This final season of my show is going so fast, and I only have a little over five months left to share with you the remaining topics and guests before we say our final goodbye in October. You know that I have had a theme for months, but every now and then, I take a break from the theme to bring a voice or concept to you that I think is thought-provoking or important.    Joining me today is James Robert Lay, founder of the Digital Growth Institute and author of the book Banking on Change. I have had multiple conversations with James Robert over the past few years and think he has a truly brilliant view of where financial institutions need to go and how many of us, as leaders and teammates, should be viewing change and how that impacts the future of our companies. This episode is a conversation I don't think you should miss, no matter what industry you work in.  For more information, visit the show notes at  https://www.martinisandyourmoney.com/show-notes/episode532-james-robert-lay

These occurrences can be seen as mere conjuring of dark archetypes, as described by Carl Jung. But what is even more chilling is the revelation that the child of a darker entity has learned to taunt us with spooky actions at a distance. Join us as we explore these events and try to make sense of them in the world of paranormal investigations.Originally Broadcast On 11/28/18Liking this episode?   Get more episodes, news and other bonuses when you become a member of Ground Zero: Aftermath.   Get a free trial now!

Then some real garbage stuff happens and everyone just kind of decides, "Hey you, mullethead. You fucking dick. This was your fault!" and blames him. But there is a very strong case that none of it is his fault after all. So you be the judge, dear listeners. Does this shithead deserve his fate or not? Enjoy!

Plato's Heaven: A User's Guide is based on an in-depth filmed conversation between Howard Burton and James Robert Brown, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Toronto. This wide-ranging conversation addresses a central theme in current philosophy: Platonism vs. Naturalism and provides accounts of both approaches to mathematics. The Platonist-Naturalist debate over mathematics is explored in a comprehensive fashion and also sheds light on non-mathematical aspects of a dispute that is central to contemporary philosophy. Financial Tea in the Morning
Breaking the Cycles of Debt Through Financial Fitness

