A group of researchers is calling for regulations on "dream advertising", warning that your Alexa device may soon be used to play ads while you sleep. Finally, in Japan, an emergency crew of rescue divers rushed to save a naked "drowning woman", only to discover it was actually a floating sex doll. This week on the BOX... DJ is better.  And alive.  And in the spirit of Easter, immediately compares his plight last week to that of Jesus. He talks a little about applied kinesiology and how it relates to his post-deathbed trip to Uncle Giuseppe's along with a list of foods he thinks would be bad to throw up. He also has some Spotify opinions.  He thinks there ought to be an incognito mode for the streaming service so that you can listen to something off the beaten path without it messing up your Discover Weekly.  He goes on to blame the Allman Brothers Band for the Grateful Dead showing up on his doorstep this week but also spends some time debating himself on the issue, and decides that maybe his own initial idea isn't actually a good one.  (Way to take a stand, my dude.)  DJ talks a little about what's going on in the world and urges his listeners to include some international news in their daily diet.  He also spends a good amount of time talking about his love of Candlebox, Stone Temple Pilots and Kix and where they all fit in his musical landscape and why they are all so damn important to him. The trouble with older music genres, parasites vs. bad mayonnaise, "Hey Alexa, play 99WN" and MORE!  This ain't your mom's lunchbox.   Sadly, despite paying full royalties on the BOX, the RIAA "antipiracy" department has rules against using copyrighted material without permission on the podcast replay, so you won't hear anything except direct submissions here, but you can still catch all the music from the show when the BOX runs live, Thursdays at noon on 99WNRR.com #onthebox Be social with DJ and Revel 9: https://www.revel9.com Music: Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/y4pjyokr Apple: https://tinyurl.com/yy6od4mz Physical: https://revel9.com/store Social: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/revel9band FB: https://www.facebook.com/revel9 IG: http://www.instagram.com/revel9band/ TW: https://www.twitter.com/revel9 #youtuber #revel9 #hardrocklunchbox #todaysrant #99wnrr #streamingradio #radiohost #currentevents #culture #lifestyle #jesus #parasites #spotify #foodpoisoning #incognito

January 21, 2021 Lazy or lucky? Anybody grateful? We’ve got digital devices that answer questions, “Hey Alexa what year was Jon Bon Jovi born?” Technically speaking there’s A.I.’s doing a lot of the work we used to do. We’re living through an evolution. I often wonder about who’s watching? Should the average person find reason to see and study how the atmosphere of the human touch is being lifted from the surface of modern day reality? Too sci-fi? After all, I’m a daily writer that holds a pen next to a physical sheet of paper. Talk about old fashioned! I could be saving trees by latching onto a notebook that allows me to still use my hard to create scribblings. But I choose not to. I love reaching into a journal dated several years back to feel the strength required to put ink into the page. I lightly rub my fingers over each thought and feel the energy from that moment in my present place of now. I can’t get that from a digital notebook. A major broadcast company announced in 2020 that they were moving toward a new world of A.I. presence and delivery. The evolution of unfelt emotion reaching to make a connection with the existence of a human. Too much sci-fi? How does it infect that art of being a creative mind and spirit? Musicians face the challenge every day. Authentic singer songwriters who’ve been bombard by electronics. Billie Eilish and her brother proved last year that all you need is a bedroom and a few computers to change the journey of sight and sound. Each time we open our eyes we step into the growing change. How are you participating? The Covid lockdown has shoved the business world into remote living. Why hasn’t X-Box and other gaming devices helped the millions of kids stuck at home trying to get an education. They have the technology to move through this evolution. Before you game. You must educate. Living through an evolution. Who’s watching?

