship with Him. When she isn't writing, speaking, or coaching you can find her enjoying time with her husband Jon, loving on their three cats, and spending her free time outside whenever she can (playing golf, hiking, reading, or writing in her journal).
