Maximus Resources Ltd (ASX:MXR, OTC:MXRRF) managing director Tim Wither joins Proactive's Tylah Tully to discuss the positive results from Phase 2 drilling at Wattle Gold Dam, near Kambalda, Western Australia. The drilling confirmed elevated gold, with samples showing up to 1-metre at 8.05 g/t of gold. The site is positioned along the Spargoville shear zone, where a potential structural offset of the high-grade Wattle Dam Gold Mine has been identified. The discovery of biotite-amphibole alterations within the rock indicates promising gold prospectivity, as biotite has historically been a marker for high-grade mineralisation at Wattle Dam. Wither noted that the Phase 2 results build confidence in the geological model and enhance future exploration prospects. However, the coarse nature of the gold presents challenges, with high variability in grade estimates. To address this, the company increased assay sample sizes to better represent gold content, a key step for future drill programs. Initial assays suggest coarse gold is likely present, similar to historical mining conditions at the site. Maximus will continue refining drilling targets for a Phase 3 program at Wattle Dam, scheduled for the fourth quarter, and aims to advance gold production in parallel with further exploration. #ProactiveInvestors #ASX #GoldExploration #MiningNews #WattleDam #MaximusResources #DrillingResults #CoarseGold #SpargovilleShearZone #GoldMineralisation #BiotiteAlteration #GoldProspectivity #GoldMining #GeologicalUnderstanding #ExplorationPrograms #GoldAssays #Phase2Drilling #WesternAustralia #MiningIndustry #GoldSampling #ResourceDevelopment #Paleochannel #GoldProduction #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews
Maximus Resources Ltd (ASX:MXR, OTC:MXRRF) managing director Tim Wither joins Proactive's Tylah Tully to discuss a reverse circulation drill program at the Bird Rock and Kandui lithium prospects in Western Australia as part of the Lefroy Lithium Joint Venture with Korea Mine Rehabilitation and Mineral Resources Corporation (KOMIR). The program includes 14 holes covering approximately 1,500 metres with nine holes targeting newly discovered spodumene-bearing pegmatites at Bird Rock and five holes at Kandui to further assess the continuity of mineralisation. The drilling at Bird Rock aims to understand the pegmatite's dip and direction. At Kandui, this third phase of drilling follows geological modelling and aims to explore large, spodumene-bearing pegmatites identified in previous phases. Although initial lithium grades were lower than expected, the discovery of fertile pegmatites points to potential high-grade zones. Notable previous intersections include 6 metres at 1.11% Li2O and 18 metres at 0.24% Li2O. Under the JV, KOMIR is funding up to US$3 million for lithium exploration to earn a 30% interest. Drilling results are expected within 3-6 weeks, and a site visit by KOMIR is planned for October. #ProactiveInvestors #MaximusResources #ASX #LithiumExploration, #LefroyProject, #LithiumMining, #Pegmatite, #KOMIR, #BirdRock, #KanduiProspect, #LithiumMineralisation, #RCDrilling, #Spodumene, #WesternAustraliaMining, #LithiumCaesiumTantalum, #MineralExploration, #MiningProjects, #GeologicalModelling, #LithiumBattery, #Kambalda, #MiningJV, #MiningDevelopment #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews
Lunnon Metals Ltd (ASX: LM8) managing director Ed Ainscough provides Proactive's Jonathan Jackson with an update on the Long South Gap exploration program at the Silver Lake-Fisher (SLF) Project in the Kambalda nickel district. The Long South Gap, an underexplored 5.8-square-kilometre area, lies adjacent to the historical Silver Lake mine and the Kambalda Dome. Processing and analysis of 3D seismic survey data collected in late 2023 by Southern Geoscience Consultants Pty Ltd (SGC) revealed a previously unrecognised channel feature potentially rich in nickel. This channel is approximately 1-kilometre long, 100-150 metres wide, starting at 670 metres below the surface and plunges at a 40° angle. It is halfway between Wyloo's McLeay channel and Lunnon's Silver Lake channels, offset 700 metres from McLeay channel due to the Alpha Island fault. Lunnon has prioritised this area for its geological prospects, focusing on the basal Lunnon Basalt-ultramafic contact and any significant faults. Despite the promising findings, the company will pause new surface nickel exploration activities due to current market conditions and focus on low-cost, near-surface gold exploration at Foster-Baker. Ainscough highlighted the company's strategy to conserve cash while remaining prepared to resume exploration when market sentiment improves. Meanwhile, low-cost methods, including machine learning, will be explored to further analyse the 3D seismic data. #ProactiveInvestors #ASX #LunnonMetals #NickelExploration #GoldExploration #LongSouthGap #3DSeismicData #MiningUpdates #KambaldaDistrict #SilverLakeFisher #WylooPtyLtd #GeologicalSurvey #NickelDiscovery #ExplorationUpdate #MiningSector #SeismicSurvey #NickelChannel #AlphaIslandFault #FosterBaker #GoldMining #MiningIndustry #MachineLearning #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews
