This episode of BEHIND THE LENS is all about FUN with a capital "F" thanks to a favorite returning filmmaker, JONATHAN SMITH, and his latest film GUY FRIENDS, and the brilliance of director PABLO BERGER with the oh-so-wonderful ROBOT DREAMS. First up, take a listen to my exclusive interview with writer/director PABLO BERGER as we discuss his exquisitely magical animated film ROBOT DREAMS. I have long loved Pablo's work going back to his brilliant "Blancanieves" in 2012, and as much as I love his work there, I am in love with ROBOT DREAMS. This is a fun and insightful interview that I know you'll enjoy as Pablo discusses adapting Sara Varon's picture book of the same name, creating an animated film when he is not an animator and "does not draw", making New York a character, score and needledrops, pop culture influences, and more. And then the wonderful writer/director/DP/editor JONATHAN SMITH returns with a new film – GUY FRIENDS. As if "Batsh*t Bride" wasn't funny enough, wait until you see this follow-up film, GUY FRIENDS. Jonathan is so much fun and I'm so happy to have him back on #BTLRadioShow with his latest project! Shot in block and white, Jonathan makes some interesting choices for the telling of GUY FRIENDS. Going in-depth into the production itself, Jonathan tells all, including but not limited to, his production choices for B&W, editing, etc., wearing multiple hats, the genesis of this story and the inherent comedy that is found within that story, casting (which includes a lead actress who has never acted at all before this film), performances, score, and more. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

Alex is announced as our newest regular YOB contributor, and we get right into analyzing his blogs! We start with discussing a reflection of last fall's YOBBERS retreat written by his mom and how this unique blog even came to be on our site. We also go behind the scenes and into greater depth with his recently posted blog about holding hands with his straight guy friends: one story in which a friend reached across a restaurant table to hold his hand, and another in which Alex extended his own hand toward a friend while walking with him in the park. How did fears of PDA impact both of these hand-holdings, and what other fears or insecurities did Alex wrestle with – both in the receiving and expressing of such open same-sex physical touch? Subscribe to the Pod! https://anchor.fm/affirmationsforblackgirls/subscribe Today we have a special guest on the pod! One of Tyra's first friends in LA has stopped in for a little chat on the pod! We are having an open and candid conversation about Trust in Friendship. This week's Affirmation is “I deserve to have amazing people as my friends.” Questions to Ask Yourself about your friend circle: Who is your best friend? Why is this person your best friend? Has a friend ever done something to make you question them or their character? Did you confront them about it or turn a blind eye? Do you find yourself judging your friends secretly, if so why? Do you think they are judging you? And if so, why? Do you think this is a good trait to have or something that you need to work on? Have you ever lied to a friend, if so why? Was it for their benefit or detriment? Did you tell them eventually about it if you did? Or if you didn't, why didn't you tell them? Do you have more guy friends or girl friends? Welcome to the season finale! This episode has been a long time coming and we are sure excited about it. Before we go on break for the holidays we wanted to get a panel together to discuss the common saying “Guys and girls can't just be friends” and see if there was any truth to it. So OBVIOUSLY Alessandra had to invite all of her guy friends onto the show to get to the bottom of it :) The episode has a grand total of 4 guests, lots of opinions, and many laughs. Additionally, we found case study research to add a little scientific flavor to the conversation. Join Maggie and Alessandra for our season finale as they interview Dominic, Nick, Evan, and Mathias about their experiences with friendships, having healthy relationships with the opposite gender, and answering the question “Can guys and girls be just friends?”We'll be back after the Holidays for our next season! Until then! (Keep up to date on new episodes and bonus content by following by following our socials)
This week, Rose and Isa are joined by guests and friends, Michael & Justin, to address all of those pressing questions you've always wanted answered…
Welcome to the Authentic Dad Podcast! I'm David Waranch and I coach and support fathers on having a greater impact in the world, living on their own terms, and flourishing in their relationships. (Where we think it matters most). Today, I'm joined by Simon Ravona. Simon is a Whole Person Certified Coach (WPCC), as well as a trained lawyer, negotiator, mediator and HR consultant. Since completing his own amicable divorce in 2017, Simon has immersed himself in every possible self-help resource including books, articles, podcasts and studies. In 2018, he started Catalytic Coaching Co. to help others, especially men, find wisdom, direction, and improvement, by looking into themselves, committing to mind-shifts and executing tiny habit changes. His self-help journey is informed by evidence that people—more often men—do divorce alone, without a guide, support, hoping lawyers and therapists will help them move on. However, Simon discovered that other community, and especially other men, are essential to overcoming major life obstacles. In 2017, Simon started a Meet-ups group, that went from zero to 120 members in one month. Simon found that people experience divorce almost alone; but wish to find support, wisdom and a path forward by connecting with others who have thrived despite divorce. This helped Simon realize that one of Simon's life purposes is to help people discover their own meaning, life purpose and achievement through internal integration, authenticity practice, self-love, learning and training. To reach him, please email him at simon@catalyticcoaching.co. If you're a dad (or other person) who needs support in your relationships and are looking to make a greater impact in the world, I would love to hear from you. My theme music is by Isaac Lourie. In this week's episode, we had our guy friends come on the pod to answer questions girls are to afraid to ask boys. This is one of our favorite episodes so far and we had the best time recording it with them. They were all extremely honest and gave us different points of view of both guys who are in relationships/talking to someone and who are single. We hope you laugh as much as we did recording this. Hope you enjoy!