64 - Allowing Ourselves to Heal When it comes to healing and taking time to take care of ourselves, we often roll over ourselves.  We sometimes put on the brave face and stick to our resilience rather than admitting we need to allow ourselves time to be human and heal. In this episode, I talk about how we have to be aware of ourselves when we have bad days or when we are disappointed in ourselves.  We can be strong, but we still bleed, we still hurt, and we have to show ourselves kindness.  We deserve to be kind to ourselves, and we need to be kind because often we are the only ones that show us kindness.   We would love to hear your thoughts on today’s episode! In this episode, I sit down with Monique AJ Smith and talk about how she is highlighting women of color in athletics.  She is hosting a podcast and launching a magazine to pave the way for younger women and give them amazing examples to look up to.  We discuss how the gatekeepers are gone and we can take control over our own lives. We discuss how you have to know who you are and what your passion is in order to fully step into your purpose.  Often when we take a job we only look at the money and how much we would make rather than asking ourselves: “Is this something that will bring peace and happiness?”  We talk about the importance of filling ourselves up so that we can then give to others, and that starts with taking care of and understanding who we are.  We would love to hear your thoughts on today’s episode! In today’s episode, I sat down with Stormii Knights and Tamika Archie of NuVysion Media Group to discuss their latest production and why they are passionate about sharing stories that address difficult topics. “Behind Closed Doors” touches on a myriad of taboo subjects, from domestic violence to human trafficking.  We talk about the struggles they faced in putting together a production team from scratch and what it was like filming scenes that re-enacted similar episodes that had happened to them. In today’s show, we dig into the mental health aspects of retelling these stories and how we can navigate our own self-care as storytellers. We also discuss the difficulty of creating a film that caters to both victims who have lived through abuse, as well as those who have not suffered abuse and for them to be able to relate to the tragedy on screen.   We would love to hear your thoughts on today’s episode! She also shares with us her own journey towards counseling and how culturally any kind of mental illness is very much swept under the carpet and the belief of just toughing it out is very prevalent, but how some of those barriers are beginning to come down in this generation. Oftentimes we are very hard on ourselves.  We think we have to perform a certain way, that we have to live up to expectations of others, that we have to be available whenever someone needs us, that we have to give and never take.  But in reality that is not a healthy way to live. In this episode I talk with you about how it is okay to focus on you, it’s okay to ignore the phone call or take the day off because sometimes we need that time to unplug and not have anyone relying on us.  We have to be kind to ourselves because often we are the only ones that are. So take a load off, unplug, destress, and take some time for you, because you are worth it, and your time and energy must be protected so that you can be the best you.  Please connect with us in our private Facebook Group: It’s All Mental Podcast. Merriam-Webster describes a hotline as: 1 : a direct telephone line in constant operational readiness so as to facilitate immediate communication2 : a usually toll-free telephone service available to the public for some specific purpose Have you ever called a hotline? Not necessarily for help with food or cooking but for help with anything? Well, if you haven’t, we’re here to fill in that gap for you. Season 5 is all about hotlines, specifically, the holiday food ones. And, we’re calling as many as we can during the podcast. Now there are, of course, lots of topics covered by hotlines because (especially now) people are not only learning how to bake bread and how to cook but many people are feeling lonely, isolated and in need of human connection, any kind of human connection. And, if that means someone on the other end of the phone line telling them how to proof their yeast (stay away from super hot water) or hang a picture on the wall, Hell, it’s time to take them up on that. Not only have you learned a new skill but it’s a super satisfying accomplishment. It’s not unlike the old adage that if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day but if you teach him HOW to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. I kinda feel that way about cooking. Who knew that our cooking at home mission would become so important. We never stray far from that message even in our craziest episodes. We want you to cook more at home and enjoy it! Sometimes that means we did and continue to do ridiculous stuff to get you to try cooking something different (or not so different) in your kitchen for your family and friends. So, here we are with Season 5! We’ve been doing this podcast thing for over a year now. We’ve had over 3600 downloads and that’s not bad for not being celebrities. We’re not resting on our laurels, though. We had to come up with something fun for us, entertaining and useful for you so The Holiday Hotline Season was born. In this first episode, Natalia and I give you a rundown on many of the hotlines that can’t wait to hear from you. We’ll reprise our very first holiday hotline call to the Butterball Turkey Talkline and who knows, we might get to talk to Mary again. But we’re not stopping there, we will be calling a couple other turkey helplines along with baking and cranberries. And, we’re always open to suggestions. Have a favorite hotline you’d like us to call? Let us know and we’ll call them and give you credit, too! So, now let’s kick off our second holiday season with Who You Gonna Call?. Enjoy! If you have a minute, please take a look at our Patreon page and consider becoming a member. And, many thanks to Cathy Wiedenhoeft for becoming our newest patron! You’re the best!! You don’t have to sign up but it’s easy to check it out and see what we’re talking about. We’ve got a lot of fun offerings for members that you won’t get to see, experience or have anywhere else. Don’t forget, you can find us all over the place now! We're on Amazon Music now so you really can tell Alexa, "Hey Alexa, play the podcast, Not A Single Fork!" and she will play the podcast. I tried it last night and it works! But wherever your favorite podcast listening place is, we’re probably there. Take us on the road anytime you like with Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Play or with our player right here. And, as if we needed to do something else, we will be moving our podcast to its very own website podcast page. It’s coming very soon so stay tuned. You’ll still be able to find us in all of those other places, too. Thanks for listening. We love you!!