Lunnon Metals Ltd (ASX:LM8, OTC:LNMLF) managing director and CEO Edmund Ainscough spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about BHP's decision to suspend its Nickel West operations in Australia until at least 2027 and its impact on Lunnon Metals. Ainscough explained the decision brings clarity to the market. He said BHP had already announced the closure of the Kambalda Nickel Concentrator in February, highlighting that this event allows Lunnon Metals to move forward without the constraints of relying on BHP's infrastructure. "It's time to look forward to a future that doesn't necessarily involve that Kambalda concentrator or BHP," Ainscough stated. Lunnon Metals has been preparing for this shift, having already identified a site on its tenements for a new, modern float plant. This site, previously home to the St Ives gold plant, offers existing infrastructure that will facilitate the development of their own concentrator. Ainscough noted the resilience and profitability of its nickel assets, stating it is well-positioned to finance the new concentrator independently. When asked about the impact on the Foster South nickel project, Ainscough confirmed that their focus remains on gold to generate immediate revenue, despite the positive news for nickel. He also discussed the recent seismic survey data from the Long South Gap exploration program, indicating potential new nickel channels that could be explored when market conditions improve. Maximus Resources Ltd (ASX:MXR) managing director Tim Wither sits down with Proactive's Jonathan Jackson to discuss positive preliminary metallurgical test results for its Hilditch Gold Project, 25 kilometres from Kambalda, Western Australia. The tests have confirmed that the 19,500-ounce Hilditch gold resource is free-milling and can be processed using conventional cyanide extraction methods. Gold recovery rates from the initial metallurgical test work ranged from 91.4% to 95.8% through accelerated cyanide leach analysis. The testing involved ore-grade intervals from the Hilditch open-pit resource, covering oxide, transitional and fresh mineable ore grades, ensuring comprehensive spatial representation. The project, on granted mining tenements M15/1448, benefits from ready access to infrastructure and multiple toll-treating options within 60 kilometres. Additionally, a Flora and Fauna Survey has been completed in preparation for a mining proposal application. Seven composite samples from reverse circulation drill intersections were used for metallurgical testing, reflecting a variety of gold grades and weathering stages. Gold mineralisation at Hilditch is linked to structurally controlled contacts between mafic/ultramafic and volcaniclastic units, similar to the Wattle Dam Gold Project. The initial test work by Intertek Minerals in Perth analysed cyanide-extractable gold and estimated recovery rates for conventional CIL processing. Maximus Resources plans to proceed with a drill program this month to upgrade the resource into the higher confidence indicated category. This will include further metallurgical testing for gravity recoveries, grind size and reagent consumption. Following the drill results, the company may start a development study and submit a Mining Proposal. Wither highlighted the importance of early metallurgical performance testing and emphasised the near-term production potential of Hilditch, given its advantageous location and proximity to regional gold processing plants. #ProactiveInvestors #MaximusResources #ASX #HilditchGoldProject #GoldMining #MetallurgicalTesting #GoldRecovery #MiningExploration #WesternAustralia #CyanideExtraction #GoldProcessing #MiningDrilling #GoldProduction #MineralResource #GoldMineralisation #MiningProposal #ResourceExtension #JORCCompliance #MiningInfrastructure #GoldGrades #GoldRecoveryRates #MineralExploration #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews
Lunnon Metals Ltd (ASX:LM8) has reported high-grade gold discoveries at the Lady Herial and Plentiful prospects within the Foster-Baker (FBA) project area, part of the Kambalda Nickel Project in Western Australia. The company conducted diamond and reverse circulation (RC) drilling at these prospects, which are among its high-priority gold exploration targets. Assays revealed near-surface, gently dipping quartz vein structures at Lady Herial, with notable results including 3 metres at 14.8 g/t gold from 15 metres. At Plentiful, a 50-metre strike zone of gold mineralisation was identified, with significant results such as 3 metres at 2.59 g/t gold from 49 metres and 11.8 metres at 1.43 g/t from 117.6 metres, including 0.9 metres at 5.72 g/t. Managing director Edmund Ainscough highlighted the success of the company's gold-focused drilling programs, emphasising the potential for a low-cost approach to near-surface gold exploration, especially given the current high gold prices in Australian