Ben is the former Chief White House Correspondent for the AP during the Bush and Obama years. Now, he's writing about his personal passion: being a dad. His new children's book is called Big Problems, Little Problems. It is the story of how a dad teaches his son to solve the daily challenges of life – and, in turn, the surprising ways in which a child can teach a grown-up to remember what is important, too. Written with lessons that apply to any family with young children, this book is distinctively told from a father's point of view and built on how a son and dad listen to and learn from each other. This is a tale about perspective, patience, and the ability to conquer frustration no matter what the problem! The book is currently scheduled for release in May 2022 from Tilbury House Publishers and is available now for pre-order on Amazon and at many other booksellers. Please check out Ben's book here https://www.amazon.com/Big-Problems-Little-Ben-Feller/dp/088448890X Please visit www.furthur.coach to say hi or schedule a free 30 minute coaching call. Today, I'm joined by Andrew Gil. Here's Andrew's bio in his own words: "I've lived a colorful life full of experiences that have taught me that life keeps coming, and the “tools” we choose will determine how we get to live. Self-Awareness, Curiosity, Empathy, and Gratitude are tools. So are Disassociation, Anger, and Substance Abuse. We get to choose our tools. At the end of 2013, I found myself in a place where I needed to let go of the tough guy that was fighting inside me and consider a different way to live, or I was about to lose the only thing I ever truly wanted, my family. I'm Jenn's husband and the father of two amazing teenagers who live life without fear of how I'll react to life's challenges; that's how I gauge my success. I've been sober since 2013 that's when I began the process of building my Emotional Intelligence with purpose. When I put a process in place for understanding my feelings it changed everything for me. It changed everything at home, and as a by-product, you can bet your ass it changed everything at work too. Being curious about what I react to also allows me to better understand the emotions of those around me. Like everyone, I'm a work in progress, sorting through my emotional triggers, but I can now tell if my emotions have hijacked my thoughts and actions." My theme music is by Isaac Lourie. (Where we think it matters most). Today, I'm joined by Matt Wilbur. Matt is the Founder and Head Coach of the The Fitness Rebellion. Growing up, Matt was a skinny, goofy kid who got beat up & bullied, which was what initially sparked his interest in lifting weights. This eventually led Matt to start competing in bodybuilding in 2012 shortly after he had begun dating his wife, Megan. Welcome to the Authentic Dad Podcast! I'm David Waranch and I coach and support fathers on having a greater impact in the world, living on their own terms, and flourishing in their relationships. (Where we think it matters most). Today, I'm joined by Simon Ravona. Simon is a Whole Person Certified Coach (WPCC), as well as a trained lawyer, negotiator, mediator and HR consultant. Since completing his own amicable divorce in 2017, Simon has immersed himself in every possible self-help resource including books, articles, podcasts and studies. In 2018, he started Catalytic Coaching Co. to help others, especially men, find wisdom, direction, and improvement, by looking into themselves, committing to mind-shifts and executing tiny habit changes. His self-help journey is informed by evidence that people—more often men—do divorce alone, without a guide, support, hoping lawyers and therapists will help them move on. However, Simon discovered that other community, and especially other men, are essential to overcoming major life obstacles. In 2017, Simon started a Meet-ups group, that went from zero to 120 members in one month. Simon found that people experience divorce almost alone; but wish to find support, wisdom and a path forward by connecting with others who have thrived despite divorce. This helped Simon realize that one of Simon's life purposes is to help people discover their own meaning, life purpose and achievement through internal integration, authenticity practice, self-love, learning and training. To reach him, please email him at simon@catalyticcoaching.co. Welcome to the Authentic Dad Podcast! I'm David Waranch and I coach and support fathers on having a greater impact in the world, living on their own terms, and flourishing in their relationships. Today, I'm joined by Chelsea King. Chelsea is an Organizational Development Consultant and Certified Professional Coach with Heart Centered Work, where she cultivates workplaces that honor the dignity of those who work there by developing honest and respectful communication processes. Previous clients include: The Nature Conservancy, Rogue Credit Union, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Heart of Oregon Cardiology and more. She was an Adjunct Professor at Portland State University, where she taught courses on Culture, Race and Communication. Chelsea is a publicly elected official who serves as the Vice-Chair of West Linn-Wilsonville School Board. She is also a co-founder of the Wilsonville Alliance for Inclusive Communities, an organization dedicated to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive place in Wilsonville, Oregon, where Chelsea resides with her three teenagers and a large floppy-eared dog. Chelsea is also the creator of Transmuting Heartbreak, a community that turns the pain of loss into an expanded capacity to give and receive love. Chelsea lived a chaotic childhood that had both trauma and unconditional love, poverty and creativity. As an adult, she vowed to create a stable life for herself and her own family. This vow motivated her toward significant achievement, but didn't protect her from her own divorce, which was the most painful process she has ever experienced. Movement, recovery, ritual and the support of community were integral to her healing. Now that she has moved through the pain (it still comes back up!) and is experiencing an expanded ability to give and receive love (it's a practice!), she has the desire to accompany others in their process of transforming the pain into greater authenticity and love. Welcome to the Authentic Dad Podcast! I'm David Waranch and I coach and support fathers on having a greater impact in the world, living on their own terms, and flourishing in their relationships. Today, I'm joined by Jeremy Stein. Jeremy grew up in the small town of Damascus, MD and quickly fell in love with art, music and movies from a young age. Like most grunge music fans in the 90's, Jeremy formed his first garage band in 1995 and would spend the next decade playing in various clubs and bars in different groups throughout Washington, DC and Baltimore, also finding a new love in photography and working with bands on graphic design and the early stages of social media. After getting married and starting a family, in 2015, Jeremy left the corporate world to form a marketing company, focusing on basketball and eventually professional speaking and podcasting. Living in Florida, a love of Walt Disney World grew and in 2017, after an abundance of questions from their family and friends about Disney, Jeremy and Rhonda decided to launch the Main Street Magic Podcast. Main Street Magic is hosted by Jeremy and Rhonda who, along with their 2 girls, have currently visited Disney World consecutively every month for over 5 years and continue to hit the parks and stay at the resorts on a regular basis to bring the latest content, news and reviews. Welcome to the Authentic Dad Podcast! I'm David Waranch and I coach dads on having a greater impact in the world, living on their own terms, and flourishing in their relationships. Today, I'm joined by Brendan James singer-songwriter Brendan James. In 2018, Brendan took a hiatus from touring, sold his house and hit the road for a once in a lifetime trip around the world with his wife and pre-school aged children. The journey brought the family closer together and inspired a batch of new songs. Brendan wrote the majority of the material for his new album Leap Taken on his laptop while traveling with his family, save for two new songs that were written in quarantine. Brendan and family began their globe-spanning trip in Holland and traveled to England, France, Italy, Croatia, Spain, Iceland, Rwanda, Thailand, and New Zealand staying in each country a minimum of fifteen days. They avoided tourist attractions, sought out local playgrounds and shopped at grocery stores to cook family meals together. The best part of the trip for the songwriter was going to sleep and waking up as a family every day for six months. "Leap Taken" was released on October 20, 2020. Find Brendan James Online! If you're a dad who is ready to make a greater impact in the world and build a deeper connection with yourself, children, and partner, I would love to hear from you.
