What does it take to scale a mortgage business from scratch—with your spouse—and still stay aligned on your mission and your marriage? In this episode, I chat with Elisha and Erik Norcott from Assurance Mortgages— a husband-and-wife team who've not only built a high-performing mortgage business but found a way to stay married while doing it. We talk about how they divide work, built a brand from scratch, and use social media strategically to reach different audiences—without stepping on each other's toes. If you've ever wondered what it's like to work with your partner—or how to build a brand that connects with clients at every life stage—this episode is for you. We'll cover: From Hygiene and Hustle to Mortgage Growth – How Erik's sales grind and Elisha's systems mindset built the foundation of their business. Branding Without a Logo – Why they avoided social media for years and what finally pushed them to build a presence. Two Voices, One Message – How they use one TikTok account to speak to different client avatars at different life stages. Dividing the Work – Who does strategy, who does compliance, and how they avoid stepping on each other's workflows. Staying Married While Scaling – Real talk about what makes it work (and what doesn't) when your spouse is also your business partner. The Bigger Mission – Why helping clients retire comfortably is their driving force—and how it shapes everything they do. Building a mortgage business is one thing. Building one with your spouse— and still enjoying the ride— is next level. Elisha and Erik are proof that it's possible when you lead with purpose, play to your strengths, and stay in your lane. In this special Mother's Day episode, Hollis shares how she became her mother's editor, co-writer, and narrator, helping bring a long-held dream to life. It's a powerful story about legacy, second acts, and the magic that can unfold when we say yes to what's been waiting inside us all along.

Title: God's Wisdom for a Complex World: A Tale of Two VoicesSpeaker: Nate HoldridgeText: Proverbs 8Overview: In this week's Sunday teaching, Pastor Nate Holdridge brings us a narrative sermon from Proverbs 8, where Wisdom herself recounts the long history of her voice—her partnership with God at creation, her battle against the serpent's lies, and her ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Speaking from the heights, at the crossroads, and within the gates of our lives, Wisdom invites us to heed her voice over the enemy's deception. This message reveals the tension between two eternal voices and invites listeners to embrace the victorious wisdom of the cross, now alive in the church and destined to reign forever.Link to Sermon NotesLink to Discussion Questions

This time Nick and Andy are together in the studio. They discuss a recent visit to the Watercress Line (Mid Hants Heritage Railway). The podcast leads on to the wider discussion on the popularity of heritage steam and diesel railways in the UK including the Great Central Railway in Loughborough & The Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster. There is a big reliance on volunteers. Nick and Andy discuss the advantages (and sometimes) disadvantages to organisations in having a volunteer base.Plus... they ask what sort of people go to heritage railways and what are their expectations of a day out? At the end they sample some Hampshire cheese and talk... as Waitrose fancily term it "terroir".It's all here... get in touch with the podcast via our website: twovoices.co.uk