dollar terms. The company plans to prioritise follow-up drilling at Lady Herial to quickly develop these prospects while considering larger, deeper opportunities. #ProactiveInvestors #LunnonMetals #ASX #Gold #FosterBakerProject #KambaldaNickelProject #LadyHerialProspect #PlentifulProspect #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Lunnon Metals Ltd managing director and CEO Edmund Ainscough joins Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with more on the company's exploration success at one of Australia's oldest nickel mining towns. Ainscough said the ASX-listed company is positioned on 50 square kilometres of land within the Kambalda nickel belt of Western Australia, a region with a history of 1.6 million tonnes of nickel mined since its discovery in 1966. In just over two years, Lunnon Metals has conducted 85 kilometres of drilling, leading to a discovery named Baker, and reported a mineral resource of over 109,000 nickel tonnes at 2.7% grade. Additionally, Lunnon Metals is exploring gold prospects within the same region, leveraging the 25 square kilometres of land it holds in a renowned gold belt. The company has shifted focus temporarily from nickel to explore gold targets, with positive initial drilling results. A preliminary feasibility study (PFS) for the nickel deposit is underway, with completion aimed for the second quarter of 2024 - though dependent on external factors including decisions by BHP regarding its nickel operations in Western Australia. The company also acquired nickel rights to the Silver Lake Fisher project from Goldfields, presenting additional exploration opportunities. Despite subdued nickel market sentiments, Ainscough remains optimistic about the economic viability of Lunnon Metals' high-grade nickel deposits. Upcoming milestones include on the gold exploration results and the comprehensive PFS for the nickel projects, alongside developments influenced by external factors in the nickel industry. #LunnonMetals #NickelExploration #GoldProspecting #KimbaldaNickelBelt #ASXListed #MiningAustralia #PreliminaryFeasibilityStudy #ResourceDiscovery #SilverLakeFisher #InvestmentOpportunities #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

If you are looking for an International Mining Consultant specialist, check them out at www.entechmining.com.au for all of your Resource Geology, Mining Engineering, Geotechnical and Ventilation needs. Martin Down has recently retired from the Underground Mining industry, falling just a few years short of a 50 year career. His father was the Chief Accountant for Western Mining in Kambalda back in the 60s, which saw Martin find a career with WMC in the Mining industry. He worked all through Kambalda and spins plenty of intriguing yarns about Mining in the Nickel boom. Martin was also a Shift Boss at Bronzewing and was heavily involved in the recovery efforts following the Backfill disaster in 2000, which saw 3 fatalities. This was a very emotional and powerful topic for Martin to open up on. It was a great tribute to the 3 Miners that passed, but also great recognition towards all the heroic Miners that were involved in the recovery.

Coffee with Samso Episode 72 with Tim Wither, Managing Director of Maximus Resources Limited (ASX: MXR) Maximus Resources Limited (ASX: MXR) is working on the company making Wattle Dam Gold Mine. The Wattle Dam story has some history. I actually made a weak attempt to bid for the project way back in 2009 on some of the adjacent tenements but that never came to pass. n my opinion, within the Kambalda region, comparatively, the Wattle Dam area is one of the least active. There is no doubt that this whole region has been one of the best nickel hunting place. The Widgiemooltha Dome has been a classic hunting ground for nickel and this sits just south of the tenements held by Maximus Resources Limited. In 2020, the mineral exploration sector experienced one of the best years for capital funding. If I am not wrong, I could go as far as saying that this is one of the best years of capital allocation in this sector for many decades. I feel that this rush for good projects has allowed companies to finally drill projects that could unearth the next bag of mines. In this episode, Tim Wither tells us what is happening with the company and why he believes that the projects within the company are geared for better things to come. The exciting part is the potential for gold and nickel in a portfolio of tenements that have not had a lot of work done.

Stan Gillman is a WA Mining Legend, notably one of the main men from Gillman Brothers Mining Contractors. Gillman Bros was a family run Mining business that operated throughout Southern Cross, Kalgoorile and Kambalda in the 90’s and up until 2005. Stan is both a very experienced and knowledgeable Miner/Manager but also a gutsy and dedicated Businessman. He put his heart and soul into Gillman Brothers and we go through the whole journey start to finish, both the highs and the lows. Awesome Mining story from a bloke that’s been there and done it all.