Financial Tea in the Morning

For better or worse, our views and habits about money are shaped by the environments in which we grew up. If the adults around us struggled to maintain solid financial footings, we might inadvertently repeat their cycles of debt. Credit unions offer folks safe, shame-free spaces where they can strengthen their financial fitness.  Diego and his guests explore the transformative power of member-focused fiscal education - with Tanya Valdez, Santa Fe registered nurse & DNCU member; Juan Fernández Ceballos, president and CEO, Credit Union Association of New Mexico; James Robert Lay, best-selling author and founder & CEO, Digital Growth Institute; Deb Salazar, chief experience officer, Del Norte Credit Union; and Kristin Harrison, director of business development, WebStrategies, Inc. At a time when very little is taboo in conversation, the topic of personal finances still makes people more uncomfortable than s-e-x. That's too bad because money always matters: where it comes from, what you do with it, and yes, how you talk about it.  “Financial literacy alone, as a standalone, does more harm than good because it creates a pseudo sense of confidence,” says James Robert. “But when you layer that education on top of advisory, what I would call coaching, now we're looking at financial health.” Credit unions are partners in their members' fiscal well-being. Like gyms, credit unions offer support through various tools, programs, and options designed to strengthen core money muscles.  When you're in top-notch fiscal health, those around you are more likely to learn from the example you've set. Still, long-held shame around one's ability to manage money can often prevent a person from seeking comprehensive, compassionate assistance. Credit unions don't play the blame game or pressure members into unfit options. They put members on a path towards their goals or point them in the direction of someone who can help them now. “I often tell people that money is money,” Juan says. “Either you have a plan for money, or money has a plan for you. And, when money has a plan for you, it's not a good plan.”  Credit unions foster relationship-focused conversations in which money matters are no longer taboo. Hey, financial fitness may not be the sexiest topic, but, as Juan explains, “It's a topic that can really change your life.”    Learn more and tell us what it means to YOU to belong: http://www.financialteainthemorning.com   Financial Tea Hot Sip: Next time you're thinking about making a big purchase, use a financial calculator. Digital banking and belonging aren't mutually exclusive propositions, at least not for credit unions. Diego and his guests discuss the innovative interactive technologies that credit unions use to enhance member experience and strengthen relationships - with Tanya Valdez, Santa Fe registered nurse & DNCU member; Kristin Harrison, director of business development, WebStrategies, Inc.; James Robert Lay, founder & CEO, Digital Growth Institute; and Chris Murrin, sales experience support manager, GTE Financial.  If you ask someone why they haven't switched over to a credit union yet, the most likely answer is, “Because the big banks offer more bells and whistles.”  Those big bank bells and whistles come at a high cost. “Are they convenient? Sure. But in a company like that, you're not even a number. You're not even a dot,” says Kristin, explaining that to the behemoth financial technology companies of the world, your hard-earned money barely registers. On the other hand, credit unions offer the same great digital features as a big bank with the added benefit of knowing that members - not numbers - are all working towards a common goal: fiscal security.  Another reason people don't switch to a credit union? They simply don't like change. That's also true for members who are wary of adopting new technology. “Money is one of the most emotional and stressful subjects that we all deal with,” says James Robert. “We must keep people at the center of all of our thinking, all of our doing.” Here, too, credit unions lead the big banks by creating solutions that meet our members where they are. Swipe payments and transfers, online mortgage applications, and interactive teller machines are just some of the ways we center our members while providing the personalized service they've come to expect. “I truly think we'll always have a branch presence. It may not look like it does today, obviously,” Chris says, adding that credit union branches don't look like they did 20 years ago, either. “I think we're always changing with the times.”  Read more and tell us what it means to YOU to belong: http://www.financialteainthemorning.com   Financial Tea Hot Sip: Taking care of each other also means taking care of ourselves, and our planet. James Owen Roberts is an entrepreneur, podcast host, and international speaker with over 15 years of experience in exercise, diet, and mindset as both a coach and 2x Paralympic athlete. In addition to running James Owen Roberts Coaching, he also serves as a Wheelchair Rugby League Ireland consultant. James was born to military parents at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (S.H.A.P.E). James’ mother was a NATO civilian for 33 years, and his father was a Master Sgt in the United States Air Force. He grew up on the base until he graduated from SHAPE American High School. James was born with a congenital disability called femoral dysplasia, also known as Proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD) or Congenital Femoral Deficiency (CFD). This rare, non-hereditary congenital disability affects the pelvis, particularly the hip bone and the proximal femur. The disorder affects James on the left side, with the hip being deformed and the leg shortened. Also, James was born with a floating hip and scoliosis of the spine. James only truly got involved with disability sport in 2002 at the age of 16 after swimming at age 11. He used the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games as a springboard to my future career as a High-Performance Athlete. There were many highs and lows along with his 10-year career in high-performance sport. James Owen Roberts quickly rose through the ranks within disability sport, and by 2003, he had already broken into British Swimming’s Development Squad. However, two years later, he was dropped from the program. James went home thinking he would become a regular student. Disability Sport Wales (DSW) performance director, Anthony Hughes, asked James to try his hand at rowing; James accepted and went on to compete at three world championships and finished 5th at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics. Then another opportunity to represent his country once more; however, it was an unexpected call-up to the World Championships in 2010 being held in Oklahoma. James says that it is surreal at times reading some of the old press releases, especially from his time at The University of Chester, where he studied for his Postgraduate Certificate in Sociology of Sport Exercise. The difficulty was he had to balance the Postgraduate course with his full-time training in the lead up to London 2012 back at Roehampton University, London, where Great Britan Volleyball was based. “Not just a state of mind… But a way of life.” - James Robert Owens James was very fortunate to be quite busy after the games, promoting Paralympic sport and talking about his experiences with school children in North Wales. He received an opportunity to speak at a college in London, and then in 2014, he was invited to talk on the Awaken Your Alpha podcast, which is how he ended up here with us today on the TRUE Success podcast. Character Corner - A Podcast on Your favorite Comic Book Characters

