The RNIB Legacy Garden at RHS Flower Show Wentworth Woodhouse 2025 has been designed by Paul Hervey-Brookes a multi-award-winning garden designer, broadcaster, lecturer and plantsman. Through the design of the RNIB Legacy Garden, the planting, use of sculptures and much more besides, people will have the opportunity to explore what it might be like to live with sight loss, enabling them to see the world through the eyes of someone who is visually impaired. The garden will also be a deeply tactile space using texture, form, colour and sounds to create a truly immersive experience for everyone whether they are visually impaired or sighted. RNIB Connect Radio's Toby Davey caught up with Paul to find out how he got into horticulture and gardening, why he wanted to help the RNIB by designing the RNIB legacy garden, what he hopes the general public will take away after visiting the garden and how hopefully the garden will help to make people think about a more inclusive world for blind and partially sighted people. The news is always bad, and that's not an accident. “If it bleeds, it leads” has long been the theme that drives networks and newspapers to accentuate the negative because that's how you earn ratings and pageviews, baby! This week, Dr. Angus Hervey, founder of 'Fix the News' and the co-host of the podcast ‘Hope is Not a Verb' joins Paul to discuss the evolutionary and economic reasons behind this phenomenon and how it hurts us as a society. The dreadful headlines disguise the truth that we humans are making terrific progress fighting poverty, eradicating disease, finding alternatives to fossil fuels, and expanding human rights. But you wouldn't know that reading the New York Times or scrolling your Facebook feed. Of course everything isn't perfect. But thanks to technology and perhaps to the fact that—as Dr. King said—the arch of the moral universe bends toward justice, things are way better than they have ever been and they continue to improve. We ignore this to our peril and at the cost of our happiness. As Dr. Hervey cautions negative news is an addictive product that divides us as a society, "breeding cynicism, apathy, hopelessness, and even hate.” As if that weren't bad enough, it also prevents us in believing that progress can be made, saying “If we want more people to devote themselves to making progress, maybe we should tell more people that it's possible to make progress.” Further, he says that all these predictions of an AI apocalypse are highly-overblown. Angus earned his PhD in Political Econmomy at London School of Economics. His two TED Talks have generated millions of video views,  He lives in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia whence he spoke to Paul before his children woke up. He grew up fly fishing some blue ribbon trout streams in America (the S. Platte & the Arkansas Rivers).  Using his fly rod throughout his teenage years & into WW1. This image, which has played a crucial role in the royal's fall from grace, depicts Andrew with Virginia Giuffre, a victim of Jeffrey Epstein, and the convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell in the background.Hervey, who briefly dated Andrew in the 1990s, seems convinced that the picture has been manipulated, asserting that Andrew's head was superimposed onto Epstein's body. Despite these claims, the photographer who released the photo has dismissed the notion of tampering as "ridiculous."The T-shirt design, which Lady Victoria claims was created by the person she believes to be the original photographer, has sparked quite a buzz, leading to the establishment of her new clothing brand, The Faked.
