They also explore topics such as topology, mathematical shapes, and influential books in math. The conversation highlights the importance of challenging traditional definitions and finding new and innovative ways to engage with math education.Takeaways Math and music have a strong connection, and math can be used to analyze, manipulate, and create music. Combining art and math education can make learning math more engaging and fun. Topology is a branch of mathematics that relaxes the rigid terms used in geometry and focuses on the similarities and differences between shapes. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Charles Busch, Award-Winning Playwright and Drag Performer, Author, “Leading Lady: A Memoir of a Most Unusual Boy”About Harvey's guest:Today's guest, Charles Busch, occupies a unique and highly acclaimed place in the world of entertainment. He's a playwright, actor, director, novelist, cabaret performer and drag legend, whose characters evoke the great cinematic actresses of the golden age of Hollywood. As a young man, his ambition was to have his own theatrical troupe, and write camp, movie-inspired comedies in which he could play the leading lady in drag. and that he did. He's written and starred in over 25 plays including “The Divine Sister”, “The Lady in Question”, “Red Scare on Sunset”, “The Tribute Artist”, “The Confession of Lily Dare”, and one of my all time favourites, “Pardon my Inquisition or Kiss the Blood Off my Castanets”, starring our guest in the dual roles of the tempestuous spitfire prostitute Maria Garbanzo and her look-alike, the tragic noblewoman the Marquesa del Drago. And I can't resist mentioning his hilariously camp and heartwarming classic Christmas show, “Times Square Angel”, which has been performed annually for over 30 years. But there can be no question that in the world of theatre, our guest is best known for 2 of his hit plays: “Vampire Lesbians of Sodom”, which is one of the longest running plays in the history of Off-Broadway; and his smash long-running Broadway hit, “The Tale of the Allergist's Wife”, which earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Play, and won our guest the Outer Circle Critics' Award for playwrighting. He also wrote and starred in the film versions of his plays, “Psycho Beach Party” and “Die Mommie Die”, which won him the Best Performance Award at the Sundance Film Festival. He also directed the film, “A Very Serious Person” starring Polly Bergen, which won an honorable mention at the Tribeca Film Festival. On television, for two seasons, he appeared as “Nat Ginzburg” on the highly acclaimed HBO series “OZ”. He's a well-respected expert in film and theatre history, and he's appeared as a guest programmer and in numerous documentaries for Turner Classic Movies, and he's lectured and conducted master classes at many colleges and universities throughout America. He's a 2-time MAC award winner, and in 2003, he received a special Drama Desk Award for career achievement as both performer and playwright. He also received the Flora Roberts Award for Sustained Achievement in the Theatre by the Dramatists' Guild. He is also the subject of the acclaimed documentary film “The Lady in Question is Charles Busch”. And his CD, “Charles Busch Live at Feinstein's 54 Below”, is one of the best cabaret albums out there - an absolute joy from beginning to end. As an author, he wrote an auto-biographical novel in 1995 entitled, “Whores of Lost Atlantis”. And now, finally, he's released his captivating, witty, insightful and poignant memoir entitled, “Leading Lady: A Memoir of a Most Unusual Boy”, in which he recounts a life as a trailblazer, lived with authenticity and purpose. Top headlines for Wednesday, August 2, 2023In today's episode, we delve into new data from Gallup that reveals a significant decline in American belief in religious elements like God, angels, heaven, hell, and the devil. We analyze how these shifts have been playing out over the last two decades, with a particular focus on the steepest declines: belief in God and heaven. Next, we discuss a groundbreaking moment for the Christian music charts as a performer who dresses in makeup and women's clothing claims the number one spot, spurred in part by criticism from worship artist Sean Feucht. To wrap up, we explore the popularity of religious attractions, specifically shedding light on the Ark Encounter – a life-sized replica of Noah's Ark – which has recently topped the list as a leading tourist destination. “The term "drag" refers to the performance of exaggerated masculinity, femininity, or other forms of gender expression, usually for entertainment purposes. Drag usually involves cross-dressing. A drag queen is someone (usually male) who performs femininity and a drag king is someone (usually female) who performs masculinity. Performances often involve comedy, social satire, and at times political commentary.[1][2][3] The term may be used as a noun as in the expression in drag or as an adjective as in drag show.