Iranian, and it goes on and on North Korean, we're going to talk right now about our elections. 2020 a very big year. What's Russia up to, and what's the US doing about it. You're listening to Craig Peterson here on News Radio 98.5FM and AM 560. You can also listen to me online. If you have a smart speaker, let's say you have an Amazon. You can just say, Hey Alexa, play WGAN. And Tada it'll happen automatically. You can even program your smart speaker to turn it on automatically. So you can listen to Matt Gagnon every morning, Monday through Friday, that is as a, he gives you the latest news and keeps everybody up to date. So let's get into these US sanctions here, man, against the Russian hackers. We now know what happened in the 2016 election. In the 2016 election. You might remember. We had emails stolen from the DNC, the Democrat national committee. In fact, it's known as the DNC email leak. These are emails that were stolen by some hackers running under the pseudonym of Guccifer 2.0, and it's been alleged that the Russian. Intelligence agency hackers, according to indictments carried out by the Mueller investigation. Some of the very few minutes, they cost us tens of millions of dollars with all Mueller investigation. Nowadays, the thinking is actually more along the lines of China. It was China that might have done those DNC hacks. China also hacked our national HR department for federal employees, where we lost all of these federal employee records, including background checks for people who had Secret, top-secret clearance, et cetera. Just terrible stuff. Our government has not been keeping good tabs on our information in many cases. So now we're looking at 2020, I don't know, in my lifetime, if there has been a more contentious election cycle, in the sixties, you certainly had some bad ones. 1968 was a rough year. For our country, rough year. In fact, for many countries back in 68 out on the West coast. it really was a bad time.  A lot of people had a lot of the same sentiments that they have today. Well, many of those same people are now in government offices, elected offices, et cetera. They still seem to have some of the same thoughts and they are causing as much disruption as they possibly can. But at least those people are Americans, right? You can criticize the news, media, or Facebook for not properly censoring things or not reporting on the story, the whole story, and nothing but the story. Many of these news outlets now tend to be editorial outlets. Whereas right here, when you listening to me or anyone else on the stations you are getting, I think the truth. Obviously, when it's editorial, it's obviously editorial, but they're not running headlines. Like this last week. I was just shocked and amazed. President Trump has these countries over these Arab countries over in the middle East signing peace agreements with Israel. What is the headline that CNN runs? That the white house has a mass of people out front that are not social distancing and not wearing masks. These were people who came to the White House who were invited for some of these signing ceremonies. There were representatives there from Israel, from these Arab countries. Did they bother mentioning that? Was that their headline? No, it wasn't their headline. There was a lack of social media, just unseen was their headline. How's that news. I just don't get it. So very contentious and now we're hearing people like Hillary Clinton, secretary of state, former secretary of state saying, it doesn't matter whether Joe Biden wins or not, he cannot, should not, will not concede the race even if trump wins clearly. Really? I thought you said Trump, wasn't going to leave Office. Here you are calling for people not to leave Office. It couldn't be more contentious. It's absolutely insane. What's going on right now. Some people. Really dislike our president. it's absolutely nuts. So what are the foreign countries going to do? Because I, frankly, I don't know. I don't think most foreign countries hate President Trump as much as some people in our country hate President Trump.  I'm not just saying, Democrats. I know there are many Republicans that really hate President Trump. And I don't like using that word because hate is such a strong word. But these foreign countries are going to do whatever they can to really mess things up. Now in 2016, Russia kind of mess themselves up. They were promoting Hillary Clinton in some ads or. Promoting president Trump in some ads. In fact, the numbers I saw showed that they spent more money promoting Hillary Clinton and her becoming President on Facebook than they spent money promoting Donald Trump. So I don't know how the Russians helped President Trump. They were actually helping Hillary more. And then to top it off, the Russians were spending money on ads and running ads after the election, it occurred. So they really messed it up. Don't expect them to mess it up as badly this time. The US Department of the treasury's office of foreign assets control has sanctioned for Russia linked individuals for their efforts to interfere with the 2020 presidential election. So this came out of, or at least it was aligned with Microsoft. Microsoft had published some details on groups that were targeting both campaigns coming out of Russia. The campaigns are out of Russia. Both the Democrat and the Republican campaigns were both being attacked and Microsoft noticed it. Now don't expect Microsoft to notice that your company is being attacked. I want to emphasize that. Microsoft, if you have office 365,  doesn't have any guarantees of security. In fact, their anti-spam measures are actually pretty poor and to get into much higher levels. We tend to run our customer's emails through as special anti-spam anti-malware filters that we have from Cisco and then we send that email off to Microsoft. Even though they have the enterprise, higher-level enterprise accounts. So one of these people that was sanctioned is a member of the Ukrainian parliament has been an active Russian agent for over a decade and apparently is close to Russian intelligence. He is a coordinator coordinated. This indictment here directly or indirectly engaged in sponsoring concealed or otherwise been complicit in foreign meddling in the 2020 election. The Treasury's alleging that between May and July, this year, he ran an influence campaign focused on creating narratives around us officials in the upcoming election. He released edited audio tapes as well as other unsupported information with the goal of discrediting