To Me My X-Fans! It's Month of X time.   It’s finally here. It’s October so it's not only time for another episode of the Pull List but this is a special month. It’s the Month of X. We’re going to discuss Jonathan Hickman starting his X-Men run with Powers of X and House of X that set the table for the upcoming Dawn of X that feels like a X-Men story that has been brewing since the Claremont era.     But you’ll have to wait for that Month of X discussion. Before we get to that we want to go through all the other great (and some not so great) comics we’re reading. Spoiler Alert: There are a LOT of great comic books out there. It’s actually becoming a problem for our wallets. Below are some of the highlights of the books we’re reading. It’s not a complete list, for that you have to listen to the episode.    Non-DC/Marvel Books: Catalyst Prime Seven Days - A few months ago news came out that Gail Simone would be tapped to be the chief architect for Lion Forge’s Catalyst Prime superhero line of comics. If you haven’t been checking out some of the superhero books under Lion Forge you absolutely should. Noble and Superb are books we’ve mentioned on the Pull List before and there are many others. Well, Catalyst Prime Seven Days #1 just dropped and Simone is writing that. We’re cheating a bit by adding it to this list as we haven’t actually read it yet, but it was definitely bought and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell others they should. If you want superhero books but outside of DC and Marvel then you need to be supporting Lion Forge’s Catalyst Prime line.   Transformers - This one hurts. As much as we loved James Robert’s run of More Than Meets the Eye and Lost Light, hearing that the latest run (not by Roberts) is not good breaks our hearts.  Power Rangers - Yes. Power Rangers comics are good. You should be reading them.   DC Justice League - DC Universe has put on a few more issues from Scott Snyder’s Justice League run. While the DC Universe app is clearly set up for video and not reading comics, it’s stills serviceable enough (It’s no Marvel Unlimited). Still, I’ve been able to go through and catch up on some DC books that I’ve missed. Snyder’s Justice League run is one of them. Now I can admit I was a bit frustrated with Dark Knight: Metal but now that there has been more time to flesh out the DC world thanks to books like Justice League, I want to revisit it.  Batman Annual #3 - With Joker all in the news right now, it felt like a good time to go back to the New 52 Batman run and reread the 3rd annual issue written by James Tynion. Titled ‘Friends’, it’s a chilling tale of just how terrifying the Joker can be. The Flash - I feel like we talk about this book but at the same time not enough. Williamson is killing it on this run just like King is on his run with Batman. I know we're bias and we're Wally West marks but even we have to give credit with what Williamson is doing with Barry and the Speed Force (and other Forces). There have been so many great issues. Like the spotlight on the Trickster (Jesse James) in issue #66. Issue 80 just came out and if you're behind now is the time to catch up. Flash Forward -  It’s too early to call this one. It could be the redemptive arc that makes Wally the hero all of us who still know him to be the fastest man alive to be. Or it could be a dumping ground for characters that didn’t survive books that DC previously cancelled.  Batman (Tom King) - Tom King’s run on Batman is coming close to ending with the City of Bane story and it has been one helluva ride. While some might not like what he’s done with Bruce/Batman, I love it. I’m hoping that this opens up for a new status quo for Bruce. Doomsday Clock - We talked about this last episode but Doomsday Clock is really coming together. It might not have always been the plan to delay this series for so long but the timing is working well with the rest of the DC Universe.

James Robert Deal is a Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate from the state of Washington. I received a request to have him on the show, and spent some time looking at his web site (www.jamesrobertdeal.org). My impression was that he was sincere and honest, very rare these days in politics, and his book, What To Serve A Goddess When She Comes To Dinner (www.whattoserveagoddess.com) also looked unique and interesting. We talk a lot about food from a health perspective on Lost Arts Radio, but I have never encountered a "theology of food," and knew I would need to talk to James to understand what that is. So I invited James to come on the show, and he graciously said he would join us. I am reading as much of his book as I can before the show, and we will get into detail on what it says during the show discussion. Also I am very interested to hear from a sincere Green Party candidate more about not only the environmental issues for which the Party is named, but also the social and economic perspectives that James is promoting for America. Personally, I have been a strong environmental advocate for more than 50 years, but many of the social and economic policies of the Green Party conflict with what seems true to me. So this is a great opportunity to understand better what these policies mean and where they come from. I like to learn from people of all points of view, and I recommend we all do that as much as possible, since as humans we all have the same common interest of making life better for present and future generations. We should be able to work together to accomplish that, instead of falling for the total division and animosity that our mainstream corporate media is pushing on us every day.

James Robert Wright resides in Dallas, Texas and has held many positions and decorations in his Masonic Lodges and Scottish Rite, in keeping with preferred family tradition. His ancestral roots can be traced back to the Wiseman clan of Scotland and later Britain, of which many of the males were Templars at the time of the Crusades. James has a background in entertainment production, emergency dispatch, IT support, and then proceeding all that the obvious formal employ as an Envoy to the Supreme Council under the establishment of Freemasonry. Five years into being an actual Mason up to one year with carte blanche access to vaults and archives as Special Assistant to the Secretary-General, he unexpectedly uncovered some of the most shocking revelations about this so-called 'international charitable fraternal service organization'.