Today, we speak with clinical psychologist Dr. Kaili Chen about how mindset affects our every action, and how we can manage it to achieve. Years of research has shown that there are two main inner critical voices that speak to us: Punitive and Demanding. Where the Punitive Critic will repeat negative judgments about your self worth and value to say things like “You are not good enough, why are you even here?” the Demanding Critic will repeat messages like “You should have prepared better.” By understanding where these voices came from, we can better identify, address, and manage them. But how? Dr. Kaili Chen explains. OUR LISTENER SURVEY IS LIVE! TAKE FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN FREE PROCESS GEAR! Take the survey here: https://forms.gle/mkTFFNr6stXvVcDk8 MORE ON DR. This week we chat with Kari Heggen, a bookstagrammer from Iowa who set herself a goal to read all the Newbery Award winners from the past 102 years. Originally she had planned to read 10 a year but she ultimately decided to just get her done. She read 49 of the winners in 2023 and got a jump start on 2024 by reading this year's winner, The Eyes and the Impossible by Dave Eggers. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has raged for decades, but this time it's different. The brutal killing of more than 1,400 Israelis by Hamas has shocked the country, precipitating a relentless counterattack by the Israeli military, which has killed thousands and displaced a million people in Gaza. The US has always had a central role in the conflict, and many are asking how that role should evolve. To get past the daily headlines, Say More's Shirley Leung speaks to two people with deep knowledge of the issue. First, Nadav Tamir, the former Israeli consul general to New England. He is now the director of J Street Israel, a nonprofit that organizes Americans to support peace and democracy in Israel. Then, Rashid Khalidi, a Middle East historian at Columbia University and author of the book “The Hundred Years' War on Palestine.” Email us at saymore@globe.com. The amazing vocal organ found in most birds, the syrinx, has two sides, with different sets of muscles and nerves controlling each side. That lets some songbirds sing two separate melodies at the same time. The Veery, a species of Thrush, can even sing a rising melody and a falling melody simultaneously with the two halves of the syrinx! More info and transcript at BirdNote.org. Want more BirdNote? We've reached Episode 200! We talk about our first ever episode that came from our Radio LaB 97.1FM radio show. We look at the Eurovision Song Contest… why so much fuss this year? TV licence fees… We find that it's not just the UK that has one. Who pays for all these subscription channels? Andy tries to find a way to learn foreign languages via TV channels. Other countries are much better at languages than the British. Why is that? Plus...Nick unusually does some binge watching of Welsh TV drama.… Our recommended watch is: Banjo Beale - Designing the Hebrides. Thank you for supporting us for 200 episodes. Finally, we come to the season finale of The Last of Us, season 1. Since starting our breakdowns, we have been excited about this very conversation. Would viewers of the show be challenged with the ending as much as the game challenged audiences over a decade ago? Would audiences be given enough to connect with to feel for Joel's position in the story? Ultimately, the story of The Last of Us boils down to this last episode. It asks audiences what they would do if this were their life and the life of someone they have come to care about. So much moral ambiguity makes this season finale one of the best and remains hotly debated. So in closing, does the show do the game justice, and what is your feeling on the actions Joel takes? It's easy to write off people outside our own ideological bubbles, even when we may have many goals in common. But as the effects of the climate crisis become more apparent, we need leaders from all political and industrial perspectives to work together. In the U.S., climate is a polarizing issue where it's too easy to assume that one side is working to reduce emissions and the other side is defending the status quo. But that's only a caricature of reality. There are people from many ideological backgrounds trying to address the climate crisis. I've come to Audible slowly. Not an early adopter because I struggled with the legitimacy of reading. I had to talk myself through the process of learning a language whether your heart language or a second or third or more. We learn listening. Reading is actually the third stage of language learning: listening, speaking, reading and then writing. All that to say, I've made peace with reading books on Audible by working this developmental process through in my head. See what it's like in my head? Complicated! I just completed two memoirs on Audible and I am here to say I'd choose to read them on Audible for the sheer benefit of hearing the authors tell their story in their own speaking voice. Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story by Bono Spare by Prince Harry I'm sharing what I learned for my own life from listening to theirs.
Three Voices If you've read Three Voices then you know we all have three voices that we all use to communicate with ourselves and others. Welcome to “The Emergent Human where we explore Optimizing Health, Embodied Spirituality and Post Conventional Living. Ostrolenk speaks with Jenny Wade Ph.D, a professor with the Integral and Transpersonal Psychology doctoral program at the California Institute of Integral Studies, developmental psychologist, and researcher. Dr. Wade details how she transitioned from a traditional career in marketing to one where her research of consciousness forms the basis of leadership. Dr. Wade also speaks of her work in altered states during sexual experiences, and how her own experience prompted her work in this field. She's found that the experience of altered states during sex are much like that of mystical experiences, in that most people have a similar type of experience. Interestingly, the experience is only minimally related to orgasming and for most who have experienced altered states during sex, it has prompted a subsequent spiritual journey.