US officials and spreading false allegations against the US and international political figures. This is from an article over at dark reading, you'll find up on my website @craigpeterson.com and apparently these narratives were designed to get some corruption investigations going. Like the fake Russian dossier that got investigations going against the Trump campaign under the Obama administration, which has now been proven, fake, including all of the testimonies that the chairman Schiffs committee reviewed. But now that they've been released, we can see what was true and of course, chairman Schiff out just saying the exact opposite of the testimony that was given to him in committee closed-door committees. They were in a skiff, but anyways. So they were using press conference coverage, other news events, interviews, and statements as well. Now I have some software that if you listen to my podcast, for instance, and you can find it on most major podcasting platforms. But if you listened to my podcast, you might've noticed that last week I used an artificial intelligence program to first of all have a female narrator say about four or five words in one spot. And then also I used one to change some of the words I was saying, I did not get a single email from anybody. I don't know that of the hundreds or thousands of people that listened to the podcast. How many people picked up on that? Because no one said anything. So your host, me, Craig Peterson, has been inserting some of this fake technology that allows me to pretend I said something that didn't actually say. So think of what the Russians or any of these other countries have available to them. Going forward this is going to be very concerning to me cause you're not going to know what's real, what's fake. I think it was Hillary Clinton's campaign that coined the term fake news and then President Trump's campaign picked it up. Of course, he's been screaming, fake news forever. Secretary Clinton lost control of the fake news narrative. There's one thing when it's fake news because they're not giving you the whole story or they're not giving you the story in context. It's a completely different thing when the fake news is quite literally fake. And if you want to go online, go to youtube.com and search for fake and then Mark Zuckerberg. There's one for him out there. Bill Gates, fake bill Gates. And you'll see, not just video with the audio behind it. Where he's saying something he never said, but you'll see. It looks like a video of him saying something he never said. It's absolutely amazing. I can bet the Russians are going to be involved in that. And in fact, that is part of the sanctions against these Russian attackers. They are meddling. And their, meddling with our news media, who seems very hungry for anything that might be salacious. Hey, if you missed anything today, make sure you check it out online@craigpeterson.com. Negative ions are the opposite of positive ions. Negative ions have a positive effect on your body, where positive ions aren't so kind to your body, Crazy right?  Peaceful places such as the ocean, or a stream in the midst of a forest are prime places that emit negative ions. These negative ions are then inhaled and enter our bloodstream, which can have positive effects on our moods.   Not only this but it also affects our inner clock, our circadian rhythm. This is important to understand because often we walk through life ignoring the things around us, denying ourselves of things that positively affect us. It is important to be aware and pay closer attention to these negative ions because they provide such healthy benefits. Often we associate feeling good when we are at the beach or camping as just that, enjoying ourselves, but we don’t realize that negative ions are at work in our body as we embrace the outdoor environment we are in. Often trauma that we have experienced in the past can lay quiet for quite some time, and then it builds up over time until it spills out and wrecks our lives.  It does this by lowering our self-esteem, causing us to have low boundaries, distrust, failed relationships, and more. It can even make us believe that receiving abuse is normal. But it is so important to realize that it is not normal.  We have to work through the past trauma with someone who can help us realize that what has maybe been our normal, is not normal and why we need to change our outlook on abuse and trauma in order to rise above it.   Even if you think that you don’t have any trauma, there may still be underlying things that you have forgotten about.  In addition, sometimes we think the trauma has not affected us, and we are doing fine, but trauma will always come out in some way, maybe not today, but it will come out if not dealt with. Spiritual Trauma

It's All Mental

Spiritual trauma is trauma that ensued while attending a religious function or anywhere you get fed spiritually.  Trauma that comes from these places usually stems from abuse, and often abuse of power.  As a result, it can destroy your relationship not just with the people there at the facility, but with your relationship with your higher power.  It can cause you to question yourself and whether you did something wrong, and even push you away from your faith. Spiritual trauma sadly takes place far too often within the confines of spiritual places.  It is very important to not self-blame during these times but to seek out help from a third not-partisan party to help you through this time.  But don’t hold it inside and allow it to cause you to doubt your faith or who you are. Seek out help from someone outside your facility and get help.   It can be more shaming when the abuse stems from this place that we look to for guidance and that we trust, but it is far more common than you think and you are not alone. Imposter syndrome is when we know what we are doing, but doubt creeps in and tries to tell us that we are inadequate to do the task.  Often it comes in as nervousness, anxiety, and fear.  It can be crippling if we allow it because it can keep us from asking. The thing is, we have to take a step back and evaluate, realizing that we are fully capable, that we have prepared for the task at hand, and have the necessary skills and training in order to pursue and go after the thing that is before us. Often this can be as simple as deep breathing and recenter ourselves.  This allows us to realize that often it is just our nerves that are firing up, which can be a good thing, as it can keep us on our toes, and helps us do the best we can.
