It's official, the totally reasonable pardon was given to one of baseball's most cherished players. Just kidding a bad orange man pardoned a gambler and possible pedophile for no real reason. Birds of a feather. Also Zelenskyy visits the White House and gets yelled at by people who can't stop lying and guess what? They completely lie about what they are yelling about but all they have to do is hit a few baseballs and they too could be pardoned.Support the show

Joined today by New York Times best selling author, Keith O'Brien. Keith reminisces about growing up in Cincinnati, attending Northwestern and his favorite alumni. Due to my obsession with UK, we chat about his first book “Outside Shot” about Kentucky High School basketball. Then, Keith tells us about finding out he was a New York Times best selling author, how he got notified, and any pressure he feels with the title before his name. We discuss his amazing new book, “Charlie Hustle the Rise and Fall of Pete Rose, and the last glory days of baseball”. He shares why he wanted to write about Pete Rose, getting interviews from all former players, and what makes Pete so fascinating and unique. We go over the myths of Pete Rose: getting the name, Charlie Hustle, how he was drafted because of nepotism, and his meteor rise to the majors. We chat about his Mount Rushmore type of records, why he's one of the greatest players ever and how that is all overshadowed by his downfall of gambling. We touch base about the carnage he created, life after baseball and much more. From texting with George Foster to cool memorabilia, Keith O'Brien was an incredible guest Follow Keith and purchase his books here: https://www.instagram.com/obrienstory https://x.com/KeithOB

If standing the test of time matters, Smokin' Dave Cokin earns a big checkmark as one who has withstood the rigors of handicapping sports professionally for 36 years and counting.Dave has literally been around sports gambling for virtually his entire life. His experience was initially on the other side of the counter in Rhode Island, where he was born and raised. Dave began the process of switching sides in 1981 after winning the National Handicappers Bowl, which was featured in Pro Football Weekly, and decided at that point that it was time to start making the move to Las Vegas.Dave's entry into the Las Vegas media side of the equation began with a guest appearance on Lee Pete's popular late-night sports gambling show that emanated at the time from the Frontier Hotel and was broadcast on a 50,000-watt car channel that was picked up clearly in virtually all the western states. That led to syndicated columns in numerous national publications, and eventually a network gig with the Sports Fan Radio Network. SFRN featured "The Pete Rose Show" on which Dave served as the Hit King's co-host, and he was also a part of several other programs on that network. Dave also received high visibility as part of the panel on "Proline", which aired for decades on the USA Cable Network.A member of the Nevada Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and a two-time winner of the state's Sportscaster of the Year Award, Dave is still on the mic Monday through Friday each week on "The Las Vegas Sportsline" which airs on ESPN Las Vegas.Turning to handicapping philosophy, Cokin is a believer in working the numbers. That's not only in terms of creating his own betting line for each game but also in maximizing his ability to gauge the market and get the right price. The latter is of extreme importance in terms of garnering an advantage. Every sports bettor is going to experience wins and losses. By striking when the odds are at their most favorable point, profits are increased and losses are diminished. Dave believes that perhaps his greatest strength as an analyst is having the ability to read the market better than most.Dave's media connections are likely second to none as far as sports bettors are concerned, and this means the wherewithal to get good information from reliable sources. Sports handicapping is definitely mostly about what one knows, but who one knows carries plenty of weight as well.

Then they dive into Sonny Gray’s precipitous decline, Trevor Bauer’s general tomfoolery, and Ken Giles inadvertently spurring a different kind of conversation on toxic masculinity and self-harm. Finally, a discussion on injuries around the league turns into the conversation no one has been waiting for: the DH argument. This doesn’t mean they’ll stop teasing it on the show. Pete Rose is suing longtime detractor, John Dowd for defamation of character. In this case, Dowd turned the tables on Rose and introduced a witness who claims she was with the Hit King as a minor, although Rose says she was of legal age which in Ohio is 16. All of this occured the week before the Phillies were supposed to be honoring Pete Rose in a Wall of Fame ceremony at Citizens Bank Park on August 12th 2017. That was cancelled by both parties, Rose and the Phillies, as well as a Pete Rose Bobblehead night that was supposed to be held on August 11th 2017. That has been cancelled as well. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/phillies/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/phillies/support

There’s no denying Pete Rose’s place among the greatest and most passionate players the game has ever seen. However, the man with the most hits in baseball history is still without a Hall of Fame plaque. That doesn’t do much to suppress the outpouring of support from his legions of fans – including Terry Lukemire, who grew up following the Reds in the heyday of “The Big Red Machine.” His 2010 documentary is just a small example of how Rose continues to be revered in Cincinnati even though he may not yet be recognized in Cooperstown. Chet Coppock and "Hollywood" Del Yates have a couple of opinions on Pete Rose. Coppock wants to see new MLB Commish Rob Manfred make a splash and introduce the post-Bud Selig era with a pardon for the Hit King. However, Yates doesn't think there is any reason to reward a liar and a cheater just because there is a new sheriff in town.

I've always wanted to sit next to Pete Rose, he's been so many lessons in life, who has been reduced to what he always was. The hit King, period. The essence of the fallen hero and the epitamy of why we should never make athletes too hero like. I look over the 3 most fallen sports hero in my lifetime and reflect on the strength Oklahoma with my childhood memories of Sooner football. One armed guys vs. One legged ones in a baseball game, that's on this day & a 4th Cave lottery pick all this week on Lawheads Court...