[4].” I feel like XXX (pornography) companies should have pensions, 401 (k), and retirement funds. Strykermeyer is a drag performer of unique powers and enormous skill. His work has enamoured audiences around the world. His ability to conjure a crowd is harnessed with immense theatricality; drawn from the combination of idiosyncratic invention in performance; and the greasepaints that contribute to the creation of an arresting and hypnotic aesthetic. Migrating to Australia as a boy from the UK, his family found residence in the Goldfields town of Kambalda in Western Australia. The contrast of geography and climate built a resilience in the young Stryker and forced avenues to escape - in imagination and by train! Landing in Perth in the 70s he entered his first nightclub - Matches on William street. The lure of the stage called and his place in the world was found. This was the time of a different drag scene. Experimental and exciting, it drew a queer community together and launched the careers of a bounty of burgeoning artists. Established performer Audrey Woodstock-Rose guided Stryker in the early days providing lessons in stagecraft and an appreciation of Asian theatre styles such as Kabuki, Noh, and Butoh; influences that resonate in Stryker's performance repertoire. Early song choices that supported his developing style included Gary Numan's Are Friends Electric? and Iggy Pop's I'm Bored, which he performed in ‘boy drag'. Considered one of the best make-up artists in Australia, Stryker contributed to the drag aesthetic on the film Priscilla - Queen of the Desert; ultimately being awarded the British Academy of Film and Television Award for Best Make-up and Hair Design in 1994. Arian Kashef - Startede som YouTuber, men skiftede retning mod skuespillet. Kunne sidste år blandt andet opleves i DR Drama-serien 'Når støvet har lagt sig', og i år i serien 'Kastanjemanden'. Tuesday on Political Rewind: It has been 50 years since Atlanta's first gay Pride parade kicked off on Peachtree Street in Atlanta. Compared to its recent iterations, the march was a small event. At the time, homosexuality was illegal under Georgia law and members of the LGTBQ community typically lived lives in the shadows. But on June 27, 1971, they congregated in Atlanta to publicly demand an end to persecution. The years since have seen a slow but dramatic transformation in laws and societal understanding of the LGBTQ community in Georgia and across the country, though obstacles to true equality still remain. On today's show, we reflected on the atmosphere that surrounded the first public stirring of gay pride among demonstrators, on Peachtree Street marchers, and looked at just how far LGBTQ rights have come in the half century since. Panelists: Taylor Alxndr — Co-Founder and Executive Director of Southern Fried Queer Pride, Musician and Drag Performer Tamar Hallerman — Senior Reporter, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Jeff Graham — Executive Director, Georgia Equality Shannon Clawson — Statewide Outreach Manager, Georgia Equality

My guest today is Denver-based drag performer and 7S artist manager, Brody Danger. This is Brody's second time Middle Class Rock Star Podcast. The first was way back on episode 9 (Rachel Miller - 7S Management). A veteran artist manager, Brody works with the likes of Hiss Golden Messenger, Erin Rae, Andy Frasco and Lucero. Though they are well suited for the music business, Danger has always wanted to live the fantasy of a performer as well. Several years ago, Brody started performing all over Denver as an air guitaring, knee-sliding drag phenom that forces audiences to rethink gender norms, while also serving as a symbol for all those who dare to be different. It's also worth noting that Brody and I are childhood best buds! We grew up across the street from each other, wreaking havoc all over our small neighborhood and starting bands with plagiarized tunes. It just so happens that we both ended up in the music biz! We're also both graduates of CU Denver's music program. In this quick catchup conversation, we chat about the life of a manager both post and during COVID, what it's like to be a drag performer, and what's next for both Brody and the entertainment industry. If you enjoy the podcast, please let others know, subscribe or write a review. 5 star ratings and reviews on Apple Music as well as subscribing to our YouTube Channel help us out the most!! Art Simone chats to us about confidence-building, how she discovered drag as a teenager, the exciting projects she's got coming up, and why Vanessa Amorosi's jam "Absolutely Everybody" is her favourite song to perform to. [This episode is in english] Drag ist queere Performance-Kunst. In welchen ökonomischen Verhältnissen arbeiten Drag-Performer*innen? [This episode is in english] Drag ist queere Performance-Kunst. When police raided the Stonewall Inn in New York City on the evening of 27 June, 1969, drag queens were targeted for arrest. The defiance of those in drag and other LGBT people that night sparked days of riots that are remembered today as a turning point for queer liberation. On the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, we meet three First Nations drag performers who continue to use drag as a tool for political expression.