It was a tough night for Kambalda residents, Fire came within kilometers of their townsite. James Trail CEO Shire of Coolgardie spoke with Glenney about it this morning.
I’m proud to introduce Shane McLeay. This is the most exciting interview I have done to date. Being a successful Business Owner is far outweighed by how much of a great bloke Shane McLeay is. Shane is a great success story straight out of Kambalda. From firing his first cut at 6 years old to opening a Mining Consultant office in Vancouver, Shane has achieved so much in Mining. After spending the time interviewing him, you can see why. I believe it all stems from him being a top bloke, not just a smart and hard working Mining Engineer. Contact Shane and the crew at Entech for a diverse range of Mine Consultancy services. Check them out at http://entechmining.com.au/

Follow the incredible journey of one of the original innovators of mining - Willy Wilshaw. A rare interview where he bares all. With a $500 scholarship he started off his Mechanical Engineering journey in Kalgoorlie. He describes the courses as mining focused with courses heavily focusing on Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Electrical Engineering and drafting. Everything revolved around design work where you were industry ready. He started off as a trades assistant on the ground floor. In the late 60's he got his break during the Nickel strikes where management put him in the drawing offices as a draftsman. In the 70's he left Kalgoorlie on a journey of self discovery which took him across the continents to 80 countries. He recounts his experiences of apartheid in South Africa and the personal conflict he experienced at the way Africans were treated. He goes on to discuss his return to Kambalda - where mechanisation started to emerge in the region. He describes his drawings for the Portal sets at the Otter Juan mine and the excitement of designing something new and using all his knowledge and how this creativity fuelled the rest of his engineering career. At the peak of his career, with WMC he had 14 mines, a processing plant, spray driers and a power station under his supervision as the Chief Engineer of Kambalda. They boy who started of as a trades assistant proved that anyone can make it to the top - and it those days it was possible. Willy goes on to describe he atmosphere he created in his company to encourage creativity in his team - "Lets have a go and if it does not work out - we put it to bed". 99% of the time it works - but if it does not - they try and solve the problem. A concern for him being the new generation being too afraid of making mistakes to think creatively and add value for the future. He misses the freedoms that he had back in his younger day but understands why we have so many rules in place now and their importance. With optimism for the industry of the future, Willy hopes that "old guys like him" are not pushed aside, and that they share their knowledge with the younger people and mentor them. He hopes that experience does not get washed away in the sands of time. Who will be the Innovators of the digital age? We would love to know who's stories like Willy's will inspire so get in touch with us. This episode was sponsored by our partners DaveyBikford Enaex

The ultimate partnership. Father and son. Willy Wilshaw founded Wilshaw Engineering in 1988. Since the companies inception, Wilshaws has been a leading engineering consultancy to the mining and mineral processing industry. Founded on world class engineering rigor and family values, Willy now runs the business with his son, Noel. Both of them graduated from the WA School of Mines in Kalgoorlie. Willy started studying at WASM in 1967 when the school had just started expanding . Willy had studied part-time and worked in Kambalda before his biggest career highlight; jumping from workshop manager to the chief engineer’s position in the engineering drawing offices in Kambalda; from which he gained the skills to form Wilshaw engineering. Noel’s experience at the School of Mines was quite similar to his father’s. He originally wanted to do pharmacy but later found himself impressed by some miners and decided to become a mining engineer. Noel had a great sense of achievement when he finished studying at the School of Mines, and always had the ambition to get involved in the family business; however, Willy found him distracted much of the time. With little experience, Noel didn’t know what the core business was, particularly with the underground infrastructure work. Noel worked for 12 years as a miner and mining engineer working his way to a GM role onsite before he had the conversation with his family about his desires to grow the family business. After being knocked back once before he came back with a sales pitch Willy couldn’t refuse. After lots of convincing, Willy wrote him a job description and Noel started work. Their close and strong family relationship is a considerable factor to their success of the business. As for the succession planning they are working on it. Willy’s current role is giving advice regarding engineering drawings, designs, and calculations to get the work done to their clients at reasonable cost whilst Noel takes care of the day to day operations. Both Willy and Noel have played instrumental roles in the guidance, mentoring and inspiration of countless mining professionals – and for that we tip our hats to you both.