Gia Gunn is a drag performer, artist, and activist originally from the suburbs of Chicago. She is best known for appearing on Season 6 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" and Season 4 of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars." Growing up, Gia was very in touch with her Japanese heritage, and studied Japanese classical dance for many years. In middle school, Gia began to realize she didn't quite fit in with her peers, and during senior year of high school, she was introduced to queer culture. After witnessing her first drag queen performance, Gia began performing in drag herself. It was a way she felt she could truly express herself in a way that was accepted. Despite originally not wanting to audition, Gia's life changed when she was cast "Drag Race." Since her first stint on the show, Gia has come out as transgender, and has began to shift her focus towards being an activist for her community and using her platform to share her journey to help others embrace their true selves.

The last Dyke bar in Vancouver closed in 2011. It was called Lick. Since then, the party scene for queer women, non binary and Trans folks has been roving and vibrant. Last summer I sat down with Paige Frewer, Drag performer, entrepreneur and party organizer, and Nadine Boulay, a Queer Historian DJ, and Drag Performer, to talk about where this scene came from, and where we see it going. This piece was originally broadcast for International Women’s Day 2018. Produced by Madeline Taylor.
Mitzi Macintosh is a much loved drag identity who worked in all the major Sydney venues over some two decades. Outrageous, subversive, a heart of gold and possessed with immaculate comic timing, she is the drag persona of performer Graeme Browning. Now residing in the UK, Graeme (and Mitzi) were back recently for his first one-woman show – Mitzi Macintosh – My Life in Lipstick – presented as part of the 40th Anniversary Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. His knowledge of drag as an art form and of a Sydney now past, is extensive. He is very much one of the custodians of the vibrant drag scene that existed through the 80s and 90s.He sat down with STAGES, 3 days after the Mardi Gras parade and party, to discuss his show, his process, and the art of the drag performer.
Gabriel Zapata’s childhood in San Bernardino was heavily influenced by television, cult films, the arts, and pop-culture. These served as an escape for Gabriel and his siblings from the dangers of their community at the time. After leaving college, he began performing drag as Jean Decay. With her drag performances, Jean Decay addresses important topics like race, sexuality, and other sociopolitical issues, but she is also a celebration and tribute to the women that have protected and influenced Gabriel throughout his life. Dennis visits Jackie Beat and his three adorable and vocal dogs in Jackie's L.A. home, which features an entire room dedicated to the movie Carrie. This year is Jackie's 25th year in show business so there are lots of topics to dicsuss, including the first time he performed in drag, working on projects like Flawless (with Philip Seymour Hoffman), Fashion Police (with the late Joan Rivers) and Hello, Ross (with Ross Matthews) and the ecstacy of taking off your tight shoes after a long night of entertaining the masses. They also get into how RuPaul's Drag Race has changed the drag world, what it was like to grow up in Arizona and why the movie "Carrie" deserves its own room.
